Dined at Ajuba last night, and was very pleased with the whole experience. We started with the non meat samosa which was fried but light and tasty. I had a taj mahal beer (strong and sweet) and my partner domestic beer For entree I had lamb Rogan josh at 7 out 10 heat scale and it was great. Complex hot- but not too hot- curry ang garlic flavors. My date had a spinach chicken (saag???) and that was excellent as well. She was having Indian for the first time ( how does THAT happen??) so she got it mild but it was still very good. A truly nice, savory dish, but we wanted a little more meat in it. The garlic Naan was as good as I've had, and I even got a second order. There was enough food to bring home, and the price was very reasonable.
We met a few of the family members who are the proprietors, and they were friendly and the service great. Give Ajuba a try. I'll be back. -

If you live in Ashland, VA... you know that there's not really many (or any) options for Indian food when you have that craving. So to compare it to my favorite Indian restaurants in Richmond might be unfair.
I always get it to go, and the portion size is large, so the price isn't particularly bad. However, I feel like the food is just 'meh'. The masala has a good flavor, and the rice is always good, but the chicken and the naan leaves much to be desired. The texture of their chicken is a bit weird, almost as if it is poor quality, but it's edible... the garlic naan is quite bland, but it's still naan. I keep going back here because there simply isn't anything better within a 15 minute drive.
Their service is always quick and friendly. It satisfies my craving and I suppose that's perfectly acceptable. If you live close... give it a try. -

Picked up food on Friday night and was pleased. The Samosas and Chicken Korma were particularly tasty.

Yes! Finally a quality Indian restaurant close to home. I recently stopped in and picked up a buffet carry out. I would have dined in, but my lunch break was short. I was stunned that the place was empty! I hope that more people will discover this gem. I sure would hate for this place to dissapear due to lack of business.
The food was top notch. The restaurant is very clean. I will definately be frequenting this place and doing my part to spread the "word of mouth"! -

Went for the lunch buffet with some co-workers, one of which had never tried Indian before and prides himself on being a picky eater. We were all happy with our meal and the picky eater even agreed he'd like to go back.
I didn't get a look at the menu, but the selection on the buffet was very good. The naan was excellent and very fresh. There were three chicken dishes and four or five vegetarian dishes. The chicken tika masala was great and the pakora (little vegetable fritters about the size of a hush puppy) was amazing.
At just under $10 after tax it's not the cheapest lunch in Ashland, but it's a welcome addition to the selection of restaurants in town. It's safe to say I'll be going back regularly.
I only went with 4 stars because it was my first visit. I'll probably come back and bump it up to 5 stars after I go a couple more times. -

Friends took us here for lunch and it was better than they said. Don't let the spartan decor fool you, the food was wonderful. They have a buffet on Wednesday evenings and we plan to go back for that!

Ashland is branching out! We now have a new restaurant and it's Indian cuisine. I believe it's the only one in the area. My husband and I went in there on a Thursday evening of the week they opened. They had just been open a day or so. We ordered the chicken vindaloo to split and some appetizers and naan. We thought we wanted it hot but Indian hot is hotter than American hot, believe me, and I can usually take the heat. We ate a good bit of it but when it's too hot, you just cannot enjoy the flavor. The owner was very kind and took it back in the kitchen and somehow they took the heat down a notch or two. All at no charge for a full entree of food. He also brought a side order of the cooling yogurt sauce, again at no additional charge. Such a personable man as well. He took the time to explain various dishes when we asked.
We went back today (Sunday) for the lunch buffet. It was absolutely delicious! They had a good variety of Indian entrees and side dishes--lots of vegetarian options as well as chicken dishes. Give this place try!
Here are the hours:
Lunch Buffet, Tues to Sun: 11:30 to 2:30
Dinner, Tues to Sunday: 5:00 to 9:00, Fri and Sat: 5:00 to 9:30
Per the menu, catering is available.

I've eaten lunch and dinner at Ajuba several times and have never been disappointed. Good food, friendly service, clean premises. One time I spoke to two Indian couples eating there and they told me that it was their opinion that it was the best Indian food in Richmond. One man then told me that you had to go to New Jersey to find Indian food this good, which I took to be a compliment.

What pleasant surprise this turned out to be. Samosas were excellent. Fish with spinach nicely done. Server asked how much heat we wanted on a scale of 1-10 then they nailed it. Prices are reasonable.

By far the best Indian restaurant in within 30 minutes of Richmond, and believe me, I've been to every single one at least a few times. On top of that, the owners are very warm and friendly. I went on a Sunday for the lunch buffet (which was excellent), and ordered take out for dinner. We got the tadka dal and the lamb vindaloo, and both were excellent. I definitely look forward to going back.
