Eric and his family are awesome, just like his coffee! Been sipping down at the West LA Farmers Market most Sundays. One of my weekly highlights.
He brings various coffees from various parts of the world. I haven't had a bad cup, but I recommend the Kona - a bit pricey for that one, but oh so tasty! -

It looks like Eric is throwing all aces here on Yelp anyways, so I guess the only addition I can make is that the bluetooth headset he always has in his ear makes me feel like I'm buying from a coffee roaster sent back through time to correct a grim future in which coffee is not stupefying good every time.
Each of his coffees is completely distinct, but so far my favorite has been the Mexican, with deep raspberry notes. The roasts change from week to week, highlighting qualities of particular batches.
Hovers around 7 / 13 for half and whole pounds, respectively -- very, very fair for the product.
The man is an artist. -

I haven't gone in awhile since I mostly drink coffee at work and been lazy about making coffee at home. I bought a bag of Peru yesterday, havne't tried it yet but it smells amazing. I also tried the the famous Jamaican blue mountain coffee. It's about 40 dollars for a lb but Eric gets it in stock very rarely. I got the cup and it did taste indeedy delicious.
What I was most impressed by was (even more than the coffee) Eric himself. He remembered what I liked and didn't like, although its been awhile since I last went to grab myself a cup of coffee... and he also reads these yelp reviews very carefully, hahaha. He's so knowledgeable and does an amazing job brewing flavor into each cup. It's like watching master @ work!Listed in: Parents

What can I say that hasn't been said by the other reviewers? Eric's coffee and service is amazing.
I'm in LA on extended business trips every so often and was out here for a month this time. Staying in the Glendale/Burbank area and not traveling downtown often my good coffee options were kinda limited. I tried San Marco's and a few other spots, and was left feeling meh. Had a Sunday off, yelped and found Alana's. Found the farmer's market, showed up and bought a cup for $2 - quickly realizing A) it was amazing (peruvian) and B) I didn't have enough cash for a half-pound I wanted (had a travel french press at the hotel).
Since it was a bit overcast and Eric wasn't too busy, he started chatting with me about the cup, talk turned to the issue of cash and the half-pound - and BOOM - Eric mentions he can take credit cards. At the Farmer's Market? Yep. Uses Square to process payments - I was able to get a receipt and expense it. Amazing.
Coffee is bright, sweet, and makes you feel like you drank good stuff - keeps you going longer than crappy coffee. Highly highly recommended. -

This man's coffee is amazing. He has freshly roasted, single-origin coffee. I've bought a few different coffees from him, my favorite so far being from Peru. I go to the farmers market just to get some coffee and ask any coffee related questions, as Eric is very knowledgeable about coffee. I'd highly recommend visiting Alana's Coffee Roasting.

1st of all, I want to thank Sharon S for introducing me to Alana's coffee. It was the best advice I have ever received. I have been nothing but pleased with Eric's product. Eric, as a business person, knows his stuff and is quite great with his customers (old or new). He is LEGIT!!!
His coffee is fresh and excellent. I consider myself a quasi coffee snob, and believe me Alana's coffee is excellent in quality and in taste!! I am over those other companies with their mass produced burnt old tasting coffee.
if you just want a cup of coffee that is excellent quality, fresh and great tasting, then buy Alana's Coffee!!! You'll thank me later!! ;-) -

"Five stars?" I said to Sweetheart. OH, Yeah! he replied.
Sweetheart's Review:
"Today I had the Ethiopian. Previously I've tried others, such as the Mexican. Other gourmet coffee houses charge significantly more for the same type of beverage. Every Sunday, I look forward to my two dollar iced Guatemalan. Looking forward to trying something new next Sunday. Possibly the best coffee in Los Angeles."
Also nice: Buy the beans online and they will deliver them to you for free. Who else does that? Nobody!Listed in: C Is For Coffee That's Good…

Alana's Coffee is THE best coffee I have ever tasted!!
I love coffee. Before LA, I lived in the Northwest, where I spent many rainy days in coffee shops among the coffee-obsessed. I have sampled coffee in various coffee-centric countries around the world. Alana's Coffee is a real find!
Ditto about all the comments from other yelpers on Eric's commitment to excellence and his customer service. It is so rare to find someone so passionate about their work and product!
Sometimes Eric will have a limited quantity of an extra special batch. Whatever he recommends - - buy it before it's gone and savor it. He is always right.
Once you try this coffee you too will be hooked. You won't be able to go back to buying flat-tasting mass-produced coffee. Even my local independent coffee-shop doesn't sell coffee that tastes anywhere near as fresh and complex as Alana's Coffee. -

Eric is the coffee god. Find him at LA farmers' markets. He will let you... no, he will INSIST that you stick your nose in all the coffee bags while he educates you on all the different beans. He roasts all his own organic coffee, and grinds only when you order it. Most bags are $10/lb and $6/half lb.
As good as it gets.Listed in: Best of Westchester

So good, so fair, so fresh. I visit Eric each week without fail to pick up my coffee for the week. I love the coffee and conversation and look forward to it each week. I appreciate his commitment to quality and customer service which is rare these days. He has a great product that he is proud of but doesn't allow that to go to his head. His prices are fair, his dedication is clear and his friendly personality make it a pleasure to do business with him.

Eric is absolutely amazing. I was a coffee virgin that wanted to learn more. Eric took the time to give me a great education and he still teaches me something new every time I buy from him. Eric loves what he does and it shows. All of his coffee is organic, very high quality, and delicious. Ever since my first purchase, I keep coming back. Thank you Eric for providing such a great service and turning me into a coffee lover.

Awesome coffee. My wife and I look forward to coming by every week! He's at the West LA farmer's market (Purdue and Santa Monica) every Sunday. Great prices and, without exaggeration, some of the best coffee I've ever had. Perfectly roasted, fair trade, and single origin. Can't ask for better. Keep up the good work and see you next Sunday!

This is the best coffee in LA. The beans are all single origin and organic, perfectly roasted, never burnt (except he does make a French roast for those who are into that sort of thing). The price is an unreal $10 per pound or $6 for half pounds. Alana's coffee is perfect for coffee snobs and people who just want a great coffee at a great price. He also offers some more high end beans, like Jamaican Blue Mountain, for the ultra connoisseurs. I have had it. It is amazing. The coffee is roasted right there at the Farmers Market, and if you can't make it to the market, Eric will deliver to your home. I can't say enough good things about Alana's Coffee!

Wow. Incredibly impressed. Came across Alana's at the West LA Farmer's Market and saw Eric making fresh coffee via the pour-over method while chatting it up with some clearly loyal customers. He was working hard to up with the ongoing demand and I was impressed that it was important enough for him to have fresh-brewed coffee for people, instead of having stuff just sitting around getting old. He kept a great attitude and wasn't edgy at all even though I knew he was working his tail off. I've worked at a coffee shop for a couple years so I'm pretty picky about freshness, both with drip coffee and beans. The drip coffee was delicious, and I got a pound of Sumatra to take home. I loved Eric's passion and knowledge about the beans, and loved that he offered the bag of beans to let me inhale the intoxicating scent of fresh-roasted glory. Organic, single-origin, just roasted that very morning. The husband and I just had our first cup made via French press of the Sumatra and WOW is it good. SO fresh, bold, balanced, not burnt, seriously perfect. DEFINITELY coming back for more!

The best and freshest coffee I have found thus far. He roasts his own coffee. Nice selection of single origin organic coffee's. He will also custom blend beans for espresso at your request. Very knowledgeable and customer driven. I make a special trip to the farmers market just to get my coffee for the week.

I'm completely and happily addicted to the French Roast, but everything Eric suggests is as fantastic. AND-- he'll deliver if you can't make it to a farmer's market! THE BEST.

Eric is incredibly passionate about coffee, super nice, and very knowledgeable. Ask him anything you want, tell him your preferences (if you don't really know your preferences, he'll help) and he'll get you the perfect bean. It is so fun to watch him roast coffee right there in front of you as well! His coffee is both only organic, AND you can feel good that you're truly supporting a small business in Los Angeles -- about as local as one can get with coffee. And his bags are only $10/pound or $6/half pound!!! Sure, you can get it cheaper at trader joes, but his super-freshly roasted coffee will be 20x better. He also delivers free if its a pound or more, anytime -- he is incredibly dedicated to his customers, and so enthusiastic about the product he sells. Small-scale coffee roasting at its best.
