air america may be a failure to some but it's been successful in my eyes. success is not measured just by a financial yardstick, it's measured by it's impact on the political discourse. mike malloy and randi rhodes may be renegedes, but they have made a difference.

I fully support Air America's mission as a voice to speak back ... conservative talk radio accounts for some 95% (guessing) of the market... its time to have another point of view on a talk radio network.
good job, air america, in a very short time! yes there are some quirks but they add to the charm in my view... -

I love Air America. There is nothing else like it on the radio and listening to them gives me the little hope I have remaining. My experience is that they are very accurate and engaging and I find it very entertaining if a bit depressing since there is so much crap going on with Bush and the world. Most of the hosts make me laugh in a good way.
My only complaint is they keep saying to support them through their advertisers, but I think the advertisers are slimy just like most radio ads. Get Rich Quick internet schemes, questionable cures, questionable credit card stuff and deceptive unreal "real estate" stuff. I think it undermines their message to let their advertisers try to swindle their listeners. -

Air America has pretty much failed as a commercial entity for one reason alone - it is just plain bad talk radio, artificially contrived as some form of counterpoint to predominantly conservative national talk radio. Rabid Bush-bashing alone does NOT make a good radio network - and this is coming from someone who is NOT a Republican, has never voted for Bush for anything, and fully disagrees with at least 50% of his policies. However, it would be nice to hear some rational thought processes with critical analysis, instead of a bunch of retread DJ's and comic hacks who are clearly afflicted with Bush Derangement Syndrome. I have heard more harsh, passionate, persuasive and well thought-out criticism of George Bush's policies on the local right-wing station KSFO than on any of AA's syndicated programs.
If you truly want a radio station with reasonably intelligent, engaging hosts with a left-of-center, anti-Bush point of view, listen to KGO. Both left-of-center KGO and right-of-center KSFO are far better at providing hosts with intelligent, engaging opinions (Ray T. on KGO being a notable exception) than this sorry excuse for a commercial radio network in a major market. -

I am CLEARLY biased, as my sister Rachel has a show on AAR weekdays. But having been to the studios and meeting the whole crew, I can attest that they are committed to getting the truth out there and exposing the bullshit right. Go sis!
