A friend and I had a nice meal here the other day. I ordered the Cajon burrito which is basically a breakfast burrito and he ordered 3 of the chicken big rolled tacos.
My burrito was very good. It came with bacon, eggs, beans, and cheese. Everything was cooked well. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) It could of used a little more crispy bacon. The burrito cost $4.75. My said his rolled tacos were great. They were generously filled with shredded chicken. The guacamole was fresh and plentiful. The rolls cost $4.65. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)
The place was clean and the employees really friendly and polite. -

If you happen to amble into Albert's, you're morally obligated to get the El Grande. The aptly titled burrito shovels eggs, mounds of bacon, hearty wedges of potatoes, and a liberal amount of regret between two fluffy tortillas. It's like an artillery shell of protein and fat.
Despite me loving this place, there are a couple of problems. The cashiers at the counter can be a little curt, hurried, perpetually flustered. Often times I feel like I'm speaking to a guillotine.
Second, their salsa bar causes unnecessary confusion and elicits sanitation problems. Because the taco shop wants people to refrain from wasting salsa - there is a sign that stresses this, complete with extraneous exclamation marks - they do not supply bags or cups on the counter of their condiment area. Because of this, dirty people with their Nosferatu-like fingers pluck and eat carrots right above the salsa station. This would be cool if I didn't mind people spraying their saliva all over. The woman I watched the other day looked like a lawn sprinkler in shoes. Please, put some some plastic salsa cups on the counter top to prevent this.
Other than these issues, the food is constantly amazing. The burritos are huge, the rolled tacos are the size of femur bones, and the menu is pretty diverse. Now if we can get rid of the R. Lee Ermey cosplay by the workers and the DNA convention near the salsa bar and we'll be set. -

This is a VERY consistent Mexican food, it is always fresh and has GREAT flavor. The surf n turf burrito is my favorite but have been happy with all my selections here, the staff is very nice and friendly I luv this place!!!
The surf & turf burrito is my fav! It has Carne Asada and BIG Shrimp that give this burrito a nice crunch, rice and a nice cream sauce. It is good size and ALWAYS fresh, the restaurant is clean and staff friendly. I have had several different dishes here and they never disappoint! If you want good quality Mexican food at a good price this is the place!!!1 Previous Review:

After looking at their menu online I liked what I saw with their different types of burrito combinations. I decided to try their El Cap burrito ($6.45). This burrito which has both carne , pollo asada, beans, rice cheese, and a sour cream sauce.
Wow for $6.45 for a burrito with double meat you think it would be huge, large , ginormous, maybe a 2 lbs! Well not even close ! The burrito with all these ingredients was normal size , and I weighted it came in at 1.19lbs , most burritos are a pound. Lame, at Lolita's their monster burrito under $6 is twice the size or bigger and only has one type of meat.
The burrito was a average burrito , which sounds better then delivered and with all these ingredients involved you would think that it would be bigger than a burrito half the price.
If you want to pay to much for a burrito that is no better than any other taco shop by all means check this place out.Listed in: Burrito shops shops shops…

I was sceptical when my sister told me about this place. It sits in a 7-11 parking lot... Clean place with awsome food.

This is my favorite "quick" Mexican place in San Diego (East County). Their prices are decent, portions are great, and food is always fresh and delicious. They are much better than their competitor across the street.

The El Capitan is awesome!!! I just moved to Lakeside and found this little gem. I have only had take-out but I hear the dining-in experience is top-notch.

Very good. The rolled tacos have real shredded beef not some ground beef and rice mash. Takes a while to get your food but calling ahead solves that. Enjoy!

There are a MILLION taco shops out there, so I know I shouldn't say "this is the best mexican joint ever", but I will!! Not only is the menu huge, so you have lots of choices, but everything that I've ever ordered tastes FRESH and not greasy!! I really like the fact that they have "lettuce wraps" which means you get all the yumminess of carne asada or pollo asada tacos without all the carbs!!

Consistantly the best taco shop out there! I even rank this one above about 95% of the sit-down mexican spots. The food is flavorful & fresh and when you order a chicken burrito, it's ALL white meat! The salsa bar is limited, but what is there has wonderful flavor as opposed to your standard taco shop "hot sauce". The other reviewer suggested that the service had declined since the shop first opened, but that hasn't been our experience at all. The girls are friendly and always willing to accomodate whatever we ask, and are ALWAYS sweet to our daughter. We eat at this Alberts and the one on Jamacha towards Rancho San Diego at least once a week.

When this Albert's first opened the service was GREAT. The owner would even be walking around and make sure that you were satisfied. After a few months of it being opened, my experiences started getting worse. Until the last time I ever went there with my boyfriend and we both put in our order and sat down and he never got his food. Then we find out the lady didnt even put it in after she repeated it back to us! So he put in his order AGAIN and she repeated it back to him correctly and when he got his food it was something completely different. Not to mention that we were using a coupon and we didnt even get our discount.

5 stars for lakeside mexican food. great prices & extensive menu. their novelty is 'big rolled tacos'--never seen a fat, stuffed huge rolled taco like this & very tasty. only been here once, but could eat every meal here(if i lived nearby & i wouldn't grow extremely fat). cerviche tostada above average & carne asada torta a tasty deal at $4.65. authentic. i dig it.

The food here is SOOOOO good! The menu is huge and they always have specials going. Whether your having a breakfast burrito, rolled tacos, "lettuce wraps" or anything else on the menu, you won't be disappointed. The food always test fresh and of a good quality. There is something about their tortillas that is super addicting. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the service. Whenever the owner helps me she is so genuine and nice, but there are a few younger kids that work the front counter and take orders that are less to be desired. They are a little rude when you are placing and order on the phone, and the arent any more welcoming when you come into the shop either. Overall, I love this place, it is clean, the salas are great, and the food is amazing. Even better, there is one right by my house in lakeside, and one right by my mom's house in rancho san diego. Now I never have to miss out on the goodness!
