Aimee did a wonderful job for my hairdo & makeup for my recent wedding photo shoot on 5/3/2012 at Monterey Peninsula!
Two days before we meeting each other for the first time on 5/3, Aimee asked me to send her a photo of myself (with/without makeup), the desired hairstyle and makeup, as well as the outfits that I'm planning to wear on the day of photo shoot.
On the day of coverage, I wore a purple strapless dress to her studio which located in Milpitas. She applied the foundation using the airbrush technique which had created a truly flawless look. I was amazed when I saw myself in the mirror!
Based on my previous experiences with other makeup artists, I told Aimee to put more blush on the cheeks because it will fade away quickly throughout the day. I'm so glad that Aimee listened to my need :)
Aimee is also very talented in photography. She takes her own photo for her models. Hence, she knows what makeup will suit you and look good in the pictures!
I had a great and satisfied experience with Aimee for her professionalism and passion towards what she is doing. I would definitely recommend Aimee to my friends who are going to have their civil ceremony this year :D -

Aimee is amazing! I hired her to do my makeup and hair for my birthday extravaganza and I'm very pleased with her work! She is very knowledgeable about her artistry which made me feel confident that the result will turn out great! She knows exactly how to enhance the right features to really pop on camera. Looking at pictures from that night I'm really happy with everything! She also has a great uplifting and positive energy that really helps get you excited for the night! Aimee is hands-down an awesome makeup artist/hair stylist. She will make you look fabulous! She has years and years of talent and experience so she knows what she's doing! Aimee recently did my hair and makeup for a beauty shoot and she did such an amazing job! The makeup wasn't too cakey and it stayed on for a very long time! I even wore the look to my prom and everyone loved it! She is very sweet and kind, so I would most definitely recommend to contact her if you want your hair and makeup done for any kind of special occasion. She'll make you look fabulous! I just wanted to finally write a positive yelp review in support of Aimee Lam! My wedding was in May 2010 (I'm a huge procrastinator, but this is only my 2nd yelp review ever so that's gotta count for something!). I had 2 wedding celebrations, one in San Francisco, which Aimee did my hair and make-up for, and the other one in Chicago. When I look back at the photos, I felt that Aimee's work on my hair and makeup were hands-down and miles-away the better look than what I had in Chicago.
I loved what she did with my hair and makeup -- it was even better than the bridal make-up trial we did several months before. I do have to say, though, that unfortunately because of my stubbornly straight Asian hair that the beautiful waves she did for me did not hold up throughout the night. Regardless, I still think she did a fabulous job, and I loved the way I looked.
However, if I could, I would give Aimee 5 stars and I would give her artist co-helpers 3 stars only. I paid for myself as well as my mom and my 6 bridesmaids, so understandably Aimee would need help. She brought in 3 other women. Unfortunately, the other women were just so-so. My mom and 3 of my bridesmaids (who were my 3 sisters-in-law) did not like their hairstyling, and preferred the hair stylist in Chicago. I know that my mom and bridesmaids could have spoken up but I think that women who don't have a clear idea of what they would like (like my girls) would trust your hair stylist to find the best look for them -- and their esthetic should be right on.
So, while I highly recommend Aimee, I cannot say that her helpers are of the same caliber. Mind you, my other ladies looked nice...they just did not look super fabulous. Perhaps that's understandable: the bride should look the best, after all, but keep it in mind if you have a huge party of women to get made up for the big day.
Finally, I'd like to comment on Aimee's professionalism: she was absolutely delightful and kind throughout the process. I picked her also because she was responsive by email, which was my preferred way of contacting vendors. She was absolutely sweet and had a great artistic eye and knew what would look great. She listened very well to me and my ideas of what I wanted to look like and she delivered! The day of the wedding, she put me at ease, and getting ready and made up by her was definitely a lot of fun. Thank you, Aimee, for making my day super special and making me look great in my pictures! -

One Word: AMAZING!
My review is definitely long overdue! I got married in June 2010 and I have been just soo busy!! So finally, below is my review for Aimee :)
Homework:
I was really excited when I found Aimee on Yelp! I had trouble finding an artist that can do a great job on Asian faces and keeping it modern and fun at the same time.
I clicked on her website as soon as I read Aimee's reviews and was pleasantly surprised with beautiful before and after photos! I loved that her portfolio was categorized! It made it easy to browse through her work when the galleries are separated by hairstyles, bridal, beauty, and before and after.
Previous Experience:
I was a little anxious to set up a makeup trail with her, since it was almost February when I contacted her. I also had a very BAD experience with ANOTHER makeup and hair artist. It was partially my fault that I didn't know what I wanted, but I brought in pictures of styles I liked for the other artist to create a look for me. The other artist made me look as if I did the makeup myself, and my hair was a disaster.
Trail with Aimee:
Needless to say, I was crossing my fingers and hoping the best with Aimee. And YES it was! I really studied Aimee's portfolio and pointed out the hairstyles I liked and told her I wanted a smokey eye, but looking fresh and beautiful. I also brought some pictures of hairstyles with me so she had a sense of what my style was.
Aimee did a fabulous job, and I knew she was going to be my GAL! My hair was perfect, and and my makeup was flawless! I would highly recommend to make reservations at a restaurant, and go out on a nice date with your fiance after you are done with your trail. No Girl should let good hair and makeup to waste!
I also had some before and after pictures taken. You will be surprised what a bit of foundation and color can do. Her husband had a "photo room," so I felt like I was modeling and doing a photo shoot.
Great Personality & Professional:
Aimee was warm, friendly, and really professional for both my trail and wedding day. We instantly clicked, and I felt very comfortable with her. It was really important for me to find an artist that I can trust on my wedding day so I can just focus on myself on enjoying my happy day!
Pricing:
Her pricing is totally reasonable for her beautiful work and for the things she provides. I.E. False lashes, a flat payment for Airbrushing instead of charging a fee for airbrushing each individual, etc.

On the Wedding Day:
Aimee and her assistant showed up enthusiastic and on time! My mother, now mother-in-law, bridesmaids had their makeup and hair done before mine. My hair and makeup was the last to go, to keep it nice and fresh! Everyone loved their look for the wedding. Aimee and her assistant was very patient with us, and really seem to enjoy what they do! My photographer loved Aimee! He also complemented her on her work! My makeup and hair pretty much stayed on all day! Aimee gave me a few samples for the lip gloss to retouch throughout the day.
Verdict: AWESOME! Will definitely recommend her to friends and family.
Suggestions for future brides:
Do some research on the style you like and bring pictures with you
Bring pictures of wedding theme, color, etc
Take pictures of your dress
Do research on your makeup & hair artist's portfolio before trail

This review has been long overdue, but I just wanted to reiterate what everyone else would agree with me on and it is that Aimee Lam is amazing (:
I was first wowed by her when she did my older sisters wedding makeup. I myself did not get the honor of getting my makeup done by her, (the bride must look the best on her wedding day right? Aimee was a pro at making that happen!) but she made my sister look flawless, and I knew that I had to someday contact her and have her as my makeup artist!
Luckily I did not have to wait another ten years to ask her to do my makeup for my wedding (which I probably will!), but took prom as an opportunity to be amazed by her again. She was super sweet about the whole process, and after many email exchanges, prom day approached and I finally had my chance to be transformed by her!
I gave her a few ideas of what look I was going for, and with that she was able to bring in her own flair and made both my makeup and hair flawless. She was very conscientious and asked me how I felt about the makeup and hair throughout the whole process, and honestly, i LOVED it. There is nothing I would change about everything she did! I got so many compliments, and it did not look too overpowering in person, yet showed up well on film. Aimee Lam made my prom day an amazing experience. I can not ask for a better person to go to for hair, makeup, and just to feel reassured for the event (:

Aimee and her two assistants did an amazing job on myself, my mom and my four bridesmaids! They arrived bright and early and got to work quickly. I've never felt more beautiful than after I was done with hair and makeup with Aimee - which is exactly how a bride should feel on her wedding day!

Thank you Yelp for helping me find Aimee, and thank you Aimee for making me look better than I'll probably ever look again.
Aimee did my hair and makeup for my wedding and she was a joy to work with. She also did my bridesmaids makeup and my mother's hair.
During the trial, she listened to what I wanted and took the time make sure that my hair and makeup was how I wanted it. She was also fun to talk to, which is important because hair and makeup takes a long time!
On my wedding day, Aimee was calm and helpful and made everyone look beautiful! She also seems to be good at choosing the right makeup for different skin tones.
Her prices are reasonable, she was reliable and on time on my wedding day, and I was very pleased with my hair and makeup.

So guess what...
I model! And models need their makeup done for them. Haven't you seen Zoolander? We're just monkeys (cept me I'm a Panda)! (Damn FINE monkeys). I met Aimee during a shoot in San Jose, here's what happened:
The photo shoot...it was a japanese-style fight scene. Cool, huh? It would have been even more awesome if the damn makeup artist and hair stylist showed up. And they didn't. So Alex (the photographer) called Aimee--and to the rescue!!!!
She did such a wonderful job on the other model--I mean, really. Her hair was put up exactly the way they wanted it for the shoot, her makeup so well done. What is great about a damn good artist like that is just how gentle they are. She had a ton of makeup, hair supplies, and knew just what she was doing. She even put fake eyelashes on me for the shoot!! I've never worn fakes before, primarily because I'm a dumbass and would have screwed that shit up for REALS.
She is so unbelievably professional, and so cute! I can't wait for the next photo shoot :)
To even further convince you of just how good she is, I have her number stored into my phone for future shoots. And yes, there is such a thing as modeling with crappy makeup on. It's called "Jaime decides to do it herself".
Since she is a student, she doesn't charge exorberant prices, but she does just as well as the ones who do.
Now go ahead, thank me.

Aimee Lam has been so fun to work with! From the first day I met her to that fateful summer's day. It was bittersweet morning for me because while I was getting married, I knew this would be the last time I would get to work with Aimee.
When I first met her, there was an instant connection. And I just knew she had to be a part of my wedding. And through it all she kept her professionalism. This really showed when I was telling her what I liked and wanted during the trial, giving her feedback, but allowing her bring forth her own artistry. All she did was politely nodded and kept working professionally, as we talked about everything under the sun. The trial lasted a few hours, so we really did!
It wasn't until the very end that she said that she really liked what I chose and that she would've chosen those colors for herself as well. She had such a professional "poker face" that I know only came with experience.
The day of, she did a splendid job! I had two looks, one daytime, one evening with touch-up in the middle. Through all the chaos of the day, traveling everywhere, she worked and worked, still having the same professionalism along with great attitude from 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening.
The best thing is that she's passionate about what she does and she wants to better herself and this definitely shows from talking with her.
Sidenote: I love hearing her speak her native tongue. She speaks fluent English, but when she busted out her Vietnamese, it was pure poetry!
Truly a remarkable person to work with and be around! -

I think your response speaks to your lack of business communication skills. The fact that you can't accept an honest, albeit negative review, shows you're not willing to work on your weaknesses. You wrote me a long email right after I wrote my first review saying how you had many personal problems at that time, and that is understandable, but then to try to turn that around and blame the customer for your shortcomings makes me lose all respect for you.
And to address the things you said:
1. I knew EXACTLY what look I wanted, and tried many different ways to communicate my vision to you. I think that is part of the makeup artist's job to create the look from the vision, and you were not able to do that.
2. You charged me $150, AND I gave you $20 tip for the extra ONE hour past the THREE you said it would take, so that brings the total to $170, NOT $75. Be honest.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Not too long ago, Aimee and I got together and did a little something-something for her site.
This woman is BUSY, but she does a beautiful job on hair, makeup, and photography. She is a total sweetheart, and a perfectionist. I must say--this is one of the few times I've come out of a professional make-up session looking like a woman rather than a drag queen.
So, come to Aimee if you want a job well done. She listens to her clients and models, takes care of them, and really knows her stuff. She even got me a pearl milk tea from Fantasia! I might have to call her up when I'm getting married and need to look pretty.

I'm was looking for a Makeup artist for my wedding. I went to one trial prior to going to Aimee. The lady told me to bring in magazines for the look I wanted. I brought in the magazines, but the lady didn't even look at them well and she did my makeup quite quickly in 1/2 an hour and off I went.
So I went back on Yelp to look for someone else. Actually there are not that many makeup people on yelp. I found Aimee on yelp and she had a cool website, and good reviews. She quickly responded to all my emails even at 1am in the morning!
Went for the trial and Aimee was so nice an personable. She took the time to listen and understand the client. I was very happy with the look, not too overdone, which is what I wanted.
On my wedding day she showed up very promptly at 5:30am in the morning! Did a great job and was very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend her. My makeup for the pictures was not gaudy and over done, but just enough to make me look photogenic. -

I was looking for a local makeup artist who could give me professional makeup lessons because I'm clueless when it comes to applying makeup. I looked through the yelp reviews and decided to contact Aimee Lam after looking at her website and seeing that she offered group makeup classes as well as private ones. I contacted her regarding the group makeup class that was being offered, but she informed me that due to a lot of interest, she was going to do private lessons instead and asked if I would like to make an appointment with her. I decided to give it a shot, and I'm very pleased by my private makeup lesson with Aimee.
We conversed back and forth through email to find a good time and she answered my questions promptly regarding the scope of the class, the payment, and any other small questions I had. I had to make an initial payment to hold the time slot via Paypal, and the rest was to be paid in cash at the lesson.
On the day before the lesson, she emailed me to reschedule due to an issue with the location of the lesson. I agreed to reschedule for the following week. The lesson was located in a small boutique inside of a building that housed other various businesses.
The lesson was fairly thorough, and Aimee started with skin prep and foundation and worked her way through the brows/eyes, cheeks, and lips. She taught me how to shape my brows, curl my lashes, and even apply false eyelashes if I ever desired. She also gave me some handouts to take notes as we went along. She applied makeup to half of my face during the instruction, and she helped me apply the other half myself. She did a "daily" look, as well as a "night out" look. I'm pleased that she worked with my skin tone and type to create a look that was appropriate for my personality. I didn't want makeup that was too heavy and I didn't want to look like a teenager, and she was very cognizant of that without me having to mention it.
I found her to be very friendly, personable, and definitely experienced. If my wedding had been in the Bay Area I would probably have considered her for my wedding. I can't comment on her ability to do hair since I didn't have that done, but I would be willing to try if I needed that service.
In regards to the lesson, I wish that maybe the handouts would have been more filled in, because I was splitting my attention between writing things down and what she was saying, so I feel like I might have learned more had I been able to pay more attention to her instruction. I also wish I had brought a camera/video camera to take some photos or video during the process, but I guess that will have to wait for another time. In addition, the lesson was supposed to last around 2.5 hours, but it ended up being a little longer, and I was charged for that. I think I would rather have had the cost reflect the lesson in its entirety, no matter how long it ended up being, but I also understand that people might drag it on and that's also not fair.

Uh what?! That Theresa K. woman is bonkers. I don't even think Aimee spent 5 hours on ME for my makeup trial. Her review is NOT USEFUL AT ALL, because I used Aimee for the makeup and hair trial, for my wedding day (me and 3 bridesmaids and mom), and also follow-up after the wedding. What do I mean in follow-up? I mean, she wanted to know how the makeup and hair held up after the wedding day. And, I asked her about different types of foundation for my sensitive skin and she thoroughly listed various types of products for my skin type. I got professional advice for foundation! No, I've asked Sephora ladies and my neurotic beauty pageant sister for foundation advice and I found Aimee to be the most helpful. And all those ladies at any of those makeup counters? They know NOTHING! They all say that their powder foundation is "so gentle" for sensitive skin, and then I find huge red blotchy itchy spots all over my face in one hour! No no no. Aimee knows her stuff and she's great at her job.
Everything about Aimee was completely professional and punctual.
I am NOT easy to please at all. My husband swears that I'm the most difficult person to deal with in everything, but he still married me for some reason. My husband claims that of all the crazy Korean women he's known, I (a Chinese woman) am by far the scariest woman he's ever met. And, I don't like wearing makeup AT ALL, especially because most products cause me rashes (except for the products that Aimee used). Both times Aimee applied makeup onto my face (makeup trial and wedding day), I was amazed how she was able to do a masterpiece while not pulling on my skin at all. And, my face didn't feel itchy AT ALL for my entire 10am to 2am wedding day. COUNT THEM HOURS! That is 16 hours of AIMEE'S MAKEUP AND HAIR. That SOMEHOW caused me no problems. I simply CANNOT expect anyone else to do a better than that.
I'm not loyal unless my expectations are dramatically blown away. And my expectations with Aimee were BLOWN AWAY.

I've had the opportunity to hire Aimee to do hair/makeup for a recent family event. I contacted her and heard back promptly. Once I got her price quote and availability, I decided to book her accordingly to the raves on Yelp.
She did not disappoint. During the planning process, her email correspondence had short turnaround time. She even asked for a photo prior so that she can see what kind of skin tone I have to pack accordingly. Though she does charge for travel fee, I had no problem paying for it since gas prices are ridiculously high these days and it is reasonable for her to ask for some compensation.
On the day of the event, she got her according to the appointment time and brought everything that she needed. We set up shop and quickly went to work. She asked to see the dress I was planning on wearing and suggested the type of look accordingly. However, she was also *very* attentive to my needs, concerns, and desire for a certain look. At one point, we even brought out some fashion magazines just to get a visual. Throughout the process, she was very attentive to how I felt about the makeup and colors. And ultimately, when I had changed my mind about my hairstyle, she happily obliged and quickly changed the hair.
I think Aimee is perfect for anyone who is looking for great service, fantastic makeup skills, and personality. Her prices are so reasonable that I don't think you can go wrong. -

As a professional model, I know a thing or two about makeup artists - some suck, and some are fantastic. Aimee definitely falls into the "fantastic" category. Before I even had the pleasure of working with her, I had heard countless rave reviews about her work from photographers and other models. Apparently, everyone in the biz knows her (she's kind of a big deal).
I recently had the opportunity to work with Aimee, and I can honestly say that all of the rave reviews and compliments are 100% true. We did three different looks (both hair and makeup): two bridal looks and one fashion. The hair and makeup for each look was incredible; I was truly impressed by her artistry, creativity and talent. As a model, I have worked with countless hairstylists and makeup artists, and I can easily say that Aimee is one of the best in the business. And on a side note, Aimee is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met!
Now, whenever I'm planning a shoot and a photographer asks me to recommend makeup artists, Aimee is the first person I mention. On top of that, I already told her that she's definitely doing my makeup when I get married (whenever that may be, hahaha)! I cannot stress it enough: Aimee is THE BEST!! -

I don't mean to copy others, but Aimee really is that great! I was really fortunate to have Aimee be back from her travels, just in time to have my makeup and hair, along with the whole bridal party's makeup done by her.
Aimee is really a great person to work with. She's calm and engaging. She offers helpful recommendations and ideas, which was more than helpful to me since I went into the trial clueless. (Even after all the magazines, I still had no idea what I really wanted).
Looking for a great makeup and hair artist for a wedding is really hard because you do want to look that fabulous in front of all your friends and family, and for all the pictures you paid $$$$ for. To make things harder, I wanted a makeup artist who is familiar with Asian skin/faces and can make us look smashing without making us look like overdone circus artists or pale and bloodless. I knew Aimee wouldn't have a problem with this. She was the artist for my friend at her wedding, and after seeing what a great job she did for my friend, I asked Aimee too.
Other positives: Aimee and her assistant were on time. Aimee did all the makeup and my hair. Her assistant did the bridal party's hair. With 4 of us total, it took ~4.5 hours--not bad especially considering that they may have been distracted with my friends' prewedding partying and interesting conversations.
Her price may seem pricier, but it really is worth it! She's a great person to work with--very easy going. She has great ideas to offer too. I definitely recommend her! -

I honestly a type of person who doesnt like to be makeup-ed by an artist unless i know him/her very well. I dont trust ppl makeup me & I was worried too much, too, about being allergic to the products theyre using.
But fate brought me to Aimee & everything I was worried abt has vanished when I did the trial. I didnt think twice to put deposit down & booked her for my wedding.
She did a great job. I never felt so pleased abt makeup before, but with Aimee's makeup Im so happy with it. It doesnt matter what kinda makeup/look i want, but more importantly she knows how to make me look good in person & photos; cos sometimes when u say u want to look natural but u ended up look pale in photos becos u dont want to have too much makeup. Aimee knows how to make me (and you of cos) look "natural" both in photos & in person without feels of having too much makeup.
She's fun, sweet & kind person, very on time & professional. Its worth it every penny.
My husband loves it, everybody loves it, even my photographer she says my hair looked thousands times better than the bride in her last wedding shot.

Of all my wedding vendors, I give all my 5 stars to Aimee. She absolutely delivered and even went beyond expectations from the two trials I had with her. I had 2 trials, because my hair is short, and I had my trial with her, 3 months before the wedding. We tried an faux updo look and it didnt work out. Although the make up was AMAZING. I slept on it all night and went out with it the next day, and my make up was pretty much untouched!!! This gave me such peace of mind. Second trial was for hair, 3-4 days before the wedding. I just needed that 2nd trial to ease my mind. We figured out how to best work with my chin length hair but I still couldn't quite picture how the final look would 'look' - it was the way my hair was curling etc.
But on the day of the wedding - Aimee went straight to business with hair and make up, and I was speechless! Make up was exactly like what i wanted - had enough to conceal everything necessary, but had the look of natural beauty to it. And my hair was amazing! I liked it even better than the pictures I was showing to her. It had a classic sculpted look - very elegant!
I should also add, Aimee and her assistant made my mom feel so special that day. My mom does not wear make up or do her hair in any way or fashion, but on that day, my mom was admiring herself every chance she got! She insisted that she did not need to be worked on, but I told her, she needs to look just as beautiful as the bride! My mom got so many compliments. Her make up and hair was so age appropriate - I was worried colors would be off, hair style would be princess like - but Aimee and her assistant are such experienced professionals, even with minimal instruction knew what to do!
Aimee - if you're reading this, we all love your work and attention to detail and intuitive instinct!! Thank you for making our day so memorable! -

I've seen Aimee in action. She rocks! She takes her time and beleive me the end result is worth the wait. She has worked with a fellow photographer, Steve Smith, and he too has nothing but great things to say about her.
I can't wait to have her do make up for one of my shoots!! Then I am sure I will come back and bump this review to 5 stars as I will have first hand experience.

WEDDING/BRIDAL MAKEUP - Wedding was on 9/20/08
I did several makeup trials with counter people at department stores (Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown) and they were okay, but there's one thing you have to remember -- counter artists are there to sell makeup, so the things they do, even when very good, are not targeted towards bridal makeup, which requires different skills -- how to have makeup that looks good from day to night, indoors/outdoors, complementing certain colors/dress styles, good in pictures, good in person, etc. etc. That's not to say that someone who works at a counter doesn't do good bridal makeup, but I would venture to say that it will be VERY difficult for you to find someone who is. Because otherwise, why would they bother with the counter?
I also did a hair/makeup trial with Jira's assistant from WowPretty (also on Yelp -- I would recommend Jira but not her assistant; Jira was not available the day of my wedding however).
Now onto Aimee, who was recommended to me by Christine Nguyen, another hair/makeup artist who was unavailable. Aimee was fabulous.
I did do a trial, which you definitely need to do, and yes, I know you have to pay for it, but trust me, it's worth it. I didn't want to at first either, which is why I was going to the counters, but with the chaos of your wedding day, you don't want to waste any time figuring things out about how you want to look when you could've taken care of that at the trial.
The makeup she got right immediately. I can tell that's where her expertise is. The hair took a few tries but eventually came out perfect. The day of the wedding, the hair did require a little more work, but again, still came out better than I would've imagined.
Aimee and her assistant Demi (who did all my bridesmaids hair) did 8 of us, full hair/makeup, in about 6 hours and boy , was it worth the price. My bridal party was gorgeous -- absolutely stunning. I received a ton of compliments on them (and myself since I was the bride).
I think the best thing about Aimee is that she will work with you. She will fix things you don't like, help you find the perfect style, all with infinite patience and kindness. She really, really wants you to look good on your special day and I am so happy that I went with her.Listed in: Wedding Vendors

All of my makeup and hair needs are covered for my upcoming wedding now that I've met and had my makeup consultation with Aimee. Aimee is an outstanding makeup artist and person. Because I have a certain skin condition I am always a little nervous about makeup. But I know that I am in good hands with Aimee. She is a master of makeup artistry! She is very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She does an amazing job of listening to her clients and achieving their desired look. I say this without reservations because I have sat through four bridal hair and makeup consultations, and no one compares to Aimee!!
Also, I have very naturally curly hair, and I was very impressed with what Aimee did with my hair. She is great at giving you a look that is complementary to your features and overall look. -

Aimee is a soft-spoken, wisp of a woman that in some circumstances wouldn't command much attention, but beneath the unassuming exterior lies a treasure trove of talent and confidence derived not from ego, but from experience.
I met Aimee while she was doing the makeup for a bride this past weekend at Santana Row (I was the photographer). There was a point where the bride said she didn't want to do any airbrushing, but Aimee politely insisted that it was the right thing to do - without hesitating she gently, but firmly guided the bride to what she knew would be best, basically putting her reputation on the line. Of course she made the right call, but her quiet confidence in that moment made me realize this diminutive woman was a true professional.
I look forward to working with Aimee in the future, and won't hesitate to recommend her services to my brides.

Aimee is the sweetest person you'll ever meet! She's down to earth and friendly. A makeup artist myself, I've actually taken a few classes with her before. She is very knowledgeable with what she does and I've learned a lot of things from her. I'm glad to have taken her classes as they have really helped me in improving my skills. She was patient and kind. I know that she has many happy and satisfied clients and no doubt she will be getting more in the future! I've seen her work both in photos and in person and they all looked AMAZING and breathtaking, if that's the look you'd like to go for, I would definitely recommend going to Aimee!!

I can't say enough nice things about Aimee. I felt beautiful on my wedding day! Aimee worked on me, while her two assistants worked on my four bridesmaids and my mother. I felt my wedding party looked amazing. I had an updo and it did not move, not even while I was dancing, and it looked amazing all day/night!
Aimee was a real pleasure to work with. I would use her again, for any formal makeup/hairstyles I would need in the future.

I am so glad that I was able to have Aimee to do my bridal make-up & hair. I went to three other make-up trials with other artists before but she definitely was the best fit for me and exactly the type of make-up artist I was looking for: organized, patient and technically skilled in their field.
I usually feel like people pile on make-up on my face but she made it very natural but still look good for the photos. I noticed that she thinks very thoroughly for my wedding day. For example, she asked to see my photographers' website so she can see how their lighting technique would affect the make-up. My photographers liked to take bright photos so she made my make-up a little darker and it came out perfect in our wedding photos. She also asked to see a rough timeline so she can stay on time. For the trials, she took her own photos and sent them to me promptly. She was also thoughtful by recommending ways to keep my face fresh before the wedding. These were just a few things she did that really made her a great person to work with.
After my mom saw her trial work on me, she asked me if Aimee was able to do her make-up as well! Aimee did a wonderful job on my mom and myself.
On the day of my wedding, she came a little earlier than the start time to set up right away, which I appreciated. She was patient and made me feel comfortable the whole time through. The best thing I liked about Aimee is that I could totally trust her work. I didn't have to worry anything related to my hair or make-up for my wedding day. Other vendors I had to follow-up with or ask my coordinator to check on them.
Overall, Aimee is really sweet and very talented with hair and make-up. Hands down, I recommend her to any bride searching for a make-up artist. Not only is she excellent, you can count on her to make you look beautiful on your big day. -

AIMEE LAM IS THE BEST MAKEUP ARTIST! I can't believe how good she makes me look. My friend booked her for her wedding and I was one of the bridesmaids. She does a great job with makeup on Asian faces (eyes can be tough for some.) Her hair assistant Demi is ok but I think Aimee does a superior job.
Not only is Aimee great at her job but she has a heart of gold. Would totally use her again for future events! I've even referred girlfriends to her already. -

Aimee did the hair and makeup for myself (the bride), 3 of my bridesmaids and the 2 mothers. Everyone was extremely happy with the results.
She actually had an assistant do the hair for the other girls and we loved the results as well! Nobody came in with any idea what they wanted done (hair or makeup) and they worked with us to create a cohesive look for all the girls that we all loved.
I got my trial done in March for my September wedding and she reliably documented what she did with photographs and notes and 6 months later was able to recreate it all perfectly. She was extremely responsive and caring about any changes we wanted and accomodated my multiple emails throughout the six months prior.
Thanks for making me look beautiful and creating a look that lasted the entire long long day through heat and sweat and several meals. I forgot to pack any touch up powder (left in the hotel!) so I didn't even touch up the entire day and it looked good, so I was very happy. -

This review is WAY overdue! Aimee is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!
I booked Aimee last month (March 2010) for a ceremony/event we were holding. I am not from the Bay Area, so I had absolutely NO connections or ideas on finding the perfect make-up and hair artist. Fortunately, I was able to find Aimee on yelp and http://projectwedding.com. Thank god!
I looked through reviews and they were great! Still, since I am a what most people call a 'perfectionist' I was skeptical :/ Also, I was not able to fit in a trial, so everything was up in the air until the day of the event! Wait, it gets worse...I was out of the country for awhile, and so was Aimee...therefore we had not even met in person until the day of!!!! Surprisingly, Aimee was great at keeping in touch with me via email all throughout. We exchanged questions, preferences, inspiration pictures, a picture of me, etc. She did not respond when she was out of town...BUT that did not matter!!! She made sure that all my questions and worries were answered before I came to California.
The day of, she was a sweetheart. Her office is brand new and still in the works, but my friends and I had a great time with her. She kept the atmosphere calm and relaxing. It felt like we were all just hanging out at home. She listened to me and my friends, and did a look that everyone was pleased with. We tried one look, and if I didn't like it, we tried something else. It really showed how much she cared about her customers and her work.
In all, Aimee is incredible! If she was a superhero, she'd be the hulk... cuz she's INCREDIBLE. She was very professional, and took her time. Very knowledgeable, sweet, kind and patient. You can tell by the quality of her work that she enjoys and loves what she does. -

Aimee is a wonderful teacher - she knows makeup inside and out, and she makes it all seem easy...even when it's not! I came to Aimee with almost no makeup skills at all - and I can now easily recreate the looks Aimee developed specifically for me. I highly recommend taking a class with Aimee.

I didn't have Aimee do my makeup or even a trial session. But I did interact with her over email. She was initially very responsive, but then I don't know what happened. We were in the middle of email exchanges in trying to set up a trial makeup and hair appt, but then i didn't get an email from her for a week. It turns out she let someone paypal her a deposit for the same wedding date, so she was no longer available. she apologized and thought she sent me an email about this and gave me referrals, but I wasn't impressed.

Loved Aimee & her fabulous wedding hair and makeup work. She was very accommodating and responsive -- answering endless inane questions from the bride (can I not have fake eyelashes like Tammy Faye Baker?). She works magic and makes it look easy. Not only is she a genuinely nice person, she knows what she's doing, is reassuring, and solves problems (quick, can you spray paint -- I mean, airbrush -- the bridesmaid?). I got many compliments for my hair & makeup that day (even by other makeup artists). She truly made me into a lovely bride with beautiful, natural, and soft looking hair and makeup. Oh, Aimee, if only you could do my makeup and hair every day!

Aimee was the makeup artists for my wedding. Before I found her, I searched for many websites and did a I trial with another lady as well. Unfortunately, her work didn't meet my expectations. Well, actually, I was so disappointed that I was thinking of just doing the makeup by myself.
I cannot express how LUCKY I was to find Aimee at that time, which is ONLY two weeks before my wedding. She made me so pretty that all my friends kept on telling me how gorgeous I was on my wedding day, which made me very very happy~ ^_^
I really appreciate her patience during the entire time. Although I don't think this, :-P, my friends always tell I am a somewhat picky person. But Aimee had spent so much efforts and time on my looks and hair on both trial and wedding day, there is nothing for me to be picky about. And her attitude is so great that she will make you feel very special.
Overall, I'm satisfied with her work. I'd recommend her work to all my friends in future.

I worked w/ Aimee last summer and it was a great experience. She's very easy to work with and has a good eye when it comes to make-up. She can get very creative, which makes her so fun to work with. Oh, and she's also super sweet! I highly recommend Aimee. :)

Okie, to start out, my name is Tram and I love Aimee!
Aimee is amazing! I think one of the right decisions I make in my life is to choose her as my makeup artist for prom. She had a big part in making prom the best night of my life. Aimee spent so much time getting to know me, what are my tastes, what looks do I like, etc. On that day, she did my makeup so carefully to make sure I look my best, and I did! Not to brag, but I am so confident that I looked better than all the girls there. I received compliment from everyone, and my boyfriend was mesmerized (lol). He cannot stop saying, "Wow, you look great!" and "I think you look the best in here."
Alright, enough about me. As a makeup artist, I respect Aimee so much. She is more like a sister than a artist trying to get money out of me. Additionally, if you notice, you will see that she is so sanitized. She washes her brush, wipes off lip liner, and even uses different mascara brushes. Clearly she does not need advertisement, but I want to write this to thank her and for the girls out there who will have a special night. Book her, trust me, you will not regret it. She made my prom night the best night of my life, and hopefully she can bring the joy to all the girls out there as well.

aimee is a gem, found by us on yelp (thx, yelp!) she is a tiny slip of a woman, but has formidable skill with those brushes of hers. she did hair and makeup (with an assistant, also excellent) for my sister's wedding, and she managed to create for each of us exactly what we had pictured in our mind's eyes. in that we all looked like ourselves, still, but 1000% better -- I mean, we were HAWT.
totally professional, sweet, funny, a magician with the brushes AND beautiful, to boot.
