Review from Omar A.

We were in the area, so my wife decided to stop by here to get some hijabs (Muslim head scarves). They have a huuuuuge selection of hijabs in all types (long, foldable, square, etc) and colors.
They also sell other types of modest Islamic clothing, such as abayas and skirts and the prices are really good. I am not sure as to the quality of the stuff, but the pricing is great.
My wife ended up buying a bunch of hijabs and the owner gave her a good discount, which was really nice of him. Overall, this place is great..granted I am a guy and don't have much to compare it to :) -

Theives! My mom bought an abaya and paid for alterations. They botched the alterations and when she picked it up on EID DAY, they couldn't find it for 45 minutes. When they finally did and she got it home, it was too short and not altered the way she asked. She called, confirmed that she would return it, and now the owner is accusing my mom of wearing it and bringing it back. He's refusing to give her any money back without jumping through hoops first. If that's how he makes his money, more power to him, but as far as we're concerned, that's stealing.

I would give them 0 stars if I could...
They are VERY rude to non-muslims. My in-laws are muslim so I came here to check out some appropriate wedding outfits to attend some events. The first time I went I got a brief 'hello' and then was ignored the rest of the time. Fine, whatever.
The second time I went was in the evening. I was with my husband. We went in and looked around in the store which seemed abandoned with no workers. Part of the lights turned off so we figured they were closing. We headed for the door when two women came out of the back.
Older woman: Oh, hello....
Me: We were just leaving...
Older woman: uhhhh ok
Husband: Are you guys closing? (He then started speaking arabic to her).
She looked at her watch, sighed heavily, and said: No, it is fine for you to stay I guess.
We told her we would just leave since it seemed they were closing and she said 'ok'. When we were exiting the parking lot, I saw that they closed THIRTY MINUTES AFTER WE LEFT!!!!
The woman acted all put out and like she was doing us a favor by leaving the store open, when they actually weren't closing for another 30 minutes. So rude!
I am never coming back here and telling my family members about this experience. I was ready to spend a few hundred dollars here, but now I'm taking my money elsewhere. -
Review from Safa S.
The selection and prices are higher here than at Al-Farah. However, Al-Farah I think has more selection for non-hijab wearers. I would come here if I was going to a wedding or some special occasion. They even sell Indian clothes here. Basically, Al-Farah and this store are practically next to each other.... if you are going to spend money, I would check out both, since you don't have to go far.

Hmm...I haven't tried Al-Farah. But then again Anwar probably has better hours because every time I've come by, Farah has been closed and Al-Anwar was open. So Al-Anwar it is for me! I drive from Pasadena, and stop by here to get my hair done at Cleopatra's (next door), and will stop by Al-Anwar while I'm there. Great stuff. Nice skirts, and great scarves. Way cheaper than macy's usually, and much bigger selection.
The store owner is SO NICE! Once I told him a scarf I liked was dirty and wanted to know if he had another one. He had sold out of others, and told me to just take it home for free since I liked it. sweet!
They also have nice carpet mat things. Regardless, he has a good selection.
I highly recommend dropping by this place. Oh, I do a one-stop-shop usually and also get some great meats from the place right next to him (has awesome pre-marinated things and ready to cook middle eastern food....I love it!). -
