I only go for HH with friends on Friday night - 6-8pm; great specials and the servers are very friendly. The best part - no one is ever there that early. So parking isnt too bad right then.

In the evening, they usually have a DJ and he sometimes gives out some free stuff.

The bar is close to a few restaurants;there is a Mex joint close by and you can bring in your food to the AC Lounge.

Definitely go for fun and stay for late night if you like to dance.

Small.

Music was not that great. Unless it was the DJ that night.

I would just go here if you were bored with NOTHING ELSE TO DO.

I'm convinced Air Conditioned is where the cougars go when they want to take a break from partying in Del Mar and La Jolla.  The last two times I came here it seemed to be populated by an older crowd.  Don't get me wrong!  I'm down w/ old ppl; it just makes it hard to feel hip when I'm at a club w/ folks old enough to have birthed me.

The decor was cool, but the music was meeeh.

I got a few good laughs out of ppl trying to look hot while dancing around the stripper pole in the middle of the Freon Room.

This AC is kind of like the two Air Conditioneds in West LA (Venice, Santa Monica) had a child. One is bigger with loud music, where people go to get wasted and dance, and the other is a quieter lounge-type place where you can't really dance without running into people, but it's a great place to sit and talk with friends. The San Diego AC is somewhere in between.

I wasn't really into the music that the DJ was spinning and there were a couple big birthday parties that took over the dance floor, but I thought that the ambiance was decent. There is a dance floor, a few standing tables, and a couple areas that I'm guessing are generally reserved for parties (one removed from the dance floor on the side and one right in the mix). With the size of the place and the layout, it didn't seem like this was the place to go if you wanted to get all dressed up and go "out out," but it was a fun place to grab a couple drinks and dance for a bit with your lady.

Outside of the actual bar and special areas, there is some space to sit on some benches near the wall, but it's not really a place to have a quiet drink and talk with friends. As the night goes on, it fills up!

Nothing too amazing, but I think it's a compromise that serves its purpose, which might be a confusing purpose because it is neither super dance club, nor chill lounge.

Moments after the White Rabbit Event at Syrah ended, many people were headed to the AC Lounge where DJ Edgartronic was spinning. I have never been here prior, other then being told they were closed because it was dead for a weekday evening.

Sure enough there was many in white still rolling strong here.  Parking wasn't that easy, but I did see a giant bunny leave to the streets.  Inside I switched my drinking venture from vodka, to what the most interesting man in the world drinks...ha...XX cervezas!

I recall DJ Edgartronic was playing some good 80's tunes. It was a good vibe, then my wifey called me asking to pick her up. By the time I returned, this place did a mean switch-a-roo on me. Just about everyone that was here in whites were gone, suddenly it was replaced by blacks, grays and beanies (in hot July?).

Not only the music changed, but it was intense as these guys started dancing hopscotch with each other. My wife was tripping and said we must be getting old if we couldn't figure out what was going on on the dance floor. More I think about it, they must of been jumping on cockroaches at the rate they were going.

AC delivers a cool atmosphere where the ambient colors of the bright sun are clear. The oranges, yellows and bland reds are everywhere. The decor is impressive with the little space they have. Even the bitching 007 posters illuminated in the back make a great visual effect to enjoy.

I agree with that the drinks are a little pricey. I tripped out on the restrooms set up. I was pretty buzzed by then, but thank goodness some random chick pointed the way to the men's stall. It was weird draining the lizard with western styled swing doors only a few feet away from the crowd chilling in this funky set up.

I didn't get a catch of the VIP section, but I heard it is small back there too. I was able to get a table and enjoy the show for what it's worth. All of us had a good time, but next time's for sure I double check what kind of music they will be playing and bring my can of Raid!

The fat: DJ Edgartronic is the shitnizz!

The skinny: Pricey drinks can add up in the end.

This place surprised me!  Many people at Syrah asked me if I was going to AC afterward and my first thought was, "Uh... Isn't that place sketch city?"  I answered my own question by going and it wasn't shady at all.  Just interestingly inconspicuous due to no windows, very basic signage, and white paint.

They had two nice door guys working the front.  I went inside and it's pretty basic with the bar on one side, dance floor on the other, and DJ's booth against the far wall.

I would give the place itself 3 stars, but thanks to Edgar's DJ powers and  the group I was running with last night it was a 5 star experience.  Dancing!  I haven't danced in far too long!  It was lovely to be back on the floor, bustin' it out with a ton of other Yelpers who had the same mission.  On my downtime, I got to continue some great conversations with great people I'd met earlier that night at Syrah.

Then I met up with some awesome people after at Rudford's, stuffed my face, and passed out at home.  I dunno how this place is on other nights, but if it's got a dance floor, and some cool DJ's spinning, I'm game!

Edgar, Edgar, Edgar, how I love thee.  I'm only here on Thursday nights when Edgar's spinning, so I can't comment on this place during other nights of the week.

Strong drinks and terrific music to dance to.  Edgar drops everything from House to Dubstep, keeping your happy feet moving along.

I have no complaints- but then, I'm easy to please.  I'm here to get my drink and dance on, not sit around trying to look cool.  As long as the DJ's banging down the beats, I'm down for the shimmy.

The Air Conditioned Lounge was a cool place. I've only been twice but both times were equally cool. The DJ spinning, people dancing and having a great time and the retro look fits it well i suppose.

The only thing that i didn't plan for was the prices but that seems to be the downfall of living under the California sun these days.

I have to say it's a pretty popular little spot by my calculations and its fun. I would go again.

The setup at AC Lounge is masterfully disguised from the outside.  Unassuming and windowless, there is nothing special about the exterior of AC Lounge, but once inside, our hero was transported to an oasis of super-spy mystery in University Heights.  The decor is leathery and hip, and the crowd is young and random.  James Bond movie posters line the side of the sunken private drinking pit and a VIP room with a dancing pole occupies the opposite corner of the small lounge.

When DJ Edgartronic holds court here for Boombox Thursdays, faces are melted and panties are vaporized by the sheer awesomeness of the phat beats he drops.  Likewise, DJ Groundfloor tears up the speaker system with head banging electronica tracks that make our hero thankful that the walls are padded here.

When you visit here on a Thursday, it's pretty much mandatory to get a typical "Boombox photo" in the back corner against the padded leather backdrop.  Later on, you can look back on those photos and think about how much better you looked before you ended up on a stranger's bathroom floor on a Friday morning.

PROS:
- Sick Boombox Thursdays with no cover to get in.
- Fairly nice lounge for the University Heights area that brings a downtown feel to the area.

CONS:
- Doesn't really get packed until 11 PM or so.
- The washroom setup is sort of strange.  Communal sinks, unisex bathrooms, and separate men's urinals in a different room that doesn't even have a real door.

I remember going here on Big Sonic Chill nights every tuesday a few years back.
Since then, the bar has evolved slightly, but the feel is the same.

The crowd is generally really cool. Fights RARELY break out.

Joe "burrito" is an awesome barkeep and generally will attend to your drinking needs with a smile and a sense of urgency.

My personal favorite is Boombox Thursdays.. if you like to dance, this is the spot where you can bust your moves freely. Edgartronic is still laying down some of the best dance mixes I've ever heard live every thurs for FREE!
You gotta see it to belive it.
So yeah, as a veteran of the AC lounge, I can honestly say it is one of my favorite bars in SD.
Cuties, cold beers, strong cocktails, killer dance floor, cool people, and a nifty james bond theme. Hell, Today is Thursday and I want to go!

I'm only subtracting the one star for the $5 pints, back in the day they had some incredible drink specials. No longer. Meh.
If you see a semi-wasted white guy wearing my face and gettin' crazy on the dance floor here, say "HI" and join in.. awww yeeaahh.

I was here on a recent Tuesday night to watch my friend from work's band rock out.  Who would have thought that two of the three guys in our accounting department were über cool like that!

So we get there at 9:00-ish and the place is not crowded at all.  The guy to girl ratio was probably 3 1/2:1 (I gingerly use the 1/2 in my ratio since I'm not sure if some of them were into guys or girls) and it stayed that way for most of the evening.  They don't have beer on tap, but the selection of bottles chilling in the fridge was plentiful, they had Fat Tire, so I was happy!

Before the band played, they played random shows on the huge big screen.  I'm a fan of The Office, so I found myself watching the Rabies Fun Run episode between having conversations with my friend.

This joint only has a maximum capacity of 116 peeps, so you can imagine how packed it must get on the weekends.  One thing I wasn't thrilled about was the bathroom layout.  There's a swinging door for guys to take care of business at a urinal to the right of the community sink.  I'll admit, I'm a germaphobe and hope they can fix the one soap dispenser they have that wasn't functioning that night.

I'd go back and check it out when I won't have to worry about getting up early the next day on a school night!

Edgartronic makes me shake my sugarlumps like there's no tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I wish there wasn't one! Err, I meant today. What I'm trying to say is that I'm hungover as balls at work right now and I have Edgar and his flavorlicious grooves + Tron special (2-for-1 Patron shots) to thank for my current state of melancholy.

Oh well, I guess I just have to accept that Thursdays are the new Fridays thanks to this "Boombox Thursday" thing they got going on at AC. It's a great time! One thing I like about this event is that they get mad paparazzi up in this bitch. Everybody loves to have their picture taken and I found myself striking a pose and using unnecessary hand gestures in the hopes that they would capture a brief moment of my awesomeness on film. Of course, the photographer kept giving me a look like, "why don't you try a little harder, dickhead" so I stopped my moronic peacocking after about 5 minutes. Can't wait to see how those photos turned out though!

As for the bar itself Air Conditioned is the size of my closet and personal space is at a premium once the party starts jumping (read: after 10PM). After a few drinks I felt like Steven Seagal  as I elbowed about 6 people at the bar and 9 people on the dancefloor whilst getting my boogie on. I guess some folks just don't have an appreciation for The Robot or poplockin' nowadays. That ain't gonna stop me from performing these turbo-style dance moves any time soon though! Especially with the Tron man spinnin' hot fire!

So I imagine I'll come back to this place with a larger group of people next time and initiate them into this Thursday night groove-a-thon. I had a good time, I only spent 45 bucks for 5 coronas and 6 shots of TEKEELYA and I even got to see some fellow Yelpers (although I have yet to be formally introduced to the Elite/Veteran cult; apparently it's a lot like junior high). I'll definitely be rocking the VIP as well on my next trip to AC because you know I loves me some illicit ass-grabbing on plush cushiony couches. Mom, if you could see me now!

Brando Fontaine is my new friend. I met him at the AC Lounge. He was a little bit drunk and he spit when he talked but boy can that guy carry a conversation...That and cock block for his new buddy (me). He told me how he would love to hit up every girl on the dance floor but that he'd better not...for their sake. He told me he made million dollar deals and could get me into V.I.P. status at the Lounge. Even when I was feeling down about myself he told me "not to leave" him alone as he neede my help to get home. Unfortunately, the security at the lounge found my friend to be drunk and kicked him out. I'll never know what happened to my great friend Brando Fontaine...Good luck sir, wherever you are.

9 times out of 10, the dude in front of me in line for a men's room doesn't wash his hands on the way out.  AC Lounge has sorted this issue out with unisex bathrooms that are in full view of the dance floor.

This place is kind of close to my house so I've been there quite a few times. I used to go every Tuesday when they had 94.9 there but then they left so we stopped going. The place starts picking up around 10 and can get really crowded by 11 most nights.

I like the decor of the place... they play movies/shows on the big screen tv, and they have a few cool seating areas if you can get them. The bartender is super cool so make sure you tip him. People are usually really friendly, too.

This place was once the spot, Tuesdays was hosted by 94.9, Friday & Saturday were awesome! They would spin 80's/90's (not sure if they still do?) drinks ($) aren't that bad, decor is nice (love the retro look). The only one complaint (OK maybe 2) is the lower VIP section. Its so small and get easily crowded with not much room to walk. Its gets really crowded so arriving here early is a must if more than 3 people. Overall i really liked this place until i noticed old people partying it up! don't get me wrong that's cool 'n' all but when they look like they belong at Plum Crazy (loco) that's not cool. I haven't been there in a while (1yr) so maybe things have changed! oh and the $5 cover is nothing compared to the ripoff prices DT has to offer. (i was referring to PC in Nasty City)

Stopped by here on Friday night for the first time at about 9:15. I had over a quick $5 cover for my girl and I. The bouncer told us to blow on our hands to dry the ink. The shitty ink quality was my first hint that the $5 cover wasn't worth it.

We get inside, turn the corner and see a big old empty room. I don't understand why bars insist on charging covers so god damn early. The DJ didn't even start spinning until about 10:30, and he was definitely hit or miss. How do you spin John Mellencamp's Life Goes On into Outkast's I like the Way You Move?

Drinks were good, moderately priced. I liked my Firehouse Hef. My girl ordered us a few foo foo shooters, white gummy bear, green apple martini, etc. They were all nice.

Overall this place wasn't worth the cover, but a fun spot if you want to go bar hopping.  Of course there aren't many choices in walking distance. Next time I'd like to check out Kadan.

A point for Firehouse hef.
A point for having a well decorated and cool bar.
A point for the interesting bathroom setup.

Went on a Saturday night (Jan 10th) with 3 other girls and 3 guys after dinner at Cantina Mayahuel around the corner:

-- Arrived before 10 and had to pay $5 cover

-- My husband had to take off his baseball cap and keep it off.  But, when we got inside, 3 other guys were wearing caps.

AND, get this:  They SELL AC baseball caps at the bar.  What the duck?!

-- The beats made me roll my eyes. For eg,  Timbaland's "The way I are" layered with Dee-lite's "Groove is in the heart".

-- $20 (inc. tip) for 2 house gin and tonics and 1 jack and coke. Drinks were on the strong-side (yeah!), but with lots of ice (boo).

-- Small space.  The layout of the place doesn't allow separation between waiting at the bar and being on the dance floor.  So, you're always bumped by someone dancing, whether you're dancing or you're standing at the bar for a drink or you're sitting at the bar having a drink.

-- Crowd on a Saturday night?  I liken the feeling to being around high school freshman trying to be as cool as high school seniors.  Where did I fall?  I felt like a college grad wondering what the hell I was doing at a high school freshman's house party.

WOULD I GO BACK?  Not if it was up to me.  If a friend had a birthday party there, sure I'd go -- for my friend.

WHAT WOULD I COMPARE IT TO:  It's comparable in size to El Dorado on 11th and Broadway.  I prefer the crowd, music, and layout of El Dorado.

Okay, so occasionally this place rocks. A lot. I went originally to see my buddy Edgar do his DJ thing and was hooked. I pop in randomly, so as not to be seen at predictable times, scope the mass of hotties and pretend to dance. It's niiiice.

I went to the AC lounge and had a blast!
Of course the blast I had was due more to the DJ than the actual club.  But nothing to complain about, free admission, good drinks, decent room to dance and decorated well, nice clean bathrooms.
The different theme nights, and the DJ's it pulls gives it it's 4 star status, definately makes me want to come back and boogie.

Um... I don't think there's AC in AC lounge. Which makes me wonder if they were being sarcastic when they named the place. Even still, I think it's worth bearing the heat at this place.  Lively hip hop, diverse crowd, fast drinks, and plenty of comfy seating.  The only thumbs-down might be the cramped size, but I think it adds to the local vibe

Outstanding - Literally, this is the only reason one star  is missing because we had to take turns going outside to stand to get air.  Get it: Outside + Standing = Outstanding! Umm, there was no air-condition to be found. other than that this place was OUTSTANDING!

Positives:

Super cute lounge

Drinks - Outstanding+big glasses.  What was that? An Adios m**th*r f****r! One of those is all you need.

Not pretentious

Great place to get together with friends

A stripper pole???

Music - LOVED IT!

Decided I need to go here the next time our fellow Yelper Edgar DJ's.

Definitely check it out. You won't be disappointed, unless of course you are into your Chanel, Burberry and Dior accessories. If you are into ute (uppity) instead of dte (down to earth) you may want to take it somewhere else.

stopped in as we drove home from a wedding, still wanting to get our dance on (hubby's not much of a dancer so if I get him drunk enough it's on like donkey kong!) this was my first time here and I have to say I totally loved it.  The people were all really cool and fun with only a few "if i am angry I am cooler" folks but they didn't damper our evening.  we danced to a great DJ, laughed and enjoyed the evening.  It reminded me of the bars I use to go to in LA (i.e. not mass heards of college girls/boys squealing or pea cocking about)

I look forward to many future nights of exuberant fun...with every new bar and restaurant SD is quickly become my home that I love!

Four stars for the coolest spot in Normal Heights.

A/C is my regular spot on Thursday nights.  I love to go out and have a few cocktails or beer at some other spot in the area.  Then I run over to A/C at 11 or midnight and dance my buzz away.  I live within walking distance from this place, so if I am still drunk, it's a easy walk home or a cheap ride back to the pad.

I never go to A/C on any other nights...always Thursday...always for DJs Edgartronic and Groundfloor.

This place gets hoppin' these boys serve up delicious tunes we can shake our boots to.  And they can make it hot on the dance floor.

The drinks are comparable in price and purity to other drinks in the area.  But on Thursday nights for Boombox, there is no cover.

There are no shorts, not baseball caps, and no limit to how much fun you can have.

For being Air Conditioned, how come this space is so hot?

Word up Edgartronic & Groundfloor!

I'm only writing this review based on the Boombox Thursdays night. I have never been there any other day of the week, nor do I currently feel a throbbing need.

First off, I don't know how anyone could rank this place as pricey given that admission (on Thursday nights at least) is FREE.

That settled, this place is fun! The DJs are the same ones from Static's ever-amazing Pop Noir nights, so of course the music is amazing. While the DJs are the same ones from Pop Noir, the music lineup and flow is a bit different from Pop Noir (but still great, as should be expected). The setting is very nice, clean and simplistic.

My only complaint is that the first night I went, there was a VIP room complete with stripper pole. It was very fun to have random exotic foreigners from Germany lapdance me. The VIP room has not been open any time I've visited since. Very disappointing.

Lack of exotic lapdances aside, it's a very fun place to dance with friends! I am not the clubbing type, but this place is one exception to the rule! So fun.

But please, open the VIP room back up to give public access to the stripper pole again. Thanks. =)

I came here last night, and thought to myself, "Why oh why did I ever stop coming here?"

Oh, yes, I remember now.  It really is a tragic story.

My old roommate and I used to come here EVERY TUESDAY, without fail.  The music is amazing (big sonic chill from 9p - 11p on Tuesdays, thanks to 94.9), and DJ Drew is great about playing requests.  Is?  Was?  It's been so long since i have been there on a Tuesday, that i can't say for sure if he is still the DJ -- i hope he is.  They also have raffles on Tuesdays, for concert tickets, drinks, etc.  I won tickets to the Secret Machines, Gomez, Comic-con (definitely gave those ones away), and more.  Thank you AC Lounge.

Eventually, my roommate and I got our own places, and she somehow jumped headfirst into the world of religion...so much so that going out and having a drink was complete debauchery in her book.  Sigh...I was left without a Tuesday night partner in crime.  Thanks a lot JESUS!

Eventually the days and months passed, and the Air Conditioned Lounge and I became little more than acquaintances.

But this Wednesday night, there was a reunion.  A happy one.  The place was almost empty, but my feelings were still there.  The music was good.  The drinks were good (pricey though -- try Kadan across the street to get a cheap pre-buzz).  I started falling in love all over again, and my memories -- the sights, sounds, smells of the place -- surrounded me like a warm blanket.

AC is a little swanky, has many COMFORTABLE, lounge-y  places to sit, and overall just has a cool (literally and figuratively!) vibe.  Weekends, it gets crowded, and the dance floor gets pretty packed.  During the week, not so much; more of a place to just have a glass of wine and talk.

Small and Personable...

$5 cover on Saturday (but we got in for FREE b/c we knew the DJ).
Drinks fairly priced (but we got 6 FREE tickets from the DJ).
Small dance floor.
Lots of places to sit.
Lots of ice & water and cups at the bar, just in case you need to sober up.

Music is just okay - lots of trance and old school, not too much hip-hop.

Guy to girl ratio = 50/50.

Parking is very tough - need to drive around the neighborhood and walk at least 2 blocks away.

Yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!@ This place was totally cool status homie G. I give it all kinds of colorful stars.

Great lighting. I suppose that maybe the fault of the semi-pro photographers and their umbrellas. Or perhaps the delightfully hip decor. Lots of reds and even some greens. Air Conditioned knows a thing or two about ambiance.

The music was pretty rad. Dance-able, yes. The Smashing Pumpkins "Zero" mix got me going good.

Drinks are average priced for the bar. $6.50 for a captain and coke. They definitely did the trick as my stomach is still in the process of learning.

There was enough room to mingle, yet get elbow room when needed. Lots of easy-on-the-eyes custys. Gotta come back on a regular night.

If you like being PACKED into a sardine can (oil, not water), against sweaty, stinky strangers, then this place is for you.  Don't be surprised if your hand lands in something weird.

Also, for some reason, all the idiots think it's a good idea to congregate around the bathrooms where the most traffic is.  Great idea.

The party pit in the corner of the room might have been cool, if everyone hadn't been using it as a giant trash can.

Ah....AC Lounge.

...continuing with my story.  Me and Marisol ended up here as DJ Edgartronic was spinning that night.  Edgar = very cool guy btw.  Thanks for the round of drinks.  Next one's on me.  This was my first time to hear Edgar lay down his set.  Needless to say, I was impressed and was definitely feeling it.

AC lounge is definitely a departure from what I'm used to going to Downtown/East Village.  Not complaining...not by a long shot....in fact I'm looking for more spots away from downtown just to mix it up.

I'm reading Marisol's last rvw  on this place

I didn't see much.  I guess mainly because it was a Thursday Night and it was relatively early when we got here. I guess the douchebags were not out on force...maybe they were watching reruns or DVR of  "The Pickup Artist on VH1?"

There was one particular Hispanic girl whom I noticed there who had the "Don't fuck with me or try to pick up on me look" painted all over her forehead.  Yeah you're somewhat cute...but seriously honey... you're a dime a dozen...there's nothing special about you.  So where am I going with this?  I was carrying some drinks over to Egdar and Marisol when this girl bumps into me inadvertantly causing me to spill just a little bit of one of the drinks.  Common courtesy, you'd think she'd smile and apologize...but no....she kinda gave me a look as if it was my fault...go figure....I was about to give her a look too..."You ain't all that", but I turned the other cheek and let it slide.  Instead I smiled at her and then proceeded on my way.  I didn't let that ruin my night because I was hanging out with good peeps and I wasn't gonna let this girl affect my mood.

Final note, me and Marisol were leaving the area and I turned onto El Cajon Blvd to get to the fwy.  What came next from Marisol's mouth was unexpected and funny at the same time...."El Cajon Blvd....you know there's hookers here".

Edgar N. was the only good thing about this lounge!  :(   And the photographer!

Well, okay, and it is a lot smaller than I expected, which makes sense as to why there's always a line to get in.  For some reason I imagined the AC Loung as kind of like an El Gato Loco (now Static Lounge??) for adults.  It's more like... well, it might be.

Anyway.
The drinks weren't stiff enough for this alcoholic!  Why do bartenders not like making Long Islands???  You became a bartender to fucking make drinks, not pop the caps off a few beers.  Yeesh.

I loved everything about this place until I went to the ladies room and the door attacked me. What the shit is up with that door? Ladies, beware. You open the thing and it is spring loaded to whap ya in the ass and while I love a good whap on the ass from time to time, it isn't so fun when you are holding a greyhound and your bladder is about to burst.

Other than that, let's talk about how great this place is. I love that from the outside it looks like nada. It's the kind of exterior that you would whiz past on your way to something else and if it weren't for all of the cute hipsters hanging out in front of it, you would never know that coolness is just a few steps away.

Inside, I guess I would describe the decor as kinda loungy mod with awesome James Bondish art on the walls reminding women that it is okay to have curves. Woot. There's also a cool little couch pit that is great for sitting in and judging people dancing to the beats. Definitely one of my fave hobbies...judging, that is. ;)

The drinks packed a punch and were pretty well priced and they have awesome DJs like the Notorious R.U.G! Awwhhh yeah

Edgartronic always gets the party going and DJ Junior and Mike Czech will give you a good time, everytime.

I just wish the club's dancefloor was a little bit bigger. I think I've had every type of drink spilled on me by people having to wade directly through the dancefloor to get to the bathroom or the passion pit or the dj booth.

This place could be an amazing lounge. But if you want to be a danceclub well there's certain things you need to have. #1 is a place that's big enough for me to shake my butt without having to have to keep looking over my shoulder for the next loser heading my way sloshing a drink.

Still the music is good and the bartenders are cool and the space has great atmosphere. A reliable good time.

I'm being generous in giving 3 stars because I came here for my cousin's boyfriend's birthday- and we stayed in the VIP room which was Air Conditioned (thank goodness).

The dance floor was packed with sweaty bodies, and it was liek being in a locker room after gym...but worse.

The music selection was eclectic- ranging from rap to pop to 80's classics.

The pole in the VIP room was a nice touch- the guys in the birthday party made sure to put it to good use *heh*

*no offense to douchebags- I think y'all are alright
----------------------
Side Note:
As we were waiting outside to get in, some guy came out and got his
a** beat by two other guys on the sidewalk while his gf was screaming like a banshee.

The security guards all came running trying to diffuse the situation...I turned to my brother and cousin with a WTF look on my face- too surreal : /

maybe its because i didn't go on the right night.
maybe its because i was turned off by the ugly exterior of the bar; actually, the inside was just as crappy.
maybe its because they charged my five bucks cover to drink/dance in a place no bigger than my living room.
maybe its because i just wasnt feelin the dj,
or maybe its just because the bathroom is NASTY

1 star is being too generous. i'd save my money and party in your room instead

Expensive North Park Wanna Be Bar Is Totally Worth It.

That's my headline for this place. The place is such a hipster hang out, but at the same time, it's a seedy bar/club north of north park. The drinks are made with love and the people love to be made... that didn't make sense, but in any case, the place is pretty awesome.

The cover is stupid... I mean all covers are as retarded as Simple Jack.

I have had fun every time I've been there, so it gets 4 stars from me. Not $5. That cover is full retarded.

I've been going to AC Lounge for 9 months now, I've lived in San Diego for just over a year. I usually go for Boombox Thursdays.

The bartenders are awesome, serve the best drinks I've had, other places just don't make them the same or to par.

Burrito, the main bartended you'll see there, is a real awesome guy, serving drinks as quick as he can and spot on.

The music on Thursday's is boomtastic! Spinning on Thursday nights is DJ Groundfloor and DJ Edgartronic. They spin 80s, Indy and Retro remixes, always spinning great music to dance to.

The crowd will vary from week to week, from 40+ people to 80+.

Also, the bouncers are very chill, except one who doesn't work there often enough to bother, he'll pull you off the floor if he "thinks" you're too drunk and have you hang out in front for a few.

Gary is the owner and will pop in from time to time to hangout, too.

I really love this place and should start popping in on weekends since it's pretty local to me.

Air Condition is located at 30th and Adams and has a really small lit up sign above the door, it's pretty hard to miss if it's your first time going.

Parking is sometimes a hastle if it's pretty busy, but a short walk is always nice.

The place is pretty small and when it's crowded, it gets warm, so the name doesn't really fit it when it's hot inside.

Photography is done by Matthew Torres, who is there every Thursday to snap your beautiful mug. Ben Decamp also pops in.

You can also reserve (VIP) two areas in Air Conditioned. One room in the back, just passed the bar, with stripper poll and seating for about 8 people and a recessed "living-room" type area with seating for about 15 people.

This is the third time in a month that I've forgotten to close my tab at a bar. If I have a drinking problem, AC Lounge's 2-for-1 specials on Patron will only serve to exacerbate this chronic condition. I will return, primarily out of necessity to pick up the enabler that affords me the cashflow to flood my liver with mind-bending toxins that'll inevitably induce the worst of the worst purgations in human history.
