Los Angeles, CA
The gelato is quite phenomenal...but do not miss the gnocchi here! The food overall is amazing but the gnocchi is to die for. I would have never thought about ordering dinner at this little gelato cafe had it not been for a living social deal... but I can't wait to come back for dinner again! I also tried the garlic bread and meatballs which were both good but the gnocchi definitely stood out from the rest. For gelato, coconut and coffee crunch are musts.
The cafe is easy to miss on busy Robertson but it actually has a fair number of tables. Also seems to be a popular place for take out if you're lucky to live close enough to this gem. Street parking can be a little difficult but well worth the effort. Honestly I don't even like italian food very much but love this place! Go go go! -

The coffee crunch was amazing!
The service was excellent too - right before closing time, I had three guys waiting to hand me spoons of gelato to try. What more could a girl want? ;)
I was not impressed with the other flavors (tried a few more but not all). It's a bit out of the way so I wouldn't head over there for the coffee crunch only but I'd stop by if I'm in the area. -
Review from Ed F.
We stopped in here late this weekend as we were cruising Wilshire trying to find a little dessert and this place was open til 12:30 so it fit the bill. We were looking for chocolate lava cake but Imai sushi was recently converted into sushi mac/sushi cam so we left there still wanting something sweet.
Maybe I'm not a big gelato fan or maybe nothing beats Ben and Jerry's? We got three flavors which were strawberry and pistachio which were just okay, and then the coffee crunch was very good.
The staff were very polite and happy to give many samples. Maybe we just didn't try the right flavors... The amaretto was good, and I cannot comment on the food because we didn't get any. -

Last time I was in Santee alley, I saw a conversation between two bums arguing over their respective territories.
Bum 1: "Hey, fool! What you doing in my dumpster?"
Bum 2: "Bitch, I been trolling these streets 5 years now and I ain't never seen you."
Bum 1: "Five years? I've been here 11 years! They call me 'The Bear'. You best back the fuck up, before you get smacked the fuck up."
Bum 2: *cresftallen retreat from "The Bear's" threats by way of 2Pac*
I don't know why I referenced that particular event, it just seemed appropriate for some reason... anyway, Al Gelato's been the go-to date spot for dessert since 2001. I think my buddy originally turned me on to it after he found mention of the delicious gelato on Citysearch, yelp's ancient predecessor in the reviews game.
Vanilla with Lemon seems to be the house specialty but they have great coffee and cookie flavors too. I like how they give you one of those crisp Italian wafers with the order as well. I've tried the water based sorbets a few times, but I figure if I'm going to wreck my diet, I might as well hit it with a double whammy of sugar and fat. Also appreciate the way that you can get a sample of another flavor on top or whipped cream... however, do not like how they've continually decreased the portion sizes while simultaneously increasing prices on their offerings. One or the other, mang!
Strangely enough, I've developed somewhat of a possessive slant towards this spot, especially when seeing punk-ass kids going on dates here. A few days ago, I was working my game on some girl here and saw an obnoxious high school couple roll through.
The boy looking around proclaimed to his date, "Hey baby, I've been coming to this place for years." while she murmured some generic assent. Seeing as how they had claimed the table right next to us, I casually asked the boy, "Years, huh? How long you been coming here?" He coolly looked me up and down as he proudly claimed, "Five years". Giving him little time to inwardly gloat I replied, "Well, I've been coming here 11 years." *suddenly screaming* "They call me the bear!"
Needless to say, my date, and the couple - judging by how quickly they scurried away - didn't appreciate my unsolicited comments. The things I do to ensure interesting Yelp reviews. -

LOVE this place! Family owned business. Great people....always remember your name and what you order. SOOOOOO much yumminess in one place. What's good? Rigatoni, Chicken Cutlet, Meatballs, Gnochi, Hot fresh bread, and last but not least- the GELATO. Favorite flavors are: Coffee crunch, coconut, apple, rasberry, banana, and rainbow sherbert. Very low key. Just throw on your jeans and come with an empty stomach!

Gelato is good any day and it was good on this nice sunny Friday afternoon. Walked in and went straight over to check out the flavors http://www.yelp.com/bi.... They had your standard flavors.
I decided on a double and got a coconut and coffee crunch topped with whip cream http://www.yelp.com/bi.... The coconut gelato had toasted coconuts in them and had a good flavor. I almost wish I had just went with that. The coffee crunch was good too with a nice coffee flavor. The gelato were creamy and not overly sweet. The whip cream I believe was homemade as it was very rich. I almost got full with that alone.
This place does not only do gelato as I come to realize sitting next to a couple that were ordering off a menu. They offer a full menu with sandwiches, pasta, salad and other desserts. Maybe next time I will try some of their other items like the big ass $100 deep dish apple pie http://www.yelp.com/bi.... Totally worth another visit for this massive thing!
Eyes ~ Mmm which flavor to get!
Nose ~ !!!!
Mouth ~ Wow, very creamy and great flavor!
Tummy ~ So much, I should have stuck with one!! -

When a place is called a "secret Beverly Hills gem" I immediately turn up my nose. The term "secret gem" almost always indicates the writer doesn't understand the breath of the topic. It's like calling a meal "delicious" or "tasty." But when bombarded with 4/5 star reviews for pizza slung out of a gelato shop--I really don't have a choice--I'm going to stop in sooner than later to quell the hype.
It's true you don't expect pizza to be served here, but a gem it is not. This is your stereotypical generic non-chain pizza: a sweet flabby white bread crust, sauce that tastes more of dried herbs then tomato finished with decent cheese and topping. When people say "it's good" what they are actually saying is "it's better than Pizza Hut." A truth I can halfheartedly get behind.
Still, my waiter was pretty cute. But from now on he'll only be serving me the Cabernet gelato. -

ok. My final 2 star review for my recent LA trip.
Friendly, but somewhat rushed staff.
The single fly dive bombing me when I walked in the door should have provided a clue.
I just felt that when presented with my options related to my questions regarding their sandwiches, I couldn't easily decipher the differences, between their open face options, and bread options. (what is your specialty?)
The free "homemade" bread? Keep it. Was more tasteless carbs that I thought LA had abandoned years ago.
My sandwich was ok, but my partners ample rigatoni, the sauce was like Ragu with a cup of sugar added. Plainly too sweet, and just about inedible.
This is a local yokel place with food on par with some diners. Not a place you seek out on Yelp after you've traveled 3000 miles to make the most of your meals.
Chicken sandwich, rigatoni and a coke, $27!?
Overall I would not return here. Stick to their namesake gelato, and maybe you can cool off on a hot day. -

Al Gelato is a family owned (28 + years running...) Italian restaurant. It's the best red sauce, meatballs, pasta, ravioli, fresh baked bread & desserts and home made Gelato in town!
Weather you live in LA or visiting... I highly recommend Al Gelato for a delicious home style Italian meal.
Tell them Russell sent you...

Review from Ticha B.
Thanks Living Social! We had a Living Social cpn to use and ventured to the Westside to check out Al Gelato...something I would rarely do if it was rush hour.
First off, we came in on a Sunday night before the dinner rush. Parked right in front of the restaurant in the metered spot (no meter enforcement on Sundays..yay!). We were seated right away even though the restaurant is small and also had outside patio seating.
Service was OVERLY nice and friendly (in a good way)...that makes up for most of the high ratings here. Our waiter took care of us, hooked it up and offered and suggested different items on the menu and specials.
Everything was a big sweet when it came to the food (not a good thing), but for the most part, it was very good. The spaghetti pasta dish with their own sauce was big enough to feed 2 persons. The pasta was al dente and super good. The side of meatball was totally homemade and yummy and their pizza (we ordered the pizza with the different meats minus the bell peppers) was good. We ended up taking the pizza home and polished off the pasta. We also had room for the gelato. The trick (not really a trick since the waiter offered) was to order a bamino size with one flavor and then they give you a small "sample" of another flavor for you. Pretty much 2 choices instead of 1. BTW..the house salad was a bit too plain. So order yourself a specialty salad if need be. -

This place is a secret Beverly Hills gem for the last 28 years... yes over a quarter of a century. You have to be good to survive in a town like this.
This is a family owned Italian eatery and gelato haven. This restaurant is what one expects to stumble into somewhere in Italy. This is comfort food to its max and this restaurant has been putting a smile on my face since I was a toddler.
My favorite dish: Rigatoni Pasta with their classic red sauce topped off with a giant meatball. The sauce is clean and has a nice sweetness in its finish and the meatball is succulent and delicious. I also really enjoy the sausage and their home made gnocci... AMAZING.
TIP: SAVE ROOM FOR DESERT... LOTS OF DESERT.
Everything on their desert menu is out of this world. I am particular to their gelato selection... each made in house and crafted to perfection.
I recommend that everyone try this place out for a bite of real Italian home cooking. This place is not fancy... rather it makes you feel at home.

Beverly Hills is too much glamour or is perceived as such, however you see it.
This place is small town, family style Italian eatery Beverly Hills. It has great gelato if you want to go for the sweets. If you're hungry and would like to dine-in, their pizzas are really tasty and fresh!
Definitely a great Beverly Hills place that has been the local neighborhood favorite for decades. -

Don't be fooled by the less than spectacular decor at this Beverly Hills secret spot. I have come to Al Gelato many times growing up, and up until this point have only tried their phenomenal dessert. Well the time has come, and I have had the pleasure of exploring their wonderful Italian menu.
Life's short let's review the dessert first! Honestly Al Gelato has some of the best ice cream in town. There are many flavors to choose from. If you are like me, opt for the single scoop, as you get a ton, and a generous sample scoop of your choice on top as well. I decided to go decadent, and choose coffee crunch with a sample of chocolate hazelnut. Both gelato flavors had intense espresso/chocolate hints and were a highlight of my meal. I also got a chance to try my friends passion fruit ice, and wow-wee the flavors were bright, and made my mouth pucker! LOVED it!
On to the main course: Rigatoni al pesto with a side sausage. The portion was large enough to feed a small army. The pesto was delicious, not entirely too creamy, just the way I like it. The sausage was a little on the thin side. Definitely tasty, but an afterthought in comparison to the other food I ate.
Overall Al Gelato is a great casual place for a last minute night on the town. Great for couples, and also accommodating to big crowds. -

Sherman Oaks, CA
Five things gave this place a 5-star from me.
1) The Sauce. People in my cooking class were talking about how exceptional this sweet basil tomato sauce was. And they were right, with substantial flavor and balance, notes of anise and basil, and not a single bitter or acidic element. I had it with the rigatoni. This is how marinara sauce should be.
2) A big $6 meatball. Tender as heck, and very flavorful.
3) Homemade bread to die for. Crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. Major stress: do I slather with butter? or dip in the sauce from 1)?
4) Peppers and Olives. If you eat at the establishment, they offer this tidbit on the side. Some of the best olives I've ever eaten; they were pure heaven. And the peppers were just spicy and piquant enough to challenge the sweetness of the sauce and pasta.
5) Apple pie. I didn't have it with gelato, but I did have a touch of the hot caramel sauce and whipped cream with it. Pure, thin apple slices, and nice crust, combined with the decadence of caramel sauce. A wonderment.
Plus good, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Pricy? Yeah, a little, but I'm sure the rent is high (Bev Hills). You get a nice crowd of people LOVING their food around you, plus quality everything in the food. Isn't that what we all want? -

Los Angeles, CA
There is a comfort in a city that changes so much, that certain things are constant and consistence. I've been dining at Al Gelato since the '80's. Trends have changed, businesses and restaurants come and go, but Al Gelato is celebrating it's 28th year in business. Why? because it's that good!
It's a family run business now it's 3rd generation. The recipes for the gelato and sauces are those from the matriarch of the family who is now in her 80's. The service is attentive without being obsequious. It's busy and the food arrives quickly.
We had our staples of piping hot bread out of the oven, served with a crispy crust perfect for dipping in the sauce. I hear by etiquette standards that is perfectly acceptable. Not that it matters here. There is absolutely no pretense, just really good food.
The spaghetti and really big meatball are always delicious. The special of the night a chicken ravioli with a creamy white wine sauce were delicate little pillows of perfection. Of course we finished off with a perfect cappuccino and the legendary apple pie. Served with carmel sauce and homemade whip cream. Our server offered it ala mode with the crema gelato, but that would have been guilding the lily. -
Review from Andrew Y.
The aesthetic is simple: modest seating inside, a few chairs on the outside, an enticing display case of gelato, and familiar faces working behind the counters serving moderately priced Italian fare. The staff are friendly and some have worked there for quite some time. It's comforting to hear and see a waiter light up to their favorite food items and not simply because it's the seasonal special.
Their menu covers the Italian basics but a few household favorites easily stick out when browsing the plates of fellow diners: bread + marinara + gelato. A noticeable difference than other venues is the lack of up-sell - if a customer suggests a dish that may cost a bit more to combine flavors of another dish, the server will be quite honest in how each dish is prepared and why such a mix may not be palatable, though it is ultimately up to the customer's discretion. The house-made bread is another perk, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with olives and spicy peppers. It's difficult to not want an endless supply, but make room for the courses, because they are quite plentiful.
Penne with Alfredo - with a wine base, this sauce takes on a different tone than one would expect for alfredo. It's mild, but tart, it's light, but with distinctive flavors. It may be easy to think of that heavy and creamy alfredo standard, but here it is an entirely new introduction. The pasta was cooked al dente and tossed in the alfredo sauce adding the light familiar cream with their unique take.
Meatball and Sausage Sandwich - open-faced sandwiches have become a newer favorite, selfishly so as I came to realize that there seems to be a bit more filling served to balance out the absence of bread. Some melted cheese atop a giant meatball and sausage set on some housemade bread and saturated in marinara exudes savory. The giant meatball easily won out in its size and flavor blend with familiar but subtle italian spices paired with their sweet marina. The marina here is sweeter than one would expect and for some, perhaps too much, however it seems to be easy to fall in love with the sauce (as it seems to disappear quite quickly along with the food). The sausage was good, but not exemplary as sausages go, but enjoyable nonetheless in the dish.
Amaretto Gelato - One of my favorite flavors in the world of gelato and one of my easier choices to make. I look and I look and I sample and I sample, but I'm left with only two choices: undecided on which flavor to try or Amaretto. It has become a bit easier to choose the latter when I have already been overwhelmed with choices in my meal selection. The flavors were delightfully creamy and held up well when plated and served. I preferred the in-house service of gelato and the generosity in the portion size I was able to enjoy. The familiar flavor warmed me up and cooled me down and none was left to share.
Worth checking out when you're on the hunt for a new italian place! -

Definitely one of the hidden gems of the Westside, boasting a warm, family-style environment amongst the flurry of big, impersonal chain restaurants.
I rarely venture into the BH area for food (or anything else, for that matter...) but I'm always willing to make an exception for Al Gelato. Very low-key, no-frills type of place. They are family-owned, and their service is excellent every time.
Their specialty is the rigatoni pasta [a full size will comfortably feed 2], and don't forget the giant meatballs! For spicy-food lovers, ask for tabasco and it'll add an extra kick to the overall taste. I am absolutely in LOVE with this pasta and find myself craving it from time to time, even if it means I have to risk my life driving to Beverly Hills [where do these people learn how to drive?!] and wage small wars with other drivers trying to claim street parking.
Aside from the occasional boba/froyo trips, my husband and I aren't real big dessert fans, but oh man, their gelato is epic. Their bread pudding + crema gelato is to DIE FOR and a must-have for anyone that visits here.

Me and a friend were visiting the Museum of Tolerance on Pico and wanted to try a little Italian food after leaving there. We looked up Al Gelato on Yelp and saw that it had great reviews and decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we did! This place was awesome!
They started us off with fresh bread that tasted like it came from a bakery in San Francisco. We almost gorged ourselves on that alone. After that we decided to order the lasagna and a pizza with the works. Both were excellent!
The vibe of the place is really cool. It's not like a family owned type of place. It has more of an LA-hip vibe to it. But the food was fresh and very tasty. I'm sold on it. I know I'll return when I get back to LA. Already bookmarked it! -

I can't believe I havn't reviewed this place yet. It might be in the Beverly Hills zip code but don't let that deter you. The place is humbly furnished and the service is always friendly. And the food? Huge portions for less than $15. You get a whole pizza (that serves me two meals), a huge plate of homemade rigatoni (with great, sweet tomato sauce), or a giant sandwich with a slab of prosciutto thins that is about 2 fingers wide! The gelato is not authentic but it is housemade and delicious. You must go here if you want delicious Italian.

Response to "Do you have anything vegan here?": *pause* "...this isn't really the place for that..." Kinda awkward. I came here with a full belly just to keep friends company, but my buddy insisted on asking. A very nice waitress quickly swung by and whispered, "All of our soups are vegan, just so you know." Awww, thank you!
I munched on DELISH bread and a piece of fried zucchini. I have no idea if they were actually devoid of animal products but they didn't appear to be suspect and didn't cause a tummy ache later, always a tell tale sign. The olive oil had a bug in it, but the waiter was extremely apologetic and quickly got us another bottle. My pals enjoyed a BBQ chicken pizza (verdict: "Good, but CPK does it better") and a chicken cutlet salad. The gelato bar looks INSANE and if someone I knew had a hankering, I wouldn't hesitate to send them this way.
While this won't be on my personal radar, it's a solid place with good food to keep omnivores happy, and plenty of bread (and potentially soup) to keep me occupied. -

This was our first time trying out this restaurant and we just so happened to time our arrival when a kids soccer team was having a little get together. The noise level was a 10/10. Joe, the owner, and his staff repeatedly apologized for the noise, stating that it's never usually like that. Because we were so excited to to try this spot, we didn't let the noise bother us. The staff was also very attentive.
We tried the Beef Lasagna and the Casalinga pizza. Both were delicious, but the lasagna was definitely the standout! Sugar was added to the sauce so it had a unique sweetness to it. For dessert, we had Apple Ice, Pear Ice and Candy Cane gelato. All three were good, but the standout was the Candy Cane. So yummy we took home an extra pint. When we got our check we were surprised to find out that our gelato was taken off our bill as yet another apologetic gesture for the noise. It is extremely rare to find customer service this great anywhere! A+ to Joe and his staff! We will definitely be going back!
One tiny negative - Because of the size of the restaurant you will be seated no more than a foot away from the next table so privacy will be at a minimum. -

Al gelato is probably the best authentic Italian place I have had so far in los angeles! Everything is so fresh, homemade, and delicious!
Dinner: For dinner, my friends and I shared the meatball, chicken cutlet (which was my favorite, so tender and cooked to perfection), and some pasta. The pasta melts in your mouth and I am 100% sure they make their own fresh pasta daily here! The marina sauce is also very fresh and tastes so good!
Dessert: supposedly they are famous for the desserts as they have their own gelato counter however I actually enjoyed dinner more than the dessert (which is odd because I have a huge sweet tooth)! There are various flavors of gelato to enjoy so do not be shy to ask for samples of whatever gelato you want to try! We had the coffee gelato on top of a chocolate cake which was good and we also had a slice of their HUGE apple pie (what kind of oven bakes that!?!)...both desserts were good but nothing special.
Parking: Al gelato is located in west Hollywood so it is difficult to find free street parking. I ended up parking right outside the restaurant (lucky me!) and had to pay for the meter.Listed in: Dessert

A nice chill spot to grab lunch or a heaping serving of chocolate chip gelato! The pasta is al dente, and the meat balls are definitely the best in town, the gravy is sweet (hence the 4 out of 5 stars), but tasty all the same.

Review from Ratika N.
Super friendly service! We arrived late in the night for some gelato. Was in the area and in the mood for some gelato. After reading the reviews on yelp, I knew had to try it.
The gelato was good, not the best I've had but in this area, you can't do better than this. I loved the chestnut and the amaretto flavors, the pistachio one was not good....for this flavor, head to Grom in Malibu as nothing beats that in LA!
The service was super friendly and welcoming. The owner was curious how we found out about the place as it was late in the night and we headed straight for the gelato counter. They do load the gelato with whipped crème on top and a wafer and it made it a pretty tasty dish in itself. The whipped crème was really fresh and fluffy...not a big fan of whipped crème but I loved it!
They have a cool lunch menu which loved pretty inviting. If I worked nearby, I might have stopped over for lunch to try some of the calzone/pasta dishes. It's a small place and kind of quaint....overall, would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area.Listed in: Ice cream time!

First visit, and it won't be my last!
The food was amazing. Started off with their homemade bread. Delish! For the entree we got the 1/2 rigatoni with the giant meatball and the tomato & sweet basil sauce for 2 people. I still had leftovers! It was amazing, but I had to stop eating to save room for dessert. For dessert, my son and I had to compromise, I wanted cake he wanted gelato. So we got the red velvet cake with hazelnut gelato, a la mode. The citrus and cream cheese frosting on the cake was to die for! Even my teenager loved it. Only thing, was the fresh cream wasn't as sweet as we like, but the sweetness of the cake and gelato combined did even it out.
Last but not least, everyone was so welcoming from the moment we walked in to the restaurant. Even encouraged us to try samples of the gelato. They really don't look at you strangely if you ask for a sample. Always a good thing. Even got a thank you and Happy New Year as we left. Now that's A+++ service. This place won my heart. -

I would just like to say that they got rid of the chocolate hazelnut flavor, which was my favorite ice cream flavor of all time, and i don't know how to cope with that. the apple pie a la mode however is TO DIE FOR, as is pretty much anything on the dinner menu or dessert.

This is definitely a hole in the wall place. No frills, just yummy gelato! I came with two other friends for a late night dessert. My friend recommended the BREAD PUDDING. We ordered it a la mode, which comes with 2 scoops of gelato. We chose COCONUT (highly recommended by our server) and COFFEE CRUNCH. The bread pudding comes out warm and drizzled with caramel sauce. The coldness of the gelato goes perfect with the warm bread pudding.
So it seems that this place serves up pizza and pasta on the side as well. The pictures looked decent. Will definitely come back to try their entrees.
Parking: Street metered parking out front. -

I am not a huge Italian food fan, but when I do like an Italian restaurant, I LOVE IT!
Food aside, the place is the epitome of perfect mom & pop place that L.A. seems to lack. It is in one of the nicest neighborhoods - yet it does not convey that gross pretentiousness that 80% of the Robertson area seems to have. It's a humble, intimate space, with the best staff - ever.
Yet, the food is what makes this place perfect. The red sauce here is incredible. It has an unmatchable savory sweetness that you will NOT find at any other Italian place. The bread here is made fresh (twice) daily.... needless to say anything here with "bread-like" ingredients is fantastic! (The bread pudding and its rich caramel sauce is unforgettable, the crust on their pizza has that flavorful sourdough-like taste that's hard to find - not to mention their gourmet ingredients! Get the Eggplant pizza, it sounds funny, but the way they sautee the eggplant before they finely slice it almost makes it taste like meat).
Best of all, is their homemade gelato. Hence the name. Indulge in any flavor - I promise you can't go wrong (but my heart belongs to the infamously dark colored cappuccino, it's almost a black color, it's impossible to miss). Their staff is so generous - they make the typically threatening free tasting process as if your mom is on the other side of the counter. -

Made the stop to try their Pizza and Gelato. Their Pizza are DEEElicious. Kind of pricey. A small peperoni pizza is $12, but it's really good and not that greasy!
Of course we end our meal with their Gelato. Mango sorbet, Pistachio nut, and coffee. (I know, the mango flavored threw the mix off, but it tastes so good) :-)
street metered parking maybe a hit and missed depending on how busy they are.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Their gelato and sorbet are fantastic! We took a friend who's lactose intolerant there, and he was super excited by how many choices they had (I guess usually places only have one or two?) I usually don't like sorbet, but I tried his, and loved them. I think my favorite of the sorbets were chocolate ice and pear (which tastes just like an asian pear). Of the gelato flavors, I think pumpkin, creme brulee, and hazelnut were my favorite.
I haven't had their dinner, although I just found out that they make gluten-free pasta (in a separate pot!), which makes my husband super excited since he's been wanting to try their meatball sandwich for ages now. -

On the recommendation of a fellow Foodie, we checked this place out and Mama Mia, is it good!
I don't know what those crazy Italians put in that Sweet Basil Tomato Sauce [which they make fresh every day...] but it is to die for. We will be heading there tonight for our third time and hoping that this time we'll actually be able to fit some gelato in. We've yet to manage that because we gorge ourselves on the freshly baked bread, which is unique dense bread with a crusty outside. Thus far, we've had pizza, ravioli [pesto] and the gnocchi [red sauce] all of which was heaven! The only thing I'd consider bumping them down for was the salad, which was "eh".
The other bonus is that its BYOB. They had just started accepting credit cards the last time we went in. Not fancy in the least, in fact from the outside it looks like a dump but it wouldn't be possible to have a bad meal here!!! :o) -

Had a "small" cappucino gelato. The ""small"s are quite large and for $3.95 only a slight premium to 'premium' supermarket ice cream. It comes with a classic wedge cracker and either whipped cream or a good sized tasting scoop of another flavor (pistachio for me).
Strong flavors and good textures. Next time I'll get a kiddie size or split one. Also next time I'm coming for pizza first. The pie delivered to the next table over inspired quite a bit of envy. It looked delicious. Possible 5-star upgrade coming. -

Late night gelato. An excellent way to get out at night and pig out. Had a double scoop (they measure by flavors... so two flavors) which was $5.95. Had both Italian cookies and cream and creme brulee. The latter was very sweet and creamy, the former was more frozen or just more solid in texture. They were both tasty but I preferred the cookies and cream. The scoops were topped with whipped cream and a triangle wafer-like cookie.
Service was friendly, had a few tastes and we were able to enjoy dessert in peace.
I'll have to come back one day when the kitchen is open... but for gelato (that's very ice cream like...) it'll do for a late night snack. -

When: Monday night dinner with 5 friends.. Awesome family style service.. Plenty of street parking.
The Food: for 6 people we ordered a large pizza, 3 meatballs to split and 3 pasta dishes -- spinach ravioli, pesto gnocchi, and risotto. Pizza was loaded with toppings (I think we got the meaty one) and the all the pasta dishes were perfectly cooked and the sauce was a little sweet, just the way I like it. Meatballs were the size of softballs, and very flavorful. Everything was amazing (pesto gnocchi was prob my fav) and filled us all up with plenty of leftovers.
Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we ordered.. I think total was around $25/pp.
Now for the best part.. the Gelato! I had the cappuccino flavor and it was freaking AMAZING.. if you opt out of whipped cream on the top, they will give you a mini scoop of another flavor, topped with a thin biscotti like cookie.
I got hungry just writing this review.. I would definitely come here again!
Cherry on top -- You can bring in your own wine!!!
