AJ's does southern cooking right!
We ate here for the chamber of commerce luncheon this afternoon. I love it when a restaurant really puts their best foot forward at the chamber luncheon, rather than take the easy road.
To start off, a sampler basket of fried broccoli and cauliflower, 2 types of chicken wings, and nachos was set on the table. Yum! I've never fried broccoli or cauliflower, but it was really good! The spicy flavored chicken wings were my favorite, though the others were really tasty too. I'm not a big nachos fan, but my husband gobbled it up!
Then our entree came out: 2 pieces of moist-on-the-inside fried chicken (breast & wing; or thigh & leg), a huge heaping pile of creamy mashed potatoes, a hefty portion of true southern-style green beans, and a warm roll. It was so much food, I had to get a to-go box for at least half of what I was served. It was all so delicious!
Then dessert: I'm not sure what it was... but, boy, was it good! At first I thought it was a bread pudding, but there was pineapple chunks and cherries in it. Maybe it was a dump cake... Whatever it was it cured my sweet craving. I ate some of it, but, again, it was such a huge serving that i put it in my to-go box for later. I can't wait to eat it again!
Bottom Line: I will definitely eat at AJ's again! Definitely worth a try if you're in Apalachicola.
