Go to place for late night cravings since it is open 24 hours. Super nachos with carne asada, delish. It is not authentic Mexican food but it kills the craving or when other places are closed.
Tried their burritos and flautos. Not bad but other places in the area are better but don't open late. -
Review from Paul K.
So my expectations of this place have changed. The last few times I came in, they totally fucked up my order. I asked for a super burrito with fish. I said it twice. So why am I getting a bean and cheese burrito and then getting charged the price of the first item?
After waiting at the window another 5 minutes, they still screw up. And then they charge me the price of a large drink for a medium drink. I had to argue with the guy in Spanish just so he could give me a partial refund. I like the brand, but not this location, so I'm hesitant to go back, unless a different crew is working.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Albertos Authentic Mexican Food
Authentic?
REALLY?
Greasy and overpriced must have not fit on the sign.
I went here because my friend kept telling me that its in Pomona and it sells tacos... (see my Pomona Taco Tour list)
Yes its also a chain and I dont really "do " many chains
So to shut him up I went to this one. (HAPPY??)
Got to order at the seemingly bulletproof front counter where the cashier seemed bored out of her mind.
Got my tacos and I decided to get fries for some reason. Im Irish its what we do.
First brilliant move. My taco was shoved out and before I could ask about the fries they were gone.
Fries came later and were boiling hot and still covered in oil....yum.
Everything here was so greasy fake and manufactured? Yeah Im going with manufactured.
Even the workers didnt want to be there.
Im off to get some real tacosListed in: Taco Craving, Gold Medal in Shittiness, Pomona Taco Tour!

My faaaaaaaaaavorite location to get some bomb late night eats!! It's one of the cheaper Alberto's for their infamous Carne Asada Fries aka Super Fries. It's also the first Alberto's I've ever been to, so I'm definitely a fan. There's an Alberto's a couple miles away from my house in San Gabriel, but I'd rather come to this Pomona location because I know I'll definitely be satisfied with my orders. Taquitos with guac are bomb, too!! Yumm
It's basically the only thing that's really lit in the block, so beware. It's kind of scary at night, too. Just don't get shot. -

Their sausage breakfast burrito really hits the spot after raging office parties at a friend/workmate's house in the area.
It's just the right amount of egg, meat, and cheese wrapped in a soft tortilla that melts in your mouth and fills your torrential tummy for a mere $3.50 at 3 in the morning.
I don't think I've ever been here when the dining room was open, but thankfully the service at the drive-thru has been relatively quick in the middle of the night. -
Review from Audrey C.
I've always been a fan of Alberto's for two reasons:
1. Good cheap mexican food (easy favorite: carne asada fries)
2. 24 hours!
I was looking for a location near Claremont because some friends were going that direction and the other places' reviews mentioned diarrhea (HAHAH) so I decided to go to this one. Good choice! As good as I remember it -
Review from Corey P.
I use to have this perception that this place was reallllllllly good, regardless of circumstance. I came here with two friends thinking they had some kind of deal on Wednesday after reading the reviews on Yelp. We were wrong. Food is pricey, no free chips, salsa bar is extremely limited. My friends ordered the 5 rolled up tacos for $4.99 and I got the super fries for $5.49.
I had one of their tacos and it was like eating frozen food. It was absolutely flavorless and having the lettuce, onions, and guacamole on top just gave it an unappetizing mixed texture. My super fries were slightly better. The high fat content with the sour cream, guacamole, and cheese definitely make it a customer favorite. I'm positive the super fries would taste best if I were drunk and it was 2 AM in the morning. I see why they're open 24 hours a day.
Sitting and eating inside the place wasn't that enjoyable either. It was really cold outside and equally as cold inside. My friend who was eating looked miserable the entire time. I felt bad for suggesting this place because it wasn't ultimately enjoyable. If it's 4 AM and I drunk as hell, I MIGHT come back. -

Dislikes: tacos were yuck.. shell was too hard, overall tasted like frozen food, condiments didn't even taste good with it and was cold. so it was like eating something hard that's hot inside and then covered with cold stuff. -

What happen to this place it use to be good. I ordered the mochaca and it taste like nothing. Their was really no taste to it i had to poor green chilly to give it taste. At least the Jamaica taste good.
Had the same complaint from my friends with their food did not taste good. They also had to poor the chilly over their food to give it some flavor.
I wont come here ever again food just sucked, instead i will be going to Alfredos its much better. -

This review is soley based on my chicken quesadilla. The service was ok, like anyother place. Descent amount of seating and a TV.
I have to admit, the quesadilla pretty much sucked! Yes, it was a large flour tortilla. Yes, it was oozing with cheese, but fucking come on canned chicken?! That sh!t taste like canned tuna! Sometimes quantity just doesn't make up for it. I'll stick to my Alfredo's in Baldwin Park on Ramona! Read Charly B's review on it. Sorry Prinsesa Val, I know you like Alberto's on Azusa, but try my Alfredo's or Taco Grille in Glendora.
Now, I gota work off junk food that I didn't even enjoy (*pissed*) -

The gigantic cheap carne asada burrito (that I swear is over a foot long) is one of the tastiest around. Good quality meet, perfect proportions, and the staff is friendly. Love Alberto's for late nights and in need a good food!

I used to love Albertos breakfast burritos.. a long time ago.. when anything tasted good.
I had a plain old carne asada taco.. it was nothing I would order again. Too much onions, too big, and the tortilla was gross. Meh.
Alfredos is much better. -

I agree with the last review poor service and questionable food. Isn't Mexican food supposed to be flavorful?. If I wanted dry chicken I would go to my refrigerator for leftovers. Been and rice? You mean lard. My wife likes the shrimp(sometimes) or I would never go back.

Review from Javier J.
"Can I get a shrimp burrito with only shrimp in it?"
Seems like an odd request but sure enough at 3 am the terribly broken microphone system at Alberto's answers back with
"Only tortilla and shrimp, Ok. What else?"
A man has to be brave, especially after a night of drinking and being at a computer cafe playing nothing but Counter Strike and Battlefield 1942. Not the normal combination that one would put together, but none the less, killing those terrorist and stopping Hitler at his own game builds up an appetite.
"Super nachos, please"
"Ok, what else?"
What else?! Isn't that enough? I have to pause for a minute. Do I go for that stuffed churro also? No, I'm already asking for trouble with the super nachos. A man does a lot of wild things at 3am. Attempting this much food at that hour can only lead to heart aches.. But you put yourself through that.
Alberto's. It's the Jack Kevorkian of the late night food industry. A sort of assisted suicide. Everywhere you look you're bound to see at least one. Offering their only slightly different, but much the same menu.
Super Nachos.. what a novel idea. Let's take regular nachos and make them super. What does this supering do? Well, it makes them insanely large and oh that much less healthy. But by god they are good.
I have never finished a super nachos by myself. I'm sure I can do it, but you have to show some restraint or you'll cross the line and have to eat nothing but beans for the week as a form of detox it all from your system.
This location is the first Alberto's I ever tried and it was during my heavy late night gaming phase. I have fond memories of this location. In all its busted up glory, it provided some of the best food late at night and always service with a smile. They tossed more packs of salsa in the bag than I ever could use. Always able to make my food as I wished. I can't say much bad about this place but the look may turn you off a bit. -

best. shrimp. burrito. EVER.
that's all you really need to know, but i'll elaborate anyway. since quitting meat (and giving up a mean carne asada burrito addiction) over a year ago, i began to despise all the ghetto mexican take out joints and drive-thrus i once loved. all my friends recommended the molca salsa shrimp burrito and after being disappointed by it and a few others, i had all but given up hope. until one fateful drunken night when i was handed an alberto's shrimp burrito and all was right again. this burrito has the perfect ratio of shrimp to other filling and is just spicy enough and not too saucy.
oh. alberto's also wins the prize for slowest. drive-thru. ever. but it's totally worth the wait so go try their shrimp burrito and for you carnivores...carne asada super nachos! -

I used to like Alberto's ..... but then I grew up.
3 rolled tacos with guacamole, carne asada burrito - and if u want all meat they charge u extra, torta milanesa - oh wait they don't even serve milanesa - and this is supposed to be authentic mexican food.
safe to say, it wasn't my choice to stop here. but my friend lives near by and we (my bro drove) had to drop him off at home. 2 stars just for being open after a long night of drinking. food and service - I've experienced better. I heard this from another yelper and I agree 'carne asada kinda tastes like cardboard'
no albertos for me anymore - as long as I have a say in where to eat. -

Review from Gary T.
My gf and I had just flown into town to visit my fam and we needed some food before going to the hotel. We decided upon here due to it's proximity and convenience of being open late.
My gf ordered a carne asada wet burrito and I got the two beef burrito combo with rice and beans. Her food came as ordered and was pretty good too. The rice and beans were really good, but my burritos had been sabotaged! I specifically asked what came in them and the cashier said "meat", I know next time to ask "puro carne". To my disappointment it also came with a shitload of red & green bell peppers and onions. Sad burritos. :'-( For the most part a good authentic Mexican meal with the exception of way too many veggies.
On a higher note, we returned the following evening and got two of the biggest quesadillas I've ever attempted to load into my pie hole, complete with meat! I didn't shoot myself in the foot with that order.
Super cheap, really filling, homemade tortillas, eat here! -

I'm not sure why Alberto's get such rave reviews. Most of their food is mediocre with the exception of the carnitas burrito.
typically both their carnes asada and pollo is dry and tasteless. When ordering the dinner plates, the tortillas are usually a bit on the dry side.
The carnitas burrito is well done though. it's a perfect mix of slightly pork (with some fat on it), onions, tomatoes, cilantro and guacamole. they provide a salsa roja and a verde with the burritos (you don't get salsa verde with other non pork dishes).
it's open 24/7 and it's cheap and it's got good carnitas burritos.. but what else is good about it? Little else. -

The original Alberto's are still in Escondido CA, but there are so many rip offs, like albertaco, alberta's agiberto, and even albertos, they even use the same colors! Much like the orginal Tommy's chili burger chain there are a lot of copy cats. Except the copy cats of Alberto's don't taste bad.
I like the carne asad burrito the best and used to eat them when I was a truck driver every time I went to San Diego co.
The tortillas are fresh cooked on the grill and steak is chopped up nice and tender and scooped right on tortilla. -

Los Angeles, CA
Alberto's is rad because the drive-thru is open 24 hours. It's your standard Mexican taqueria and there's not much that's special about it except a handful of things.
Alberto's has things like Carne Asada fries which are exactly what they sound like -- fries covered up like nachos. I've never had these, I've only seen them and I was both amazed and frightened.
I tend to stick with the close relatives of carne asada fries, the super nachos. Super nachos are the kind of nachos that don't mess around with weird stuff. There are no foofy vegetables, only the essentials -- chips, cheese, beans, carne asada, guacamole, and sour cream. And they're HUGE. It's an entire take-out box of nachos. And it's FULL OF CARNE. This is seriously the most intense, life-changing nacho experience you will ever have. And the nachos are around $5! My friend Brett likes to make them "healthy" (hardy har har) by requesting a buttload of pico de gallo on the nachos. I totally approve of this and highly reccomend it.
I also totally dig the "rolled tacos" and Alberto's has random special's like, 5 rolled tacos with guac and a drink for $3 or something like that.
Apparently the burritos are also pretty tasty but why even mess with that when you can have SUPER NACHOS.
Warning -- do not attempt super nachos by yourself! You will be in pain!
(And if you're not feeling super adventurous you can order off the kid's menu. They have super nachitos and a drink for a couple bucks and that will totally work if you're cruising solo).
(P.S. This place is just up the street from the Glasshouse so if you're starving at 1am after seeing a band this place is perfect) -

Alberto's Mexican Food is an late night oasis for those looking for an alternative to the usual gang of fast food chains (Mc Donald's, Jack In The Box, etc.). They're actually open later than most of the fast food chains in the area.
Most of the options available on the menu are pretty regular for a Mexican restaurant-- tacos, burritos, etc. If you're like most late night diners and want something greasy and filling, the best thing to get on the menu is the Super Fries. They are fries layered with carne asada, melted cheese, onions, and guacamole with your choice of either green or red chili sauces. The sauces add a nice flavor and finish to the whole dish, but at times they come a little watered down. (If you really want a spicy kick, I recommend adding a little siracha (red chili paste) on top). For about under five dollars, the portion you get is enough to satisfy the hungriest of late night eaters. The white to-go boxes they come in are usually filled over half way up.
If you're thirsty, the horchatas available aren't half bad either. If you're feeling a little poor, you can get water to go for free. -

I've patronized a bunch of Alberto's locations, and this is definitely the best. This is one of the few to serve churros! Where else can you pick up a delicious chile relleno burrito (It's AMAZING!) at any time of the night? No where else, that's where!
Bonus: It has a drive-through, too! Last I checked, you could enter the lobby to eat at any time of night, but that may have changed. A fun selection of gum/toy machines rounds out the interior nicely.
The food is cheap, but of high quality. The tortillas at this location have always seemed far superior, as well. If you had a bad experience at another Alberto's, at least give this one at try!
I've driven more than 30 miles just for this sweet, sweet soul food. YOWZA! -

I've had better food from a burrito truck, but then again burrito trucks are hella good.
The food was okay. Beans tasted like canned beans. And no refills suck. The only good thing is that you have access to mediocre mexican food 24 hours a day. blah. -
Review from Greg T.
Ever have one of those drunken nights where you wake up surprised by whats laying next to you the next morning, and your like "how the hell did this happen, I wasn't that drunk... was I?". Than you get up, clear the crusties out of your eyes, and than survey the damage to find out that it's a half empty Alberto's styrofoam container with a partially eaten enchilada, beans and rice scattered everywhere, and a missing taco (it appears to be a #5 -about $6). Luckily, the person to blame for this isn't necessarily yourself because you were "slightly" intoxicated, and you can actually blame it on Alberto's for delivering up some cheap, tasty food thats served 24/7 because seriously who's eating at 2-3am anyways.
I'm usually a good drunk, so I could tell the difference between all the copy cat restaurants with the same exact menu, but if you ask your significant other who she's been with because she didn't pick up her phone after getting back from the bar, and she just fumbles around and says Alerto's (mostly in OC I think), Alfredo's, or was it Alberto's. She might be telling the truth because those are a couple of the copy cat names.... or a guy from the bar with one of those 3 names (damnn, that'd suck). -

This is my choice of drunken munchies. I always do the drive-thru late at night.
My suggestion and staple:
Carne Asada Fries + Large Horchata = $8.46
Carne Asada Fries: Ask for extra hot sauce! French fries, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, salsa, carne asada.
Horchata: The cinnamon-y rice drink helps cool your mouth down from all that hot sauce you pour all over the fries. goes down so smoothly when it's ice cold. -

Chicken Burrito: otherworldly.
Absolutely amazing Mexican food, available 24/7...OMFG!
The prices are very decent. There is a drive thru or you can walk in. The service wasn't as friendly as I had hoped. Parking is easy to find. This isn't the nicest looking place in the world but who cares if the food is as good as it is?
I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this place to anyone who loves good Mexican food. -
Review from Visvamitra L.
Pomona, CA
I went after hearing rave reviews from several people, and was underwhelmed.
I ordered a big beef wet burrito, figuring that would be a fair representation...and found the meat inside to be cheap and tough...and overall not that memorable...not even in a fatty clog-your-arteries sort of rich wonderful way. It was just lame.
I'd rather go to LaPaloma on Foothill and Garey instead (eventhough the expected sodium attack would present itself later on unfortunately).
meh...not the best mexican I have had. -

Ive only been here once.
Hearing about their carne asada fries for so long, i was very excited to try their food. However, I was disappointed.
Its not bad but it isnt great.
The food was a bit cold and un-fresh. When we went, the kitchen didnt even have their lights or ovens on. It was dim inside and very dirty.
Perhaps I will satisfy my carne asada fries craving at another Alberto's location... -
Review from Kristine P.
Moreno Valley, CA
Sometimes it feels like Alberto's is a hit or miss for me. What I do like though are the big portions for affordable prices and that it's open 24 hours when you get the late-night munchies.
My boys always raved about how awesome their Super Fries are. Basically you get a take-out container filled with fries topped with lots and lots of meat, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese - a heart attack at your fingertips. I can't finish this whole thing by myself, and for some reason, they taste 10000000x better when you're not sober (or so I've heard).
After that, I'd always order a California burrito - it's filled with meat, cheese, potatoes, and tomatoes. I always eat it with their green salsa. It hits the spot, with a glass of horchata, when they use potatoes in the burrito. Other nights, instead of using potatoes, they use stale-tasting french fries.
I've gotten Super Nachos once. They're Super Fries, except instead of the fries, you get nachos. It was okay - the chips tasted quite stale. That was the last time I ordered that. -

I'm a real big fan of this place. I took the family here one night. We were driving around Upland,Rancho, and Ontario. Looking for some kick-ass mexican food with no luck. Then it hit me ALBERTO'S !!! By this time it was late and we were vary vary hungry. The dinning room was still open witch was a plus and the staff was vary friendly.
The food was outstanding too. I had the rolled tacos and bean & cheese burro. I always get the rolled tacos there so good. -

Claremont, CA
Love them!!! And if you grew up in the south western united states and you are a connoisseur of hole in the wall Mexican restaurants, you'll love them too. If you're not used to that kind of food or are a little xenophobic about people who obviously learned English as a second language than this place probably isn't for you.
Only place I've found around the Claremont Colleges where you can get a wet burrito with real enchilada sauce! That is it has the almost glaze like texture and spice that enchilada sauce is suppose to. It is not suppose to have the consistency of tomato sauce!!! Come on! I'm white, but I do have standards! Anyway, back to alberto's, they have a neat take on the wet burrito, with one third cheese, one third sour cream and one third guacamole. I'm always a fan of cheese and sour cream and Mexican food ^^ (who isn't?)
I've been there twice now, first time with a girl who went there all the time and loved it and four other people. Second time with another friend. Every time people loved their food and the staff was friendly. I got wet chicken fajita burritos each time. My friend who went all the time got a plate, which came with a tortilla. Their tortillas are gorgeous! Fresh and glossy, like their suppose to be! I almost want to order a plate next time, so I have an excuse to eat one of their tortillas plane.
This last time a friend and I also split a churo. It was super hot, we hat to wait to eat it. Really good, exactly like the kind of choro's you get at the fair or at festivals. Their horchada is also perfect! Both are not too sweet with lots of cinnamon.
Tip on Mexican food in general: if you want to avoid digestive um issues, order something with vegetables in it (anything that says fajita has onions and bell peppers.)
They also started accepting credit cards now. -

If you're craving some good Mexican food, then this is definitely the place. If you're looking for someplace healthy, look otherwise because you'll have to cough up some grease after eating a burrito.
I tried a lot on their menu and in terms of taste and quantity, i prefer to get the California Burrito, and the Super Fries. Without a glaze of their red hot sauce, the taste is undeniably irresistible. The only down side, which i mentioned earlier, is the fact that the food is super greasy! That is all! -

I was craving carne asada nachos and Alberto's was the closest place I could think of. Ive been to another one once before, tried enchiladas I believe and it was yummy. The nachos were so good and HUGE. Make sure you ask for extra salsa though because they're containers are only halfway full.....waaaack! haha I'll probably bump them up to 4 stars, I just need to try more things on the menu.
