I usually use Alamo whenever I rent cars. They seem to have the best prices and that's really all I care about when it comes to a rental.
This particular location is great because they have the automated kiosk thing.
I always reserve my car online prior to traveling so when I arrived I slid my credit card into the kiosk and it retrieved my rental agreement.
I took my printed out rental agreement downstairs to where the cars are.
Once there you can select whatever car you want, they all have their keys in them and are ready to go. I checked out a few, wanting to find a good one that 4 guys could easily fit in and that I would be comfortable driving, so I went with a Jetta.
You drive the car to the gate, show them your agreement and license and off you go. It's so simple.
Will be back next year for spring training for sure. -

Decent rate on a 3-day rental, though I opted to pick up my car the morning after I landed because those 12 extra hours meant nearly $100 difference in price. Cars are available out of a rental hub that is serviced by an airport shuttle bus. Plan on leaving at least an extra 20 minutes as the hub is actually quite far from the terminals (and gas stations).
No line to get the rental agreement and there were plenty of cars to choose from Really the only negative was the persistent up-sell by the counter agent who didn't seem to understand that "No Thank you" really does means no. -

I got a rental on Hotwire for $19.99/day. I arrived very late (like, midnight) and the Rental Car Center was empty. The Alamo counter is hard to find -- the signage isn't as good as for other car rental companies. Two ladies were there, and one was more interested in talking about getting off work at 1 a.m. than helping me. The other lady pointed me to one of the automated kiosks to get my rental car, even though not another customer was to be found in their place. It was late, I was tired and sleepy, and ready to make quick work of getting the rental, getting on the road, and getting in the bed. By using the kiosk, it took me much longer to get out of there than if they'd helped me directly.
Anyway, I got a silver Ford Focus...it was fine for tooling around town for a couple days...good gas mileage and A/C (which, in Arizona in August, is key).
Bottom line: If it's a matter of only a couple dollars a day, rent from one of Alamo's big brothers instead. -

Efficient and fast, but the cashier didn't smile once....not even close. Can't say I really enjoyed the Fiat that I borrowed, but the gas mileage was top notch and I wasn't paying for the rental so I guess I'm okay with it.

Used a kiosk to check in. In and out in 30 seconds.
Went down to the parking garage where they point you to the class of cars you reserved and let you choose one...where the keys are waiting in the door.
They check you out on the way out of the garage to make certain you aren't stealing the thing.
We were in and out in under five minutes.
Seamless- I like Phoenix so far. -

Overall a very positive experience. It was cheap (Jeff's dad got us some kind of discount) and we ended up with a car equipped with fuel efficiency and Sirius satellite radio. The lady who checked us in last Friday was super friendly and took her time explaining everything... the guy who checked us in was equally friendly and ridiculously on point (they had multiple people checking folks in and helping unload).
Thank you Alamo for not being irritating and taking forever.
My only issue is that if you aren't near your luggage when you are either sitting or standing... it is unattended when they take it off... there is no one who stands and receives the luggage while someone hand it to them....they go back and forth.... keep your luggage nearby... woot.Listed in: Arizona Trip 2010

Just know for certain that you will NEVER get the car they say you will online. i.e. Jeep Grand Cherokee : you will get a Kia or a Nissan Rogue, but NEVER the car they have pictured on their website. The price with the insurance which they tell you about when you pick up the car will add $30 per day for collision. There are alot of extra little gouging add ons which are a drag.

Show up, present credit card, say "need car" to somebody, pick car, drive out. I don't know if renting a car is this easy everywhere (I usually have a private driver because I'm fancy) or if Alamo has learned to eliminate the annoying steps of 1. waiting and 2. waiting for excess paperwork to print. I even liked the Kia we selected.

I used Priceline to rent my 78-year-old father a car in Phoenix. I pre-paid for a PREMIUM car. Alamo was the company which accepted the bid. At the airport, my father was shown pictures of cars and told to select one. He selected a Chrysler 300. When he returned the car 4 days later, they told him that they charged his credit card $239! What a scam!
