Dr. Michael Smith is the best doctor I've ever had. He's very real and down to earth, and treats me with respect, honesty, and kindness. He's very knowledgeable and experienced, in both standard western and alternative medicine. He's been careful to get a clear understanding of what is important to me and how I want to go about caring for my health, and worked with me from there.
He never leaves until we've gone through all of my questions. What this means is that you may wait a while past your appointment time to see him (less with AM appointments), but it's worth it to have the doctor's full attention and get all the information you need.
Dr. Lewis is an old school country doctor. He's down to earth. If you don't care if your Dr. wears Birkenstocks- he's a great choice. He follows up quickly with questions and has always given me great referrals. He's well informed and never patronizing. The office is not managed especially well, you generally wait for 30 minutes if you don't have an early morning appointment. It's crowded and the magazine selection is a bit tired (this seems to be the curse of Berkeley doctors in general). However, the standard of care is good.
I am a big fan of Dr. Michael Lewis and so is my husband. Dr. Lewis is a very likeable person who is down to earth, thinks twice about prescribing antibiotics and takes his time to talk to you about your medical history, your symptoms and how he suggests to treat your illness. He even followed up with an evening call when my husband came down with pneumonia to ask how he was feeling. Today I called in with a sore throat and a self-diagnosis of tonsilitis and he was able to see me an hour later. I am very happy we found a family doctor we can trust and who seems to be concerned about our health.
i don't get sick; moreover, i feel the same way i did 30 years ago. even so, it seems prudent to have a real doctor check me out from time to time. my real doctor is michael smith of the albany medical group. dr. smith keeps up on the latest medical issues and has no problems with me being a weirdo. dr. smith's touch is a reassuring, and his manner relaxed. the nurses and support staff are very professional and easy to get along with.
