Amie is the best!
I am always blown away when I walk in by how much time and thought she has given my hair since the last time I was there! I feel like she talks about my cut and color plan with her husband the night before over dinner. She is passionate about what she does and it shows! The magic about Amie's styles are how well they grow in. I always love my hair the day I leave, but I feel like it looks better and better as the weeks go by. I really apprecaite that she takes into consideration how I actually do my hair every day and anticipates how it will look a few weeks out.
The salon itself is in a great loction with lots of parking. The space is sunny and inviting. Love it! -

I was really nervous about going into this place as salons brimming with gorgeously perfected girls and immaculate hair always makes me realize how gorgeous and imaculate mine is not. Aside from that, the whole minimalistic, ritzy-esque lobby of salons only make me feel dirty and unkempt. Can you say 'complex'?
Anyway, I would love to squelch any worries you may have about my initial visit to Akada....so I will. :) The salon was a fun atmosphere full of laughter, kindness and was swarming with activity. I was greeted by a doll at the front desk and then got to meet the rest of the crew including Mindy who- you will immediately notice- is completely blessed with the most gorgeous mane of naturally curly red hair. I knew then that I could trust her with my own not-so-breathtaking mane of over-processed, color-treated, curly mop. She was wonderful and the conversation was enjoyable. The whole experience was great and I would encourage anyone to book in with them. I can only speak of my experience with Mindy but everyone else seemed lovely. The bill wasn't so lovely BUT the shake-my- hair-in-slow-motion moment as I was leaving the salon was. -

Went there once... the hair cut was fine.. but I overhead the receptionist talking bad about a client who just left. Very unprofessional! Just know they will smile to your face.. and bad mouth when you leave! Parking is also a pain...

Customer service here is the best in Columbus. All of the sytlists are friendly and up beat. Each client was having a different style/cut and everyone looked great walking out the door.
I hate to admit it but I can't do hair. I've never used a curling iron in my life. When I expressed my need for a new style with minimum styling requirements at home Angel gave me exactly what I was looking for. She also took the time to teach me how to blow dry with a round brush, not an easy task.
If I could I would love to make this salon my 6 week maintenance spot. But at $165 after tip and products I can't justify it. -

I was recommended by a curly-haired friend to go to Mindy at Akada a few years ago, and have since recommended my curly-haired friends to her. She is really fantastic with curls; she has a beautiful head of curls herself!
I have gone in with photos of hair styles and she always is able to give me exactly what I want AND make it look good. I appreciate that if I have a hair style idea that may not be particularly flattering, Mindy will have suggestions for ways to make it work for my face shape and hair. She is also very good at answering questions about hair care and styling.
I have never liked to spend a ton of money of hair cuts (it costs me about $60 for a haircut, before tip) but this is money well spent. Look at my profile picture, how cute is that haircut? -

I went here (sometime in December) after reading all the reviews from fellow Yelpers. I had a difficult time with parking, but what matters is I got there. I entered the salon through the back entry and was greeted right away by a friendly receptionist. She checked me in and I filled out some paperwork since it was my first time. The salon is nicely decorated, mostly contemporary style with open setting. Didn't matter where you were in the salon, I felt pretty comfortable due to the open layout of the salon.
Shortly afterwards, my stylist Amie came by to introduce herself and we did the meet and greet. She took me to her station and asked me about what I had in mind regarding my hair. She really listened to what I was saying and made suggestions. After through deliberation, we decided to color my hair back to my natural hair color (somewhere in the super dark brown zone) and gave me a nice wispy bangs that I can either keep it down or do the side sweep thing. Throughout my whole session, she made sure that I was comfortable, thoroughly explained what she was doing, what she was going to do, and really made me feel I had her full attention.
After the coloring, cutting, and styling, I was very satisfied with what she had done for me. Oh and even while she was styling my hair (blow-drying, etc) she gave me a easy to follow lesson as how to easily add volume and styling.
From the moment I entered the salon to the moment I walked out, I felt completely pampered and extremely well taken care of. Amie made me feel not only an important client, but she made me feel like visiting a good friend.
Amie not only has the skills to do miracles with your hair, but she really understand the individuality of each client (well, me in this case) and know how to tailor that specific style for you. I know I will be definitely returning to see Amie for my next appointment!!!
I would highly recommend Akada Hair Salon for anybody. If you don't know what you really want, Amie and other stylist will be sure to help you achieve the style that is just you! -

Kelli Sanders is AMAZING!! I have thin curly hair, but she was able to cut and style it where it made it look thicker. She colored my hair with an overall gloss and then added highlights. When the color fades out it is very subtle. I highly recommend her, she takes her time and wants you to be happy. Before products and tip I payed $125. I think it's very reasonable for something you show/ wear everyday! If you buy products 10% goes to their education fund, so they can attend classes.

I have been going to Akada for about two years, and over time felt like they do great cut and color, my stylist just wasn't listening to what I wanted. Every time I would walk out of there, I'd end up spending $150 (which I don't mind to spend on hair) for something that was just a slight variation of what I walked in there with. Perhaps I needed to try a different stylist because my friend goes there and she swears by the place. Of course now I could not go to the same salon and see a different stylist because that would be awkward, so I've moved onto another salon and am happy. Parking there is the absolute worst. I will say that they introduced me to Moroccan oil and I am hopelessly addicted to it.

Saw Amie today and had a great experience. I'm pretty nervous when it comes to my hair due to a negative color experience in the past and she put me right at ease. Offered suggestions and seemed to really "get" what I wanted. Both cut and color were awesome. Will definitely be seeing Amie again!

John did a great job with my short, fine, straight hair. It looks like the cut will age well too. He listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions, and then I got just what we'd agreed on. There was some product-pushing, but where is that not the case?
The space is clean & nice. Not at all pretentious. I had no trouble parking.
All around great. Worth driving across town for.
