Review from J D.
Woodside, NY
I am ecstatic that I didn't listen to my husband when he told me not to buy a LivingSocial coupon for Aigner Chocolates.
"How are you gonna eat $20 of chocolate??" He asked??
EASY when it's EXCELLENT.
For a $10 coupon I got a $20 value. I bought truffles made especially for Easter, as well as a half pound mix of milk chocolate caramels, honeycomb (similar to the Cadbury 'Crunchie' bar if you've ever eaten that) as well as...wait for it...CHOCOLATE COVERED POTATO CHIPS. I had one serious and deep foodgasm after tasting that!
I spent closer to $30 worth of chocolate but I have no remorse whatsoever. They make everything, including their jelly beans. Their website doesn't adequately demonstrate how charming this place is - you just have to go there. Distressed shelves and tables covered with candy, and a display case that will make you want to buy everything.
To get there I think you can take the Q53 along Woodhaven Blvd. and then walk a couple blocks along Metropolitan Ave. It's a bit on the winding path route but worth it. Grab your chocolate, step outside and enjoy the Tudor style residential architecture nearby.
I will definitely come back and stock up for Easter. Thanks Aigner Chocolates for showing me how good candy can be. A true neighborhood gem. -

A Candyland for adults and kids alike! This cozy little confectionary nook is warm and welcoming, with personal service, right down to the choice of box or bag, gift wrap or not. Wooden shelves are brimming with foil wrapped chocolates, children's books, gifts, bags and boxes of endless confections. You'll feel like Willie Wonka in the chocolate factory.
The chocolate is to die for. It's the best I've ever had. Not sickeningly sweet or rich. Just perfect. My favorites are the dark chocolate coated orange rinds and the homemade peanutbutter cups, which come in milk, dark, and white chocolate. Everything here is exceptional and it's always fresh. A treat from Aigner's is the perfect hostess gift. -

Simply exceptional chocolates. The family has been making chocolates in the old-world style for decades. There are a few must try's for the uninitiated:
-Butter Toffee Crunch (the best I have tasted and I have searched for a better product...it doesn't exist)
-The marzipan is homemade in small batches. For the folks that think they don't like marzipan, please give theirs a try, then make your claim. It is elegant. Marzipan truffles are my go to.
-I think they are still making bark? they were when I was in the Queens store last and its some of my favorite; Pure chocolate expression with some cashew/almond highlights.
-Dark chocolate covered pretzels
A trip to this store is special too. When you walk in the charm and attention to detail is apparent. Its what you might imagine Candy Land to look like. If you can't make it the website is very easy to use. -

While I will always know this place as Kraus's Candy Kitchen (as will other people from the area who grew up with them).
Aigner Chocolates has been a family owned place for years, making homemade chocolates, candy fruit slices and other chocolate products.
During holidays, mainly Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas etc. You won't find special chocolates for Birchat Hachamah, but any day you go in, the pleasant aroma of chocolate will greet you, and the delicious tastes of white, dark, and regular chocolate await.
Prices are not bad, and it's the only one in the area.
Metered parking on the street and residential parking adjacent to shop. -

The things I said in my previous review still stand, but I have noticed on recent visits that the chocolate tastes even better now. I am addicted! Especially to the nonpareils....

If you don't want chocolate which may have been siiting around for months, then this is the place to go. They make their chocolates in the back and it tastes so good. They sell them by the pound and also as prepackaged gift boxes. This shop also has other types of candies which are reminiscent of the old days. They have a small selection of quaint toys such as wooden puzzles, tops, jacks, pick-up-sticks. It's fun to just walk in and take a look. But, I always end up getting a little almond bark made with dark chocolate! So, now you know what one of my weaknesses is.

This is one of the best chocolate stores ever ! I've been going there since I was a kid when it was on Myrtle avenue. This is where my family would buy chocolate for every holiday and special occasion. Thank you for being so great !
