Just a local supermarket... less options than I'm used to, but the food is usually fresh, probably because all the college students come here all the time.  Sometimes I can't find stuff I'm looking for, so that's why 4 stars.  Oh and I've bought tomatoes here before that were questionable.  Everything else has been fresh though, and the tomatoes at other grocery stores in SLO were questionable too, so it's not the worst place to get your food.

Poor. Came here to get a visa travel money card and the knowledge that both the employee and manager have is, limited at best.
At a Stater Brothers market, I was able to purchase a visa travel card with my credit card. Not only did the cashier make me feel very uncomfortable that it was not working, but the manager patronized me. This young manager was telling me matter of factly that the card could not be loaded with money charged on a credit/debit card. I suggest they look at the full capabilities of their registers and play around with it one night after closing. Will never purchase ANYTHING from here as a result.
In short, avoid this place like the plague if you are seeking gift card purchases. The employees working here have had little experience with such products that are on their shelves. Try the Rite Aid next door.

Great place to pick up ingredients for lunch or dinner if you're a college student and you live around the area.

Downside is that their stuff is pretty overpriced. They can do that though because it's really the only grocery store near Poly.

Make sure you sign up for an Albertson's card for extra savings! I'm dead serious!

They also have a Starbucks in the store, which is pretty much becoming a staple in every grocery store.

Good for: students who live near campus and have no car
You forgot something on your grocery list at a good grocery store
    You need booze

    Bad for: overpriced and small

As far as grocery stores go, this one is small and usually overpriced. Albertsons still has a rewards card you need to have to get any discounts they offer, which I find unnecessary. However, if you live in the area it's the closest place to get groceries, especially if you are a first year on campus with no car, or live in mustang village or similar places. The staff is nice enough, and I've never had a problem with them. They usually have what I need, but I usually only go here if I forgot an ingredient or have a hankering for something. They also have alcohol, so that seems to draw a lot of people in. Their alcohol prices are somewhat fair and they have good sales on booze every once and awhile. Besides that, I would go to new frontiers or ralphs

Friendliest Albertsons ever? I think so. This place is on the smaller side, yet I still had 2 separate staffers try to engage me in conversation (beyond "finding everything alright?) during a short visit.

Plus, they were one of the only brick & mortar businesses that still had graduation leis an hour after SLO's ceremony started. AND the leis were the double stranded kind, not the cheaper looking single strands. Yeayuhh

I cannot STAND this place! Why?

1.) The store is TINY! Therefore, their variety really sucks on most items, and the good items never go on sale.

2.) Their produce is never fresh.

3.) Since they are at an extremely convenient location, they can charge ridiculous prices for their groceries.

4.) They don't let you buy any alcohol if someone under 21 is with you. What kind of idiotic policy is this? Obviously it is very easy to work around this rule: just act like you don't know the person! So you want to lose sales for some stupid bs rule that you can easily cheat out of? Cool!

    5.) Looooooonnnnngg lines

6.) They think they are saving the world by trying to take every fake ID that they can. I understand they probably get heat from cops, but its almost as they take pride in rejecting people or collecting IDs.

Once they tried to tell me that my real ID was fake. Are you joking me? It's like they just try to see if they can take it from you if they can.. When I got my phone out and was about to call the police that's when she finally gave it back.

7.) Oh and all their bakery items are stale and taste like shit.

So what do I like about this place?
    1.) Fried Chicken
    2.) Oh wait thats it

Up yours Albertsons!  I'm glad you went out of business in Northern California!!

    ALWAYYYSSSS OVERPRICED

I cannot emphasize enough how bad of a grocery store this is...it does not take a genius to know that $2 for a 2-liter soda is not a good deal; $3 for a Banquet microwave dinner is not a good deal.

The only reason this place gets so much business is the location.  There are student apartments located everywhere along Foothill Drive and around Foothill Drive, PLUS this is the closest grocery store to the Cal Poly dorms.

Do yourself a favor and go to Ralphs - the best deals in town.

Absolutely despise this place. 9 out of 10 times this place is more expensive than the competitors I often frequent (Ralphs, Food 4 Less). My roommates and I all avoid this place. They don't care if they are the most expensive because they know all the college students who live near Foothill are going to come to them, they have no incentive to have better prices.

This place is also a joke because their bakery section is non-existent.

Stopped by here the other day to pick up supplies...  crackers, drinks etc.

Not a bad place...  a confusing little strip mall.  A bit on the smallish side considering the modern day Whole Foods and posh Safeway's that I'm used to, but this got the job done.

I HATE this place. I only go here because it is the grocery store in my neighborhood.  The aisles are tiny, the lines long, parking lot overcrowded, and there is one really bitchy checker.  I do have to say all the other checkers are great except for this one older women.  Unless you are like me and it is the closet store to where you live please trust me and AVOID!

This place is terrible. The prices, the employees, and the freshness of their overpriced food.
I bought some frozen cookie dough and on my way home my roommate realized it was expired by a week and decided to return it for money back since it costed so much in the first place. The clerk that sold me my groceries didn't know what to do so she told me to head over to a manager looking guy and said he would be able to help. He asked if we wanted to exchange it instead and we said no. With a big annoyed sigh he asked us to follow him into a back area for the transaction.
No "I'm sorry for selling you expired food" or sympathy was exchanged whatsoever.
I'm not picky I just would like some respect and a simple sorry every once in a while in exchange for me being a customer. Where do they hire these people? I'm sure there's plenty of individuals looking for a job out there that would make a much better addition than these clowns.
