Review from Christie I.
Long Beach, CA
Yup, this is my grocery store, and I love it! Good prices, great sales, coupons and incentive offers (I'm looking forward to getting my 1 cent frying pan very soon!), clean, fully stocked, conveniently located, easy parking, and friendly, professional staff. Let me emphasize the staff... because after dealing with the ridiculous checkers at the Von's on Ximeno, Albertson's takes the cake on customer service. I love the easy self-check out option for when I'm only picking up a few things. Also, I'm rarely hit up by solicitors outside, unlike Von's. Check plus.
What can I say? It's a grocery store -- nothing to get too excited about. But if you're looking for a good one, here ya go. -

I like this Albertsons. It used to be a Lucky store for the longest time.
It's a very big store in comparison to other stores I've been to. I like that it has a small Bank of America ATM machine inside. A Starbucks kiosk, Coinstar Machine,Red Box DVD rental and a Chinese fast food resto complete the rest of this grocery store. It has the usual deli, pharmacy and floral department along with meat and produce section. So nothing really more out of the ordinary.
It's a pretty clean store. And if I don't want to check out at a regular register, I can go through self check out. I almost forgot my $18 and some cents change when I did the self check out. But good thing I remembered and was able to run back into the store to retrieve it. Whew! That Dr. Pepper almost became a $20 drink! So don't forget your change.
I like that they offer you stickers to collect when you spend over $10 increments of grocery. A coworker of mine was able to collect a bunch and got a skillet. That's one pricey skillet because she needed 60 tix for it but she did put it into perspective and told me that she's spending it at the store anyways so she's getting a small reward for it. Makes sense. I now am collecting those stickers. So if you don't need it, I'll gladly take yours.
They recently had an incentive for buying GCs, for every $100 gift cards you buy Albertsons will give you $20 store coupon for groceries only. Hey not bad. Its the gift that keeps giving. Wifey bought a lot of GCs for gifts this year.
Parking can get a little busy and the driveway closest to the front of the store is pretty steep so watch your speed when entering cuz you're guaranteed to bottom out. Learn from my experience.
So I'm definitely a fan!Listed in: Dr. Pepper!

Wow! I love this albertsons. I have been shopping here since I had to involuntarily move to long beach back in 2003.
The newly remodeled look as of a year or so is very nice. I feel like I am shopping in a very fancy Bristol Farms, but without the Bristol Farms prices. The lighting is so modern.
During the holidays it smells just like the holidays should smell throughout the store! Like cinnamon! They sell these cinnamon broom thingies, and as soon as you walk in, you are hit with a one- two cinnamon punch! Ilove it!
In the summer, this is the best place to cool down if only for a moment while you shop.
The aisles are always clean. Food is always in it's place and well organized. Everything is always where it should be.
Parking is great....for ME! Because I always park as far and away as I can from all the chaos of the other cars and people in the lot closest to the burger place. Otherwise, the new parking lot in the front, can get kinda hectic.
Keep in mind that this is a small albertsons, at least compared to the other ones I have seen, and specially compared to the one in my hometown of whittier, but I'm used to it now. The employees are also friendly, and kind.
The only downfall to this store, which I guess is not really their fault but my own, is that we like to go shopping really late at night. Yeah, I hate crowds, and people in general, so for our weekly shopping trip, every two weeks, we shop around 8 or 9, and by then all the good romaine lettuce and good cilantro is gone. Bur other than that, this albertsons is awesome, and I love shopping here...really late at night...during the day, that is another story.
You got Milliken HS right up the street so you will definitely encounter a LOT of traffic and teenagers roaming about this shopping center, so pick your poison. I have, and it is a sweet, sweet, crowd free, late night poison..mmmmh.Listed in: Places I shop near my house!

This is 100% the best grocery store in Long Beach. Yep, no BS, THE BEST.
Massive selection of everything you could ever want, including a great deli, fruit and produce, foreign and specialty items, and beer, wine and liquor selection bigger than a liquor store. Add in an ATM, Starbucks, Redbox, and terrific staff and you have a winner.
For fellow beer lovers, this is one of the very few places in California where you can buy Dogfish Head beer. It's amazing; actually amazing isn't fair, it's uber FN Over 9000 amazing, and very hard to find. If you are shopping here and see this, please stop and buy some, you will not be disappointed. -

Very clean, newly remodeled store. Employees are great, in fact, they act like neighbors. If something's wrong with pricing or the product, they fix it right away and just out of inconvenience, make it up to you.
This would warrant a four-star review, but one thing stood out to me that persuaded me to tack on one extra star:
One of the workers looks like Ben from LOST (played by Michael Emerson). No joke. I was walking through an aisle and looking at the fine selection of bread when out of the corner of my eye, I saw him. Immediately I wanted to call out to Sawyer and Jack, but realized that it would be a mistake since Ben's "others" might be lurking in the next aisle over. I quickly made my selection (grabbed a high-fiber loaf) and walked away...I glanced around to see if Kate was there so I could ask her out (and tell her that the island is just a complicated sham), but I couldn't spot her.
In the end, I checked out, looked back and saw Ben standing there, working, pretending he's off the island...but we all know...you can't escape the island.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I have to agree with Daniel O. on this one. This particular Albertsons is one of the best grocery stores around. It has great lighting, always very clean and organized and you can't beat the staff. This is not even my neighborhood market, but I certainty come here a lot. I have come here with my kids and people will come out of nowhere with a coupon for a free cookie or banana, I even saw Santa pop out of an aisle and offer to take down my daughter's Christmas wish! This Albertsons is really something special. And you can't beat the location...right next to Grounds! My only complaint is that the fruit is not the best here, I go to sprouts or the farmer's market for fruit.

Sometimes it's an odd thing that will put me off from a business. In this case, the parking lot is a disaster. It doesn't seem to be properly aligned to the average size SUV turning into a space or getting out of a space. There are useless islands all over this lot that have really jacked up driving through and make the lanes congested. The only place it hasn't been screwed up is parking in the back of the store. But who would want to park behind a store? The inside is okay, its a grocery store. But I just don't need another scratch or dent from a parking lot.

I know; it's a freaking Pharmacy. But when your daughter is ill and the doctor doesn't call in the necessary prescription until 8:30,you get a little excited.
So the Pharmacist working at Sav-on inside the albertsons market promptly and professionally answers my questions, and processes everything within 3 minutes. I look at the clock and it is AFTER closing hours. She didn't have to do this, but she did. And this is why I gave the Sav-on Pharmacy 5 stars. And the Pharmacist that I usually deal with is also courteous, prompt and professional. He never seems to be in a hurry, even if an elderly person is poking me in the buttocks with his cane for me to hurry up. (That didn't come out the way I wanted but it sounds funny!).
As a parent in this desperate situation, I fully appreciate it when humans follow through and do their job efficiently. This was not for my sanity but for my daughters pain relief. What a blessing! So check the Pharmacy out and give theim lots of business. They have never failed me in the past 17 years. -

At the check-out I mentioned the avocados were very soft. Since they had so many maybe they should put them on sale. The checker called the produce guy and as soon as I said avocados he knew what I was talking about. He then said hang on, walked over to the firm avocados and GAVE me two! He gave me a brief explanation on CA avos VS out of country avos and sent me on my happy way. Very Cool!!

My grocery store. Yes, it's mine. I'm taking credit for finding it. There are other grocery stores in my 'hood, but I prefer this one bar none because it's clean...generally speaking. I think they can improve the meat department since it occasionally has a stench and I would prefer more selection in this area. I enjoy cooking ethnic food and I am pleased that they have enough variety here that I don't need to go to specialty stores for ingredients. The produce is fresh and clean. There are lot to choose from when it comes to breads and desserts. The ready-to-eat meals are delicious and fresh. Gosh, how many times am I going to say fresh? But they are! But the best part is the staff. They're friendly, helpful, and efficient. And they're very consistent in this area.

This is definitely the nicest Albertsons I've been to. On the westside, they are kind of dumpy and ghetto, but this one is as nice as Pavilions. It's well stocked and huge, plus there's a pharmacy and a very nice deli and bakery. Why can't all Albertsons be this nice?

Rossmoor residents were sad to see the old Albertson's demolished. I was a regular customer at the old Albertson's and visited this one a time or two after the demise of the old store. There were too many people with little kids running around and getting into things, so my experiences at this particular store were not pleasant. The prices seemed higher with the change as well. I have become a regular Ralph's and Sprouts shopper now.

This is my other grocery store, it's by my fav. dry cleaner. I also saved my stickers awhile back and got some new cookware for .01.
