Alameda, CA
I had been passing this place up for a while mostly cuz its small and only has two tables to sit at outside. However, I finally went here, and think I will come back. It's not the best burger place in Alameda, but the quality of meat is good, and they actually do use fresh components (meat, lettuce, etc). The 1/2 pound burger really did seem like it was half a pound even after being cooked. I got the curly fries, and I must admit they are a bit overpriced ($2.50), but they were good.
Next time I go there, I think I will request medium rare as their default is medium, which is pretty standard. The burger was still good though. -

Park Street's best kept secret. This place has best burgers, korean bbq sandwiches (yeah bulgolgi that please), cheese fries and generally food that you know you'll get all up on yo face. It's a definite good place to eat when they have a hand sanitizer stand once you walk in. I love it here, word of caution they will charge you for using your card if you don't spend more than $7 I think?
I suggest just order take out. The outdoor seating is limited to say the least and if you come during lunch or when AHS lets out you'll probably be in for a long wait. -

Best take out burgers on the island. Nice, big, juicy burger, cooked to order. Fresh toppings. I get mine with a french roll for 50 cents more. Good fries.
Downside: really small place, good for take-out. Only a few outdoor tables, so if its cold you're SOL. Only a little more expensive than fast food and way, way better.
5 stars for the food. -1 star no place to eat it. -

As an experienced yelper looking for eating advice from my peers i turned to Alameda Grill for a good lunch experience. What i got...so so food and a cook lady reaching into the trash can, making hand contact with its contents, and then pulling sliced cheese out and placing it on a burger without washing first. I almost threw up in my mouth! There are basic rules to live by as a cook and this was unacceptable. Try the taqueria across the street instead.

Dont let the outside appearance of this place fool you! It a small family run business and they cook up some AWSOME burgers! Always fresh. Their other hot sandwhiches are pretty good too! I love their steakfries.
The only knock on this place......lack of seating. -

I've been coming to Alameda Grill close to 10 years. Owners have changed but food has not. I have had just about everything on the menu and never have had a bad meal. Today was 4 cheeseburger combos with grilled onions. A perfect burger. Steak fries also perfect, the ladies threw in a bag of sweet potato fries for us to try, Excellent. The bulgolgi is very good also. Daily specials also worth a try. Try to beat the high school crowd here before lunch.

Alameda Grill is a small little hut that sits next to Alameda Cycle's parking lot. I have walked passed the little burger joint on many occasions and I suspect I would have continued to ignore the hut if it wasn't for the inconvenience of Labor Day.
Alameda Grill is surprisingly vegetarian aware, they not only offer a Garden Burger but a Tofu option as well. The owner mentioned the Tofu patty is on the sweeter end so I opted for the Garden patty with cheese, jalapeños and avocado. The burger its self was yummy and based on the burger alone I would return. Unfortunately life is never so easy. Complications arise from the burger's life partner - Mrs. French Fry. The thick steak fries were warm and inviting but the crisp yellow face had a hidden taste that wasn't very pleasant. The fries were subjected to a faith similar to that of a fish and with every bite you were reminded. I wish I could say I would return but fries are crucial to my burger experience and I like it fish free.
Two burgers
One order of fries
Two can cokes
$21.

My mind is still spinning with good impressions after having my first 1/2 pound cheeseburger at Alameda Grill. As I took my first bite I appreciated how the burger remained intact rather than bursting into drippy pieces as many large ones do. That's when I saw how well made it was, how the thinly cut onion and tomato slices lying beneath a cap of lettuce resting on top of a hand made patty grilled to succulent perfection, resting on a melted stratum of American cheese between two fresh buns formed a single eloquently crafted whole. This cheeseburger, made with great ingredients, care and skill, was a great cheeseburger, the best one I've had in Alameda.

This is a really good place, if you can find parking and have the time. The cheese fries are awesome.

Really good place if ordering out, or at least sitting with 2.
Not many seats, no bathrooms, limited parking, and the wait time is usually 10-15 minutes depending on how busy it is.
Highly recommend calling in before you go.
The food however...the food...is delicious.
i usually get the cheeseburger with grilled onions and an order of fries (around $7ish)
The burger was juicy and the lettuce here is nice, fresh, and a little crispy. However, getting the grilled onions made the whole eating experience a bit messy. Just make sure the bottom of the burger is still wrapped/covered or your pants will pay. Might want to add a little more ketchup or something as the burger does tend to be a bit plain but definitely filling none the less.
The fries...the steak fries...
I'd be coming here more often if not for the fact that i have the need to run and exercise after eating here.
But do call in. -

I like this place - it's the tiniest business I've seen in a while - hole in the wall is an apt description. There are no seats inside it's just the kitchen really. The kitchen is manned by two Korean women who crank out a variety of burgers, one of whom always cooks with a surgical mask - that's a little scary. Thin patties of beef, cooked through with a variety of toppings. I don't care for the fries, they serve the thicker steak fries. I usually opt for the onion rings - caveat, these are not true slices of onion, rather they formed from onion pieces, like the frozen kind you get from the market, but I like them. There's a little parking lot they share with the bike shop and there is street parking too.

Am I missing something???
I've noticed that this place seems to have a loyal following, and I finally got the chance to check this joint out. Their menu is a little more diverse then most burger stands, and I figured sticking with the basics would probably be the best way to go on a first visit. The Alameda (1/3 lb) Cheeseburger was just okay. There was nothing memorable about it, and nothing about it made me want to rush back here for another one. The (regular) steak fries were a bit overdone for my liking...
The ladies who work behind the counter were pleasant enough, but that in and of itself can't save this review. Parking is hard to come by here as well. I also didn't care for the fact that there was no restroom. I was encouraged to go to the bike shop next door. Ugh... -

Vacaville, CA
Good solid American cheese burger and big crisp steak fries. I'd even say a terrific cheese burger meal for the price. No fuss no muss. My place in the Alameda area for a cheese burger. Burger toppings were really good...fresh lettuce, tomatoes and good onions (someone thoughtfully picked these out). Downside: there is no inside seating and they have a small outdoor seating area. Tough place to eat a burger on a cold day when you don't have somewhere else to eat it.

This is one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. Between the great service and the delicious food... there is no way to keep me from this place.
I had the bacon burger with steak cut fries (jesus christ was that good.) The bacon is not this Jack in the Box/fast food crap... Its BACON. Fatty ends, meaty salty centers with the grease still dripping off of it. A big plus was that they offer grilled onions for free. The only way this place can be better is if they offer Avocado on their burgers.
I didn't want to eat it because it looked so amazing. It gives new meaning to the phrase "Dont just stare at it, eat it." You get a high five if you get the reference. -

Alameda, CA
Awesome burgers, great curly fries and friendly service.
I've been here a few times with different people and always had a good experience and good feedback from the company I'm with.
There is a bench and a few small tables to sit and eat if your out for the day or wait for your order.
Food made when ordered here so plan on waiting 10 min + depending on how busy. It can be up to 20 min on a busy weekend day. Calling ahead has always worked out best for us. -

Small little place with outside seating. Only like 4 parking spaces with a time limit of 24 minutes.
Service:
The service is always friendly. The only thing is that I can't always understand them, which I don't really mind. It just that it seems to annoy them that I can't understand them. They kind of roll their eyes at me when I ask "I'm sorry, can you say that again?"
Food:
I really like their curly fries, but the onion rings are horrible in my point of view. Their burgers are pretty good and solid. I like to get their low-carb burger but it's hard to eat.
Overall:
I would recommend this place if you want a decent burger.Listed in: Alameda

Now I'm not a very big fan of burgers but the Deluxe Korean Burger is the bomb dot com. Haha. I can't believe I said that but it's true. It has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. My husband and I are already thinking about what I want to get the next time I'm craving for a burger.

We are talking about solid burger here folks. None of this McGriddles or Whoppers crap. This is a real man's burger joint so these burgers are called cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, teriyaki burgers etc.. Real men only save nicknames for things that are important to them (ex my penis is "Stanley" and my toilet is "Lucille" That's right no gay names allowed! (not that there's anything wrong with being a burger..or gay!)
The prices here are decent. $4 for a single, $6 for a double. The fries are OK and the onion rings are average. It's a great alternative to Jack'n'the Box, McDonalds and other places that rely on fruity cartoon figures to sell burgers. That's right.. just straight up burgers hold the Grimace. -

Big.

Juicy.

Burgers.
(and steak fries).
Only outdoor seating and really friendly people working there. The cook did have a surgical mask on so I freaked myself out a little bit thinking she might have SARS...but then I figured that I wasn't having unprotected sex nor did I share needles so I'd be ok....*cough*...wait a minute.Listed in: A-town edibles

I walked here today for lunch from work. I ordered the daily special. For Wednesdays that is a club sandwich and a small fries for $4.95. I also got a can of soda. Since I walked here, I ate here but I was the only one. They have seating out for 2 people in comfort and a cool custom made bench with a table bench attached to it, if the one table is taken. This is the perfect spot to sit and wait for your to go items. It looked like plenty of people called in their orders and just swung by to pick them up.
Nice little Alameda whole in the wall. -

This small burger stand is a delightful surprise. Every burger we have ever ordered has been perfectly cooked and juicy. The french fries are always super crispy and delicious. If you've been biking around Alameda all day, this place is the perfect stop to "refuel".

Good burger. Great fires. The owner is the nicest lady and I eat here all the time due to the fact that there are no other burger options in Alameda really besides Bips and that is on the opposite side of the farther away from me. They are on the same level. If you are an Alamedan you know that these things are true.

Probably the best burger next to Scolari's in Alameda. The burgers are juicy and the fries(even after being bagged for the drive home)were hot and crispy. I've had better but for a small dive like this the burger was A O.K.

When I get burgers, this is the place I go. Definitely the best on the island. They will customize your burgers and are very friendly. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The Sweet Potato and Curly Fries are top picks along with the Korean BBQ and Mushroom Burgers. But again it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu.
The only thing is that it's a small place with outside seating only and unless it's a nice day out it's ideal to make you order to go. -

Bay Area
4/5 Stars. A hidden location with uniquely delicious burgers.
Alameda Grill reminds me of a burger shack at the beach, minus the beach. When there are still five people in line ordering at the end of the lunch hour, it's a good indication that the burgers are worth it.
The small space and hidden location make it easy to miss this place, but the burgers will sufficiently satisfy your burger itch enough to make you return for more. Burger purists may want to stick with the Alameda Burger which won't let you down, but I recommend the Korean BBQ burger for the more adventurous.
Parking: Not the easiest, but there are handful of spots in a cozy lot. Metered street parking is also available
No indoor seating and outdoor seating consists of a couple of two-person tables and a longer bench.
Solid burgers at a decent price point in Alameda. -

Alameda, CA
Still retains 4 stars but I discovered something quite interesting that could affect all the customers of Alameda Grill. Yesterday evening, I purchased a chicken rice plate from the younger Korean lady. I was making change and had to sacrifice my silver half dollar (which is a huge coin mind you). Total was $7.08. Before I handed it to her, I told her "today's your lucky day. you get a half dollar coin". I give her the half dollar and $7 in bills. She places the half dollar coin separate from all other coins and gives me back 17 cents. WTF!? Of course I called her out on it. I would've believed it were a mistake if she had placed that half dollar coin with all the other quarters in the register but this wasn't the case.
I suggest counting your change fellow Yelpers.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My friend and I must come here AT LEAST once a week and sometimes just sometimes make it three times a week because it is that good!
We always get the Alameda burger with mushrooms and avocado with a side of fries and a tea. I am always more than satisfied with my meal and I always leave more than stuffed with goodness. I love this place, We love this place. The burgers are made to order and they have lots of other tasty items on their menu, such as!; rice plates and sandwiches. They have little seating and hidden away by the shadows of the bike shop out in front. But that only leads me to find this place cozy and warm. The two women that work their are also very welcoming and friendly.
They have truly turned me into a loyal customer, if I go anywhere else, I feel unbelievably guilty with shame that I am cheating on them!Listed in: yums

Yup the burgers are good! Who cares about the service, they're not that bad (sometimes they smile, sometimes they don't)...however I'd rather have great tasty food and order done right than have someone smile at me the whole time w/ shi**y food and all (but that's just me).
Yeah parking sucks but I've always been pretty lucky. -

Best burgers in Alameda. It's as good as home made hand shaped patties. Juicy and cooked just right.
The wait is kinda long because they are a tiny joint and you need to eat in the bicycle shop parking lot if you eat there. Very little seating. Get it to-go and your gold. -

My coworkers and I ordered over the phone after reading the reviews of how busy this place can get. It was VERY busy when we got there.
I ordered an Alameda (1/3lb) burger w/mushrooms, bacon & pepper jack cheese, plus their nacho cheese fries. I didn't find it to be anything too spectacular (I think the burger patty was from Costco). My coworkers on the other hand had their Korean & Korean Deluxe burgers...and I think the next time we go, I'll venture out and try one of those. They enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed mine...but it did hit the spot and I was definately full after. The nacho cheese sauce came from a can, & was microwaved...so I'll skip that as well.
I suggest calling your order in (look up the menu online) and allow ample time for parking. There's 3 parking spaces for compact cars that's shared w/the bicycle shop next door. These spots are COMPACT...b/c there was no street parking available, I took a spot and my truckbed was 1/2way on the sidewalk. There's also a long bench for outdoor seating & 2 small tables. We waited in line for a few minutes since there are only two ladies working, one cooking & the other one cashiering, answering the phone & bagging.
I'll probably go back. It was a satisfying meal, but not mind blowing. -

Alameda, CA
This is the best burger place in town. If you're strictly talking about the food. Pretty much take out only. They have a few benches and seats outside. But I usually just take out, so it's not a problem for me.
The burgers are great! Fresh ingredients, not too meaty or greasy (like Burgermeister) and just the right size. Their basic burger is just a bit larger than a double double. My all time favorite is Fat Burger, but with none around Alameda, this joint serves me just fine.
And , they have other yummy sandwiches, too. Since it's Korean-owned, they have an awesome bulgogi sandwich. It has mushrooms and onions sautéed into it! Their Philly cheese is also one of my top picks. They must use some high quality lean meat, because none of their sandwiches are ever that greasy.
Their fries are thick-cut steak style. I prefer skinny, myself, but they do have other options for the fryer, like onion rings, and curly fries.
Bottom line, if you want great burgers and you're not worried about the ambience, or you're going to take-out, this is the best place in Alameda. -
Review from Greg B.
Alameda, CA
The burgers are delicious (and also, the fries), but I've had a very different experience with the people who work there than other reviewers. Maybe its because I usually come near the end of their day and they've lost their smiles, but I've always found both the older and younger lady to be very unwelcoming. It reminded me of walking into the DMV.
Also, when they say that their closing time is 6PM, they really mean that they stop serving much earlier so they can be gone by 6:00. Don't arrive 10 minutes before closing and expect to get a burger, because they'll turn you away.
This could be a really great burger place with just a few improvements in customer service and extended operating hours for the dinner crowd.
