5 reviews for Alamo Steak House
I am going to go ahead and quickly cut to the chase here about this place. It is overpriced and is nearly as lame as the commercialized city it resides in. Almost every item on the menu is around $18-25. Usually when I come across steep prices like that in Atlanta, it is because either the food is really good or the establishment has a fantastic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Alamo encompassed none of the qualities that give it permission to charge high prices.
The food was, at best, a step down from what you can get at your local Chili's or Applebee's. The inside of the place looked like that southern restaurant 'Folks', except with some cattle skulls on the wall to give it that Alamo vibe I guess. The only people that were dining here were the employees of the restaurant, and a few weird looking locals, who I like to refer to as "Carnies."
But what did I really expect from a city that worships Dolly Parton?

I don't mean to go on a rant here, but if you ask me, I think the whole town is one big cheap neon light that tarnishes the beautiful mountains which surround it. The worst part is the main strip in Pigeon Forge, which looks strikingly similar to that main strip of highway in Panama City that everyone used to cruise down during high school spring break. To make matter even worse, all over the strip there are a bunch of crappy stores that sell those stupid shirts that are not even novelty items for tourists,,,,,,,they just say something like "FBI: Free Beer Inspector" or something equally as stupid.

Ah the kitsch of Texas lore in the land of some cotton dixie kitsch and historical amnesia. The Alamo is a decent place for dinner, though overpriced. Might be worth it though to take a break from fast food and deep fried everything. Service was friendly. The ritz cracker grouper is tasty and flaky. An interesting texture. Too bad the spinach salad had bacon bits all over it (yeah my fault I don't eat pork and need to remember to specify in the South). The sweet potato with brown sugar was nice, but could have been more tender. Warm bread was also nice. Good meal, but overpriced. Oh well, it's a tourist destination.
Not bad - especially for lunch - lunch specials are good and good prices as well - it ain't Ruth's Kris but it ain't bad
We have had lunch at GatlinBurg, and Pigeon Forge. The service is very good, and the food is top notch. We always use a coupon for a percentage off of the entire table. Steak burgers are excellent, the kids menu is great also. Dinner can get expensive in a tourist destination, so we always go here for lunch.
gross. bad decor. nasty food. pricey. hour+ wait for table. keep away
