Honestly, if the car comes, you deserve 4 stars. I've experienced nightmare stories when the car you reserve doesn't show up. Airport Express gets 5 stars because not only did they come, they came on time (within 10 minutes give or take) and were super professional.

I had originally booked with another company but after reading their yelp reviews (THANK GOD I DID) of 2.5 stars average, I decided to change last minute the night before Thanksgiving. It was like 9pm. My flight was at 705am. The airport express representative cheerfully helped me book a shuttle for 4:45am. They call you before the shuttle arrives. The driver is nice. He asks you what airline you're on.

It only took 45 minutes to get to the airport after picking up 9 people total. Great experience. I would definitely use again!

A terrible and irresponsible company. The drivers are rude and they drive in an unsafe manner.

I stopped on 19th Ave in front of the tracks near Stonestown. The van driver behind me was unhappy that I was not illegally moving forward and stopping on the rail tracks. He honked and changed lanes, but before moving forward he made sure to stop next to me and yell "F*** you" with his window down.

I noted the van number and called the company's phone number to complain. The manager said that the company did not have a van with that number. I told him that I would not ever use his company's service in the future. He glibly replied, "we don't pick up in the Sunset anyway." I must have imagined the van.

    Warning-Do NOT use this company

    Airport Express San Francisco

We booked a return shuttle when we were travelling in May this year. The flight to LA was delayed 90 minutes so I rang the company (from LA) and spoke to a woman who said that the drivers didn't work after 10pm so she would have to cancel the shuttle. She told me to ring the next day or so to organise a refund and gave me contact details of who to speak to.

Well, 3 emails and 2 phone calls later I am still being ignored. We paid $150 for the return shuttle and while they did turn up to take us back to the airport, I have not neeb able to claim my $75 back.

Buyer beware-stay away from this company as they appear to have no ethics and will not refund my money, despite their phone representative stating it was not a problem.

The worst service. As a concierge of a hotel, I will not recomend to call this company for guests needs to the aiport. recently we book one shuttle for a guest and they never show up, claiming that they were waiting for the guest for 20 mins in front of the hotel and I personally was looking for them and they never show up. then I called the company and their poor customer service they have. none could help me the guest to get to her destination, making my guest miss her flight. if there is a way to give 0 stars to this company I would! and I told my staff NEVER USE THEM AGAIN and I will make sure my other hotel collegues do the same.

Horrible service. We waited 30 minutes, after numerous calls asking them to send a car and hearing "5 minutes" from the rude woman on the other end of the phone. No apology, nothing, just all around bad service. Save yourself a headache and split a cab- the slight savings in cost was in no way worth it.

HORRIBLE service. Not only did the car not come for our International flight, the ladies who answered the phones were extremely rude and unprofessional. I have been using their service since 2008. Today was the last time I will ever use airport express.  Do not recommend AT ALL!  If there was an option for ZERO stars, I would have chosen that.

Here's a tip if you don't use shuttle/car service often.  Always call beforehand to make sure they didn't forget you!

My husband is fancy, he takes car service to SFO.  I prefer to save money.  When I travel alone, I don't mind stopping for other passengers.  It makes for a fun trip.  In my experience, no matter how many pick ups, the trip has never been over 20 minutes more than usual.  And I am one who likes to arrive at the airport with at 90 minutes to spare, but usually 2 hours.

As long as you plan your time, call them the night before, double call in the morning of the pick up, you will enjoy saving money with shuttle services.

Definitely worth the cost. It's your basic shuttle service, which means for me, get me to the airport on time for my flight and your golden in my book.  This company is reliable and courteous.  Showed up on time for my pick up and I was at the airport in 20-30min (they did pick up another 4 or 5 people).  I don't mind sharing if its going to save me $20.00 it would take for a taxi.  The only downside was the pick up from the airport, it took me 1 hour to get back to my apartment!  TOO LONG!  I guess it is just what happens sometimes, but I will be cabbing it back INTO the city when I return.

The drivers were both really nice and did their job well.  I would definitely recommend this service to a friend.

The driver arrived on time and was pretty friendly.  Every seat in the shuttle was filled but it was still very spacious and well-cooled.  When he dropped off the AirTran people, he would hand each of us our luggage and we would respond with a tip, except for me.  I was the only one who didn't tip and he was really cool about it.  Didn't look at me weird or get upset or anything.  Just greeted me good bye like every one else.  It's about $10 more than BART but they pick you up at your doorstep and drop you right in front of the door of your airline.

Overall, it was a quick and efficient experience and MUCH easier than carrying three large bags of luggage three blocks to the BART station then holding and watching over them for the 40 minute BART ride and then dragging them across the SFO BART station and across the airport.

Never again!  I called Airport Express because the SuperShuttle was not available.

I had a 7:00am flight and arranged & paid for a 4:30am pickup today (Christmas Day).  I looked at the window at 4:28am and the van was there, so I headed outside to board.  The van just took off without me.  i immediately called the Airport Express dispatcher and got through to him at 4:34am; he confirmed that the driver left at 4:32 and was not willing to pull around to pick me up.  I stopped complaining at 4:36 and caught a cab.

Again, I would strongly recommend that you never ever even try this company.

    ANGRY DISGRUNTLED DRIVERS
Don't use these people. We had our hotel set up a shuttle for the 2 adults, 1 child and a lap child to go to Oakland airport. Before we even got on the shuttle the guy was pissy. He was upset that WE? didn't "tell" them that there were 4 people.

Then, he angrily makes unsafe stops to pick up other passengers--so we have a witness. The 3rd set of passengers took off, earlier on Super Shuttle.Which pisses him off even more. (that should have been a clue)

Then, he starts driving. Being from out of town, you just assume they're taking you to the place you asked for. NOOO. He drove us to San Francisco Airport. He asks us which airline? Southwest... he says there's no Southwest at that airplane. So, if you tell them that that's not where you want to go, they'll take you ANYWAY.

Then, we pay anyway and get off and take a cab. By now, we're just over an hour away from our flight taking off. Hell no, were we going to let road rage man drive us and our children to Oakland now.

This man was pissed off at the world and took it out on us. He was cussing out loud in front of my kids (fuck and damn), driving erratically, took us to where we're not supposed to be AND we had to pay.

end of the story... we made our flight and we're still dealing with these bozos

    YOU GOTTA LOVE IT.

They don't even deserve 1 star!!!!!!!

When I originally made my reservation for an SFO early morning flight, the dispatcher said the shuttle would arrive at 5am.  The day of my flight, I got a call at 4:20am saying that the shuttle would be there in fifteen minutes.  I complained, but I didn't put up too much of a fuss because I was up and ready. The dispatcher was apologetic, but it didn't change the fact that this could have really screwed me up had I not woken up as early as I did.  This is not the sort of thing you want to deal with that early in the morning.

Otherwise, the experience was good. The driver was friendly, and we arrived at the airport ahead of schedule (even accounting for the early pickup).

I've used this service twice and was very satisfied both times. The first time, I was lucky and accidentally ran into somebody else being picked up to go to the airport. They had room for me and I was ready to go at that exact moment, so it worked out perfectly. We picked up another person before heading over the airport, and my whole voyage took about 35 to 40 minutes.

The next time I used this service was when I was coming back from the airport to my dorm building. I was the only person, which is apparently very common for the way back. This meant that it was just as fast a taxi, not counting the ten minutes it took for them to show up. More spacious too since I had the whole van to myself.

The price ($16) is reasonable considering that taking a taxi would be about twice that in my case. If you live right near a BART station and aren't taking many bags, then that's probably the way to go. However, since the BART line to the airport is a little more than $5 from downtown, if you have to take a taxi to the BART too, then you might as well just use Airport Express. And if you have bags, then it's probably worth not having to lug them around.

Saved a ton of money. it was a nice van with fast service considering that i called very last minute from a hotel concierge in soma. got to the airport in 30 minutes in time for my flight. i highly recommend this service.

FALSE ADVERTISING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Their website quotes you a price of $16 and will only book reservations from hotels but the sidebar says you can book 4 different ways so I called and spoke to a lady who took my reservation. She claimed the price for my reservation was $17. When I asked about the dollar difference she said that a residential pick-up costs an extra dollar. OK no big deal, right? But their website doesn't distinguish between pick-up locations and mentions no additional fees beyond the $16 so I ask her how I can get the cheaper price quoted on their website. She said that's only for hotels and because I live near some hotels they would make an exception for picking me up. I told her that her company's website says they pick-up passengers anywhere in San Francisco for $16 and that is the offer that I was calling about. She said my reservation hadn't been confirmed yet and she told me I could walk to a hotel near my home.

WTF? I said I still needed a 9am pick-up and I wouldn't just cancel my reservation because of a dollar discrepancy. Then she said she threw out my piece of paper (Really? Paper?) and she had to put me on hold... the on hold music was nice for about 5 minutes - I had it on speaker phone and my co-workers and I were laughing that it took so long and then all of a sudden the line went dead - SHE HUNG UP ON ME!

I wonder how frequently crappy shuttle services change their names. A bad business owner's way of wiping the slate clean? They seem to have dropped "Door to Door" from their name and currently operate as "Airport Express SF."

The morning pickup and subsequent drop-off at SFO was uneventful. But the attempt to get a ride back home... made me really glad we didn't prepay.

For rides home from the airport, "No reservations needed, just call when you have your baggage" was what the guy on the phone said. So that is what we did. After a short walk down to the shuttle parking lot we spotted a van and the driver leaning against the hood. "Sorry" he said, "this van is not available, but I'll call you another one. It'll be here in 10 minutes." So we waited. 20 minutes later another van comes racing into the parking lot. Happy to see it and looking forward to getting out of the cold, we grab our bags and prepare to board.

But when we open the doors were are greeted by a very upset group that is going ballistic over the fact that the driver circled back for us. Apparently they had an exclusive reservation for the van, and the driver didn't speak enough English to understand that he wasn't supposed to circle back. The leader of that group was on the phone with the owner trying to get things sorted out and the driver just kinda stood around dumbstruck. We decided to leave these drivers and passengers to their drama and headed upstairs to seek other transportation.

Airport Express, get your act together or go out of business and *stay* out of business.

These dudes picked me up from SFO and took me to my hotel over at Fisherman's Wharf. I had to wait 10-15 minutes for them to arrive. I wasn't in constant fear for my life like I was when I took a shuttle in Denver to DIA, so these guys get props for that. We were the last passengers to get dropped off, but the driver was friendly, and gave us a couple of food recommendations. I'd probably use these guys again.

I was arriving in San Francisco, and my flight was late. I knew the office closed before the flight was due, so I called to verify that I wouldn't be left hanging past midnight in a city I didn't know- even with a badly delayed flight. Despite all assurances, I arrive to NO shuttle. I wait and wait and panic - the shuttle shows, the driver just stares at me, demands my receipt, then refuses to let me in the van.  He takes off again, looking for more fares, I guess, and finally returns just as I am about to go into another shuttle.  He was horribly rude, and the office never called me back in response to my  messages. Horrible experience, hope to never use them again.

First of all, it felt like a small miracle that they were there waiting for me. Second, the price was great! 28.00 round trip! The most significant thing about the service though was the driver.

I didn't get his name (I hope to if he picks me up for my return to the airport), but he was an accomodating, sometimes funny, and talkative guy who pointed out things as he drove the four of us to our destination (he had three hotels to go to between the four of us). He has lived in San Francisco all of his life and is very proud of his city. He was able to tell us how things have developed over time. For example, he mentioned that a certain neighborhood's homes used to go for 600,000.00 and then went down to 400,000.00, but now, "as a sign of the recovering economy," are selling for 490,000.00.He also told us how the city cracked down when people began to build more modern homes in Victorian-styled neighborhoods and that an ordinance was passed that new homes had to reflect the styles of previous homes. He expressed a commitment toward service, even figured out a way to return a book to the first passenger who accidentally left it behind. Among other things, he told us that he used to work at the capitol and was there when Harvey Milk was assassinated and gave us tips about making our way around the area.

I would have given no star if I could.

A friend of mine and i were supposed to be picked up from our hotel to SFO and they did not show up at the time they said they would. So we called and was told that they did not have me on the list to be picked. My friend was on the list and two other guests from the same hotel.
I had a confirmation with a correct time. They oversold the number of seats on the van, apparently. There was nothing they can do since my name was on the list to be picked up two hours earlier, not the time that i had a confirmation for. The confirmation was e-mailed to me from them. i was told "trying to get on the van" SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!! THAT IS THE RESPONSE. So when the van showed up, there was not enough of room of course. The driver yelled at me for trying to get on the van. I told him that his company told me to try to get on it or he was going to be paying for my cab ride to SFO. He threw a fit, "I did not get paid from you" my company got paid." "you can't get on. YOU ARE NOT ON MY LIST! there is no room." He refused. So I threw my luggage in the back and got on. my friend had to sit on my lap all the way to the airport. There was a race in the city that weekend, so every hotel was sold out and i am sure they were very busy. I can even see a mistake can be made. However what is important is how the company representatives treat a customer and try to provide an alternative solution. Next time, I am taking a BART or Taxi. My money should be refunded but of course not. Can not believe they have been in business since 1979........ unbelievable! If you are going to take a chance, then go ahead and use this company for a ride.

UPDATE: A complaint was filed with Better Business Bureau and the company has NOT responded to BBB as of today. It has been more than 30 days and still have not heard.
