This is my go-to place if I'm craving Mexican food at the wee hours of the morning. King taco closes at 2-3am I believe? So this is my go-to place when king taco is closed. I love this place only because it's open 24 hours! The food here is always fresh!
When I come here, I always get the:
- Carne Assad fries which consists of fries, carne Assad, onions, guacamole, red sauce, green sauce, and cheese.
- 5 mini tacos which consists of carne asada, onions, cilantro on top of a mini tortilla with your choice of red or green sauce.
- carne asada burrito which consists of carne asada, onion, cilantro, guacamole, and your choice of red or green sauce wrapped in a tortilla.
This chain only gives out two packaged sauces, so if you want more, you'll have to ask. I sometimes feel like the employee working at the front and drive through window is very rude. Upon asking for more sauce he gave a loud sigh and angrily tossed it in the bag.
The food here is great but the rude service?! ...not so great! This place would have gotten 4 stars from me, but I felt obligated to give this place 3 stars for the horrible service.
Tsk tsk tsk... How dare you, Alberto's employee! -

Whenever I'm in the mood for some Mexican food and something fast, I always come here. Whenever I come here I always get the carne asada fries which consists of fries, carne asada, guacamole, cheese, sour cream. Or their carne asada burrito, I usually get all meat. And their rolled tacos, which come in an order of 3, 5, or 10, which is a great deal since it's only about $2-7. The best part about this place is that it is open 24 HOURS. Which means it's accessible to me at any time of the day, and I love them for that. Ordering through the drive-thru is always short and they make their food incredibly fast, no matter how much you order.

Get your grease on! This is where fat asses join forces and munch down on some fatty, lard, artery clogging goodness. What? You think these Tequitos are made with soy oil? It's lard MOFO. White pasted comes in a box like solid clay. Then it melts into hot lard.
The two things I ordered here: Carne Asada burrito, $4.70, and 3 taquitos for $2.73. If you're a vegetarian this isn't a place for you. There's no salad. There's so cherry tomatoes, mixed green, bull shit. it's meat meets sauce meets grease.
No I don't order these item separately silly. I ordered them at the same time, ahahahha j/k I ordered them separately never at the same time. I'd be 300 lbs if I eat regularly. I seriously think they put coke in their taquitos it's good stuff.
The burrito is ridiculous. It's filled with beef and sprinkle of pico de gallo and a table spoon of guacamole. Meaty goodness. It's not dry. It's chewy because it comes from the cow's shoulder which is a tougher meat. So my guess is they roasted the entire cow's shoulder, diced it, and when customer ordered it they take three kitchen spoons of diced meat and pan fried on the flat iron skillet.
It's not wrapped with flour tortilla. It's something else more gluten texture I wish I know it tasted very similar to something I had on the street of Thailland. They would pan fried these and drizzled condense milk then roll it up... good stuff.
The taquitos were deep fried, obviously... But I love the chunk of guacamole and tons of cheese on top. Yeah! You can't be eating this like once a week like me unless you do P90X. This stuff will slow you down.
Excellent value. For you to make either a burrito or a taquitos at home it's going to cost your more time and money Why bother shopping when Albertos is wiling to make fifty cents from $1.50 investment. The founder is smart in that he's willing to sell more quantity then quality to get his customers. It works.
Recaps:
Big burrito for $4.70
3 taquitos with fresh guacamole and cheese, $2.73
and if you want diabetes in your 50s don't forget to get their Horcheta so good.
Excellent value for your dollars
Service is good. I like the guy there he's friendly.
They have red and green sauce as well. It's not as good as King Taco but sometimes you get bored so it's good to have options. Yes, life is about having options! -

So Came here wondering if this was like the Alberto's I had a couple times in San Diego. Seemed to be since they also sold the carne asada fries as well as the the familiar Alberto's mascot.
Anyhow decided to give Alberto's a shot after a Mexican wedding and I was actually pretty hungry. Wasnt dissapointed nor was greatly pleased, thought my Alberto's experience was overall good. I ordered the 5 taco plate with a horchata, which came at the low price of 5.99. So good for the pocket. Loved the Adobada meat and carne asada. Chicken was ok. The salsa though was kind of disappointing and the horchata was nothing special, though I did like the fact that they refilled. Service was nice.
Parking though here is horendous, whoever planned it didnt do well in designing becasue the parking spaces are so near the drive thru, that I was always looking to see if people would hit my car, so many people had to reverse their car to make sure not hit mine. -

Rosemead, CA
Carne Asada Fries were like 80% fatty pieces versus the Alberto's on Rosemead, way better in quality. Did NOT like at all.
Breakfast Burrito consisted of eggs, cheese and ham...never had one of these before but it was pretty sickening and it filled me up the ENTIRE day of work. NOT a good thing I don't think...grossed me out pretty much not going to come back to this location.. -

WTF?!? I've never had an experience worse than this at a Mexican place and I've been from albertos to king taco to alfredo to lucky boys.
order 2 small carne asada tacos, chicken buritto with Avacado, onion, and salsa. simple right? jus 2 tacos and a burrito, yet they failed on every from the meat to the bag outside.
tacos: virtually all meat. about a coin quarter size of guac, onion, and cilantro. normally I wouldnt complain cuz I love meat but I mean come on. it's friggin dry as hell with just meat. not exactly carne asada if its just meat, might as well just got a beef taco. then they put it into one of those hot dog boxes(rectangle styrofoam box) and threw it in the bag standing straight up...yeah exactly...both tacos spilled all over the place.
burrito: sigh, I asked them what they had in the chicken burrito and the person told me only chicken. uh, WTF? why do I need them to grab chicken and wrap it for 5 dollars? you'd think the chicken is marinade or something atleast but nope, tasted bland and dry PLUS there were hard unchewable tendons in there. tortilla were charred cancerous black in certain places. I asked for avocado, onions, and salsa but they gave so little it might as well not been in there...and it was canned tomato sauce instead of salsa -.-" they wrapped the burrito with their branded paper but somehow managed to wrap it INTO the burrito?!?! I had to unfold the burrito to get the paper out and while I was doing that I found hair inside.
2 green sauce, 1 red sauce. red sauce wasn't capped correctly an started leaking. 2 green sauces tasted like straight up jalapeno, not salty or anything. I don't understand the point to the green sauce if it's just as spicy as the red...but this was just straight spicy, no other taste.
lastly since the food spilled everywhere I needed the napkins...too bad they were already dirty. there was some dry brown stuff on it that you can tell has been there for a while.
food failed. service failed. hell even the condiments failed. 1 star is way too much for this place. I needa consider complaining to Environmental and Health Services Department. -

I just bought a Carne Asada Burrito, and tasted the SAND inside of the burrito....WTH? I've experienced couple times before but didn't pay attention to it much. However, this time I can't let myself keep eating it no more because every bite, while chewing it, the sand sticks to my teeth and makes all kinds of noise....I wonder how they make their food. Did they drop my order on the floor? or did they make the their food WITH SAND? I regret i've been a loyal customer to them.
For this reason, I wouldn't be going back there anymore. Warning! Don't even try any food that you have no idea what they put inside...like this time: SAND...very disappointing. -

I'm not as crazed about Alberto's as I am about King Taco. Their meat is usually a little too overcooked for my liking. However, after El Gordito closed down, this became my torta joint. It's quick and easy to go through their drive through when the King Taco looks too packed across the street.
The fact that they are open 24/7 is awesome. Whether I'm heading home after a late evening class, or half drunk and starving after some giggle time with the girls.. -

Super greasy but extra yummy mexican food!
Tried their beef burrito, chicken taco, and enchiladas.
Always come with sides of rice and beans.
I usually bought them after coming home from my classes and don't feel like cooking.
Their service is pretty fast and the staff always have a great smile on their face.
Restaurants like Alberto's is the reason why it's so hard for me to lose weight.
You know it's not good for you, but you just can't help it since it taste sooooo gooood. -

I don't know how "authentic" carne asada fries are to Mexican culture, but I will be very happy to eat what you ordered if you're not going to.
After a long, quite grueling day at work I need to reward myself. It's February, so I have long forgotten the promise to myself on New Year's to eat healthy. I WANNA BE A HEIFER, i told myself. And what better way than with a single order of carne asada fries? Oh, right, we're at Alberto's-- SUPER fries, 'scuse me.
Now, be warned. This strip of Peck Blvd. is busy and unless you know what you are looking for, you might end up at another taco joint. Case in point: there is an Alfredo's right across the street from Alberto's. Don't be fooled! It's kinda tricky:
ALBERTO'S - little guy holding up 3 tacos and standing still
ALFREDO'S - little guy holding up 2 tacos and running.
And if you think they all look the same, then you're racist-- OMGI'MKIDDING! If that doesn't work, just look for the tiny taco stand with the drive thru and nevermind the mascot signboards.
One serving of Super Fries is more than enough for two people-- the fries are shoestring (I like steak cut better) and decimated by heaps of sour cream, guacamole, beans, cheese and an entire cow in the form of carne asada. Make sure you wear your loose pants for this one. And be prepared for some labored breathing, that's what happens when your heart has to catch up with your gluttony. I recommend ordering super fries if you promise to ran a few laps the following day to make up for it.
Horchata will save you, it's a tad on the watered down side, but it is the only thing that can wash that all down. -

Carne Asada fries.. The midnight snack of drunken champions.. I'm just glad I caught this place without a late night long drive thru line.. Such guilty food but I don't care, we all have to indulge ourselves every now and then right?
*cricket cricket*
Don't judge me and my fatass!
P.S. I took a chance on a Chorizo Burrito for the first time and it was whatever really.. Yeah it was spicy and whatnot, but it really seemed to lack taste.. I guess I'll just stick to my tried and true burrito, the chicken.. -

I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD! Alberto's was like my savior during my college years because they open 24 hours. However, this particular Alberto's fast food chain was "bleh" and "blah". Okay, it was "bad". I was hugging my toilet for 2 days!
It was late. We were hungry and tired. In desperation for Mexican food, we couldn't resist Alberto's. The carne asada & chicken burritos were good and pretty huge but we both paid the price in the end. I can't risk another incident again.
Am I a happy camper? I think NOT. Am I a returning customer? Heck NO! Am I bashing all Alberto's Mexican Fast Food, NO.... just this particular location. I will have to look for another clean Mexican fast food place somewhere else to quench my late night hunger. ~ -

I feel like I'm crazy, but I'm not a fan of Alberto's. Maybe I just haven't had the right food, but it just hasn't stuck out to me. I feel like their burritos are rather plain. Their tortas are good, but burritos are the important thing to me. It's just ooooookkkkkaaay.
Normally I get a chicken burrito, which normally just has chicken with some spicy sauce in it. So, i usually get rice added in it. Today, my brothers brought home carne asada burritos which was also just okay.
All in all, I'm just going to assume for now that I just haven't had the right amazing delicious dish. So, for now, it's just A-OK for me. -

I'm a carne asada fries addict and of all the places I've tried, hands down Albertos is the most L E G I T.
They give generous portions with alot of meat. Spells bombdiggity to me. Try adding some pico de gallo...it will take the taste to a whole new level. (But they only give free one per order, additional ones are $1 each).
As for the atmosphere, Albertos is a pretty authentic mexican place and of course a few hoodlums would hang out and about. I always get the vibe the people there are watching me like a zoo animal at the odd times I go (because I have crazy carne fries cravings early morning and late at night). Its definitely not the safest place to be, so if I get it alone, I usually just do drive through just because. And if I go with my group of asian friends late at night after drinking, we just try to keep to ourselves and not ask for trouble.
Anyways, I have been eating carne asada fries 7 days in row and counting :)
check out my picture :) -

Just had two carne asada burritos and the carne asada fries that everyone raves about here.
The fries were enough to share between the two of us. The burritos were waaaay too much food.
I think the food here is OKAY. Not earth-shattering. The carne asada is decent, although still not... IT for me.
This is better than some, not the undisputed king, however. I don't know if I'd opt to eat here again.
The BIG question is, who's gonna toot first tonight - me, or my would-be-horrified girlfriend? Time shall tell!
Tick... Tock... -

Delicious! Ive lived ni El Monte my whole life and have been eating @ albertos since i discovered it in highschool. sure there have been a couple times where my order was wrong but when doesnt that happen over a 15 year span.
The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. It is definately my GOTO mexican fast food joint. -

El Monte, CA
For the record, I've been going here since high school. After several nights needing to sober up, Alberto's came to the rescue. I've been here more times than I can count, and disappointingly, there may have been and instantce when I've gone like 3-4 times in a week and even worse, twice in one day. My figure has collapsed, my arteries are somewhat clogged, and I have let go of myself, so sue me.
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PROCEED:
Do I want to be ridiculously stuffed today?
Do I want to save money for perhaps maybe even more later?
Do I want to be put into a induced food coma?
Do I go with the salsa roja or the salsa verde?
If you answered yes to 3 out of the 4 questions and answered salsa verde, then you want to eat at Albertos.
I normally satisfy my hunger with a Carne Asada Burrito and an Extra Large Horchata to wash it down. If you ask for the Carne Asada Burrito, it's nothing but Carne Asada inside, so you can ask them to add the guacamole, sour cream, rice, and beans for little fees here and there. The last time I had Alberto's was with my bro Richie, and that was quite sometime back. But the story goes, we see Henry downing a burrito and he told us he added beans, rice, and cheese, so my boy Richie shouts out, "F, that dude, lets go get a Henry!" So thus, the Henry was born, but eventually i evolved and made the "'Mikey" with Guacamole and rice, no beans. So don't go there and order the "Henry" or the "Mikey." they will just be like, "wtf is this guy saying? pinche gringo!"
The super nachos and super fries always hits the spot, those are always the classics you would order, to be honest, i don't see anybody else order anything else besides the burritos and super nachos.
The breakfast burrito is kinda dope too, but for some reason, there are times during the day the food maybe spoiled, after all they are open 24/7. so be careful, so far, late night i've been good.
check out their competitors, Alfredo's across the street, haha. -

5. Always, funny too low gangsta OG cars to point at!

I'd only come here in the middle of the night, if I have a craving for Mexican food! They are 24/7 :] but seating is outdoor. I've never sat outside to eat so I only eat here when I take it to go.
I always order super fries or super nachos here! BE SURE to add pico de gallo && chopped onions and cillantro to it!! it's SO good !
Their horchata is 'meh' -
Review from Sally Z.
I came here on my sister's recommendation to get the carne asada mini nachos. Hahah I was shocked that it was the nacho chips that were mini, not the serving portion! It was around $6, too. I was expecting a smaller portion for $5 or less bucks.
The nachos themselves were heartcloggingly good. A cheesy and meaty heaven! I eventually did come to enjoy the styrofoam box serving of nachos, but I got the feeling like my chips were a bit stale.
I'll be back, though. -

Not only it's open 24 hours (just incase you get the munchies at 2am) they also have really good carne asada soft tacos! They also have a drive-thru too!
The food is super yummy! -
Review from Eileen T.
Aliso Viejo, CA
Alberto's is not the best Mexican in El Monte. There are plenty of choices around. But the place is fast, cheap and filling. And they open 24 hours.
CARNITAS BURRITO: That was one big burrito. The burrito was full of juicy tender pork carnitas. I love the marbled cut of pork. Delicious. There was also bean in the burrito. A few more bites into the burrito, there was salsa. Fresh tomato, onion and cilantro. Yum!
FISH BURRITO: It was fried fish, lettuce, salsa and sour cream sauce. It was like a fish salad burrito. Perfect burrito on a hot summer day.
LENGUA BURRITO: OMG this burrito was the best! The tongue didn't really taste like tongue to me. It just tasted like really tender and tasty beef. I love this burrito. Definitely will get this again.
TRIPA BURRITO: I wanted to try something different. Being Taiwanese, I am not afraid of organ meats. So I ordered a tripa (tripe) burrito. It had rice, bean, salsa and tripe. The tripe wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be the soft and tender stewed kind of tripe (like the Chinese kind). But it was fried tripe. It was crispy. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. So I was a little disappointed.
CONDIMENTS: Two kinds of sauces were served with the burrito. The red sauce was spicy. The green sauce was tangy. I like the red one better. If you ask them, they'll also give you radish, lime and pickled carrot.
DRINKS: A giant cup of iced cold drink for $1.70. Horchata is a Mexican cinnamon rice drink. Very yummy. Tamarindo is the Mexican version of the Chinese sour plum juice, but sweeter. I like this one, too. -
Review from Johnny K.
Monterey Park, CA
Alberto's is the perfect place for late-night stoners: (1) they're opened 24 hours a day, and (2) they serve these super nachos in a big takeout box for only $6 (best to get the carnitas and have an extra bag of chips on hand, as they really pile on the meat, cheese, and sour cream).
Other than that, the food is just okay. The carne asada burrito is still inexpensive (about $3), and their fish burrito is pretty good. But everything has a fast food taste to it. I guess because it is fast food (or "good food, quickly"). -
Review from Jenny Y.
Oakland, CA
I always get the craving when I visit home and I have many fond memories of making Alberto's runs late at night. It's funny; stoners can't shut up about food when we're driving to a place but they all clam up when you're ordering.
My vegetarian friend swears by their veggie burrito (much better than the Alberto's on Lower Azusa by the In&Out). Carnitas is king for me. The carnitas burrito gets nasty because all of the oil collects in the bottom of the burrito so you have to throw it away or face the consequences. But the carnitas super nachos are stellar. Once, 3 of us planned on sharing the super nachos but my buddy and I started playing some NES. After about 5 minutes, we look up and there's our other friend with a grin on his face, happy sounds coming from his throat, stuffing his mouth. Half of it was gone!
I only come here at night because there are better options for Mexican food out there but if it's after midnight, and Jack in the Box doesn't sound appealing, Alberto's is the place to be. -

Food is pretty good...BUT $8.00 for a fast food carne asada wet burrito get out of here! it seems to fluctuate every time...and OMG the service is horrible...especially the drive thru..You go up and her ugh eh ya thats it nothing no manners at all! I think the workers are rude!!!

Because of their drive-through, Alberto's is the place you go if you're too lazy to walk into King Taco. There's not very many places to sit other than a few tables in the back outside or a few seats at the counter so you'll probably want to get your food to go. That said, they're pretty cheap and quick so if you're looking for some greasy Mexican food, they won't disappoint.

Alberto's is very hit and miss with their food. Super fries are the reason I keep coming back. I would always come here after a night of drinking. The super fries are very consistent. Everything else just isn't as consistent. But when it's good, it's good!

This albertos is probably the best one out of the bunch in this area. Some nights is better than others because of the cook. From my personal experience, the carne asada is a little dry here. After time, i just leaned over to getting carnitas from this place. The staff here is decent, u ask for as much sauce as u need and they will provide. The taquitos here are amazing!! u gotta eat it right as your leaving though, once the sogginess of guacamole kicks in, thats when a good order has gone bad.
Overall this place is ok.the taquitos are bomb yet the burrito knocks a few stars off. i come here all the time because its like 3minutes from my house. and open 24/7.

If you are looking for healthy, turn the other way and run!
The only reason I come back to this place is SUPER FRIES!!!
If I want tacos, burritos or sopes, you can find me across the street at King Taco.
Life doesn't get better than a huge helping of french fries covered in cheese, refried beans, sour cream, guacamole and carne asada. Don't forget to ask for some pico de gallo!

Not a typical Mexican place to go to. After all the hype that we heard from our SoCal friends we came here after a long day at Friendship Games..okay this was back in 1996, but what a disappointment. I will say it is probably a place to go to after a long night at the clubs and you get hungry and there isn't a place left in town that is open.
