AHB Association of Home Businesses has been serving small businesses in the community since 1992! And does it well. The group meets third Thursday of the Month at the Sellwood SMILE Starion for dinner, discussion, presentations and encouragement.
What I found at the AHB:
Mentoring. Wise souls. Encouragement. Guidance toward success. These were the qualities I was seeking when attending my first meeting of the AHB in the beginning of 2008. I found that and more! Each meeting I come away with new skills, a fresh outlook and excited to apply ideas and concepts I've gathered there. Between the presenters, members and the Board, finding AHB has resulted in a perfect fit to help me succeed. The presentations, discussions and friendships I've made encourage me as I continue to grow my Personal Assistant Service. It's fabulous having a support group who shares their experiences, appreciates mine and propels me forward.
Why I enjoy attending the Monthly Dinner Meetings:
This is a group of positive entrepreneurs who share their expertise and encouragement. The presenters are OUTSTANDING, dinner is fun, eclectic and tasty and the group is welcoming.
Check out their website for more information and to meet the membership. AHB is one of Portland's Hidden Gems! -

I was looking for a group that focused on small business owners to meet, and I found AHB online. It's very affordable ($36/ year) plus $10 for dinner each time. There is always a speaker and plenty of time to get to know everyone in a laid back setting. Everyone is very friendly and happy to meet new people. I wish I'd found it a year ago. Hope to see you there.

My wife and I have a home business. We saw a blurb in the local paper about AHB, and for the next year we said, we ought to check that out. Don't know why it took so long, but when we finally went, it was immediately clear it was perfect for us. (That was about four years ago). A wide variety of businesses are represented by the members, but we have a lot in common because we're all trying to run a business from home. If I'm looking for a solution to a problem, chances are pretty good that someone else in the group has already figured it out. It's a good group of people, the dinner/presenter format works great, and once a month is the perfect frequency. Check it out!
