Okay this is my re-review. I have been here at least 5 times since my last review. Honestly I still feel very similar about Alcamo's (basicly it a pain in the ass to go here). But what i have learned is that there is a trick to Alcamo's. I might get kicked out of the club for telling you but oh well.

    1. Call your order in (313-584-3010). Expect to be put on hold for like 15 minute (like i said before this place is like the secretary of state)

    2. Order the $3 Italian with extra sauce (you get way more food then you need)

    3. We found if you put your order under the a certain name you will get a better bread to meat ratio. I cannot share this secret though.

    4. Bring someone with you have have them "hold" the single table outside while you go inside

    5. When you get get inside go to the back right refrigerator you will find there subs in there.

    6. Bring CASH because unless you are buying multiple subs its basically impossible to spend over the $5 minimum

7 .Go on a thursday. They have these awesome pastry thing up front on thursdays.

    8. Get napkins before you leave the store.

If you do this your Alcamo experince will be at a 3 star level. But the fact that there is a special process brings it back down to a 2 star for me.

There are not many Italian markets in my area so I'm glad I found this one. What started as a misson to find Caputo 00 flour turned into so much more.

It all started as soon as i walked into the door, I was greeted by a nice woman named Mary. She was very cheerful and i could tell from the start that this place would become a regular stop for me.

For the last year for some reason i've been obsessed with the Italian culture from the music to the food so when i seen the selections of pastas and meats and cheeses i was instantly hooked! I think they have every kind of pasta there is, including a selection if fresh frozen ravioli and gnochi.  They also have a ton of canned goods including the Cento products that I cant find anywhere else.

Then they have a list of subs that are top sellers. They are $3 or $5 bucks! They are fresh and delicious! I get one every time that Im in there. Also they have wines and Italian bagged cookies. When I was paying and ordered a cannoli, Mary told me that this dessert they have, for the life of me i always forget the name but she said it was better than Cannolis. Me finding that hard to believe asked what was in it. To me it reminds you of a big stuffed Packi (?) with a filling of sweetened ricotta and chocolate chips covered in powdered sugar!  Needless to say i was covered in powdered sugar on my drive home and let me tell you it was worth it! But unfortunately you can only get them on Thursdays which kind of sucks but that is a good thing for me because i would be the all the time. Hard to believe i went in for flour, stayed an hour to chit chat, met the owners who are very nice and left there like i was family.

    Check it out soon!

Love them mom and pop joints.  Heard great things about this place, and working in Dearborn, I had to check this place out.  Note- this review is predominantly for the sandwiches they serve here.

AMBIANCE- this place is the archetype of a mom and pop shop.  Plenty of selection of Italian, Greek, and other "ethnic" groceries.  If you're looking for "Ragu" or "Prego", you've come to the wrong market.

MENU- the deli is truly the star of this place, and this deli serves some of the best sandwiches in the area.  They have a number of standard sandwiches, along with a couple of home made creations (I believe they have one that has potato salad built into it).

My boss and I came here for the 1st time and got their house special (the name escapes me at the moment).  You can get a small (for $3) or a large (for $5) and they slice the meats fresh in front of you.  Let me think, a small or large sandwich.... uh yeah, large please.  The nice old man behind the counter was not the most efficient as he walked back and forth getting each ingredient one at a time.  No matter, we were in no rush.

FOOD- The sandwich was fresh and delicious.  On successive visits, every sandwich we have had has been great.  We've also tried their cannolis.  Also quite tasty.

OVERALL- gotta support those great local businesses.  Looking for an alternative to subway, this place kicks sandwiches into overdrive

What more can I say that hasn't already been covered by all our fellow yelpers. The place is simply a great italian market.

These are the things that I think are amazing:

    1. Sausage's
    2. Subs
    3. Prosciutto Di Parma
    4. Prime Steaks
    5. Olives
    6. Deli Meats
    7. Cheese Selections

I can literally go on about the place but trust the reviews and see for yourself why this place has a great following. You won't be disappointed!

BELIEVE THE HYPE! Yes, Alcamo's subs are really that good.

Alcamo's is a wonderful Italian market. Their shelves are stocked with jars of fire-roasted red peppers, fresh breads, oils, and wines. The butcher's case has an assortment of meats cut any way you like- roasts and chops ready to be wrapped in white butcher paper just for you.

But the mecca within Alcamo's is the deli counter? There are all types of cheeses labeled by where they were made. There are mounds of olives, stuffed with hot peppers or blue cheese or whole cloves of garlic.

And then... there are the subs. This is what you come for. They line sandwiches up on the counter for $5, or you can have them made to order. The bread is both crusty and tender, and the meat and cheese are always stacked high. I have had the Italian and the muffuletta. The olive salad that tops the muffuletta is a perfect compliment to the wonderful meats and cheeses. Many of their sandwiches are topped with Alcamo's own Italian dressing, which is a vinaigrette filled with herbs and spices. A quick tip? If you sandwiches are going to be traveling, order your dressing on the side! Then your massive sandwich is wrapped in white butcher's paper to make the most the most delicious present you could ever received. I always feel like a kid on Christmas!

The best subs in Metro Detroit.... but it is like "The Soup Nazi ", so pick a number , shut up and wait ! They call the shots here ! If you only have 15 minutes, go to McDonald's.

They are a step ahead of my other favorite Gonella's in Southwest Detroit. Alcamo's subs are a piece of art and so well put together. The bread is old world and always so fresh.

When you walk in, make sure you pick a number from the 1970's number tape roll thingy on the top of the deli counter.

Pros: They have the best subs in Detroit !

Cons: They're are a family run business which in itself is not bad, but sometimes it is a little slow here. But you can't rush a good sub I guess as the older lady behind the counter makes your sub with laser precision meat placing. The other thing is that it is sometimes hard to choose between Alcamo's and the fish place next door as it is awesome too !

I wish I had one of their subs right now !!

    Love Alcamo's.

Alcamo's is like a candy store for all things Italian (and more). Olives, wines, cheeses, meats, pastas, sauces, sweets, and fresh locally baked bread. The meat is really good quality and I have stopped buying meat at the mega grocery stores altogether. They put out a great selection in their case and have a lot more in back. Their hamburger meat is top quality - not a stitch of fat.

There are however, a few negatives:

The customer service is not always the best. If you're lucky to get the owner or one of the other senior people, then it's great, but others are less knowledgeable about things such as the different varieties of cheeses.

When it is busy, it becomes difficult for them to hear you when your number is called. The counters are really high and made higher with stuff piled on top. If you are anything shorter than 6' tall you might get missed. They could make a better effort of trying to find the person with the ticket number instead of moving onto the next so quickly.

Also, they close at 4:00 pm on Saturdays, but don't think you can arrive at 3:30 expecting service at the meat counter. One day I arrived at 2:45 and while waiting for my number to be called, I watched as a young guy started putting away the meat - over an hour before they close!

$5 gigantic subs made with top quality meat and cheeses that are sliced to order on freshly baked bread.... what is not amazing about that! The home made sauce is full of flavor and definitely worth the 25 cents for an extra one. This is an authentic Italian market with a lot of unique finds and  accompaniments to go with the sandwiches! There is not seating inside but there are some tables and benches around the corner outside - or the sandwiches are perfect to take to the park.

Cheap, quick, easy and beyond delicioso!

Best deli sandwich in the metro area - hands down. For $5 you can get twice the sub sandwich you'd get from Subway.
Keep in mind, this is a market - there is really no place to sit. There is a little table right outside but it's always occupied.
Some coworkers and myself were craving some Spicy Italian sandwiches though so we drove out, bought our sandwiches, grabbed a blanket from out of the car and had an impromptu picnic lunch on the lawn on this late summer day.
For dessert? Get the cannoli if they have any left... it sells out fast. And it's only ~$1.50.
I don't know why I don't go here every week because it's definitely a little hidden gem in the metro area.

Joining the mass of fawners, I just cannot disagree with the overall assessment of this place.

Sandwiches? Check. Great meats and cheeses sliced to order topped with fresh veggies and delicious vinaigrette dressing on tasty bread. Whatever you pick is sure to satisfy. Get some olives and potato salad to go with and you will feast like kings I tell you.

Plenty of great Italian style grocery staples, it's a fun place to browse. I will be back again and again.

I didn't really want to believe that 19 5-star reviews could really be all that, or I wanted to believe I could hold out on the sheer exuberance of this 5-star mania and add some 3- or 4-star rationality to the as-good-as-it-gets bedlam. But I was indisputably in the wrong. Alcamo's is an exceptional 5-star deli / Italian specialty goods store.

I ordered the prosciutto-tomato-mozzarella sub - and it was capital! Every component super fresh, the oil-vinegar sauce (which i had served on the side, which i think is the preferable way to incorporate the sauce) was impeccable, laced with herbs and pepper; the bread's surface crusty and the insides chewy. The prosciutto was wonderfully lean but lacking in no flavor, which was crucial, since you don't want too much chewy fats when eating a sandwich - you need to be able to tear a bite away without any effort, unlike when eating prosciutto off a plate or with some melon, and a chewier piece is easier to handle in a single bite. The mozzarella was firm, a little salty, robust.  Delicious. What a superior sub.

The store has a very impressive deli - their selection of sausages and cured meats is one of the best I've seen in Metro. Picked up some genoa salami and a little sopressata - delicious. I also eyed on their 20+ varieties of olives in the display case, but couldn't decide so waited for another visit.

The rest of the store stocks an abundance of all things Italian. sauces, pastas, oils, wines, vinegars, preserves, pantry stuffs, etc. There's also a notable selection of French and Polish goodies throughout the shop as well: wafers, chrust (airy pastry twists), bread sticks, kielbasas, hazelnut spreads, cherry wines, cordial, fig vinegars.

The prices here are not rock bottom, but I'd say they're very reasonable for specialty items and imports. A place to get an affordable 'extra' or treat.

Definitely coming back here to survey more of their deli meats, cheese, and olives.

You see ... Dan R egged me on. He said this is where I would find my Italian beefs, dipped, with sweet n hot. Now, I have no idea if he was actually wrong because all I saw on the counter was this $5 stacked high Italian sub -- and at that point I did NOT care if there was another sandwich with my name on it. NOTHING can beat a $5 meat-stacked Italian sub already made for you, on the counter like mirage. All I wanted to do was EAT.

They had a whole stack of them ready for the lunch crowd on top of the deli counter. I was reluctant to just take one, thinking they might be for catering... but totally ignoring my conscience, I took two! Taped to the top of the sandwich box was this red vinaigrette. Little did I know how important this little tub of happiness would be.

I was strolling aimlessly through the store looking for cannoli, but apparently they were waiting for me the whole time at the check out counter. How strange, but OK! And someone said they only had cannoli on Friday, so I figured I *HAD* to get a cannoli.

When I opened that beast of a sandwich in the car, I knew I just committed a mortal sin. You see, there was NO way I could actually eat this sandwich while driving in work clothes. I would be a disaster at my next destination. This sandwich was THICK, but damn it, I was drooling on myself I NEEDED to try a bite. Oh sweet heaven! What was this delicious creation!? Where has it been the past two years of my life?!

In terms of wins and fails:

    win:

Italian sammich -- awesome meat, awesome cheese, generously stacked high, all on a delicious bread and CANNOT BE BEAT red Italian home made vinagrette. This little tub of happiness completes me ... and the sandwich in ways I couldn't even imagine.

    Semi-fail:

Cannoli -- OK, hear me out, this was one of the freshest cannoli I've eaten on this side of the US-Canadian border. The shell was perfecto -- the filling -- I don't know, I just cannot be won over by a standard cream filling. It HAS to be the cheese filling, not a standard vanilla-puddingesque custard filling. Maybe my personal standards are all wrong, but I like what I like. And this cannoli wasn't the greatest I've ever had period, but it was pretty damn good for SE Michigan.

    Overall:

    WIN WIN WIN

Location, cost, and 0 to no wait makes me one happy Dea.

As others have pointed out, Alcamos is an amazing Italian market.

New sandwich at Alcamos... The Prosciutto Sub. For 6 measly dollars, you get a large quantity of domestic prosciutto on a sub bun, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and the house sub dressing. Delicious.

When I was a small child, my Italian grandmother used to make a sandwich like this for me.  It brings back memories of my summer in Italy in 1978.

Um, why had I never thought to put potato salad on a sandwich? We put coleslaw on reubens and potato salad way outranks slaw (definitely one of my top 10 favorite foods), so why the hell not?

Alcamo's thought of it. Alcamo's is just smarter than everyone else.

Get the Grandma's Special. Ham, salami, creamy potato salad, yellow mustard on a sub bun. Enormous. Easily split between Dan and I for a hearty lunch. FOUR DOLLARS!!!!!

What an amazingly GREAT $5 Italian Sub!

    Check that....

What a GREAT Italian Sub and it's amazing it costs only $5!

    What's special, you ask?

Is it the meat stacked high and freshly sliced just for you? Is it the tasty cheese that takes no backseat to the meats?   Is it the red ripe tomatos that taste garden fresh?  Is it scredded lettuce that never wilts? Is it the bakery fresh roll?  Is it the best zesty Italian dressing on the planet?

    Why yes... yes it is.

It's  amazing how simple, well executed, can be Grrrreat!

Alright, here's the deal. This is one of the best Italian markets you you can go to in the area, period. I almost don't need to say anything other than this is the place to go if you want authentic Italian goods at excellent prices. But I will.

This place has been around a long time. I'm not exactly sure how long, but I know my dad told me he used to come to this place when he was a little kid with my great grandfather, so it's been around at least since the mid 50's. But let me say up front that this place is in danger! Far too many people are selling out and going to chain stores instead of doing their shopping at local places. Heck, at the very least buy your specialty goods at a specialty store! The quality is so much better, it will blow your mind. You will be able to find goods and ingredients you never even knew were there!

So, rant over with, I can continue. Alcamo's has pretty much any kind of old world Italian goods you'd want. Their extensive deli counter and cheese case provides a wide assortment of all the domestic meats and cheeses one could want, as well as lots of other great things like olives of many different kinds, sausages, offal (truly old world), and on and on. One of the great things is that the staff is very knowledgeable and happy to help you find the best stuff for the price. For example, I was getting some prosciutto (which can be very pricey) and the person helping me guided me away from the $16.99/lb imported and toward a certain brand of domestic that was only $10.99/lb. Not bad eh?

They also have a nice assortment of fresh baked breads from some local bakeries. This is another good thing. Rather than buy bread at the megamart, buy from a local bakery, or at the very least from a store that carries breads from a bakery in the area. There's also a respectable wine section, though it definitely focuses primarily on wines that would best go with - you guessed it - Italian food. One of the best things about this place though is going and finding something new regularly. Heck, I'm Italian and I still I find something I haven't tried before pretty often.

You can also place orders for various things if you have a special need. For example, my family has been getting Thanksgiving turkeys from this place for as long as I can remember, and they are some of the best birds, brought in from Amish farms. There's a difference, trust me.

So next time you're in the mood for Italian, rather than go out why not get the ingredients from Alcamo's and make something yourself? Cooking can be really fun at times, especially if you have someone to do it with. Besides, shopping at a place that deserves it like this market is important, not only to the owners I'm sure, but also to me, because one day I think I'd like to take my grandkids shopping here too.

Finally tried this place based on glowing reviews in our internal "good lunch place picker" database at work. Yes, geeks, given time, will eventually write code that picks your lunch place for you so you don't have to.

Anyway, I got there and I immediately liked the old skool-ness of the place. I liked the handwritten signs stuck to the front of the deli case, I liked the old timey menu board.  I ordered the corned beef reuben sub, regular size.  It was only $3 and quite tasty.

I'm only giving Alcamo's 4 stars instead of 5...there's nothing wrong but I want to try a couple different subs (like Grandma's Special) before I bust out with the 5-star rating.

Only downside: very limited on beverage selection, so if you're coming here for lunch you will probably want to make other arrangements for a bevvie.

    Eat your heart out Zingermans...

Another major fan of this modest and authentic Italian Market.  The sandwiches are spot on, and the nice ladies hand slice every one so it has just the right texture and taste.   All this for between 3 and 6 dollars!   I recently tried Giardiniera sub, which was pretty tasty too.

Definitely come here for the huge selection of cured meats, olives, fresh cheese, and Italian specialties.  They also will help you pick out olive oil and the "good stuff" was $14.  The same thing at ZIng's would be 40....

Stopped in there for the first time this past Saturday afternoon.  Unfortunately, we chose the wrong sandwiches from the menu.  Mine was the one with meat and spinach dip.  The spinach dip was really awful and made the sandwich a waste.  The other sandwich was salami with cream cheese.  No one asked us what else we might like on our sandwiches and then as they were making them there was a pretty disgusting family argument between the counter help.  Not cool.  And no chance for us to ask for anything custom made.  So our sandwiches had nothing but the meat/dip and meat/cream cheese on them.  Gross and salty.

I must say that I enjoyed the grocery items on the shelves and I spent a pretty good amount on miniature gnocchi, vodka cream sauce, rolled anchovies, etc., but am really hoping that I can find these items elsewhere in the future because the staff at Alcamo's really put me off.

My Italian family has been shopping here for three generations.  It's a cute little market, there is a tiny produce section, an entire aisle of every type of pasta imaginable, and all sorts of Italian cookies, and sweets to dip in your espresso.  Reasonably priced imported meats, cheeses, olives, and other Italian delicacies.  I really feel strange writing this on a public forum but get the sausages...

I was in town for a weekend and wanted some great food.  Saw the reviews on Yelp and decided it was worth a shot.  I walked in told them I heard they were good, the woman behind the counter responded "We are."  That raised the stakes a bit.

They delivered.  I got the Italian (at the suggestion of the woman behind the counter), my wife got the proscuitto sub.  I'm not sure I have ever spent $5 so well.  My sub was amazing.  My wife's was equally great.  I went in with tempered expectations, I mean how good can a sandwich actually be?  Amazing.  There was really nothing you could do to make it better.  The ingredients, the freshness, the size of this sandwich were all of epic proportions.  Seriously, I've seen cats that weigh less than this sandwich.

We also got a small container of fresh mozzarella. Nom nom nom!   The place looked awesome, really impressive wine selection and everyone was SUPER friendly.  I'd loved to had more time to look around.

WOW!!!! This is the best sub sandwich I ever had.  The freshest meats, vegetables, and cheeses.  This sandwich is truly a work of art.  Once you have one, you can't go back to Subway's.  I had the Italian  sub and it was HUGE for only $5.00.  It was dinner one evening and lunch the next afternoon.  The italian dressing that comes with it was simply delicious.

This is my second trip here. The Spicy Sicilian was my sandwich of choice this time.

Great flavor, just the right amount of bite to it. Spicy pepperoni, ham, other meats that I didn't even know, cheese, peppers, lettuce, dressing.

The thing that draws you in is the smell of all of the Italian seasonings. It's a delight to your sense of smell.

Growing up, my dad would go to Alcamos (or The Italian Store - as he called it) and buy very yummy bread that was brought in from Windsor's Italia Bakery and mortaldella - that stuff makes the best sandwiches.  Their spicy olives are soooo delicious as well, and for my fellow cooks out there, you can get some really good fresh ricotta!
I also buy my espresso from there, and you can find a few other imported items, but primarily, I go there for the deli!

This is a hidden little gem!  Their subs just can't be beat - I dare you!....Their $5 Italian sub is absolutely loaded with quality Italian meats and cheese....and on Fridays - they have the most amazing Cannoli's, (but be sure to get there before noon - they sell out fast).   Their olives, cheeses are wonderful and they carry Italian breads....

I always end up spending more than what I should, but the quality is wonderful.....  They are closed Sunday and Mondays though - plus call for hours during holiday weeks, sometimes they change.

Went back yesterday to smash on a Spicy Sicilian...my god.  Grandma or whoever took our order behind the counter might be getting fired, because I think she put too much meat and cheese on my sub.  Read in Italian deli voice..."MAMA!!! We told you, only 2 slices, not 4 for the sub, ehhhh!!!"

Yesterday I may have had the best Italian Sub of my life.  I still can't comprehend what happened.  The sub was like 3lbs, wow.

I can't wait until someone dares to give Alcamo's less than a 5/5.

I'm amazed at the reviews on here..
I have lived near this place for years and the times I have been forced to go there I'm reminded why I usually drive the extra 10 minutes to Westborn.
The variety of authentic Italian groceries is pretty good. The fresh mozzarella is tasty and the sandwiches varied. The produce section, as in a little refrigerator, is not even worth considering.
The cheese gives this place 2 stars.
The service is ATROCIOUS! The deli people are ok, it gets busy so it's understandable they aren't too talkative. The register person is always, always the biggest flake on a good day and another word that rhymes with witch every other day. To the point where you say hello, you get a stare down and your change THROWN on the counter. This has happened twice. Really grocery store lady?
She must be owner or something cause there is no way she would still be working there otherwise another reason it is really not worth the trouble. Thank goodness an awesome hot deli opened up down the street where the old Kroger used to be. Also, they have a ridiculous schedule, closed at like 6 and closed Sunday and Monday..
If you value your time and appreciate service, steer clear Alcamos!

This place is awesome, great meat, great bread, great sandwiches.
I have lived across the street from here for a while now.
I just got a espresso machine and could only find the Lavazza super crema espresso beans online, but then I remembered Alcamo's and walked over to check, and there they were on the shelf and about the same price as online. They said you can get a cheaper price with 6 or more.

I just wish I could take this market with me when I move out of Dearborn.

Admittedly, I'm probably not going to say anything that hasn't already been said but I may as well lend my soaring off-key tenor to the chorus singing the praises of this spot.

This place has a heart and a soul, it's real and it's genuine. This is the kind of place I love; it does it's own thing and does it extremely well. I walk in the door and I shed a tear for all the unwashed masses who have to eat Subway for lunch. Alcamo's has been there for years and I love them for it. You can procure all manner of Italian specialty items from deli meats and cheeses to olive oil and pastas. The owners let their kids run around the place and it just feels like a family place in there, it's all so very nostalgic, it makes me get all chewy just thinking about it.

    K, enough of that.

I used to think that as far as Italian subs go, Gonella's was it, hands down, no comparison. Whoa nelly, even I can be wrong apparently! Gonella's is a damn fine sandwich let me tell you, but Alcamo's it ain't friends! The only thing Gonella's has on Alcamo's is the Gonella's hard roll, so good! Get in ma mouth! Alcamo's is a damn fine roll too though. Everything else though goes to Alcamo's, definitely. Their giardenera sub is lights out and is my favorite but the regular Italian and the Grandma's are stellar as well. I'm not a huge fan of the proscuitto sub but hey, no one is perfect jack! The service is quick, friendly and helpful and the prices beat the chains and you get SO much more than previously frozen bread, bland meats and flavorless toppings.

So anyway, get your skinny butt over to Alcamo's and support something that is real and delicious. Forget the chains friends.

    Over n' out.

The best Italian market around. Period.

Since discovering this place several months ago, I've been getting lunch here one or two times a week! If it was closer to my house, I would probably do most of my grocery shopping here as well. The staff is great and extremely helpful. The Prosciutto and Spicy Sicilian sandwiches are my favorites, and at $6, you can't go wrong.  If you want to feel even more nostalgic, they still sell their Coke in glass bottles.

I work right on Michigan Ave in Dearborn so Alcamo's is a GREAT place to grab some lunch. I'm very partial to the $3 Corn Beef sub. The bread is a perfect combination of soft and chewy, I can't replicate it at home! The Summer Fresh slaw they put on the sandwich is also very good; nice and  vinegary.

Alcamo's is also the place where I go to for fresh mozzarella. I get a small container of the cherry size, salt them a bit and pop them for lunch!

They also have a great selection of dried pasta and Italian imports.

If you're in Dearborn, you have no excuse to not stop by Alcamo's for lunch!

What else is there to say about this market?! Worth the drive from wherever you are in the metro area. The best deli/market I've been to. If you live in the area and you haven't been, you need to stop reading this, and go immediately! Grab an italian sub, a jar of hot giardinera, and some aranciata (orange pellegrino drink), and let the addiction begin! Speaking of which, i think I have somewhere to be...

Alcamo's is the quintessential neighborhood grocery & deli. Awesome sandwiches made on the spot with fresh ingredients from right behind the deli counter. Where else can you get an Italian sub made with top-notch ingredients for 3 bucks? Even if you're not going there for the sandwiches, the deli is always fully stocked with the best domestic and import meats, cheeses, olives, spices, and whatnot. This place is a lunchtime landmark.

I love markets.  If you are looking for Italian groceries, olives, cold salads, 4 varieties of feta cheese, bread, wine, olive oil, this place will satisfy.  I was more curious, though, about the sandwiches.  Ordering a vegetarian sub seems ridiculous, but they do make one.  And if you're looking to spend $3 or $5 for lunch, it's not a bad deal.  But, and I can't believe it myself, Jimmy Johns makes a much, much better veggie sub.  The vegetables get mushed together into a watery amalgam (which isn't terrible, because I don't mind an amalgam of peppers and cucumbers).  The tomatoes are sad.  I do like the tangy sauce, though.  I've given the sandwiches 2 tries, and will probably return because of the location and the groceries, but if there were a Jimmy Johns nearby, I'd think twice about eating another veggie sub here.  The cannolis were quite good, but they are at the cash register, and I don't know if I like the idea of the person handling the cash also handling the cannolis..

4 stars for the market, the apparently worthy meaty subs, the cannolis, and also the lone picnic table around the corner where I eat all of this.

Best choice of sicilian vino I've come across in Michigan so far. Olives, olives, and more olives. Spicy, sweet, and many other types and great sandwiches. Thank you yelp for leading me here !

Great sandwiches, I have tried the Spicy Sicilian and the regular 5$ Italian. Both sandwiches were very good, made with premium meats. The star though of both visits, have been the cannoli's.

I LOVE this place, I can't begin to stress that enough, love it. Being italian myself, it makes me feel so much at home. The smells and the people, I used to go with my mom when I was young, it brings back the best memories in life. Try it, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed, and probably will be spending alot more money that you thought you would.....

I discovered Alcamo's a few years back when I began working in downtown east Dearborn.  What a treat!   Alcamo's offers an excellent assortment of authentic Italian products and great sandwiches from the deli.   I also enjoy  the Italian freely spoken throughout the market.   Beware, Alcamo's is closed on Monday.
