I had a BLAST here and I do mean nuclear - the last time I had this much fun was at Nacionales wayyy back in the days. The music was tight, nice mixed crowd but oddly enough there was no air conditioning and it's def. not a supper club - rather misleading name for a club.

Oh, I went here couple of years ago (talk about a delayed review) so things could've changed since then.

Tuesday nights is Salsa night at the Air Conditioned Supper Club.  Beginner Lessons start at 8pm.  Intermediate lessons start at 9pm.  Then at 10, it turns into a salsa club.

The cover is only $5.  That's a very good price.. for cover.. and lessons!  If you stay for both lessons, that's $5 for 2 hours!

When I went, there were two instructors who stood on stage.  We all stood around .. kind of like an aerobics class.  After they showed us a few basic steps, we lined up in two lines.. and practiced for 5 or so minutes with our partner.  After 5 or so minutes, the men rotated.  So, every couple of minutes or so during the lessons you get a new partner.  Which is pretty good.. because then you get to learn something new from each partner.

The instructors were pretty good.  It was easy to understand and follow their instructions.  Also, the class was evenly matched. (Male / Female ratio). .. and there was a WIDE range of people, young, old, short, tall.

The place started getting pretty packed for the intermediate class.  There was almost no room to swing your arm out.  Which could be good.

Also, when I got in, I didn't get any drama at the door from the security.

Cool music in a bad place.

I support Marques and the entire Deep crew and all that they do but I am sick of these lame venue's. Why not just get a loft already and call it a day.

I'm getting hassled by security at the door and inside. That man had the nerve to call me ugly. Like, what the hell did I do to him and what man calls a woman ugly? Clearly he was having a bad night.

Cool music in a bad place. I've been here a few times but never ever again.

Where is the A/C in Air Conditioned?

When a couple of our lovely Yelpettes wanted to celebrate their birthdays in this nice posh redone night club along Lincoln Blvd, I have some reservations. The parking in here is a little hard to find, but you can park across the street at Street & Final.

The exterior of this club didn't looked very appealing. It had just one kooky of a sign that indicated it was a club, but you would have to closely inspect a sign close to the door to realize you arrive to the location.

The interior of the club is divided into three parts of the section. There is a small lounge (almost like a private hangout) next to the bar. Then there is a major bar with private dining booths along the walls for dining. In a cool way, there is a stage for the DJ to spin their sound in front of a mini dance area right next to the stage. This is located at the far left end when you enter the bar.

Here's my beef with the layout of this place... there is really no place to sit.

The lounge is very small and only have a few sofa seats. When our party arrived for a get together, the lounge had already was packed with TWO other birthday parties by 8:30pm. In the picture, the bar has stool seats. Well, they removed that by around 9pm. So in essence, you are just standing around or if you happen to spend big bucks that night with champagne and buying bottles of Grey Goose, then you can reserve a booth seat. Otherwise, you are way out of luck.

The place is very swanky and the bartender does a great job at getting my drinks out fast. The drinks are very strong here. No water-down weak stuff, thank goodness. I really do want to like the place. It's something for me to consider coming on a less crowded night.

The Friday night I was there was a major turn off because of overcrowding (a little shove and there) and lack of places to sit. I know they do try to do some crowd control by making people wait in line and charging $5 cover charge at 10pm. The only suggestion I can make is either making the lounge area a little bigger or bring out the stools for the bar. I would be a little bit more appreciated.

Interestingly, I didn't feel the "Air Conditioned" in the club either. Is it just me?

    WOW!!

I cannot believe that I have not reviewed this place yet.

I love this place, the DJ on Saturday nights is amazing, keeps the whole crowd dancing all night long!
and the drinks, well I love their drinks!

I've come here with girlfriends and the line gets really long :( boohoo I hate waiting.

I also came here with a guy I was dating a few times and even though we got there at 11pm and the line was super long every time he always managed to "tip" the bouncer and we were in in no time.

I would strongly suggest to get there early to avoid the line unless you can pay up the $40 per person "tip" the bouncers asks for.

When Old Dirty Bastard wasn't partaking in the finer crack in life, he was dropping bombs in the studio.  His soul rests in peace, but his music still bumps.  And any club that pumps "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" through the speakers gets the Borat High-Five... Actually, minus a gold star for making Marc S. take his stylish cap back to the car.  Only to find a bunch of cats with covered heads, once inside.

Friday nights are where it's at.  The resident DJ knows my kind of hip hop and she's got some great mashups that you won't hear anywhere else.   Free parking at Smart & Final across the street and a 5 dollar cover?!  Now that's a combination you won't find in Hollywood.

Only in Venice can you find a spot with hip hop heads, A&F frat dudes and dolled-up curves.  Not to mention that random weird dude who asked our birthday boy, Ryan W., if he could see his "package."  Hey, Ryan... are you really surprised that happened?  What with you wearing  a pair of those super-tight emo pants and all.  Like my boy John W. said, "Your pants are so tight, you need to put them shits on with a tire iron!"

You don't like waiting in lines?  Then get here early.... also to avoid the $5 cover charge.  This place gets crowded fast!

This is a pretty club... formerly a Mexican Gentleman's Club... this is now just a hip place with pretty lights behind the bar, decent sized dancefloor, stage, big booths, and a lounge area to the side for chillin'.  Music isn't always the best (mostly hip hop, Thursdays is house) but I've always had a good time here.  Not to mention the hot bartender with pretty blue eyes always charges me $1-2 less for my drinks than those with me... it's really odd... but I'm not complaining!  : )

I haven't found any trouble with street parking... but I'm smart and get there early enough to avoid the hassels of lines, cover and valet... which tend to kill a night at times.

Came here a couple Fridays ago for their monthly Vintage Soul Fridays hosted by Shinichi and backed by his 8 piece band, All The Way Live.  Headlining the event was Martin Luther (http://www.youtube.com...), a funk/soul artist who played guitar a couple years for an obscure up-and-coming hip-hop band you may have heard of, The Roots.  Also appearing, though unbeknownst to me at the time I purchased tickets was Cody Chesnutt, also a former Roots collaborator (seen on guitar and chorus here: http://www.youtube.com...), sporting his obligatory embellished cape and military helmet garb.

The crowd for the evening was an eclectic mix of middle aged hippies, 20 and 30 something funk/soul fans, and a random group of people presumably of Indian descent who seemed less interested in the show and instead had simply selected the venue as their social destination for the night.  The show kicked off shortly after 10, with the host band getting things going, followed by Luther and then finally Chesnutt.

My attendance was due to Luther's presence, with Chesnutt being an added bonus, and neither man failed to impress.  Luther's 40 minute set was highlighted by the incredible guitar play and soulful crooning he's come to be known for, as he sang and strummed to the crowds' delight.  Chesnutt went up for a much more truncated set, performing just a handful of songs but masterfully working and controlling the crowd to the point that his entire audience seemed transically mesmerized under the spell of his passionate vocals and piercing visage.

All in all an amazing show with both men absolutely ripping down the stage, and an incredible bargain for the mere $15 cover.  The club itself proved to be a capable if not ideal venue and backdrop for the heavy rhythms and lush grooves laid down with ample and comfortable seating as well as plenty of standing room in front of and around the stage.  The bartenders were personable and maintained the casual and intimate atmosphere of the club and evening.  There is nothing overly impressive about the décor and confines, yet it functions perfectly in framing the low key ambiance required for this type of small scale show.  I definitely won't hesitate to return, and with artists like this on the bill that certainly will come sooner than later.

NOTE: Major Yelp faux pas made by me: I reviewed "Air Conditioned" on 5/22/09 with the following review, but just now realized that I meant to review "Air Conditioned Supper Club" (uhhh, wtf with the names). My review is the same, I just deleted my review for "Air Conditioned" (the wine bar/lounge) so people don't get the wrong impression. Please forgive.

O-M-G. I made a revelation after coming here. I think I'm kind of a douchebag. Holy crap!!

I came here for a 3-person bday celebration so I didn't have to wait in any line and the bouncers seemed nice enough anyway. The place is huge with three separate areas that I classified as "the fun zone", "the drink zone" and "the talk zone". The architects did their jobs because you enter smack dab in the middle of the drink zone where the main bar and the bottle-service table for the 3 celebrants were located. And of course you're gonna go straight to the bar. As I always say, you can't go wrong in the drink zone. At the same time, you can go VERY wrong in the drink zone.

The talk zone is the room to the right of the entrance where there's a lot of seating, another bar, and it's a lot more calm. I went in there a few times to talk to people so I could actually hear what they were saying, but I could never stay for too long. The fun zone is to the left of the entrance, where all the dancing goes on. Dancing to good music too--a mix of hip hop, pop, and old school stuff. And with a stage you can dance on and pretend like you're somebody. Somebody special and kinda douchey.

So why am I such a douchebag? Because I'm apparently that freakin' "woo" guy who creates loud havoc when he's drunk, pushing people out of his way to look for a ring that fell off his finger, trying to eat other people's food at their tables, spilling drinks all over people, and taking up entirely way too much room to dance. And the poor, tiny Latino busboy. All he wants to do is his job--do I have to harass him EVERY time he comes around?? Although, I think he started enjoying it because he came back more frequently after the second time I harassed him.

Overall, a fun place to be and great for big birthdays. And best yet, I didn't yak coz I think I've successfully learned to space my drinks out so I don't yak. Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't have any problems when I woke up the next morning. Tons of space for dancing, lounging, talking, and drinking. And it actually is air conditioned!!!  I didn't sweat as much as I normally do in clubs while I was dancing. Definitely one of those triple threats (dancing, bar, and lounge) that I love.

A chill amazing space, awesome house music, friendly and hip people, on Lincoln in Venice, just 2 miles from my house: who would'a thunk it?

So I was in the craziest rush in the world trying to make it here to meet up with R, whom I met at Medusa Lounge a couple of weeks back. Now I must confess: I don't really go out by myself, not to a club, at least. It's just not a thing I do. So when R told me to meet her there, I told myself, "OK, let's see what happens."

We made plans to meet there at 11, but I rolled in a bit late, closer to midnight. There were no open parking spots on street level, but I found one in the residentials off to the side, about a block away.

She texted me as I was walking up, and we agreed to meet up front. When I got there, I was immediately greeted by some really cool people, and next thing you know I was talking to a couple guys and girls, and one of them is holding my hand. Dope.

A few minutes later, I made my excuse to go and walked in, where I met R at the door. Now AC Supper Club is a bonafide sleeper, folks. Outside it looks like a broken down warehouse with a janky sign and not much going for it. Inside is a whole new world. Deep burgundies, illuminated tables, minimal lighting, rich plush seating and a good sized dance floor all add up to a wonderfully sultry atmosphere.

The bar was full, but R walked me to the back bar, which was surprisingly empty. There, I met a gorgeous bartender who was totally friendly and easy to talk to. I wanted a Maker's Mark on the rocks, and she was out, but the sweet thing went out of her way to find a bottle from the main bar. I made sure to tip her well, and she was calling me by name and hooking me up all night. Nice.

R then introduced me to her awesome friends and we pretty much spent the rest of the evening dancing our faces off to some really good house music. Now, I'm not sure if all the venues here are as amazing as the one I was at, but it was really good: no douchebags, no grab assing, and a minimal amount of creepy dudes. Drink prices were really cheap too.

Awesome find. I'm giving R 5 stars for taking me here too.

A/C is across the street from a huge CCC and Park's BBQ and plenty of parking.

Divided into two sections with two bars, the main hall hosts the live music shows and a couple booths reserved for bottle service. The back room has ample seating - low love seats, long L shape sectional, etc - and another bar. The place got full without ever being crowded. Never had to 'wait' to order a drink, never felt claustrophobic.

The main hall had plenty of space to dance or just stand and chill. The sound is OK for the small space. If you sit in the back room, you have to move up to the main hall to hear the live performances cuz the sound doesn't carry that far.

Aside from being your average westside "club", the crowd is people watching at it's finest.

Whatever 15 reviews you just read, disregard. A/C is NOTHING like you'd imagine

    Highlights of the night include:

    - A crowd for a prior comedy showing was like a NRA convention in Corona. Think inbred foreheads, flannels, and methface. WTF.
    - Old people
    - Old hippies
    - Amazon women
    - Hipsters and scarves. Spazzy dancing.
    - Pervy dude with a porn stache
    - An indian convention.

So whatever you're thinking about wearing? Wear it. The worst that can happen is that you'll end up in some bitch's yelp review the next day.

If I was a different sort of girl, the fact that I've tried to get into A/C twice and bailed because the line was too ridiculous would have deterred me for good.  However, I still REALLY wanted to go, and this weekend presented the perfect time.  After a big weekly dinner with my boys, I was thisclose to another absurd night at The Shack (sans my favorite karaoke goddess) with them, until my faux-boyfriend lured me away into the night.  After a couple of meaningful looks over the table, we both knew what the other wanted --- HEY, MIND OUT OF GUTTER! --- we wanted something just a touch more classy.  We considered Barcopa again, or grabbing some Racer 5 at our Otherroom mainstay, until inspiration struck --- AIR CONDITIONED!  It was only about ten o'clock, we still had a prayer to get in.

And get in we did.  And happy for it.

The place is surprisingly large inside, dark, not too loud, with a DJ spinning a laughable stream of "hits" (he somehow managed to mix in new Diddy with what can only be described as a Michael Jackson mega-mix).  We settled in at one of the high tables, observed the crowd, and proceeded to get appropriately wasted.  I rocked steady with my new favorite, Citron and Sprite, while his classy ass perused the wine list.

One of our friends joined us three drinks in, and the three of us proceeded to rock the hell out of the dancefloor, along with some complete randoms, including a guy jauntily wearing a GUESS? sweatshirt, tied over his shoulders country club-style.  It was, in short, hilarious, and just what I needed.

Will definitely go back, albeit earlyish to avoid lines and to pay a manageable cover.

Night club with lots of potential. Formerly a hispanic "dance" club, this place has since then been converted to a nice trendy night club. Nice crowd, friendly and the dj played music for all to enjoy. Like Sam has mentioned, the outside decor needs some work but the inside is nice. Like most bars, the bar design is a common sight with mirrored glass and partition shelving with stock alcohol bottles as decor. Still a nice groove atmosphere and ample room to get your groove on. Like I said, this place has definite potential, and like most surrounding areas, this whole neighborhood will go through a major renovation in the near future with the influx of hollywood corps moving closer to the westside.
Im only giving this 3 stars for now and this could be higher depending on the lifespan on this club.

When All I wanna do is ZOOM-ZOOM-ZOOM-ZOOM AND A BOOM-BOOM AND SHAKE MY RUMP..I head over to AIr Condition Supper Club!

So Check baby, check, baby, got your I.D?
Check, baby, check, baby, gonna get  your drink on?
Check, baby, check, baby, ready to have a good time?
    Check, baby, check, baby, DANCE!
(a lil help if you don't know what I'm referencing to http://www.youtube.com...)

Now...Most people will get This Venice Air Condition Club mixed with the other Air Condition Club in Santa Monica. BUT don't get it twisted. You know you've came to the right one when you see a long line of party goers waiting feverishly to get in!

Being that we're SUCH BALLERS, please note the sarcastic tone, my friend and I decided to do bottle service for our birthdays. Reservations were made over the phone and we got a booth to accommodate a good amount of our friends.

AC isn't big nor is it small. It's split up into two sections. The main room, where you'll get your freak on accompanied with a large bar to satisfy your alcoholic mood. The adjacent room is more of a "lounge" with sofas and such with a small bar equipped to handle the weaksauce drinkers.

I don't know if every weekend is like this. BUT the Music here has to be one of th best I've experienced. NO top 40's! No 50 Cent! No MASH UPS! Just your good old 80-90's Hip Hop and RnB!

The crowd here is scattered and mixed with a variety of people but of course predominantly AZN. I had a good time here and would def break out my Rump Shaking moves.

What kinda name is "Air Conditioned" anyway?

I had never heard of this place...and now I know why.  It's on a barren strip of Lincoln, and looks like a seedy place you drive by...and just keep on drivin'.  Parking is easy and free (although you have to scurry across Lincoln from the adjacent strip mall).  They also have valet for $5, but there's really no point.

I've been on two occasions, both forgettable - minus the fact that I paid to get in, which still irks me. On a Thursday night, with not a soul in line and about 15 people in the joint, the cover was 10 bucks!  Ridiculous cover again on Saturday, but this time there was a massive line...nobody attractive or well-dressed though.

The crowd is urban, diverse and semi-trashy.  So if you're looking to stay very clear of the "LA scene", than this is the place.  Ladies - put on your sequin tube top and platform foam flip-flops (saw it with my own eyes).  Fellas - it's all about the baggy jeans and timbo's or the popped-collar and strategically-placed fedora.

The club is big.  The bar is super long but there's only 2 bartenders, so pull the "boobies on the bar" trick...or die of thirst.  It has a lounge area where you can chill on couches...perhaps retreat from the sub-par music (think weak techno on Thursday and 90's west coast rap to the point of nausea on Saturday).

    3rd time definitely won't be a charm...never going back.

    Wow.   Wow.

This place is s'cracking on Saturday nights!   Warm ambiance in a classy establishment.    The minute you enter, the hulk-like guards are extremely polite.    Couches are clean and cozy

Someone recommended that I try their Sliders, and they were pretty good.  Now that is a REAL spicy sirloin burger!    None of that Jack in the Crack shit.

Bartenders pour stiff ones and the prices are reasonable for call drinks.

Now that rare extra star I'm giving is for the DJ that is the resident here at AC.   He's got mad skills.       I'm a Hip Hop snob when it comes to the music, and so when I'm at a club, I'm really paying attention to the mixing and the selection of music.  He's definitely A class.     All the ADD'ers out there, you won't get bored.    Within the 4 hours I was there partying, he must have covered like 3 decades of hip hop/ R&B.    Lots of fun!

Nice mixture of people.   Girls came dressed to impress.   Guys came dressed for success.

I rarely give clubs/bars 5 stars, but I would have to put Air Conditioned as my favorite on the Santa Monica/Venice side.

    Talk about misleading!

I can think of at least 2 things wrong with the name...

The Air Conditioned Supper Club is neither:

    - Air Conditioned

       nor

    - a Supper Club

Unfortunately, I had to find out the hard way...
Folks, let my misfortune save you the embarrassment I had....

I was sitting at home on a Saturday night, rearranging the order of my pop record collection (this time from alphabetical to chronological) like I do every Saturday night, when suddenly my pager went off-
It was someone from my posse, inquiring if I had eaten supper already.  I replied that "indeed, I had NOT."  He asked if I'd like to accompany the gang (yeah, we're in a gang. No- you can't join) to a local Supper Club.  I said, and I quote- "Hmm... well, Bill, that all depends... is it AIR CONDITIONED???"  He assured me it was and off we went, walking down Lincoln Blvd, snapping our fingers in a synchronized fashion reminiscent of the "Beat It" video.
Unfortunately, what could have been a fun supper with the gang turned out to be standing around, listening to music in a hot and/or sweaty bar.

I vowed to never go back again- UNTIL I saw a flier for a Michael Jackson tribute night.  So you see, like the old U2 song says- "God moves in mysterious ways..."

    "A-OK".

    um, BOOOOOOO!!!!!

    W.
    T.
    F.

for a dinky little place in SANTA MONICA/VENICE, where you usually find places that are a little more "low key" (except for the few places on main street/promenade which are pretty much hollywood replicas, who shall not be named),
there should not be a "STRICT DRESS CODE", even if it IS a weekend.

the boyfriend was wearing shorts. not like, nasty gym shorts but long, dressy shorts. but no.  no matter how much we talked to christian and gabriel at the door, they couldn't make an exception.  at least they were nice.  that's why they get 3 stars.

gabriel kindly suggested we go to the walgreens down the street and buy sweatpants.

"sweatpants?! SWEAT pants!!" i exclaimed.   i point to the boy and say, "i mean, you prefer sweatpants to dressy shorts?!"

christian shook his head and said "ummm...i don't think that would work" to gabriel sincerely.  they told us that if we did want to come back later, they'd let us skip the line. and i said "how about no cover too?" and he said "no we can't do that" and i joked "you're going to make us go buy PANTS AND pay COVER??"

seriously having been to air conditioned on pico and other SM/Venice venues, we would not have thought this would be a problem.  it's effing SM.  if we wanted a DB hollywood venue, we would have gone there.

ok ok i know i'm only rating on the "door policy" (which by the way, whenever this exists on the west side, i see red flags).  i heard the music was good so i'd like to go back and supplement this review with more info!

I'm not really a big fan of the bar/club scene but on rare occasion I will go with some friends. With so many great places to hang out in LA, I wouldn't even bother coming here. The place was dead and after talking some shiznit to the retards at the door about their lame cover charge, my friends and I got in for free and let me tell you... it's still wasn't worth it.

Allow me to tell you why....
    1. It's a total dump on the outside
    2. It's in the middle of nowhere
    3. The dudes at the door are brainless, senseless tools
    4. It's dead inside
    5. Music is mediocre
    6. Drinks are overpriced
    7. Didn't really seem like it was airconditioned in there at all

And, on top of all that... they want people to PAY too... just to get inside! How's that for ya?

Alright, I have to be fair... the inside decor/layout isn't all THAT bad, but that alone doesn't makes up for all the cons I just listed.

    WOW.

The first night I went to this place (Saturday) was absolutely amazing--well, at least music-wise.  The line sucked because there were birthdays going on, so we stood outside from about 10-11 (1 hour) in the freezing cold.  When I finally got in, the place wasn't even near capacity.

It was an older crowd that Saturday night, probably between 24-28.  I didn't know so many Asian people lived in Venice because it felt like China Town out there--maybe it was the birthday parties.  Outside of the majority of Asians, though, it was a really nice mix of people.

The drinks here are kind of pricey, but they're stiff (as people have said).

The BEST thing about this place was the music.  The DJ was spinning HIT AFTER HIT AFTER HIT of old school hip hop--from Tribe to Outkast to Pac to Biggie to De La Soul--with a couple of popular modern songs ("from the windooooooow, to the waaalll...") thrown in.

My friend and I just vibed ALL night, and generally speaking, the whole crowd was into it too.  People were constantly spitting lyrics and giving a collective, "OH CRAP, do you remember this song?!"-squeal--(not me, I was being more manly of course).

Parking is free across the street at Smart and Final, and the cover after 10 is only 5 dollars.  The crowd seems very friendly and the dress code is non-existent (oh, no shorts i guess?)--all great stuff

Want to know why this place has 3 stars instead of 5?

    BECAUSE WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUCKS HERE.

I went with a group, already anticipating a dead bar, but the place was dismal.  Outside of 8 old men, my group of 11 were the only people there.  I asked about music, and the bouncer said, "The bartender is the DJ tonight."  WHAT?!  So we wanted to get ONE round of drinks before we left, but my sister tells me, "I asked the bartender for a Surfer on Acid and he asked me what was in it."  Apparently the "bartender" was the assistant manager--he couldn't make a red bull and vodka if we asked!

I want so badly to give this place a 4 stars at least, but that Wednesday night scarred me.  Still, ask me to come on Friday or Saturday and I'm probably down.

wow what's with the average rating of 4 stars???

    This place is crap.

My friends and I only came here for someone's birthday, and believe me, we wouldn't have come otherwise. First of all, the location is completely random. It looks totally rundown on the outside, with a sign that looks at least 20 years old. We showed up around 11, which was our bad because we didn't expect dinner to run so long, and there was a line. Now, it's not that I DIDN'T expect a line, but I did not expect it to barely move. The line was also full of nondescript-looking people, and after 40 minutes we were still waiting in it. I work at the clubs, I get how holding the lines make it look like a happening place... but for this crappy establishment? Give me a break!!

After getting inside, which only happened because we tagged on to someone's table reservation, what we saw inside was just as bad as it was outside. While the bar at least looked decent, the rest of it was just... there are no words. Tables lined the side (although who would buy bottle service at a place like this is beyond me) and there was a dirty old stage in the back. The place is supremely tiny, and stuffy. Why is it called air conditioned if there is no ventilation?? I really don't have enough room in this review to describe how grossed out I was by the place, and equally by the crowd. We ended up leaving after an hour.... and don't ever plan on coming here again.

I'm sad kfsy only gave this place a 3 cuz he was drinkin' a pretty rare find in SoCal, Cruzan Coconut with pineapple. So i gotta give this place a 4 just to balance out.

We love Cruzan coconut. More booze than Malibu, more flavor than Bacardi Coco. Reminds us of Puerto Rico. And me of bootilicious PR chicas in tight semi transparent white pants and g-strings. Prices were reasonable (double Makers for $9). Parking was easy; no cover. Chill bartenders that actually spoke. Music was ok before it got packed, but after 1030p, we could no longer converse comfortably.

but gdamn was it hot in there. tres ironic.

ps. i fail to see how "no shorts allowed" is a STRICT dress code, but.. whatevers... sneaker-wearing fools bitch about getting into Edison too...

    Turn on the Air Conditioner!!!

A friend from waaay back mentioned to me that a group of her co-workers were meeting for Salsa at Air Conditioned. First we had to figure out which one she meant...there are two locations. One location is a bar/ lounge in Santa Monica, the other is an actual club in Venice on Lincoln.

Once we figured out which of the venues we were going to we arrived to find.
    1. They advertise PLENTY of parking...FALSE, we had to park across the street in front of an indoor swap meet, and walk across Lincoln's traffic.
    2. They also advertise on the website that on Salsa Tuesdays, the cover is $5.00 per person before 10pm...False Again! we arrived at 8:10 for the beginner class, and were charged $10 each at the door.

The class itself was fun, it was nice to be able to catch up on my steps, and get the chance to learn my partner through the awkwardness of the beginner class. The instructors were very clear in their directions, and being surrounded by many other beginners made re-learning a lot less painful.

The venue itself was surprisingly classy, spacious, and well planned out. There was plenty of lounge space with couches along the walls. The drinks were what you would expect to pay in the area (rum and coke $8) The vibe was friendly, and I will say a VERY mixed group. The music was fun, and well selected, and included a nice variety of Salsa, Cumbias, Merengue, and some Bandas

All in all, it was a decent experience...I might go back.

I actually liked AC....drinks were decent.  We didnt stay there long, but during the time we were there, the DJ was jammin, and the place had  a pretty good vibe.

Need to go back for a little more insight...we were actually trying to determine if we were going to have a great time here and have a bunch of drinks or just keep it low key.

    We kept it low key.

Highlights - The bartenders were friendly and attentive, the drinks weren't watered down, the bathroom was surprisingly clean, no cover charge before 10, free parking, and for the most part the music was pretty good.

    Low points -
No where to sit!! Those pictures posted on here that show the bar with all those "cozy" looking bar-stools. Yeah.. no. I was there last night and the only places to sit required a down-payment. It's not that I have to be sitting all the time.. but the option sure would be nice.

Also the music was a little too loud for me. It made having conversations difficult. But perhaps that is just most bar/clubs and I am being an old fart about it.

I am not itching to get back there.. but after weighing the pros and cons.. It's not a bad place!

We stood in a joke of a line where they continuously just let people right on in. Their was even a $5 cover(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) It was a Saturday night and the club was overflowing with drunk, unattractive people who loved to rub up against me as they attempted to slither around as seductively as they could.

The best thing about this place is probably the decent, somewhat current hip-hop and rap that they spin. I even bounced around for a couple minutes before coming to my senses and exiting as rapidly as I could.

I'm going to say I probably won't come to Air-Conditioned again, on purpose. This is my 2nd visit and it was no more memorable than my 1st, which was one of my friend's bdays so I HAD to be there that time as well. Hey, at least I gave it a shot...

Okay, I'll begin with three lovely words for this club...NOT AIR CONDITIONED!!  This place is extremely hot for a club that names itself The Air Conditioned.  As you walk through the place, you can hear complaints from nearly everyone about how hot and sweaty the club is!  Other than the extreme heat in this club, the bartenders pour a good drink but charge inconsistent amounts for the same drink.  For example, one margarita may cost $8, another may cost $10, and another may cost $12...very irritating!
A positive is that the crowd here is very diverse, friendly, and random...in a good way.  On a good night, the club is packed with cute boys...and even cuter door men!  The cute boys are the only reason I'd consider going back to the Air Conditioned.

Air Conditioned is a nice place to go, and i usually show up right when they open at 7pm for an after work drink.  The decor is very warm, and the bartenders are pretty nice.

The food is decent, but i usually only get their mixed fries basket served in a big martini glass.  The weekends can get crowded, but not unmanageable.  They've got live performers some nights, and DJ's the other nights depending on your mood.

Kinda in a random location with not much else near it, this place is a nice option in Venice to go if you want some good drinks and some dancing. Unlike the lounge/wine bar Air Conditioned on Pico, this place has a stage and lots of room inside including plenty of tables and chairs to lounge around in and a dance area. I went here for their New Year's bash and they brought out pretty tasty appetizers like grilled garlic shrimp skewers and these tasty sweet potato fries (although not as good as the ones at F.O.!!) but it was actually an affordable NYE event that came with food and a couple drink tickets included in the price. Oh and they had a live jazz band kinda 20's style who was awesome! I hear they have bands perform there every now and then, so be sure to check out their website for event listings! The live music was better than the DJ that night by far.

Their drinks were made very well including mojitos which not all bars make so take advantage of that!! The decor is a little dark and doesn't quite set the party like mood I like in a lounge, but it works, and everyone there ended up pretty happy by the end of the night if you know what i mean!!

Came here on a rainy Saturday night for my friend's birthday and I hafta say, this place rocks!  It's a lot of fun and the music is definitely boomin' with a kick-ass DJ.  Great crowd, and a cool urban atmosphere combine to make this place a hot spot for celebrating a birthday or to grab some drinks.  The place is literally unmarked on the outside.  And what's up with the quirky name?

I'm not big on lounges or bars, but I was pleasantly surprised with the club-like atmosphere it transforms into later into the night.  I found the drinks here cheap and definitely worth it.  It's rare that I ever buy drinks for my friends (I'm a cheap bastard), and here I found myself buying 2 rounds.

It does get pretty crowded here but overall not too bad.   I had a fun time here with friends and the crowd and music was awesome.  Even the bouncers were friendly and even helpful- that's rare!   And big  big plus for me: Casual "dress code" FTW!

Great crowd, music & urban vibe combine with cheap (but good) drinks?  Sign me up!  Plus no cover before 10?  I'm down :)  The only real issues I had with this place is the lack of ventilation (iron) and the bitchy Asian bartender girl.

I was somewhat impressed with this place.

    1. Saturday night, 11PM - walked right into a semi crowded bar/club for $5
    2. Hot women everywhere - mostly Asian, but also Caucasian and black
    3. Not a sausage-fest or at least, not on the night I went. Good mix of men and women.
3a. Mostly 22 - 30 age group, but certainly a few guys/girls in their early to mid 30's. No one seemed to care from what I could tell.
    4. Music is too loud to do any talking. There is a small room at one end of the place where you can talk. It was all DJ music the night I went.
    5. Drinks are not outrageously expensive. Meaning $9/cocktail and not $15

First came here for a friends private birthday party 6 months ago. Two months ago tried it out with one of my friends with the local crowd. Have to say this place is not my scene. Parking *do valet* right on busy Lincoln Blvd with a cop busting a kid on a bike or a drunk driver is not my idea of a safe or hip place. I also thought smoking in front of the club looks pretty bad. Again, being on Lincoln at night is not the brighest thing to do.
The bar staff is crappy. Placing a drink order is a total pain in the ass! Top shelf booze is totally cheap and I personally think the drinks are very pricey!!!! The dance floor is cement. It's not even a dance floor. Just a little area near the big RSVP booths and next to the d.j. and this lame ass long counter that you stand at smacked in the middle of this bar/club. The back rooms are nice to chill in. I will give the place credit for that.

Don't know how long this place will last. To me Lincoln Blvd is more about bars and food, not nightclubs!!

Me: What kind of music is the DJ spinning tonight?
    Bouncer #1: Hip Hop.
    Me:*high fives Bouncer #1, Bouncer #2, & Doorman.
Bouncer #2: Haha! Well we better see you dancing on that stage!

It was a girls night bday celebration for one of my BFF's. We got that party started on the dance floor. Even though the DJ didn't know how to keep a consistent flow of the right music, we made do. A/C should have paid us for all the entertainment we provided, it was nutso.

There was this adorable short & stout grey-haired man who was braving it solo on the dance floor. He looked like a smiling buddah with glasses on. All the girls in our group surrounded him in a circle and danced with him in the middle of it. He just smiled and didn't say one word. Sweet little man. I almost rubbed his belly for good luck.

When we branched off, birthday girl continued to dance with smiling buddah.  It was like a twisted episode of dancing with the stars. At one point, she did a move where she bent over to shake her booty, and all I remember was the perfect alignment of her ass to his belly. Belly to booty. That little number proved to be quite the crowd pleaser.

A few more drinks down the hatch later, birthday girl went on stage and performed a solo act. Dropped it low, booty popped. She was working it - glistening sweat and all. A GF from our group went up to join her. She dropped it so low in fact, that she ripped a new hole in the knees of her jeans. You know when you rip holes in your jeans, you're not 'effin around.

Grey goose $9.00 and wells $8.00 poured by nice bartenders who will give you tall glasses of free H20 when you start looking all googly eyed after you finish that 5th drink you probably should have passed on.

They get another 1/2 star for projecting "The Last Dragon" on the walls. That movie was the shit when I was a little girl! My big bro used to watch it all the time. I often fantasized about having "the glow" and telling someone to "kiss my converse!" like Sho'Nuff. Now that I think of it, I had a crush on Bruce Leroy and was so jealous when Laura Charles kissed him. That hussy.

So Jessie and I managed to hit this place up every weekend for the past month.  I like to position this as Market Research for  Fellow Yelpers, But really it was only because the first time we went, the music was awesome.  We went on a Saturday night, skipped over the cover ($5) and danced all night long.

    So here are the details:

Music:  Love great hip hop? This MIGHT be the place for you.  One Saturday night it was great, the next (different DJ) not so much.  But I'll go again just in case...

Set up:  This place is pretty big which means you are never pushing your way through to the bar, the dance floor or the bathroom.  Oh, there are lines, but its not a mob scene

Cover:  $5 to get in, $5 to park. Every time we have gone, we found street parking within a block.

Lines:  If you don't like lines, be there by 10:30

Crowd:  Super nice!  People who come to this place are out to have fun.  Dress is everything from cocktail dresses to jeans, no matter what you are wearing, you'll fit in.

Smokers:  You will have plenty of fun company outside, lots of smokers and everyone is pretty cool

Staff: Awesome.  Nice, friendly, stiff drinks.  The works

Bathrooms:  The lines move quickly thanks to a large mirror outside the bathroom

Reserved tables:  If you want to have your birthday party here, do it!  Just reserve a booth near the dance floor for complete rock star status.

So I dinged it two stars for the change up in DJs.  You can't go from "my favorite music ever" to "huh" without losing a star or two!

Wednesday night with my entourage in tow...

after reading reviews from yelpers, we were hoping for a promising night out with "drinks to be drunk", cute servers, good music and room to dance.

to our disappointment, our "tender" didn't know how to mix, drinks nor music (since he was doubling up as both), no servers, an old reggae cd on repeat, and the movie "Home Alone 1" being projected onto the adjacent wall for viewing pleasure.

    In AC's defense:

    1) It was a Wed night
    2) There was no cover
    3) Dress code was fairly lax
    4) There was nice decor and plenty of space to mingle

    No Excuses for:

    1) bartender with no mixology knowledge
    2) lack of dj (or good music for that matter)

I wouldn't expect Saturdays to be as dismal as my Wednesday night experience, so I'll head back on a weekend and give it a chance to redeem itself.

**UPDATE: Went this past FRIDAY NIGHT and I've gotta say, it was quite a different scene than Wed night.  Good mixed crowd with mixed attire, friendly bartender who knew how to mix, and a live DJ spinning old hits that kept the floor busy.  It started out with two handfuls of people decorating the walls around 10:30 when I showed up, but by 12, the ladies couldn't dip it low without taking out half the dance floor!  The drinks were good enough that I made roundtrips one too many times and ended up leaving my credit card in the whole process.  Just spoke with a manager there who found the card and said they'd hang onto it for me.  Gotta say, they've redeemed themselves...(forgot to give 'em another star).  I'll be back in the future. (just not on a wed night)

    Here's my story:

I hear that a friend of a friend is having her birthday party here.  I am like "AC Supper Club?  WTF Does the AC stand for?"

In any case, ACSC is the LEAST DISCRIMINATING place I've ever been.  A huge melting pot of different ages, races, etc.  And it wasn't just undiscriminating in terms of diversity:  I got in wearing a T-shirt and jeans, and the cover is only $5 (the wait to get in was super short too).  This isn't the type of place that bullshits around and tries to let only the girls in your party in.  Everyone in our party got in without a problem.

A lot of people thought the DJ sucked.  I didn't really notice.  I was having a great time.

ACSC was the most unpretentious place I've ever been, even when I include nightclubs in Mammoth, CA.  There were just a ton of people there having a great time.

It's not the "nicest" place you could ever go, but drinks aren't too expensive here and it's way bigger than most clubs / bars in Santa Monica (which is just a stone's throw from Lincoln).

I would recommend it unless you can only have fun in a super hip and/or trendy club.
