OMG... don't judge this book by its cover with that black light poster on the wall (really?)
A co-worker and I were from out of town and wanted some seafood... what better to have then sushi? So, I yelp and find Aka and think...this sounds great, lets go.
The sushi here was so damn good I can still taste it. I highly recommend the tuna on tuna roll with the seared tuna on top... that smokey flavor was amazing! I got some crunchy roll and eel... damn it was all so good.
Service was great, seaweed salad was good... sushi was amazing. You HAVE to go and eat here!Listed in: Outta Town Fav's

Arrived at Aka on a Thursday night (9ish) with the bf and were sat immediately. I'm not a huge fan of the decor or plastic table cloths, but wasn't deterred. Neither of us were ravenous, so we decided early to get two rolls to share. First off- Good selection. A lot of the 'typical' rolls you'll see at most sushi bars and then many new twists on classics. Second- Good service. Granted, the place was quiet and rather empty due to our later than avg dinner time. But when we ordered the Dragon roll, the waiter noted that there was an off menu variation of the Dragon roll, called the Ecstasy roll, that he highly recommended. We went with it and also chose the Volcano roll. Third- Delicious sushi! The Ecstasy roll was to die for- the name fits!!! The Volcano was good too, but not a showstopper.
I will definitely be back to Aka and am going to plan ahead to be really hungry next time! -

first off, i used to hate sushi....can't stand mushy food
Aka Sushi has ruined me for any other sushi place in north america - this is not traditional sushi i've been told. the chef deep fried tempura rolls and sauced our rolls up - they were fantastic. no joke, we had a flaming dragon roll, it literally arrived at our table on fire.....that one is not on the menu.
apparently some of the iron chef's actually eat here when they are in town - can't confirm that but it wouldn't surprise me. -

I LOVE Aka Sushi! The one on Water Street, that is. NOT the Everhart location. The staff are friendly, the sushi is to die for. It's really a bar with a nice little restaurant attached when you get right down to it. I have a blast every time I go, and the Chefs all seem to be having fun when it gets late into the night. If you love great sushi and great sake, you have to stop by Aka Sushi!
