This place was 3 stars in my book until they recently started selling craft beer. Craft beer + fresh sushi + fatty steaks = 4 star grocery store... Yes that is essentially my diet.

I had to stop shopping at this Albertsons due to their ignorance of changing out their sale prices. I would think that something is on sale because their is a sale tag then checkout to find out this was last weeks sale. HUH?
Secondly they sell rotten meat. Its a shame because they were a neighborly market.
I can't waste any more gas or time there.
Yes I gave them 1 star but they deserve ZERO stars -

I don't like customer service at all. The old guy that took was servicing the lotto tickets was so rude that I walked out without a purchase and I will not go back there again.

Albertsons on Alton
Overall
4 Stars
Gold Medal - Fresh cut FAT Steaks
Silver Medal - Fresh Chicken wings
Bronze Medal - Plenty of parking
This Albertson has the best cut steaks. They can cut you a FAT steak like the ones you get in Vegas. 2 inches thick. All you have to do is tell the butcher. " Give me a FAT 2 inch Steak please!"
This location also has a deli and hot foods section where they sell chicken wings by the lb. If you come during lunch or peak times the wings are tasty and juicy! I recommend the honey wings.
There is plenty of parking in this Albertson's plaza. I hate it when the plaza has bad parking causing you to fight for a parking space or hike to the market. Not here!
The prices at Albertsons is more expensive than other nearby super markets, like 99 Ranch Market and Wholesomes Choice.
Cheapest to most expensive nearby super markets:
-Chinese Super Markets (ex. Ranch 99 Market)
-Korean Super Market (ex. H Mart, Fresia)
-Indian Super Market (ex. Wholesomes Choice)
-American Super Market (ex. Ralphs, Albertsons)
With the extra dollars paid the produce also comes cleaner, so the ranking from cheapest to most expensive also means cleanest to dirtiest produce.
When I buy spinach at Ranch 99 Market, I need to wash the spinach about 4 time to get it clean and my sink is full of dirt. When I buy spinach from Wholesomes Choice, I wash it about 3 times and there is some dirt in the sink. When I buy spinach from Albertsons the spinach is clean already and just needs a rinsing.
Price difference is about 4 times more at Albertsons for spinach than at Ranch 99 Market.
So I guess the real question here is, "Would you rather take the time to wash your spinach 4 times more or pay 4 times more the price for your spinach?"
HAPPY STEAKING!! -

This store seems to have most everything you'd want. Except good attitudes.
I walked in for the first time today and, as you do with any grocery store the first time you visit it, had to search for the items I wanted. I couldn't find salsa after walking down every aisle. I finally asked someone who directed me to the other side of the store where I found refrigerated deli salsa. Unfortunately I was looking for a jar of salsa since I was going to be driving around for a few hours running errands and wasn't buying any refrigerated groceries. I thought I'd ask again and be more specific this time. I didn't see anyone so I walked up to the cashier area where one checker was standing alone at her register.
Me: Excuse me, may I ask you...
Her (interrupting): I'm closed.
Me: Oh, yes, I see but I just wanted to ask if you know where...
Her (interrupting again): I said I'm closed.
Nice customer service. I decided to forget the salsa and got in line to check out, where I experienced another cashier who was equally cranky (I'm using a nice term).
I won't shop here again. -
Review from Judi S.
This location of Albertson's is different from any other Albertson's Grocery Store I've been to:
I'm used to the Sav-On part of the store being located on the far left in the front, but here, that's where the liquor dept is.
...and in this store, there are more varieties of boxed wine than I think 'wino world' (totally said with affection for the place - love it), sorry, umm Total Wines and More has for sale.
...and in this store, there is not one long aisle, most are broken in half.
...and in this store, there is a huge section of groceries from around the world: Japanese, Chinese, England, India, Mexican, English, Kosher plus organic.
...and in this store I found Delish and Tampico bulk spices across from eachother on end caps. Get your white pepper here.
...and in this store I found Ball pickling gear in two different sections of the store.
...and in this store, they have the vegetarian and organic freezer food across from the deli aisle.
...and in this store, they sell singles of the Mexican versions of many American sodas made with real sugar
...and in this store where they used to have a branch of Bank of America and now they have a branch of Orange Counties Federal Credit Union.
It just plain needs to be remodeled to bring it up-to-date. -

This Albertsons is unlike any other because of its store hours, the merchandise, and the service. I enjoy being able to go grocery past the usual 9pm closing while others wait for the next day. I would drive any distance if there was a 24hr Albertsons, but til than this place will do.
Inside they have an array of goodies: starbucks, deli (good sandwiches), sushi-to-go (yes, they do!), and beautiful flower/balloons to choose from. For those hello kitty lovers, I found balloons here!! Not to forget, the large balloons that play music when hit. Loove it!
As for food, they have it all. My favorite V8 drink (mango/peach). Forget the V8 drink in the can those taste horrible!! The new improved V8 drinks are great and offer different flavors. It is a must try!! If that does not satisfy your taste buds, the selection of beverages are endless.
Employees are younger than your usual 30 and above group, but they get the work done. The secret to this Albertsons must be to hire only the best.
The reason I only gave four stars are due to my dislikes:
- small bathroom (literally!)
my reasoning: to make room for more merchandise and less clean-up time. for those that require more space when using the restroom, expect no success in these 3 stalls.
- cuties (small mandarin oranges) taste horrible. its suppose to be sweet!! but the ones here must be the rejects.
my reasoning: no one buys them
- starbucks has a different taste with each barista
my reasoning: no comment
*** prices are extremely expensive, due to its location *** be warned. -

This Albertsons location is okay. I personally prefer the one on campus drive better they have better deals I feel like that is more college student friendly. For example they put monster energy drinks on sale during finals week and aims more towards the college students unlike this location.
This location I feel caters more to the family needs which is fine but being a college student myself I much rather want to go to the one on campus drive when I can.
Like all supermarkets somethings can get on the pricer end. However, I still find more things cheeper at Albertsons that I do at the Target next to this Albertsons location on Barranca.
Overall this Albertsons location is fine but for me personally I have experienced a better one that caters to me as a college student better. -

This is a reliable supermarket as the shelves are always replenished. The availability of various items are also good.
The staff is younger at this particular location and as I was checking-out the cashier shouts, "two walking in" to the bagger. I look to see what he was referring to and of course he was concerned with the two Asian women who walked through the automatic doors. Really? He was married too. Trifling. X_X
Boo! Shame on You!

What can I say - it's an average big chain supermarket. Service is hit and miss and prices are too.
Thus, split the rating in the middle and you have - 3 stars! -

I'm only stoked about Albertsons because they are doing the stickers for pots and pans deal - and yes, I am collecting them. It goes until January 2011, you get a sticker every $10 you spend, and with a minimum of 50 stickers you can get a pan for 1 cent. OR you can spend a little money + stickers and get a pan that way too.
No, I don't always shop at Albertsons, but I do have 50 stickers now - and yes possibly its because people feel badly for me and have been giving me more stickers for my purchases.
Muahaha.
Either way, I'm onto some new pots and pans. Don't judge me. -

After recently moving into the area, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. The prices are so high, my choice is to go to the supermarket I used to shop at. It costs at least 0.20 higher for apples than other supermarkets. The selection is ok.
If you try to use the self-checkout and have a lot of groceries, forget it. We brought our own bags and that was a problem too. I think it took twice as long to check out with the self-checkout than with a cashier. It would give you messages like "unexpected item in bagging area."
I would only go to Albertsons if I need to get a small amount of groceries in a hurry. Otherwise, I would rather go to Ralphs or Stater Bros. -

They sold me expired dried blueberries. I didn't realize it until I ate one and then on the bag it said August 2009. I went to exchange them, and they were all expired. =(
I go here for their RedBox machine. =) -

I do want to thank you for this little gem http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Batter Blaster you are true innovation in the pancake/waffle making world. Amazingly perfect pancakes you make and you're organic!
You can find it next to the Eggology in the egg section and for only $4! -
Review from Yuki M.
Wide aisles, well stocked, somewhat organized and clean.
Came here for salad ingredients and wandered around the rows for a few minutes to see what this store had in store for me.
Large selection of health foods and organic items. Big surprised right? It's Irvine.
Clean produce section with NO BABY ARUGULA, though they seem to have everything else.
What won me over was the fact that their banana stand has varying degrees of ripeness, and I can find the greenest of bananas here. They are even sectioned off by colour. I've never seen this in any other grocery store of any chain so this detail pushes this place up to 4 stars.
How's that for a totally biased review? -

I don't like customer service at all. Paul who treated me rudely and didn't allow me to make even exchange. My son visited for 2 days and left.
I bought few frozen entries for him that I had to returned and exchange with something else. He didn't allow me to do it. He was disrespectful and told me that we don't allow to do that. That is not true - my friend told me he didn't know how to do his job at customer service. She returned many times cereal that kids didn't like and pick up something else.
Paul is not qualified to be at the customer service. -

I come to this Albertson's the most cuz it's closest to my apartment and I know where to find everything in this huuge supermarket. The meats, fruits/veggies, deli, and bakery are on the left as you enter. The wines and frozen foods are on the right.
I come here often for their Rotisserie Chicken... so good! I usually get the garlic and herb one, but they also have BBQ, Chipotle Lime, and Salt & Pepper. Their rotisserie chicken is waaaay better than Ralph's (dry and too salty) or Costco. 95% of the time it is perfectly hot, tender, moist, and juicy. You really can't go wrong with Albertson's Rotisserie Chicken if you want a quick fixin' (not to mention CHEAP) dinner! -
Review from Jesse D.
Being from Boise (the home of the original Albertson's) I am a fan! This Albertson's is fully stocked and always seems moderately "unbusy." The staff is always friendly and eager to ask if there is anything they can do to help. I have been in a grocery store or two in my time so the answer is typically no... however, I appreciate the effort and the gesture! Between this Alby's and the one closest my pad on Harbor, my needs (grocery needs) are completely met!

Review from Luanna Y.
This is the closest supermarket to my apartment. After today's experience, I may start going to Ralphs up the street.
The selection in this market is pretty decent. I was able to find everything on my grocery list without much of a problem, except for my Barbara's Puffins cereal - I guess this brand is only a staple at Ralphs? I also couldn't find any fresh ciabatta bread in their bakery section. Well my mild annoyance was briefly assuaged by their amazing looking produce. I love me some yummy, fresh bananas and apples.
Everything was going ok (like 3-star okay) until I went to check out. There were 2 lanes open. I quickly assessed the situation and picked the line I thought would move the fastest. I load up my groceries onto the conveyer belt and wait my turn. Well, lo and behold, the lady-with-a-moustache (yes, she really had a full on moustache - I was pretty entranced) in front of me starts arguing with the cashier about how her cucumbers are supposed to be $1.29, not $1.59 per lb. Keep in mind that this woman was only buying 2 baby cucumbers - so she's arguing over like 15 cents here. This scenario turns into a 15-20 minute debacle whereby the cashier had to call up the produce people who then had to call the manager. Well after finally confirming the price, this tidbit of information did the cashier absolutely no good because she apparently didn't know how to enter the price into the machine. After nearly causing a meltdown because she was pressing so many random buttons on the register, she finally just charged the lady just $1 (because somehow the machine accepted that number??). During this whole thing, the aforementioned lady with a moustache was loudly chewing ice cubes from a paper cup with her mouth open - thus spewing wet slobber and ice chips around herself in a 2 foot radius. I had to back up to avoid the spewing. Finally, moustache lady got her groceries and was leaving when - Oh Noes - she realized that the cucumbers are charged twice on there. -_- So she comes back to the cashier who was now ringing up my groceries to get her $1-something refunded to her. OMG... I'm seriously about to blow a fuse.
FINALLY after spending over 20minutes in the checkout line, my stuff gets rung up. I pay and then look over to realize that nobody had been bagging my items. The cashier realizes this at the same time, quickly grabs my stuff to throw them in some plastic bags and then pushes them off to the side (while ignoring me) so she can continue to ring up customers behind me. Ummmm... Okay?? So I end up having to grab a cart and load up the cart with my groceries myself. I'm not one of those girls that refuses to lift a finger - I don't mind packing up my own groceries, but an "Oh sorry, we're a little busy today, could you lend a hand?" from the cashier would've been the polite thing to do. AWFUL customer service.
I get back to my car hoping to put this terrible experience behind me when I realize that eggs that I had purchased had cracked (probably due to the cashier's rough handling of my items) and were leaking inside one of the plastic bags....... just one of those days, I swear. -

My bride and I went there to Albertsons a couple of weeks ago. We had like 5 million coupons, and Albertsons sent double coupons in the mail, so we saved a ton. The store clerk was super nice, and patient with us. Thank you Albertsons! Please send out more double coupons!!!

This Albertson's location is now open until midnight, so that's a plus! It's conveniently located a street down from my house so I always come here. The price's on items are usually reasonable but I can usually find better prices and deals and other supermarkets such as Ralph's just down the street. But make sure to check weekly ads because they can have some good deals on poultry!

Had a good experience at this Albertsons. Staff was friendly and they had a good selection of almost everything.
To much of my surprise, this place has a great selection of wine and liquor (for supermarkets). It seems like this place is definitely trying to make things a one stop shop. Between this place and Whole Foods, I won't need to shop anywhere else. *2 thumbs up* -

Albertson's is decent for shopping, but it can be a little slow... and it'd be nice if it were 24 hours for us students living in the apartments nearby.
The main issue is the automated checkout system. It's glitchy and unreliable, and it's about as fast as getting someone to check you out in the old way because they have to fix the system half the time you use it.
The food they sell is good, it's a grocery store... nothing you wouldn't get anywhere else. -
Review from Will M.
On Saturday, the 13th of February, I was just in here to stop at the in-store Starbucks for a latte and pick up some laundry detergent. But when I walked in, the entry lobby was transformed into the most shameless Valentines Day store I have ever seen a grocery store. The marketing guy must've worked overtime with love in his wallet. You could be the most clueless guy in the world, and realize, "Uh oh, it must be Valentine's. I better pick one of these 500 baloons. one of 1000 boxes of chocolate, and one of 1000 flowers!
Thes clumps of helium red and white oval and heart shaped ballons floating on the ceilings, next to the display cases, on the fxtures holding stacked boxes of candies, wines and champagnes, and on the hundreds of live orchids, azaleas, mini roses, gardenias, etc. Everything musti've covered the square footage of a florist or two, a Sees candy shop, and a liquor store.. I took pictures, but you really had to see it to appreciate it. And the piece de resistance - the two ladies specifically hired to make white chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolate dipped strawberries packed to go. One woman told the berry dippers "I'm buying one pack for me to eat in the car because my husband wants me to lay off the chocolates!.
During the other holidays, you'll only see less than half of this area with speical seasonal displays here. Otherwise, it's just another grocery store.
I did buy my ALL detergent at $1.50 off for being an Albertson's cardholder. I also realized I needed some wood hangers. The first stockboy who knew I was lost and searching said, "May I help you?" He told me exactly where they were. So, I found 16 boxed for a listed price of $12.99. Great deal right? They're usually two or more bucks a piece. So, I walk into the self check line. I scanned the detergent, done. I scanned the hangers, and it priced itself as $3.00. Huh? Something is wrong here, isn't it? But the guy behind me was impatiently waiting for me to finish, so I paid and left. Outside, I looked at the receipt, and it said, Dorm Life 12 Hangers...$3.00. I put the stuff in my car, and went back to get the five remaining boxes of 16 hangers. I like a great deal if I'll eventually use it, even thought I got some stares.. And if anyone would've asked if I had some kind of weird hanger fetish, I would've said "yes but just the part that sticks out. Also, I am a member of the Joan Crawford "Mommie Dearest" fanclub." (In that movie, JC screamed and spazzed out that her daughter used trailer park worthy wire hangers to hang expensive clothes LOL)1 Previous Review: Show all »

As Albertsons goes, this location is ok. It's bigger and has a wider selection than the location by UCI. It's also less busy without the UCI crowd. Being an Albertsons, it's still really overpriced, but when I need something that I can't get at another store, I can usually find it here.

A 3.5/4 star place. Clean, well lit and my usual grocery shopping place. The only bad experience I had here was with the fruit, my roommate bought blackberries here and halfway through eating them she found out there were little bugs in all the berries, like maggots crawling around and in the berries. So gross!! I would watch out on the fruit when you buy it. Prices are like any major grocery store and I usually wait for deals on items. The people who work here are really nice and helpful, cheerier than most I have usually seen and they do a great job at keeping the shelves stocked.

This is a good Albertson's. I don't know why, but Albertson's seems more friendly that Vons and Ralph's. I think it's the color. Blue and white is nice on the eyes. They have everything you need for the times you forget to get something like milk from Costco.

I go to this Albertson's all the time because it's open past 10 pm, and so far it's been pleasant. I really only buy food and other items when they are on sale (make sure to get a ClubCard) here, or if I have a coupon. (Hey, I'm a grad student :p). I have always encountered friendly, upbeat service. However, today really made me want to leave a great review on here- I purchased some frozen dinners earlier in the day, and I noticed that I paid more for them than what the coupon stated, so I went back to resolve the issue. At the customer service desk, a young man named Joshua showed me why I didn't get the coupon price- because I was 75 cents short of the $10 minimum purchase necessary for the coupon to work. Nonetheless, he said he would give me a cash refund for the amount I would have paid if the coupon had gone through, even though it was my own fault. It is this experience that will make me return to this location.

OMG Karl makes the best Italian submarine sandwich I've ever had this far away from NYC!!! it's only $5 too and it's made with REAL meat, not like that wholesale stuff at Subway. Also super convenient shopping center with dry cleaning and Bank of America. Next time you're shopping here and thinking about what to eat for dinner make sure you stop by and see if Karl is working the deli, he'll hook it up.
