Great service and very friendly caring staff!
Had insurance claim work done here. The kept me informed of the progress and took care of the rental for me as well. Work was well done and car came back cleaner than it has been in years - inside and outside.
Sonya was great in driving my car to Albany Subaru to get some electrical work done after the calibration for the seat belt alarm was off caused by an accident. The alarm would have driven any one crazy as it was designed to do.
Be sure to say hi to the "guard dog" who might lick you to death or steal your seat on the couch. -

I started taking my cars here about 2 years ago. The staff is great, they can do anything from restorations to big customs stereo work. I refereed and few friend her and CJ and Sonya took good care of them! Plus no hassles with dealing with insurance since they are a AAA credited shop! Thanks again!
PS: My grill fell off my BMW, I will call CJ tomorrow to order a new one !

CJ at Alameda Classic Auto Body referred me to Mike, a car-stereo expert, who quickly came and diagnosed my problem (4 blown speakers) and replaced them immediately at a fair price. Kudos all around. Highly recommended.

Love love love this place. Alameda Classic Auto Body was recommended to me by three friends and I'm so glad I chose them for my car repairs. My Accord was suffering some serious back bumper damage from being parked on the streets of SF for years and then was sideswiped by a coworker, so I finally decided it was time for an overhaul. My car looks so good now that I almost feel guilty that I was thinking of selling it before.
Sonya the receptionist is great - she worked with the insurance company to get me a rental car and kept me updated on my car's progress. CJ, the owner, walked me through what they could do and what it would cost so I could decide how much work I wanted done. He even managed to keep a straight face when pointing out that they could fix my front license plate that was duct-taped on (so classy, I know). And he's ridiculously attractive, to boot. (Major bonus!)
5 stars, all the way! -

I live in San Francisco and make the drive here whenever I need anything fixed. I recently was a victim of a hit and run, the side mirror on my Mercedes was completely damaged. I was so frazzled after my Mercedes dealership took their time returning my calls and when they finally got back to me they quoted me an absurd amount. My friend had referred me Alameda Classic Auto Body. What a relief! The price was much more realistic to fix my mirror so I decided to have all my dings and scratches taken care of while they were at it. They fixed my car quickly and she looks great! I hate dealing with stuff like this and I am pretty clueless when it comes to cars. I dread going to car repair shops since most of the time they make me feel like an idiot. That is not the case here! I am a girl car stuff is not my thing so needless to say I am so grateful they got me in and out and my little benz shows no signs of how awful I am at parking in SF. Go to CJ he is extremely professional and always makes sure everything is done in a timely manner awesome guy!

I own a super problematic VW Golf. I've put (easily) more money into repairing it than I would have spent buying a problem-free Toyota of the same year. People like to constantly remind me of this.
I'm also kind of an idiot when it comes to curbs and remembering where they are in conjunction with my car. I really shouldn't own a VW, right? Keep this in mind.
So. Let's rewind to a couple months ago. Maybe a year. My left turn signal in the front goes out. I don't really get around to changing it, and then two of my three tail lights go out. Guys, this is Alameda Island, where cops drive relatively expensive cars tricked out to look like they should be in Transformers, and the speed limit is *only 25mph*. They have nothing to do. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT PULL YOU OVER.
And, uh, I get caught. So I'm like, "Whatever, fixit ticket, I'll get around to it."
Meh. I do, but not intentionally. It, like the guy below, has a faulty front bumper. Remember that curb issue? Yeah... I have, more than once, yanked off the front right side of my bumper. Usually I'd just have my dad do it, or myself, but I actually managed to really screw it up this time and it was more than half off. Duct tape, it is your friend. Sometimes. On top of that, I had already had a dangling water-safety-shield thing, I think VW calls it a "protective cover" so that shit doesn't fly up into your engine and cause problems.
On the advice of a friend I decide to go and see if someone can actually re-attach my bumper, because haha, duct tape? wasn't holding up the shield. I tried, guys, I tried. But it was dropping and scraping. I like Alameda, but a lot of places look shady.
My sister pointed to Classic Auto Body and I LOL'd thinking, "Dude, no one touches a VW, why would they?"
Lo and behold! they would. Actually, they tried. After getting it up and checking shit out, they found that my shield wasn't salvageable, and after some research of calls or whatever it is mechanics do, found that a new one would cost $500 and had to be shipped from Germany---or pik-n-pull from a car that had rear damage. I'm waaay too lazy for that. But! They did put my bumper back on and!!!!! CHANGED MY LIGHTS. I wasn't even expecting that. Super sweet. Helped stop my procrastination, that's for sure.
AND ON TOP OF THAT! They have a DOG there! Sweetest black lab ever. She ignored my pup (she's my co-pilot, always in the back seat and snoring) but that's ok because omg who doesn't love a place where they have a dog there?
I hope I don't have a reason to go back there, but should something else happen body wise I'll probably go there first before anyone else (and no, not just to play with their dog). -

i would check out Alameda Collision Repair before I used these guys. The owner is a super nice guy, but the painter/shop manager (english guy) is a total ^&%$ bag. Do your homework and compare...its a no brainer. **UPDATE** Yelp has filtered my review! WHY??? Filtering is pointless...when YELP first started it was legitimate...now, i'm not so convinced.

I had Alameda Classic remove and replace two of my window moldings, and they did it for FREE!!! They could have easily charged an hours worth of labor. They also have wifi in their customer waiting room.
That made my day..... Thanks Alameda Classic! -

I have brought in my car for repairs on three separate occassions. They have always been helpful, friendly and completed the work on time. Each time, the work looks flawless. I also have gone to them for advice on how to fix small probelms on my own. They are always happy to give advice. I am completely satisfied with this place.

my front end of my car got cracked up in a three car pile up on 880. unfortunately for me i had just switched my insurance from full coverage (i saved $140 per month) to just liability so the repairs came out of my pocket. i got three estimates and chose alameda classic auto body. i prepaid for the parts needed and they brought the parts in before i brought the car in so they could pain them. ok. cool. after bringing the car in on a tuesday they said the car would be ready friday at noon. they called me the day before and let me know they were still on schedule for the work to be completed on friday at noon. hearing nothing further, i walked to the shop to pick up my car and arrived a few minutes early to take care of the financial business. my car was not ready. the hood was attached, but the grill, bumper and headlights were not. the receptionist proceeded to let me know at that point that an extra part was needed and would be added to my bill. ok, fine. the car would now be ready by 2. the receptionist gave me a ride home. i called shortly before 2 to make sure the car was ready. it was so i went to pick it up. the car looked good, but on closer inspection, the paint was scratched where the grill fit in, like everything was in place and they popped in the grill scratching the surrounding material. i pointed this out and they came out with some touch up paint and dabbed it on. i then noticed the headlight on the driver's side had water mixed in with the seal and there was condensation on the inside of both headlights. their explanation was that they had just washed the car. (funny how that never happened before). there was really no response to this concern except to say that yeah, it shouldn't be like that but they felt time would take care of this problem and that if it didn't i was to bring the car back and they would fix it. lame. i then noticed that one headlight was set further back than the other one. after pointing this out, the receptionist went to talk to the shop owner about it - he was too busy fiddling around with some car parts to speak to me directly - there was no response to this concern. furthermore, while i was getting the estimate, the owner said he would pop out an existing dent and repaint if necessary for free. i thought that was considerably generous and was a factor when choosing a body shop to do the work. when i picked up the car, the extra dent was not fixed. when i asked about it the receptionist was surprised the owner had made that statement to me as the repair of that dent would have been charged at least $600. again she went back to the owner to find out what happened - wouldn't it have been easier and more polite for the owner to speak to me directly? - he told her to tell me the dent could not be repaired without additional paint. oh. overall, i have to say i'm disappointed in the amount of customer service offered after i agreed to have my work done in this shop and i'm not at all confident that the outter cover of my headlight isn't going to fall off at some point in the future. the car is fixed and looks ok - if you don't look too closely - and the additional part needed was only $70, but this experience has left me turning my head to the side and slightly squinting my eye as if to say...'dude, really?' just in case you're wondering, 'yes, this might not be the best work we've done, but if anything goes wrong bring the car back...' is not what customers want to hear. i'm considering taking my car to another shop along with my paperwork to make sure all the work billed for was done and to get a second opinion about the misalignment of headlights. boo.

Alameda, CA
I signed up for yelp just to write this review. I recently purchased a used car for a great price. Part of the reason for the great price was because the front bumper wasn't securely in place. I figured I'd take it into a body shop one day to get an estimate. I was on my way home going down Clement like I always do and noticed Alameda Classics. I figured I'd stop by and get an estimate on fixing the bumper. The worker there inspected the bumper and said I'd have to replace the entire bumper because the hole for the bolt that secures the bumper to the body was broken. But he said that he can try and use a really big washer and see if he can get the bumper to stay . . . for free! I took my car into the shop's garage on the spot, and the worker (I should've gotten his name!) spent about 5-10 min's to fix it- and it worked! It's obviously not as secure as a new bumper, but the fact that he offered to mend it for free was reason enough for me to jump onto Yelp and rave about these guys. What kinda body shop offers free services nowadays? They benefited nothing from me. Not a dime. And after he was done fixing the bumper, he didn't use the free service as leverage to try to sell me on how they can fix all the other little body problems on my car. He just shook my hand and sent me on my way. Awesome service to say the least. If I need body work done in the future, I'll definitely be swinging by Alameda Classics!
