Awesome Awesome Awesome! I have used them on numerous occasions, some of them good some of them not so good (not the food but the occasions). The food is always amazing!
This place is so easy to miss because its in a very ghetto type of neighborhood.
Just like lori's review says (because she basically gave you the run down on the place) they are awesome.
i also love their maki sushi.
just fyi, if you need anything for christmas or new years make sure you order early..........plan plan plan. usually by the second week in december they are already sold out. they recommend that you place your order by thanksgiving or at the latest the first week in december for new years. -

there are 3 things you notice right away about Akyth....
1 - their entrance is almost impossible to find unless you've been there before
2 - asking your non-asian friends to pronounce the name is hilarious
3 - their catering is good!
had a couple functions for work (2 separate times) and got won tons from Akyth. not only are they affordable, they are ON-POINT with your order, and their food is good. the won-tons are A-plus
however, minus a star for having a sign the size of cellphone.... there is NO WAY to see this sign from the road..... -

Great catering place to get bentos for a meeting/party/event for about $5/person! Mochiko chicken is my favorite!
This has got to be the best kept catering secret on this island. I've never seen their name on anything, but apparently they've been around for a long time.
Akyth is located in the Liliha/Kalihi area, in a warehouse. There is no store front, and when I went into the place, I basically walked into the kitchen where all this yummy goodness comes from. You must call in your orders first (I called my 3 bento order in a few hours before I got there) and they will accept orders as small as just one bento (can be ordered same day), to large orders which need to be called in at least a day or two in advance.
They have assorted sushi, musubi (spam or hotdog musubi $1.55), and catered foods by the pound, including: somen salad, potato salad, chicken hekka, MOCHIKO CHICKEN ($8.13/lb), chow mein, BBQ meat, meat jun ($12.72/lb), tonkatsu, chicken katsu ($8.54/lb), mahimahi, stufffed aburage ($1.13 ea).
Here's where I am going to be using them, as I have a birthday party to throw next week:
1. Keiki bento $2.50
(musubi w/nori, 2 pc mochiko chicken, spam, kamaboko, andagi)
2. Chicken Bento w/HD $4.11
(Rice, mochiko chicken, hotdog, kamaboko, takuan, andagi)
3. Mini Combo bento $4.90
(Rice, mochiko chicken, BBQ meat, kamaboko, takuan, pickled veg)
The keiki bento is almost the same price as throwing a pizza party!! I also noticed on their door that there are schools that have standing orders; one school has 20 somen salads delivered every Friday, one school placed an order for 40 bentos....so you might have already tried their food and just not know it.Listed in: BOK BOK!
