Convenient and close to home. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Always choose albertsons over Ralphs over the hill.

The good thing is that they have a Starbucks and a rather large selection of alcohols.
Besides that, it is quite expensive and be careful with fresh produce like meat, fish.
several times I came upon some that wasn't so fresh.... -

Who would have believed it, a classy supermarket in downscale San Marcos. At least in the daytime, does not attract the questionable characters who congregate around other Albertsons and Vons in this Third World city. (Cop cars are often found visiting another Albertsons store here.) Don't have experience with any but friendly personnel here either. Here and Ralphs are the places for decent people to shop for food, Ralphs may be slightly lower in price. Note: "points" are not worth going out of your way for here, 5000=a whole $5.

Meh. Not really a fan. This grocery store is super close to me but I'd rather drive over the hill and down to go to the Ralph's.
Too expensive, not enough organic anything, and not as large of a selection.
The Ralph's, I think, has a much larger selection of store brand organic products and has more sales- both generally and on organic products.
The only thing I faithfully buy at albertsons is their store brand sparkling water. -

The things I like about the store: It's clean, new, a lot to offer in the bakery, deli, and produce area. It's convenient, close to work. Yes, the price is high but it is at all Albertson's it seems.
The things I don't like about the store: The customer service stink's all the way around, oh, except for the bookkeeper, which I got her name and made sure I contacted the store to commend her. Great job Laura. That is the utmost important thing on my list, customer service. At least greet your customer when they reach the counter. I've been returning here only if I "have" to, but it's ok I give them back the same service they give me! -

I love shopping here (and I don't like to grocery shop usually). Great selection of food, wonderful produce and organic selections. Very friendly and helpful people throughout the store.

Love shopping at this location. Not the closest grocery store to me, but would drive the distance. The aisles are a bit smaller than what I'm used to, but it's clean and new!!!
Everyone is super friendly here. I usually come when it's not super busy so I don't usually have a prob with traffic / kids / rush hour. -

What is not to like?
Every time I shop at this location the store is always clean and organized. The clerks are friendly and helpful. Like Sharon V., I like their selection on Organic food/snacks. I have also noticed that the prices at this location is cheaper than the other Albertsons in San Marcos. I thought it would be the same.
This location does get a lot of traffic from the Starbucks inside the store. I notice it more so on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It is in a family community so you will see parents with their children in tow walking to Albertsons to get their Starbucks fix. The mini cafe is a great place to sit, talk, and relax. -

One of the best - if not the best Albertsons around. This store carries a fair amount of Organics which I like - there are two half aisles dedicated to this so you will usually find me there.
What I also love about the store is there's a Starbucks inside so I often find myself picking one up right before I do my shopping. This makes me happy.
Note: try to avoid this store right after school is let out. This apparently is the after school hang out spot so it's like recess. I must be getting old because that just annoys me. -

It's a supermarket.
If you don't know what they sell here, you are an idiot. -

I know it is random to review about a grocery store but I can't say enough about this place. First of all it is gigantic and everything you could want and imagine is available. Fresh fruit and veggies. Check out the deli section and seafood section very complete and with lots of variety. I love going to this place. It's a little out of the way for me but I make the drive.

The store is always neat and clean. They dont always have what I am looking for tho. (eg. Tassimo T-cups)
What I dont like is the staff is always rather grumpy. Not alot of smiles happening in there. -

This place's prices seem to be consistently higher than other local grocery stores and for such a large store, they have a really bad selection. It's all light and bright with nice big aisles, but they never carry the ingredients I need and I always end up needing to make another trip to another store. Also, the baked goods are terrible- the frosting tastes like lard.

ALWAYS some screaming/crying brat child throwing a tantrum in this place. And yeah, since it's basically a warehouse, every person in the entire store gets to hear it crystal clear. That's what happens when suburbanite parents don't discipline their spoiled children or give a rat's ass about anyone else in public who has to listen to them. RUDE MUCH?!
The worst part about this Albertsons is the fact that it's ALWAYS FREEZING INSIDE! I mean seriously, WTF? Does the A/C need to be set at 62 degrees? I can't believe I have to think about what clothes I am going to wear to do the GROCERY SHOPPING so I'm not freezing cold for an hour.
Not only is it cold inside, but the whole atmosphere of this warehouse *cough* I mean store, is pretty dreary. The new Ralphs stores have such a warmer/appealing interior design.
Their alcohol section is pretty good, but their cheese selection sucks.
Lastly, getting in and out of the parking lot is pretty annoying. You can only enter/exit from one-way roads (another thing SEH did to be cool but in the end is a total inconvenience).
I end up shopping at other local Ralphs and Albertsons a lot because going to this one is a drag. -

As one reviewer said, it's clean and there's not many people in the store. Why? Because COSTCO and Wal*Mart is eating their lunch! This store is beautiful inside. Clean, and has many products. However the PRICES are too HIGH! Take bread for example. I can pay through the nose at Albertson's for the same amount and type of bread I can get DOUBLE at Costco for a cheaper price.
Costco also has higher quality in their Kirkland Signature brands. For example, the Costco Kirkland Signature albacore tuna is the best one can get on the planet. It is a HUGE can and packed in water... not added brine or oil to try to add flavor. And, the Kirkland Signature tuna is pure, white, albacore tuna and Costco demands it be the best and made to THEIR specifications. Price the Costco tuna (and other similar products) vs. tuna sold at Albertson's and you'll quickly see why Costco is outselling them.
Meat? Again, Costco's hamburger has 12% fat. One can even get 9% fat content at Costco and it is of a higher quality. Similarly, look at the quality of Costco's steaks vs. those at Albertson's. Even in the USDA Choice grade there are variations. Costco's USDA Choice grade is right below Prime grade. I've NEVER had a bad steak from Costco and I've been buying from them for 24 years. On the other hand, I HAVE had a steak that was rubbery from Albertson's.
Albertson's has an advantage in that it sells more of a variety of products than Costco. However, I still buy 90% of my food stuff from Costco and will hit Trader Joe's, Albertson's and even Food 4 Less to make up the rest. These are usually specialty syrup's (Mom's molasses for example), sausage gravy powder in a small package, creamed chipped beef, and similar small products.
Albertson's doesn't get it (or maybe they do but can't afford it)... I mean if they would lower prices and cut out the loyalty card crap (where they can track your every purchase) I'd love to shop there. Lower prices, advertise like heck to get in new customers... then, like Costco, they wouldn't have to advertise much for customers in the future. You NEVER see big colored ad's in the newspaper or as flyers for Costco. Why? Because EVERYBODY knows they have high quality at good prices. And, they pay their employees a FAIR WAGE ($16~$17 per hour). Get with it Albertson's and I'll come back!
