This is the best diner I know of in rockland county. The service is great and fast, just like a diner should be. The food is consistently good and it isn't too risky to venture away from the normal diner food.

I can't drink coffee anymore (yeah, it is sad), but my father loves the coffee here. I have never seen him with an empty cup either.

A large group of us attended for lunch and we all walked away very pleased with the quality and variety of the food. The menu itself is actually overwhelming; just too many choices, page after page.

Food quality was solid across everything everyone ordered. Very impressive was how quickly our order was delivered. I had the Reuben wrap (with pastrami) and it was excellent. No complaints from anyone else about the variety of things they ordered. Prices are a bit higher than we expected, however.

Service was attentive; not too friendly but they were certainly on top of things. We asked for separate checks (which we knew was a "wincing" request) but they didn't balk and politely ran everyone's card individually.  All in all, a good experience. I'd be a fan (4 stars) if it weren't for the high prices.

Dino runs one of the best diners in Rockland. The food consistently good, and the service is quick and friendly. The fish specials are always delicious and quite filling.

The Airmont Diner is great place to meet, eat and be seen.

Sadly I feel Dino has lost touch with his business. He used to be hands on and on top of everything.  Wake up Dino don't you notice there is no longer a 20 minute wait?

As far as diners go, I liked this a retro diner with fast and friendly service for a quick and fresh lunch. Nice music playing. My turkey club was way too big to bite and very good, served with piping hot chicken noodle soup loaded with noodles, rice, chicken, carrots celery, and very nice. Low cost, booths or tables and very clean.  A good stop on the way home from NYC.

Solid choice when it comes to choosing a diner in Rockland/North Jersey. The menu is very wide ranging, so you're bound to find something you like! They also do breakfast at all times, so if you're craving pancakes at 11 PM, they'll serve it to you! It's right off the highway, so it's easy to get to if you are traveling, as well as open late (1-2 AM).

The diner has gotten a little bit pricier as the years have gone by, but the portions are still the same. It's always a much better decision to go here then to Applebees across the street.

I guess I'm the odd many out in these reviews.  While my family found the food typical (not bad, not great, just typical for a good, Greek diner), our experience with the management was incredibly bad.  We had the following experience shortly after moving to Airmont back in 2006:

After dinner the waiter brought our bill.  Now, I'm an easy-go-lucky kind of guy, willing to accept a little "incorrect" math on a bill if it's just 20 or 30 cents.  But this order had a charge for large onion rings - and we didn't order onion rings - although my wife did ask to swap out (for an upcharge) onion rings for the fries that came with her burger.  When we asked the waiter what it was, he said he'd have to go back and check the order slip.

Shortly afterward, another (mid-30s?) fellow came to our table and started yelling at us.  Out of the blue.  We were kind of taken aback - yelled at simply asking for a clarification on our bill.  We asked to see the manager - he told us he was the owner!

We were now going to stand our ground - we were willing to pay an upcharge for rings instead of fries, but not $5.00 extra for separate rings.  He told us that we were out of line - we didn't know how to order from a diner menu.  Huh?  Strangely, he never even asked his own waiter for clarification on how we "ordered" the onion rings.  We were just wrong.

So he told us we couldn't leave because he was calling the police on us.  We called his bluff.  We waited 10 minutes in front of the register, and he wouldn't let us pay, although he finally gave in and let my wife pay in cash (not including the extra $5 for the un-ordered rings).

Maybe the guy was having a bad day.  I feel bad for his employees if he is like this all the time.  From friends and neighbors I met in the years after we moved there we realized that this could not have been the owner who started the diner.  I don't know who we encountered that night, but we never went back, and we let all our friends know why.

My advice - check your bill carefully, but be prepared to just pay whatever it says anyway.

My childhood was spent here. Dino knows anyone who is anyone in this section of Rockland County.
You can get baked stuffed clams or french toast at 5am. The burgers still taste the same as when I was a little kid. This place is one of the things I miss most about no longer living in the area.

I'm sure it's okay most of the time, but I can only go by my own experience.  Within two hours of my first time eating there (August 13, 2011), I was in the emergency room at Good Samaritan with food poisoning.  Needless to say, there won't be a second time.

The Airmont Diner is one of my favorite diners I've ever been to. The food is great and the service is quick. I don't understand the reviews on how the employees are nasty as I've never had a problem there at all. The food is fresh and the menu is huge. The prices are pretty much standard diner prices.

We usually go late the place is always packed with people coming back from bars or just simply hanging out. They have incredible burgers, some of the best I've ever had. I usually go with the BBQ, bacon cheddar cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. I like to throw some honey mustard, a few onion rings and some coleslaw on the burger and it tastes out of this world. The burgers are pretty big and always cooked to perfection and never burned one bit. My first recommendation is to get a burger from this place, especially if you are a burger enthusiast like me. The other thing I like to order is the Buffalo chicken wrap which is pretty spicy but bigger than most diners in size when it comes to wraps. The wrap is packed pretty good and comes with a side of blue cheese and fries.

The Airmont Diner gets a solid 5/5 because the food is top notch and better than a majority of all the diners out there. The service is fast and friendly and I have yet to encounter a problem with the food or the staff. The only issue I have is that I wish they would stay open 24/7 like all the other diners in the area. Either way, I highly recommend this diner over any others in the area and you will definitely leave full.

Horrible and expensive and nasty people working -owning the place.
We have tried this place a few times and got screwed each time with bad food and service.
Not back for years but they deserve a note for this.

Typical diner fare.  Had lunch here and had a ranch chicken wrap.  The food came out pretty quickly and tasted good.  Nothing mindblowing though.  The service was so-so.

You'll find a wide menu, as is typical with most diners, and the almost everything you pick will be top notch. I haven't tried most of the more-expensive dinners, however.

Service is excellent and Dino & co. really take care of their customers well -- including families.

3 couples have been returning for years, almost on a weekly basis for dinner Thursday nights. The value is still there although the prices have escalated. Often we split a dinner. The fish is always fresh and tasty. Can be cooked many ways. Along with a glass of wine, soup, choice of salad, 2 side dishes, fresh bread, coffee/tea and dessert. Dinner for 2 approx. $45 with tip. I can't tell you how many times i've dined in Manhattan at twice the cost and half the quality. Food is always hot, waitress always with good suggestions, plus great comedy entertainment courtesy of the owner, Dino. If you're not in a dinner mood they will prepare almost anything. Recently they've installed multiple plasma monitors to follow sports. One is never rushed and we sometimes stay 2 hours. And if there's a birthday one is serenaded in 2 languages including a surprise dessert "on the house".
Best bang for the buck in Rockland. I wouldn't change anything.
