Very small local airport, but very organized and security line is rather short and friendly.

I never had to use parking, but car rental counters are located right in front of the baggage claim, and it's my recommendation that you get your key before even lining up for your bag - bags take long time to get to you here, maybe because air traffic controller also handle baggage in this small airport? Haha.

Info booth is helpful if you are in town for touristy thing.

    Some kiosk and food there.

Thanks to many big biz in the area, the airport is in great shape. I like this better than Cleaveland...as long as airfair is low(er) and planes are bigger.

4 stars seems silly for such a small airport - but despite its undecorated hallways and tiny size, this airport is affordable and quick! Everyone is so friendly and as soon as you walk in you zip through the quick security line and the next thing you know you are sipping on a coffee and waiting to board your flight. It is that easy!

The parking is so close to the airport too - you get off the plane and you are in your car lickety split.

I've been stuck waiting for a delayed flight a few times, but they have a Great Lakes brewery and a waiting room with couches and a TV, and that was enough to keep me happy.

I fly out of Akron-Canton whenever I can!

Great regional airport! I love flying out of CAK, and only wish it was closer to Columbus. I have never waited in line at security, and all of my flights have been on time with loading. The only times we haven't left on time were due to the airports we were flying into were running behind.

Rental car is quick and conveniently by baggage claim. Also, they get those bags out of the plane FAST!

Excellent service, friendly workers, and on time flights. Also, I'm probably sure you have heard, but flights out of here are CHEAP! I go to NYC fairly frequently, and this is the best airport to fly into LaGuardia.

CAK is convenient, quick access, and no lines.

No covered parking, very few store/food options inside, and limited flight options.  I think I'll stick with CLE...

A truly excellent airport.  Clean, up to date, great parking.  As a business traveler, it's so refreshing to deal with so little head aches from the "major" airports.  The TSA line is very fast except for early Monday morning flights.  Not a fan of Southwest though, and I am curious how they will merge with AirTran which has been excellent.  The only negatives are a somewhat limited number of airlines, and the baggage does take quite a while to arrive.

Cheaper, faster, and less congested than CLE.  Roaming shuttles in the parking lots pick you up for free, and take you to the terminal.  Also give you a little card that has your parking space on it.  Then give the shuttle driver the card when you get back, and they will take you close to your car.  Parking is also cheaper too.  So far the security lines chug along at a medium pace.   After the check point, you can rest at the Great Lakes Brewing pub on the second level.

Down side is less direct flights due to its size.  I preffer this over CLE for less hassle though.  If you need to connect, try this airport out.

CAK is a great airport to fly in and out of when you can avoid CLE.  I live right by this airport, so I much rather prefer to use it then to drive all the way up to Cleveland.

The biggest problem I have with CAK is just flight availability.  Being a smaller airport means less destinations/more connecting flights.

I have been a loyal Continental customer for years, which means flying CLE.  However, with the merger with United, there's potential to fly everyone by connecting through Chicago.

I do like to use CAK when flying down to Atlanta as Airtran (and Delta) have direct flights for very cheap prices.

Do look at this airport if you're looking for an east coast trip, but CLE is better for direct west coast trips.

Best airport ever. i'll pay a bit more to fly from CAK instead of CLE.

Parking is cheap, and (unlike CLE) is in a decent area of town, so I don't have to spend my trip worrying about whether my car is going to be there when I return home. The TSA line sometimes takes a while to get through, but it's still a reasonable length of time. I can't stand people with strollers, but that's more of a general thing. Maybe I just hate kids? But I digress...

Food choices aren't that great, and I can't walk past the Cinnabon stand without chuckling to myself and thinking of the Louis CK bit about Cinnabon.

This airport really is pretty great. It's not too big, the rental car return area is easy and the security line was simple.

With Atlanta being my home base and flying to many different airports I've become a little uppity about the places I fly in to or out of. ATL just has things down to a science that many others have not yet gotten (see: Philly). This airport made me a fan of the smaller, regional airports again.

I flew into Canton from Milwaukee for New Year's and when I got off the plan and into the airport I was shocked at how small it was.  I myself consider MKE to be a small airport so this was quite a surprise.  It was very similar to Austin-Straubel airport in Green Bay.  I walked out of my gate, down one flight of stairs, turned to the right, walked about 150 feet and I was already outside. Haha!

Despite its small size CAK is a nice little aurport, there is a sports bar near the entrance of the airport and another bar past security.  This bar was rather small and very crowded.  Every table and bar stool was taken so I just ordered a Heineken and stood near the par watching ESPN on mute.  The service was great, although the prices, as to be expected in an airport, were lhigh.  Nearly $5 for a Heineken, ouch.

There are several small eateries, such as a Cinnabon and an Arby's.  This wouldn't be a great place to have a five hour layover, but I arrived early as I didn't know how long security would take and I had an hour to kill, had a roast beef and three beers and then it was liftoff.

This place is everything that CLE isn't:
    Clean
    Affordable
    Kind

Here they get it.  They offer wonderful products and services for both leisure and business travelers.  While they tend to only offer connecting service to most destinations, they actively market and aggressively try to attract new service.

The airport used to make TSA an absolute breeze, but now with the addition of body scanners, there's a longer wait, worse attitudes from inspection officers and MORE SHOUTING the directions that are ignored by travelers anyways.  Give yourself 15mins for security, 30 if you're on a 6am departure.  Since opening the new checkpoint in January 2012, they have run at 100% body scanners, with no choice of walk through metal detector.  It's a true hassle as their officers then give you an attitude for choosing not to be screened by the body scanner technology.

Parking gets no better than CAK with affordable lots directly across the street from the terminal.  No skywalk with non-working people movers, no Earth killing buses.  Plus, they have a frequent parking billing system where you zap your RFID key fob and go.

I just wish United Express had more flight frequency here for connections to Star Alliance carriers.  Delta dominates most of the legacy carriers out of here, and AirTran is tops for the low cost carriers.

The terminal is always clean and usually at a comfortable temperature.  There's restrooms everywhere, including a few family restrooms.

Living 30mins to CAK and 40mins to CLE this is my first choice.

If you like standing in a line for an hour in your bare feet waiting to get patted down by some TSA moron, you probably won't like CAK, the Akron Canton airport. But if you like to drop off your rental car and stroll a few hundred feet to drop off your key and then wait in a two minute line and then be greeted by pleasant semi-country folk, you're here.
I like to avoid large crowds of angry people with their associated long lines and not have to pay a premium for this experience and CAK gives me all of this.

This airport is awesome.  Parking is affordable, they have a Great Lakes Brewery Bar, Arby's, Subway and free wifi.  The new gates for Airtran are new and very nice. I have literally parked in the economy parking lot, checked in, went through security and been sitting in my seat on plane in under 15 minutes. You can also follow CAK on Twitter.

In terms of Regional Airports, it doesn't get much better.

This airport is small.  Most of the flights are either connector flights to larger airports or direct flights to airports in sunnier, warmer destinations.  Since this is a smaller airport, you can expect to transfer at least once or twice if you fly out of here.

The food selection is improving rapidly.  There's now a Great Lakes brew-pub inside the airport.

Oh, by the way, the airport also has free wi-fi.

I've never flown out of Hopkins, so I can't make a comparison.  However, this is one of the quickest, most customer-friendly airports in the Midwest.

I love this airport.  It's cheap and it is never busy.  Throw in Caribou coffee, free wifi, ample outlets to charge your gear, and a Great Lakes in-house and I can't see a reason ever to fly into that pit-of-hell Cleveland Hopkins again.  Picked up a flight from CAK to LGA for $70; I can't even drive the thirsty turbo demon for that price.  You should consider CAK if you're going anywhere near northern Ohio.

This airport is extremely easy to navigate (whether inside or out) and the parking prices are inexpensive - especially if you park in the economy lot (there's even a free bus to pick you up and drive you to the terminal).

    Other Perks:
    Free Wifi
    Arby's
    Fast/short lines at check-in
    Arby's
    Clean/renovated spaces
    Arby's

My one criticism would be the security checkpoint. This airport is ONE terminal with ONE point of entry into the gates. The entryway is teeny tiny especially when idiot Midwesterners are swinging around their nasty luggage and have no clue how to move quickly and efficiently through an airport. Put the Mountain Dew down and take off your boots. Making your way through security at CAK is like giving birth to a baby in breech position.

    Buuuut...Arbyyyyyyyyy's!

Dirty and lacking in amenities.  Flgihts in and out of here are scarce, as are the staff to check you in/check you through security (often one in the same person).  The only NY airport they fly to is LGA (another reason to go elsewhere).

Security lines are a breeze here, and that's about where the convience ends.  A lame place to be otherwise.

Really really easy and convenient, especially when you compare it to Cleveland-Hopkins. Let's be honest, it is definitely out of the way from Cleveland, but so worth it. Checking in and security was a breeze. If you are heading to or from Cleveland, and can find a ride to Akron-Canton, definitely use this airport.

Quick pro: Flights into this airport can be cheaper than into Hopkins. Look around

Quick con: The seats in the waiting area were pretty uncomfortable. Not cool.

The commercials are right! I can't believe I have been flying out of CLE all this time when this is nearby.

It seriously took all of 10 minutes to make it from the parking lot to my gate! If I was flying out of CLE, after 10 minutes, I would still be wandering somewhere in the endless parking structure.

The shuttlebus for the economy lot picked me up at my car and when I returned, dropped me off right there, a nice feature if your flight gets in late at night.

I didn't really miss the "amenities" of last minute souvenirs, greasy chinese, or having to get out of the way as 53432 people bump past you as they run to make that connection. Not at all.

I'd almost pay more to fly from here as the convenience factor is awesome (although it's about 30 minutes further from my house than CLE) but I actually save a few hundred dollars by choosing this airport. Yay for CAK!

I have flown just about everywhere in the country (and out of) it seems and it is always refreshing when I return home to Akron Canton.

What's so great about Akron Canton?  First, the parking which is close and always has spots available.  Second is the fact that security is almost always a breeze and finally who doesn't love an airport that is actively using Twitter?

I wish they had a few more choices for food but if sacrificing food for the small town airport that goes big places I'll deal with it.

Before I flew I never understood why my family drove up from Columbus to fly from here, now I get it.

    I LOVE this airport.

Even now that they have "expanded," it is still a small, well organized, clean airport. There is less congestion and confusion than at larger airports, and the Canton Akron airport is about 40 minutes from Cleveland.  I think it is well worth it to fly into the smaller airport .

The employees at the airport strike a nice balance between being laid back and friendly with providing a sense of security and oversight.

I fly into the Canton Akron airport as much as possible and would recommend it to everyone!!

Very nice airport. clean, easy parking, nice TSA, otherwise very good.
Frankly most airports are simple human cargo distribution centers... for those that travel, we know that certain airports rise above the rest. Whereas Portland beats Denver beats Minneapolis and MSP beats Chicago...the Akron-Canton Airport is very good. Its a regional airport. 6 or 7 gates so don't expect a lot of amenities, but the little things like a free business room, Barnes and Noble type lounge seating make waiting for your plane a lot nicer.

As someone who flies a lot I really do appreciate an airport that is less than 2 miles away and takes 10 minutes to get through. The flight prices here are generally more expensive but the alternative is Cleveland Hopkins which is 45 minutes each way and then a hefty parking price.

CAK is in the middle of an expansion right now and one area is all glass, new shiny floors and nice gate areas. They also offer free wi-fi which is a huge bonus in any airport. Security lines are quick and efficient and people have been pretty friendly. My only advice would be to call if you have a very early flight because they sometimes don't open check in counters until 45 minutes before departure. Nobody wants to stand in line to check in at 5AM, we all want to sleep in a little longer.

Not crowded, easy to find your way around, reasonably priced parking, and way easier to get around than in Cleveland.  It used to be that if you wanted to go anywhere you had to make the hour-long drive to Cleveland through the traffic and questionable weather (once had to drive there through an ice storm for a 7 AM flight).  Not much to choose from in the way of dining options, but enough for me.

This place really is a good travel alternative to Cleveland-Hopkins Airport, especially in light of the recent national press on the declining quality at CLE. I like the simplicity of this airport, but as other reviewers have noted, simplicity comes with only the basic amenities. However, they do have a few fast food places and a Great Lakes Brewery outpost, so it isn't that bad. If I lived a little closer to Akron, I'd probably use it more often.

For a smaller/regional airport, this one is pretty nice. The airport seemed pretty clean and bright upon arrival and departure. When I was getting my bearings, the TSA guy pointed me to the baggage claim. Great service in my opinion. Since I've traveled through a couple of regional airports, this one fits the bill. It has a few food places, but probably needs a few more. I saw an Arby's, Subway, and two Great Lakes Brewery places. I had a small coffee stand near my gate, but the espresso machine was out. Dare I say, they really do need a Starbucks there. Overall, it's a good regional airport and I had great service from check in counter, TSA guys, and at the gate. Service is good. It's just needs a few more restaurants.

It appears that many people agree with me - this is a great airport.  I am one who gets stressed and overwhelmed easily in large crowds of people, topped with having to go through security and having to get on the right plane at the right time.  But this place is so quiet, small and uncrowded that its totally stress-free.  I always try to fly out from here rather than Cleveland when possible.  Nearby parking is easier and cheaper, too.
