Alameda, CA
I originally got an estimate from Sid's Collision in Oakland since that's where my insurance company recommended. Sensing that place was bad news and having never heard back from them after the initial estimate (had to call the insurance company to get the details of the estimate), I decided to look for something in Alameda.
Arthur and his crew were terrific. The work was top notch and Arthur delivered on all his promises--from when the work would be done to how much it would cost. When I told him I was thinking of having my windows tinted, he got me a a great quote from an outside vendor and guaranteed the work for life. I was so pleased with the whole experience that I've decided to let them put a new grill on my Chrysler 300. I highly recommend this shop and will use them for all future repairs and customizations. -

I had a very specific project that needed to be painted. I own a photo booth company for special events like weddings and corporate parties, and my booth is constructed out of solid wood and needed a custom paint job. During the transport of the photo booth to our events it can sustain quite a beating (deep surface scratches). I didn't know if an autobody repair shop would even take on our project but Alameda Collision Repair stepped up to the plate and hit the proverbial home run with our booth. They filled in the blemishes and evened out the deep surface scratches and applied a special super high-glossy paint. Our booth has never shined so brightly and been so smooth before. Definitely happy with the service. Price was a bit high for our project, so that was the only drawback.

We were referred to Paul after we got rear ended. We checked out a couple shops in the area to get a quote, and Paul was the only one to get back to us the same day. This was our first accident, and the people at ACR were very helpful in walking us through the repair process. It ended up taking ~3 weeks to get the car back, when we were originally told 1-2 weeks, but it came back looking brand spanking new since they had to replace the entire back side/trunk. We didn't have any trouble with insurance - they handled everything smoothly. I would definitely recommend ACR to anyone!

I have a 73 Ghia that had a ladder dropped on it. I went to Alameda Collision Repair because of the yelp reviews and I was glad I did. Jose took my car and gave me the estimate. He was extremely nice and professional even though he was dealing with quite a few customers. The cost to repair a huge dent and a big paint chip was so low that I did not bother to file a home owners insurance claim. They matched the color perfectly and even touched up a few other spots. It is rare that I leave a repair shop feeling good about things that is why I had to give them five stars.

Wow, ...it's like having a new car!
I took my tired, scuffed and scratched 2006 Honda Civc to ACR for some TLC. Arthur and the team worked their magic, touching up scratches, polishing, removing HOV stickers, custom trunk emblem, window decal, and a deep clean inside and out. Great service and great prices!
It makes me excited to be driving my car again. -

ACR emloyee's at the Blanding st. location are dangerous and rude. They race their cars up and down Blanding ave, and often have their car stereo's blasting at an unbelievable level early in the morning, for all the neighborhood to hear and feel. Toxic fumes come wafting out of the building on a daily basis, often filling the air with a terrible smell. I say two thumbs down....

Paul and his crew do exceptional work. They replaced the hood of my car and because it was my only mode of transportation, they worked quickly to finish the job. Not only that, but they matched the color of the hood perfectly to the body of the car. I couldn't have asked for more from an auto repair service.

I took my car to Alameda Collision Repair after a high-speed collision caused about $5,000 worth of damage. Because an out-of-state trucking company was paying for the repairs, an independent appraiser had to write up an estimate. The appraiser took 2 weeks to respond initially and then failed to show up once the car was at the body shop. Arthur at Alameda Collision was great throughout the whole ordeal--my car ended up being at the shop for about six weeks, much of that time waiting for the appraiser to answer calls and emails. They didn't charge a storage fee, and they kept me updated during the process.
The car looks amazing--you would never know that it had been hit by a mack truck and bounced off of a concrete wall.
The reason I gave four stars out of five: unfortunately, when I picked up the car, the sunroof was broken. There wasn't time to take it back in to be fixed before I moved across the state, so now I have a sunroof that doesn't work. -

The manager contacted us to "make things right" and he did.
Maybe this was a fluke of mis-communication from the crew to management about the work done - either way I see it, it should be up to the owner to validate the work before they leave the shop.
Cheer to the manager for going out of his way to resolve this. For that, I'll update to "A-OK" - thanks!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Some asshat keyed our car a few weeks ago.
It wasn't the run of the mill keying (one line down the length of the car), this was sort of hieroglyphical in nature, very dense and intense, in a 1 foot by 6 inch patch on the driver's side door.
Turns out vandalism is covered on my auto insurance policy, so for the Vandalism deductible ($100!), I could get the damage repaired.
AAA suggested Alameda Collision Repair (just a block or two from my cheese and wine shop), and I dropped the car off.
They were friendly as pie, and arranged for a rental car to be delivered to my shop,
They had the car looking better than new (truly - they detailed the entire car, and it looked like a million bucks), as promised, three days later.
They were professional, friendly, clean, trustworthy and loyal.
Generally, you do have a choice with body shops after an accident. If you're in the East Bay, try Alameda Collision Repair.
Tell 'em the Cheesemonger sent you. You won't be sorry! -

We took are car here in mid November. ACR did a good job at fixing the damage. The staff was helpful and friendly. It took 1-2 day long then estimated time but that was OK.
The i didn't give them a 5 star because,
-I had a little paint on the window, I guess they didn't tape it off very good
-The windshield fluid was disconnected
Now i did get a hold of ACR and they could fix it with no problem, i just had to bring the car back. But i fix it myself.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Paul looked at my car's damage (back bumper), took photos for the insurance company, and created an accurate estimate. He was very efficient and scheduled a time for me to bring my car in.
Picked up my car today and met Arthur, the owner. You can tell he has high standards and everyone working there does, too. He takes pride in his shop and the work they do. They washed my car (boy did it need it!) There was a bit of rain on my car and he got a cloth to wipe it off to show off the shiny new paint. I commented about how dull the rest of my car now looked and he gave me some suggestions which were helpful.
I hope everyone drives safely . . . but just in case . . . go to Alameda Collision Repair! -

When I had an accident recently, my insurance agent recommended two repair shops to me. I chose Alameda Collision Repair, and I'm sooo glad! The work is perfect; the car looks better than it did before the accident, and they even detailed out the inside, so my baby is all clean. Arthur really worked with me and the insurance to make sure I got my beloved car back (14 years old and 165,000 miles, and still going strong), and was so nice as well. I would go back for any work I needed, in a heartbeat.

I selected Alameda Collision Repair purely because of it's convenient location in Alameda off of Park St and I really lucked out. They are friendly, professional and most importantly do amazing work.
I brought in my Infiniti G35 that was rear ended and was worried about them being able to match the paint color, but they pulled it off perfectly. They were even able to repair certain panels (perfectly) instead of replacing them as two other shops wanted to do.
An added plus is that they are right near an Enterprise rental car (walking distance) if you need alternate transportation while your car is with them. -

Came to this repair shop to get the backend of my car fixed. After getting my car back, I never knew my Camry could look so good. Out of courtesy they cleaned oil stains in the back of my car and updated the spare tire. If you're looking to put your car in the right hands, I highly recommend Alameda Collision Repair.

I don't normally take the time or effort to write reviews for companies I do business with, but in the case of ALAMEDA COLLISION REPAIR I truly felt compelled.
I drive a black 07 Infinity that I take meticulous care of. When I park the car, I do so at the very edge of the lot to avoid door dings, as a result the car has remained in perfect condition, with exception to the FOUR hit & run/no fault accidents I have fallen victim to in the last 2 years.
The first time I went to a shop recommended by insurance company right here in ALAMEDA for AUTOBODY work ... BIG MISTAKE! It was a fight with the shop just to have the correct parts used in the repair. They were cutting corners by using aftermarket parts that didn't fit, once they had the check from the insurance company, I was truly at their mercy, and had to return the car again and again before it was even close to right.
The next time I took it to ALAMEDA COLLISION REPAIR, and worked DIRECTLY with Arthur, the owner, who took great care to make sure the repairs were done right. I was extremely happy with the outcome. Not only did it look great, but they delivered it when promised, and seemed to go the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the end result.
Then a few months later I had a minor situation, and because it was geographically more convenient, I elected to take it to a MAJOR AUTOBODY shop in San Carlos. Again, I was extremely unhappy with the quality of work. When I brought the car back to have the drips, runs, and blemishes in the finish fixed, the guy at that shop acted like he couldn't see what I was talking about! I felt insulted, after all this is HIS business, I would expect him to be able to pick out those imperfections much easier than I could. After returning the car several times, although each time there was slight improvement, I could still see many imperfections. I finally gave up.
Then (again) last month some a-hole hit my car while it was parked, causing over $6500 in damage! This time I took my car back to ACR, again worked with Arthur on the initial estimate and eventually the supplemental claim. After ACR had gotten the car taken apart, they discovered additional hidden damage, which I expected would mean a delay, but that was not the case! They finished on time as promised, and the car looked perfect! As it turns out Arthur was on vacation for the tail end of the job, which initially worried me, but Bernadette was every bit the service oriented accommodating professional I could have hoped for. Frankly, I find that is not often the case when you go from working with the owner of a business, to working with the staff, especially when the boss is away. Thank you ALAMEDA COLLISION REPAIR. You are the best in the bay area bar none! -

On the morning of December 14, 2007 I was getting ready for work and I backed my Volvo station wagon into the driveway at my new house. I had just checked some stuff in the back of the station wagon and had forgotten to close the driver's side rear door. CRUNCH!!! I wrenched the door when it hit the fence. I felt like a fool.
After many repair estimates ranging from over $2000 for a complete door replacement to $250 to paint a "Pick 'n" Pull" door, I took a chance that I didn't bend the door frame and replaced the door myself with the aforementioned "Pick 'n' Pull" ($30) door that I picked and pulled myself.
Arthur Mercado, the owner of Alameda Collision, in advance of my "self-repair" was extremely helpful in directing me to places where I could find a used door as he quickly ascertained that I wanted to save some money and was willing to do some grunt work myself.
To make a long story short, Arthur was more than willing to assist me...remember, he could have made a lot more money by not doing so, and by doing a factory replacement job could have cashed in.
He offered to paint the door for $250 and his paint guy did an incredible paint match to my 10 year old paint.
I thought he demonstrated exemplary customer service above and beyond the norm and the job was done promptly and to my specifications.
I highly recommend this shop. Thanks, Art! -

I looked around for a while for a shop to restore my 65 mustang fastback and finally handed my baby over to Art at Alameda Collision Repair. This was a big decision considering I live in Milpitas and ACR is more than a few miles away.
I came away highly pleased with Art's explanation of the process, work performed, and pricing that includes lifetime guarantee.
I will definitely go back. -

I can't say enough good things about Arthur and his team at ACR. On top of the high-quality, fairly priced work that they do, these folks go the extra mile when it comes to customer service.
When my car was involved in a recent fender-bender, Arthur worked closely with the third party's insurance company to make sure that I didn't have to pay one penny out of my own pocket for the repairs. He helped install my kids' car seats back in my car and even vacuumed out my rental (so I wouldn't get charged a cleaning fee) and returned it for me!
On top of looking like new again, my car had been washed, vacuumed out, and had a full tank of gas. Talk about customer service!!!
If you need any type of collision repair work done, run - don't walk - to ACR. -

Alameda, CA
I had some work done by this shop because my insurance company referred me to them and told me their work would be "guaranteed." Big mistake. They replaced the car's hood so it was crooked and the paint on the hood and the bumper they replaced is now bubbling and chipping.
Although they did finally fix the crooked hood, they have so far refused to acknowledge the paint as defective and/or to repair the work. I have had multiple other collision shops confirm that the paint is defective.
I'm waiting for my insurance company to resolve this problem but I would never go to Alameda Collision and Repair again. -

I didn't get anything done, but I got an estimate from Arthur, the owner of Alameda Collision Repair. From just the 15 or so minutes I spent at the place, I could already tell why it got such good reviews on Yelp. Arthur's friendliness, knowledge, and honesty are definitely reasons to recommend this body shop.
I think what's really important about Arthur is that he won't force you into getting anything done that you don't need. He'll recommend lower-priced options if there are any available. -

Of the three estimates I had done for the cosmetic damage on the front of my car (low-speed collision left the front paint scraped and cracked and maybe damage underneath), this one was the highest.
I don't have any way of telling how good their service is, but they didn't seem very busy. -

Review from Monique G.
Alameda, CA
After some "highly energetic" driver pushed me off the road because, he/she could not take turn in their lane and went over to my side, I ended up "hugging" the wall and I scraped the passenger side of my car. Later, I realized that I could had let him/her hit me and it would had been his/her fault, because of driving into my side of the road-, but I did not do it. At that moment, instinctively, I was trying to avoid a collision. I did not get that driver's license plate number and I had nothing I could report to the police (there were no witnesses), so I ended up covering the cost of the repair.
I went to several shops at Alameda and their quotes were VERY high. I was reluctant to go to this shop, but I finally changed my mind. I honestly expected them to give me a similar quote and I thought they, too, would tell me what else they would "need" to fix. Each shop wanted to replace parts, which was driving up the price. But when Arthur, the owner of the Alameda Collision Repair shop-, spoke with me he told me that he would be able to fix it without needing new parts. He explained to me how they were going to do it and I was, at first, skeptical. I also did not want the whole passenger side to be painted, because each panel would cost an additional $300 or so. I knew that the color of my car was difficult to match (metallic cabernet), but I was willing to live with having a slightly different shade of it. At that time in my life, there were too many things happening and I could not afford any additional costs of this repair.
Arthur offered several discounts and the overall price was reasonable. He was not pushing me to paint the extra panel to bland the color, and he was respectful of my financial limitation, at that time. The repair was completed on the day, which it was promised. When I saw my car, I was shocked, because that side of my car looked like new. The paint was so well matched that I had hard time seeing the difference in the color. I only knew about it, because Arthur pointed it out to me. The part of the side panel, which was pushed in and was slightly mangled, looked like new. In fact, I asked him whether they decided to replace the parts, but he said that they did not have to do it. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and I am very happy with their service. If I need another auto body repair, I will certainly return to this shop. -

On the advice of a friend, (who owns many vehicles, wouldn't go anywhere else, etc, etc) I decided to let Alameda Collision Repair handle my car. Did I say? I love my car and no one has "handling rights" besides my mechanic and a few selected people! I met with Arthur the owner, who took time to explain what and how the repairs would be done & when the car would be ready. Arthur was true to his word. My car was ready even before the promised time. There is absolutely no evidence of old, just brand new and shining. Over the years, I always heard there are no great auto body shops, maybe good but none great. Well, my fellow Yelpers, take notice as Alameda Collision Repair is GREAT!

Recommended by my insurance company, I was not disappointed. The work was beautiful...they even let me come in on a saturday, while they prepped for a holiday party. I was referred here by the guys at Big O Tires in Alameda, and came away happy with the minor work I had done. They repainted the trunk, popped out some dents, and polished up a few minor scrapes that had accumulated over the last 2 years. They did the work on time and didn't try to "upsell" me for unnecessary paint work (i.e. where I could touch up a couple of paint chips myself).
Another perk: they are currently giving discounts if you pay cash, and you can also get a small discount at the rental car place down the street while your car is being repaired.
All in all, nice service and good work, at least as far as I can tell since picking up my car this morning! -

Great work. Got me in quickly, very reasonable price. Very thorough. When I went to pick up the car, the back-up camera wasn't working properly. He gave me a lift home, fixed it immediately, and delivered the car to me at my house. 100% customer focused. Great business.

San Francisco, CA
i really like this place. i checked out a bunch of repair shops in the bay area before i decided to drop my baby off here. i went in for an estimate and arthur was just so friendly... i knew my car was going to be in good hands because he gave it an inspection more careful than any other shop and also took the time to patiently explain the details of the damage to me. (i was rear ended and had to get my bumper replaced) AND out of all the shops i went to, they gave me the cheapest estimate!
they took care of the insurance and i got my car back all nice and clean looking as good as new. they also replaced a screw for my spoiler that was missing, but had nothing to do with the damage i went in there to for. unsolicited kindness is always so much more impressive! they also said i get a lifetime guarantee on everything they repaired. cool beans. fortunately, i haven't had the need to use it.
the only con: they took one hour longer to make the repairs. but it wasnt a big deal to me.
an extra convenience: rent-a-car enterprise is down the block, and if you tell them that the shop referred u, u get a tiny discount on the rental. i think it was 5%....i forget. and they also waive the under 25 fee. and then when you return the rental car, u can just drop it off at the shop.
great experience, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
