2 reviews for Alberto's Italian Grill
This place used to be really great when it was a hole in the wall off of Racetrack Road. Since it moved to it's bigger location on Tampa Road, it has lost quality and charm.
The pizzas are about the only thing worth getting here anymore. The last time I went for a family dinner and NO ONE liked their food. Which is odd, because usually at least someone will think they're food wasn't a complete calamity.
At least two person's lasagnas were burnt to a crisp. I ordered a linguine marinara and somehow that got messed up. The pasta was dry and the sauce was sparse. The fried calamari that came to the table was greasy and tasted like old oil had been used. To top it all off, our waitress was very inattentive--and it wasn't full in there.
The food was also way too expensive. $15 for pasta? Forgeddabout it! I would have rather had some spaghetti from Hungry Howie's down the road. At least it would have had cheese baked over it. The garlic knots were basically rocks they had found outside and decided to sprinkle with cheese.
Not worth it. It is sad because it used to be really delicious food at reasonable prices. Now they give you canned soup with three beans in it and charge you $6. Skip it. There are way better Italian experiences. Start with Olive Garden. That's how bad it was.
We eat lunch here about twice a month. The antipasto salad is a meal! The vodka pene` is awesome. Smokey from the prosciutto... yummmm...The meat calzones are big enough for two if you can bear to share. The ravioli in pink sauce is creamy and not overcooked. Good service. The four cheese pizza is really nice. Great lunch deals, Entree`, salad and killer garlic roll for less than 7 bucks! If you are on Tampa road day or night, try this place, it's worth it.
