Absolutely the best tasting kebabs around town. My father is middle eastern and even he says he has not had better kebabs. The ground chicken is TO DIE FOR.

BUT THAT'S NOT EVEN HALF OF IT!!! THE LUNCH SPECIALS ARE SO RIDICULOUSLY REASONABLE!  AND SO MUCH FOOD! You get a salad, bbq tomato, BOMB rice and the kebab for like seven or eight bucks!? Its robbery.

We are so happy we found this place. We come for lunch at least twice a week now. Parking SUCKS but its a small price to pay for the amazing food and prices youll enjoy at Alborz.

Oh and one more thing. we just found out that they cater for 20 people for one hundred and eighty bucks.....  And yeah its a ton of food... ARE YOU KIDDING? how does this place stay in business!?!

Will be back again and again.

Once again, Yelp comes through in a pinch!  We were jonesing for middle eastern food, and didn't know where to go, so we checked our handy mobile Yelp, and lo and behold!  There was a Persian place 10 minutes from us (okay, some Persians might argue with the Middle Eastern characterization, but it was close enough).

When we walked in, we were a bit suspicious as there was only one other table, but we figured what the heck.  It did reassure us that over the course of dinner, several other people came in, or picked up carry up, and everyone who did so was speaking Persian to the owners (as I have said before, always a good sign!).

We decided to sample several appetizers.  The highlight of the meal had to be the crispy rice covered in stew (we opted for the ghormeh sabzi, which was a delightful lamb stew with red kidney beans and an unusual but delicious mixture of fresh herbs - a bit like swag gosht but unique at the same time).  The crispy rice is fabulous!  A crunchy, nutty pancake of rice smothered in the savory stew.  Now I know why this is one of the national dishes of Iran!  We also sampled the kashk'o bademjan, a puree of baked eggplant, nothing like what we expected (we were thinking baba ganoush), but very nice nonetheless, although it did taste a tad sweet.  And we had the shirazi salad, a nice salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, and herbs, that was a pleasant foil to the savoriness of the other dishes.

Two words of warning for the uninitiated: one, they don't have a liquor license, which is a pity, as a beer or a hearty glass of red wine would have gone great with the dishes.  Two, do not try the raw onions!  I have been to several Persian restaurants over the years, and they all seem to serve them, but for the life of me, I don't know how anyone can enjoy them.  Far too strong.

There's even a very nice and well stocked Middle Eastern market next door, so on our way out, we were able to restock on some of the more exotic Middle Eastern spices you can't find at your local Ralph's.

The kabobs were terrific.  However, the best thing is an appetizer of baked eggplant, with fried onions and other spices--fabulous!

Well, it happened. As all other Iranian restaurants, this one went down the drain as well. I used to rave about this place where food and service were no less than perfect. In the tradition of all Iranian restaurants, you now have a zero affect dismissive owner standing talking to his buddies while he ignores the customers. Then you have the rude, dismissive, condescending "waitress" who had a PhD in disappearing after she takes the order. Food went down hill. They made the kababs so thin now (to save money) that they come burnt. What a shame. I just made my last trip here. Fortunately, another Iranian kabab place opened up next to my home. Fortunately, the owner is Mexican, and I love the guy. He is always friendly, his servers are always nice, and I just love hearing him speak Farsi. The food is great, and so is the service.

Delicious food, great customer appreciation, and a fun environment!

Try their chicken koobideh, boneless chicken kabob, grilled trout with dill rice, and their mast o khiar! These people do persian the way IT SHOULD BE DONE! :)

I don't know if they make their own hummus, but it was very good, smooth and creamy.  I appreciated that the pita bread that came with it was hot and toasty.

The Beef Koobideh was decent but not great.

This place is good.  I can always call in the party trays the morning of and have them all ready within 90 minutes.

My co-workers who always order the chicken kabobs say it's pretty tasty for the lunch special price, to which includes salad, rice, and roasted tomato.

I only get the eggplant stew.  YUM!

Sadly, the hummus is prepackaged and not freshly made at the restaurant.

Also, they do not deliver, which is a big bummer.

    Best deal around!

Super cheap lunch specials, delicious home cooked style meals, healthy and fresh! The restaurant is always very clean and the owner is always friendly and helpful (just in case you have trouble understanding what is in each dish).

I usually get take out (about twice a month) and everything is always wrapped nicely, never a spill or a disorganized presentation.

Only downside is the parking lot, its a total nightmare when busy and the spots are very tiny. I usually park on the side street in the residential area around the back.

    For mommies:
bring your stroller because I've never seen high chairs.

Totally recommended, Alborz is a must!

I came here for lunch today via recs from Yelp. Thank you Yelp!!!

I had the boneless chicken kabob lunch. The chicken was by far the most moist chicken I have ever had, the rice was fluffy and steaming, and the cool salad topped it off perfect. I was stuffed after and it only cost $7.95.

But my favorite part was the owner. He was super friendly and genuinely happy that I was his customer. These are the type of mom and pop places that deserve to be in business.

    Run, don't walk to Alborz!

A hidden gem you must try! It is right next to a Middle Eastern market- GREAT DUO! try both.

We came here for dinner so keep in mind that if you come for lunch this is "best for your buck" type of place. Dinner can add up but the portions are large so you can always take home.

-Service: Friendly- the owner is nice and at the time we went he served us himself. He is not very accommodating in terms of substitutions etc. He will charge you for anything extra you ask for. BUT he is nicer than most Persian hosts and this is good.

-He brings you warmed up pita and the usual butter/onion basket

-We started with the Tahdigh (bottom of pan crispy rice)
To be honest the crispy rice was waaaaay too crispy and difficult to bite into BUT I always get this item when I go to a new Persian restaurant because I can taste two stews and find out if they do it well.
His stews are excellent. I had the Ghormeh Sabzi and the Gheymeh

I recommend ghormeh Sabzi fans to try this place! It is a bit oily but wonderful!

-GET THE SALAD SHIRAZI here! He does it very well and it was fresh. Yummy!

-We ordered Cherry Juice and Dough for drinks. He serves you in wine glass and makes you feel special:)

-The boneless chicken kabob was tender and tasty! I loved it. He makes his rice very fluffy. It's not the best quality rice but it takes great. It feels light. The dinner entree comes with green salad on the side. TONS AND TONS OF FOOD!

Do not order the Dolmas unless you actually like canned Dolma, Personally I want homemade Dolma so this is a noooNOOO!

The ambiance is a local "whole in the wall" cute- great for sit in but lots of people came for take out.
He had a Shakira concert DVD on the flat screen and it was fun to watch...lol
The lighting of the place is nice and the restaurant was relatively peaceful despite the small size and number of customers.

CLEAN: -Yes! I did not use the restroom but the overall feel and smell of the place is very clean.

I will go back here for sure:) You should try this place.

The locale isn't really restaurant central, and anyone who's driven by the place will agree. Next to a persian market (also a great stop, by the way), you wouldn't expect it to be good.

But if you come here, you come for the food. And the food my good friends, well that's just downright delicious.
As a full-blooded Persian, this is the only restaurant that gets my family's seal of approval. Of course, there is nothing like a home-cooked persian meal, but I prefer this place out of any when it comes to persian food.

Of course, there may be a few things here that turn you off. Overall, the food is NOT greasy. Some of you may like your kabob's greasy, and to each his own. I'm not calling it health food, but it's definitely lighter on the oils etc. than a typical persian spot.

Also, don't waste your time on the hummus here. Hummus, although served at persian places, isn't really our thing. Go for the mast-e-mousir (yogurt with shallots) or mast-e-khiar (yogurt with cucumbs, or tzatziki to our greek friends).

In summary: it's great persian food. What else do you really want?

Good evening, and welcome to Alborz Restaurant. Do not be alarmed by my hairy demeanor, nor by the obvious crush my older daughter has on your boyfriend. And* please ignore the snot coming out of my hirisute three year old daughter's cute little nose; it just means she likes you. What would you like to order today?

Chicken: eh, I didn't eat it. My boyfriend did, however, and he enjoyed it.

Pita: pretty excellent, but then again, I do love carbs.

    Hummus: A-OK.

    Dolmas: excelente.

    Rice: tasty as rice goes.

    Baklava: sweet and crunchy. Score.

Water refills: very consistent, but only because the teenaged waitress wanted my boyfriend's nuts. Whatever; when my cup stays filled, I am happy. Why (imagine that the "why" has been italicized) it gets filled is beyond my control.

Three and a half stars, plus half a star because I am nice, for a total of four stars.

*sorry, guys. I know that "and" shouldn't start a sentence, but...well, it was a stylistic choice, you see. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    Honestly, this place is underrated.

The rice is fluffy and tasty. The chicken kebabs are moist and delicious, especially the boneless chicken. The beef is good, too, but I rarely order it.  Their prices are great and service is excellent. They cater, too. Always consistent with the quality of their meats and I never had a "smelly meat" moment with them, unlike other kabobi places I've been to.

Checked out Alborz Restaurant in Woodland Hills and found a hefty chicken kebab lunch for almost a Lincoln Lunch fiver. The eatery has seven lunch specials for $6.95 each, including a boneless chicken kabob, which I ordered.

My food came with a heaping plate of the most fluffy rice I have ever tasted, a small salad and a broiled whole plum tomato. Six large, moist pieces of marinated chicken rounded out my tasty meal. Diners also get a basket of warm pita bread, butter, and a quarter of a raw onion when they sit down.

Other lunch specials include a ground chicken kabob, ground sirloin kabob, kidney beans and veal, chicken salad, split peas and beef, and diced beef with green beans. We were the first eaters to arrive at Alborz but others trickled in while we ate. The small restaurant has minimal decor and an open seating arrangement. Park out front in the strip mall.

When I'm hankering for some Koobedah, I have 2 choices in the area:  Shirin and Alborz.  Food quality wise they are on a level-playing field.  Alborz is cheaper, friendlier, and more reliable.  Shirin has an online menu, but you run the risk of having your order screwed up or talking to an old grumpy man if you place a phone order.  Alborz hooks up a discount if you order several lunch specials!

Oh, and for some reason Yelp shows the wrong location on its map!  It is at Fallbrook and Oxnard.

Went there recently with my co-workers for lunch. The chicken breast is really good, and they give you a week's worth serving of rice. However, the man serving us had extremely hairy arms and was wearing a short sleeved shirt really grossed us out. I couldn't stop but think that any minute his arm hair would end up in our food.
