It's conveniently across from UCI and slightly over priced foods.  No double coupons, but I can usually find what I want.  No long lines and staff is pretty friendly.  Not the best place to find herbs and peppers though.  Everytime I need a green pepper or a rosemary I have to go somewhere else.  No green or red peppers?  Really!?

The good: Wonderful open design, good lighting and the produce section is enormous! Vegetables are top-notch and last for at least a couple of weeks without peaking. Friendly workers there, and if you've got the club card, prices are decent too. Pharmacy is a nice add-on, and you're next to Gina's Pizza, Saigon Basil and even Starbucks, so you can go out for supper or coffee afterwards. Plus, it's only a 5-minute walk from the ARC (gym) at UCI, so you can get your groceries after you work out.

    The bad:
-Very little in the way of international food, which is always a major disappointment. Some Asian fusion food, some Mexican food and that's about it. Yeah, it's Albertson's, but it's Albertson's in Irvine! They could stock kimchi or seaweed stock or any major Persian staples. But they don't.
-Also, prices can be high. Not as high as Ralph's, but high enough to make you consider walking the extra 1/2 mile over to Trader Joe's.
-When it comes to the "hippie girl" stuff (yogurt smoothies, organic food, tofu), they are under-stocked and have little variety.
-And did I mention, this isn't the most vegetarian-friendly store? I looked everywhere for some Amy's frozen dinners (for those long days at school) but got nothing.

So, due to the location and fresh vegetables, I'll be shopping here from time to time. But if it weren't so close, I'd be hoofing it to Trader Joe's, 99 Ranch and Zion Market. Where's a campus Vons when you need one?

If it wasn't for it's location, I would give it 2*stars. But being that it is located near UCI, the place is always flooded with students. And the scarcity of some items often occurs.

The best times to shop for groceries here are perhaps in the morning. In the afternoon and evening hours, it's full of shoppers, even until the last minutes of closing (1am).

Overall, the place isn't too bad because it's open late and close to campus. But if you prefer shopping elsewhere I'd suggest going to the other Albertson's on Alton or Ralph's on Harvard.
