I am lucky enough that VInnie teaches a class in the building in which I work. He is phenomenal. He explains to you, in a way you can easily understand, how to get into a pose, where you should be feeling it and how to make the most of it.
I have been to his Akal studio. When you walk into the CBOT, you can't help but feel the buzz of energy in the place. Take the elevator up to Akal, walk in the door and you have found your sanctuary. Peace, my friend, is yours.
Enjoy. Namaste. -

Top of the line yoga in the loop. Vinnie Hunihan owns this little place in the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) building downtown. Vinnie has been studying yoga for decades. His teachers are very well trained and he treats them well.
Akal offers classes for everyone, even the old disheveled traders who hobble around. Akal is a great place to get away from the downtown madness. -

I'm a runner not a yoga person but I decided to check this place out on my lunch since I work in the building and get a discount. Vinnie is awesome!!! He takes time to make sure you're in the correct pose, adjusts you if you need adjusting, and has a sense of humor while doing it. I'm not good with weird cheesy yoga stuff and this wasn't even remotely cheesy. I will definitely be back.

My favorite yoga studio in Chicago. The owner, Vinnie, is an excellent teacher who is able to adapt the class to students of all levels. Classes are small enough that everyone gets some individual instruction. He also has a great sense of humor, which makes the class fun. There are 1 hour classes every day at noon: perfect for people who work in or near the loop. If you like yoga, or are interested in giving it a try, you couldn't pick a better place than Akal.
