AIDA SPA IS MOVING UPDATE!!! This will be the new location as of May 17, 2012

The new location is gorgeous, larger client rooms, larger waiting ares, and even more private with its own entrance. It is located on the Second Floor right above the "Wine Shop". Also there is free parking right around the corner, a very short walk on Payne Street, (Don't we all Love our free parking!!) Make Sure you spread the word.
As a customer for 2 years I am so excited for Aida Spa and I truly Love Aida. She is a sweetheart and like a mother to her clients. She truly cares about her Clients and she takes her business with Heart. Aida is the best of the best and Like I stated before I will go to her to keep these hairs off (lol!) Newbie here! I had an appointment yesterday afternoon with Aida for my first Brazilian and it was an interesting experience...in a good way!
Parking was not an issue and the location was easy to find.
She was very nice and made me feel comfortable by making small talk with me. I needed something to distract me from what was actually taking place. The entire process took maybe 20 minutes and honestly, I didn't even know she started! There were probably one or two spots where I actually cussed out loud, but laughter followed =) She leaves no wax residue which some places can be really careless about. I had no swelling, no irritation (I did take two Advil 30 minutes before my appointment).
When I got home I went to investigate to see if she really did get all the strays that could have been missed...nope...nothing. Bare as a babies bottom and smooth as silk ladies! I'll definitely make this a routine.
If you are a first timer, take a risk! Aida is definitely worth the money. Oh! And she books about a week in advance, so make sure you grow it out pretty well so she can make you look zestfully clean =) -

I am another first timer. And as others have said, Aida is very friendly, straightforward, and knowledgeable. I came in the weekend before Valentine's Day for a brazilian wax with the hair a bit shorter than she likes so she advised I wait a month before returning again. She did me anyway and I was very pleased with the results. She got me out of there as quick as possible and started me on time. The sugar and honey wax left me feeling very soft, after the soreness wore off. The experience itself was excruciatingly painful (because my hair was short and it was the first time) but Aida made me feel very comfortable. She joked with me and tried to hold a conversation to keep me relaxed. It was very affordable as well. I do not know if I can go back every month (because of the pain) but when I go again, it will definitely be to Aida. She also assured me that the more you get it done, the thinner your hair grows in and the less painful it is.
She works by appointment only but works hard to try and fit you in. -

Another update for posterity: I've been going to Aida now for almost 2 years and still love her and her services. Also, according to Aida and Pri J., she's moving to a new location on King Street. I'm so excited for her, and really excited to visit the new location one time before moving! If you haven't tried Aida yet, get on her schedule. She is amazing.

I cannot recommend Aida highly enough. She will put you at ease, even as she works on some of your most, er, 'sensitive' parts. I'm by no means a Brazilian newbie, but prior to heading to Aida's, I had only been to places using the usual hot wax. Aida's sugaring method is SO much less painful than what I've experienced in the past. I now see hot wax as being somewhat barbaric. It is relentless on your skin and can leave you quite raw. Sugaring is by no means painless, but if you've ever had a hot wax, you WILL notice the difference.

Great Brazilian Wax!! I'd consider myself a somewhat seasoned brazilian waxee, getting regular waxes in NYC, LA and now DC- she's one of the best! I've had regular wax with strips and hard wax in the past but her method is a whole new breed- basically a big pliable wax ball that she stretches and smears on you, rips the hair out, remolds and re-smears on you over and over again until it's spent- then she throws it out, washes her hands, and repeats until you're bare- she never reenters the wax pot with anything but her own clean hands. The wax job itself is very...errrm..."comprehensive", no strays left behind, and little to no ingrowns later on which has been a big problem for me in the past. She's fast, friendly, and thorough- what more could you want??
Pros: price is on par for the area, clean and no chance of getting other people's cooties, easy to park, very friendly and understanding( I was late one time because I was new to the area and got lost and she was completely nice about it, no guilt trip), and a great wax
Cons: Contrary to many other reviews, I actually find her method MORE painful than a lot of other waxes I've had in the past- I get them frequently enough that at other places, it's more discomfort than actual pain, but with her, it felt like the very first time- but she's nice and talks you through it. I'm also a huge fan of last-minute appointments and walk-ins, but Aida doesn't work like that- plan to plan ahead..but she's worth it! -

I never write reviews but I have to say Aida is amazing!!! I've gotten Brazilians at a few other places and this was SO much less painful! The process is really easy and honestly for me about the same pain level as I have getting my eyebrows waxed. I am now a sugaring convert! She is a sweetheart too, so nice!

I've been going to Aida since I moved to the area in June and I can say that I can't see myself ever going anywhere else for a Brazilian. Her method is so different than what I've had in the past, but it results in the best wax I've had.
She makes you completely comfortable during the process and doesn't waste any time. I've never been in there longer than 15 or so minutes and always come out with great results....most importantly without any wax residue for hours. My skin is a little sensitive so I still get a little redness and irritation (I use Bliss Ingrown Eliminating Pads too), but it has noticeably become less and less each time.
I haven't had any issues making appointments with her, even as soon as a week in advance. Definitely check her out! -

Like others has said, Aida is welcoming, warm, has a great sense of humor, and makes you about as comfortable as you can be while someone is ripping hair off your body.
That being said, I'm not super impressed with my first experience there on the whole.
First, she asked twice whether I was there for a full Brazilian (clearly her specialty), and I said no, just a regular bikini wax. But when she got started, it was clear she had forgotten I only wanted a regular bikini wax, and it was quite suddenly too late to go back, if you know what I mean.
Others have claimed her proprietary wax is gentler than other waxes they've had, but I have to tell you, Red Door's wax is far more gentle, and the results were much more lasting. Once my hair started growing back after Aida's wax (which started less than a week later than my wax) I had dozens and dozens of ingrown hairs, which I never experienced with Red Door's wax.
Not to mention, I felt and looked like a six-year-old girl. Blech. Sorry, but seriously, at least a little landing strip would have been nice.
Think I'll stick with Red Door. -

Today, I got my first Brazilian waxing at Aida Spa and had an awesome experience. After researching for the best place to go for ages and reading all the reviews, Aida Spa was my top choice. I enjoyed meeting her. She certainly made me feel very comfortable and put me at ease as I had no threshold for pain.
Aida used a sugar and honey based waxing. It is a Mediterranean old recipe where she warms in her palms until it is as pliable as Taffy, then she applies it in deft rolling strokes on the specific area. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. Voila - happy!
I don't have any other spas to compare my experience in Brazilian waxing. However, I know for sure I will not go anywhere else but Aida Spa.
She has A LOT of clients. I didn't have a problem making a reservation as I made one two weeks in advance. I have seen her calendar and I highly recommend that you call more than one week in advance. She is also very accommodating! -

Let's face it - waxing, especially a Brazil is going to be a little painful and awkward! From the second I walked in I felt very comfortable with Aida. She talked me through everything (her wax, what she was doing, etc). I found her to be really calming and as comfortable as I could be given the situation. I can safely safe I will not be going anywhere else.
The wax is different and certainly less painful than hot wax. NO sticky residue or clean up after and NO red bumps or irritation the next day! WIN!
I would recommend Aida to anyone - hands down! She books up fast - so book in advance! -

Aida is absolutely amazing! She's wonderfully sweet and makes you feel very comfortable. She makes her own wax and I feel like it hurts a little more than the typical hot wax, but it's completely worth it. I have found that she does book up early so I recommend booking her in advance, particulary if your schedule availability is limited.

When it comes to waxing, Aida is amazing! I don't have a lot of comparisons, but I have had a traditional hot bikini wax at a large, chain spa, and the experience with Aida is far superior. First, she does not use hot wax for the bikini area, she uses her own sugar-based formula, so you don't have the pain of hot wax down there! Also, this helps the process go much faster, you don't have to wait for the hot wax to cool before ripping off the strip. The sugar-based wax does not irritate your skin like the hot wax does. Aida forms the wax into a ball, smooths it on and then quickly removes.
Another major difference is that at the large, chain spa they made me put on a paper, thong-type undergarment that the esthetician moved strategically around to get everything down there. Aida is certainly not modest about doing a bikini wax, and does not use the above mentioned paper thong. Aida is completely comfortable with what she is doing and makes you feel comfortable too. It may sound a little strange, but I see her as having a motherly demeanor.
This is a small business that Aida predominately runs by herself, so she does have a lot going on at anytime, but her services are the best, no wonder she is so busy! Aida does prefer cash or check, but will accept cards. She is usually booked at least 1 week in advance, and sometimes 2 weeks, so make sure you call to make an appointment in advance. -

I went to see Aida after reading the amazing reviews right here on Yelp and I have to agree with everything everyone else said.
This was my very first Brazilian and I was terrified, to say the least.
Aida accommodated me on super short notice, like I called at 10am and she saw me that same day at 3:45.
I immediately felt like I knew her my whole life, she made me so comfortable. After having kids, you lose a little of your shyness when it comes to your lady bits, but this is still something *pretty* personal lol. But I never really thought about it to be honest, she's so professional and sweet and just talks to you the whole time.
I was expecting excruciating pain, and while it certainly didn't tickle - it was no where near what I thought it would be. And it was quick, like 10 minutes.
I can never say the words that fir the experience, but if you're looking for a great experience where it should be torturous and terrifying - Aida is your gal! -

AMAZING experience!! Ok, so this was my first ever Brazilian and I am 39 weeks and 3 days preggers!! Aida is AMAZING!!!
Her location is SUPER easy to find and there was plenty of metered parking. I paid like 2 bucks for an hour and had almost 45 mins left!
As I was walking in another client was leaving. Her office is super "intimate" and she does an excellent job of scheduling clients to ensure everyone's privacy.
I expressed my concerns err fear and Aida was so gentle. She talked to me the entire time and at one point I forgot I was acutally getting waxed!! When she saw that I was getting a little anxious she let me take a little break and then continued working.
She doesnt use typical wax and strips as it felt like a soothing clay mask for my yoni, until obviously the hair was removed (sorry for the TMI) I will def be back for another trip to Brazil and to indulge myself in her other spa treatments!!
You have to go, trust you will be pleased!!! Oh also, she prefers cash or check as payment. -

I just moved here after living in San Francisco for 10 years so I was anxious to find a new waxing lady. Aida is a lovely woman and knows what she is doing. I will return but here are a few things you should know.
1 yes - she uses a different type of wax - but that is only half of it - she uses a different technique where she rolls the wax with her fingers up and down on your skin and scrapes it off in a rolling motion. it sounds weird and it does feel weird at first as it is pulling out the hair in multiple directions. but somehow it doesn't hurt as bad - though the sensation is unique. end of the day someone pulling out your hairs in your girlie bits hurts. but i have no redness today so that is fabulous!
2 there is no privacy in her office from a noise perspective - yes she has partitions but you can hear everything - which I didn't know and was quite embarrassed to see 3 women waiting for me when i exited.
3 she really encourages you to do a full brazilian. i have had many before and i don't need to go the full monty yet she pretty much told me i had to! so if you don't want a brazilian, be clear with her.
$55 for a brazilian - $20 for a brow. -

So happy, so happy with my visit to Aida! I too had the brazilian done and I was incredibly satisfied with how clean and efficient it was. I don't know what she did, my entire visit was painless. Yes, that's right, painless. This is definitely a perfect place for all the girly needs. Their website is also another plus, very informative, very impressive.
Aida is the best. Pricing is so reasonable that wont break the bank.
Overall, this place really does deserves a five star rating. Try this place and you wont regret. -

After reading all the great reviews on here, I decided to make an appointment for a full leg wax - my first ever. I showed up a few minutes late because I had trouble finding parking - but she was still busy with a previous appointment, so it was okay. I'd say my appointment started 15 mins later than scheduled.
As previous reviewers posted, there is not much privacy in this salon, so you can hear any conversations going on if you are sitting waiting. Also, Aida is the only person who works here, so she stops what she is doing to answer the phone, greet customers, etc...
As for the waxing itself, I was disappointed. It hurt, A LOT (no big surprise there). She first went over my legs with regular wax, then did a "polishing wax" with her own formula. When I called to make the appointment, she said "the longer the leg hair, the better", so I grew it out for two weeks prior (eek! needless to say I didn't wear shorts). I'm not sure if it was too long or what, but when I got home I noticed there was still hair. It had not been pulled from my leg, it had only been broken off! I ended up having to shave anyway after all that pain! After paying almost $100 and seeing such poor results, I can't ever see myself going back. This was my first wax, so I Googled things first to find out if these were good results or not - def not!!
Aida herself is very friendly and holds a good conversation throughout the process to keep your mind off the pain, so I am really disappointed I won't be returning.
Also, she prefers cash. I went across the street after my waxing to get money out of the ATM so she didn't have pay the credit card processing fees on my payment... -

After spending the last 6 months since moving here trying to find just the right esthetician to do a Brazilian for me, I HAVE SUCCEEDED! I had the **Best** experience today.
Aida has an amazing technique. I came right back to work from my appt and had no discomfort. I truly thought that i was going to spend the rest of my life using a razor since having 2 bad experiences at other salons since relocating.
I am so so so pleased with her I am trying to think of other things to wax just to go back.

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful Aida is! I had never had a wax before (only my lip once several years ago), so I was just a little nervous about getting a full Brazilian. I was fully prepared to be in tears, not be able to walk, and every other horrifying thought you could imagine. But, Aida was so nice and comforting without being weird about it. She just said "do this" and I did that. It was definitely not pleasant, but I think had I gone anywhere else it would have hurt a lot more (I think Aida uses a different wax. There was no ripping of anything off, more like a fast rub of the hair off), and they wouldn't have been as nice. Aida said "you did great! you have a good attitude about it and I'll see you in 4 weeks."
I definitely don't know how I lived before wax and I definitely won't be doing this myself ever again. So worth it. I felt awesome afterwards! If you've never had a wax before, go to Aida. You'll never go anywhere else. -

I used to get brazilians every few months until my regular esthetician relocated. I am happy to report that I have found my new go-to lady!
Aida is easy to talk to and comfortable to be around. I was in and out in 15 minutes and 5 of those minutes were just chit chat and hugging it out as I left. She's super efficient, cost effective, and super nice. You can tell she loves what she does cuz she makes her own, all natural wax! There is plenty of metered parking in front of the store and I now know it will only cost me a quarter for all my future visits.
She did a remarkable job leaving me bare from front to back. There may have been a stubborn hair or two, but nothing you can't tweeze yourself. I really loved my experience with Aida and look forward to having her as my new regular esthetician. -

Went to Aida today after being traumatized about 2 years ago I'm South Carolina and swearing I would never get another brazillian. Well Yelp reviews convinced me that for my 30th Bday and trip to Costa Rica to try Aida. I am glad I did. She was so thorough and the experience was great. While waiting there was 2 first timers before me who were not disappointed. I even met a lady in the lobby who said she had previously owned a spa so she had experienced several different aestheticians and Aida was the best. I have had 4 and she was the best. Is it comfortable? no. Does it go quick? Yes. Basically if u have a tattoo you can live through Aidas brazillian, I already booked my 2nd appointment.

My friends LOVE her. I never went as I do my own Brazilian waxing and could not justify paying $55 for something I can do myself.
I decided to go as I ran out of wax strips, was lazy to get more, and it was just coincidental that I needed a Brazilian STAT.
In and out in UNDER 10 minutes! BRAZILIAN IN TEN MINUTES? I'M AMAZED. It usually takes me at LEAST a half an hour to do it myself.
Left me absolutely bare because she could go over the same areas multiple times to get everything because her wax is not harsh like hot wax is.
Her shop is a bit brighter and dentist-y looking than I thought it would have been.
She's not SUPER warm and bubbly, but not unkind.
It hurt more in certain areas than others, but was def. worth it.
I don't know if I ever want to do my own Brazilian again. It was just too easy with Aida! -

1st TIME BRAZILIAN, GREAT EXPERIENCE.
I found Aida's on Yelp when i was looking to get a brazilian. I found it to be very personable as Aida was always the one to answer the phone. It took about 10 minutes total, and was less painful than I had expected. She made me feel very at ease and was professional and pleasant, and overall a jewel of a spa in the DC metro area. She seems to appreciate her clients and is very good to them.
I absolutely plan on returning. I also highly recommend Aida's for your first brazilian waxing. It was worth every penny. Pricing is $55.
Parking is on the street at the meters - when I went there were a lot of meters open so that was not a problem. Overall, very pleased! -

I decided to get a Brazilian wax before my trip to Aruba. I saw all of the rave reviews and made my appointment. First of all, when I walked in, I noticed that there was not a lot of privacy in this establishment. You can hear everything that is going on if there is an appointment before you. The girl before me was told that she couldn't get waxed because she shaved the night before. As I said, no privacy.
So then it was my turn to go behind the curtain. Well...I don't have a very high pain tolerance. I was miserable during the entire experience. Although I was not screaming, I did say "Oww" a few times. Aida kept saying that I was a big baby every time she snatched the hair away and I gritted my teeth Now don't get me wrong, I'm not extremely sensitive to words, but I am sensitive to pain. She really started to piss me off. If this is a service that you provide, I would think that you would learn how to deal with customers who are new to waxing or are sensitive to hair removal. I've decided that I'm only going to Aida for now on. She's friendly and puts you at ease in a potentially awkward situation. But more importantly, she does such a good job and her wax is great. The end result is really worth all the (temporary) pain. Love Aida!
Please note that she now requests cash or check, especially for small transactions. I think she still has a CC machine and can take CC if necessary and for large transactions. -

Whew, it was an intense experience, lol. Aida was very discreet and non judgemental. She's sweet, friendly, and QUICK! Others have mentioned she uses a different type of wax which reminds me of taffy. When she applies the wax it hurts like a son of a beach b/c it pulls the hair upon the application.
One thing that did annoy me was she kept saying "Shhh", "Stop being a baby"....things to that affect. Ok, s'cuze me you're ripping hair out of my Vageena...it F'ing HURTS! I wasn't loud but yes after a few rips there was deep breathing or an "oh my god". I'm not being loud so please allow me to deal with my pain in my own way:) I always feel so proud of myself after the appt....like I can accomplish anything, lol. -

I can't help but rave... I LOVE AIDA! I want to shout from the rooftops how much I love her services!
As featured in Allure magazine's Best Of (Spas and Salons), Aida is one of the best Brazilian waxers in the area. I just had my second Brazilian wax with her yesterday, and she was just as pleasant, professional, and efficient as she was on my first visit. Her office is small, but her services and technique are without comparison. If you are looking to try your first Brazilian wax, I highly recommend Aida. Both times, I've driven over an hour from my hometown just to make an appointment with her, and I will continue to do so.
I've only had two services with her: a brazilian wax and an underarm wax. Her Brazilian waxes are done using a sugar paste that hurts far less than traditional hot waxes. Waxing hurts, but when she finishes, I am pain-free with no burn marks. (A few years ago, I had my first and last bikini line hot wax at a different salon, and I was left with painful irritation in very sensitive areas.) My underarm wax was a little different. She started with hot wax on my underarms and finished with the sugar wax. I definitely had a burn/irritation under one of my arms even after 24 hours, but it may have been because she went over that side so many times with the wax.
Aida is a must-try in my book, and I will be recommending her to all of my adventurous friends. -

Called to make an appointment, she fit me in for the next morning. Good so far. I get there, she greets me pleasantly, still good. I didn't wait long, still good. Wax didn't take long, and it was my first sugar wax, so I was a little uneasy. Aida was a doll the whole way through! Excellent service, very much appreciated. I will definitely be back and will recommend her to anyone.

This is hands down the most effective, efficient, pain-minimal, and pleasant waxing experience of my life. Having jumped into the waxing world at the tender age of 15 I have experienced my fair share of bikini waxes and I've seen it all - the good, the bad, and the horrific.
First, Aida was punctual (a BIG plus in my book). She worked quickly without sacrificing technique. If you've never had a brazilian wax before you can just trust me when I say that you want it to be as short an experience as humanly possible. She made small talk with me and was friendly without being too in my face. Her demeanor is professional and sweet. I paid and was on my way in about 15 minutes. A few hours later my skin is smooth and there is no redness. No bumps. No bruises. I have seen all of those things after spending just as much at other salons.
I was so taken with Aida, I also booked a microdermabrasion/facial appointment with her for the following week. I am really looking forward to returning and seeing what magic Aida works on my skin. -

Will always go to her from now on! I've been going to her for a few months now, almost a year. I do admit, I wish her salon was a little more private, but I'm not shy, so it's not a deal breaker for me.
She's kind, friendly, and knows what she's doing. It can be painful because the technique she uses sort of pulls the hair, but the results are amazing. She's quick, thorough, and experienced! -

Just left Aida and I am wonderfully satisfied! Just moved here from Cali and have been searching for 3 months for "the right place" to get my Brazilian wax here in Alexandria area. My search is over! She has an awesome and comforting bedside manor. Her technique is unlike any I have experienced before but the results are great! Plus the cost is much lower than some other spas in the area. I will definitely be coming back!!!!
