This zoo is a sad little zoo.  There was an extreme fascination with goats as that seemed to be the dominant animal.  The aviary had the birds in their own little cages instead of flying freely.  Each exhibit warned to not cross the fence but there was no need to worry about that.  Inside the fenced area was an even smaller cage that contained the animals.  There was no possible way anyone could touch or disturb the animals.  The zoo setup is very much like that of 1950s and 1960s zoos with the animals in cages instead of the new attempts to display the animals in a somewhat natural habitat.  We covered the entire zoo in an hour.  I found the admission to be a bit steep for the the quality of the zoo.

My family also had very disappointing interactions with the employees.  My daughter was watching one of the zookeepers feed the crocodiles and we were standing 4-5 feet away wondering whether they were alligators or crocodiles.  The zookeeper ignored our conversation and walked away instead of offering some information on the animals.  My daughter then wanted to follow the zookeeper to see what she was doing next and was very vocal about this.  The zookeeper continued to ignore us.  It is quite hard to ignore a three year hold and it is very disappointing as a parent to see this happen.

Finally, there was little to no information as to what type of animal you were looking at or its history and habitat.

Cute little zoo, very clean. I was upset to see old phone books lying around in the monkey's cages until I saw that the monkeys LOVED playing with them, hilarious. We paid for the serval encounter in Jan 2012 and really, the serval was too big and too mature to be played with. He ripped a hole in my mom's sock and I certainly wouldn't let a child near him.  I think it's time to stop the encounters with him, but I'm sure he brings in a lot of money. Perfect zoo size for children, some zoos are too vast and spread out to let little ones walk around but our 2 year old had no problem. Nice little gift shop. Would recommend for anyone, young and old, but save your pennies ($15 worth) and skip the serval encounter unless they have a new kitten. Should add, it was REALLY hard to find unless you come up from the bottom of hwy 59, and it was wrong in our GPS.

This "zoo" is more of a glorified petting zoo with a few bigger animals in small cages. We felt sorry for many of the animals, including the baby ducks with no water in the sun. That being said, I'm glad we went because it was well priced and the kids loved it and it was so hot we probably couldn't have made it through a big zoo anyway. It was also hard to find - it was tucked in behind Zooland Miniature Golf.
