New York, NY
In any other city, this would probably be a 3-star restaurant, but given NYC's dearth of good Mexican (can Chipotle really be a top ten result, in Yelp search as well as real life?) I am bumping it up to 4. It's tasty, unoffensive, and even purports to be "healthy" in that it serves whole wheat tortillas, low fat sour cream, etc. Also a fun place to go: unassuming, with all the colorfully tacky decor you could ever want.
My meal was the opposite of healthy and I was 100% fine with that. Chips are decent, salsa is good but not great, entrees left everybody satisfied. I got the Tacos Pollos: nothing to scream about but definitely on the level of the many Mexican derivative spots I miss back home in sunny Virginia.
Drinks are PRICEY, however, and not very big: if this restaurant became BYOB, I'd be here more often. I wouldn't go here with a group larger than four, but four would be a great crowd for the place (avec reservations). -
Review from Mike B.
it's been a while since I wrote a one star review. well, take a seat, kids, because at Mike's Cafe Americain, the Haterade is always on tap and costs you just a few minutes of your time!
admittedly, we only went here because Caroline had a Groupon [1] for it. I had read the warnings of other reviews [2] prior to going in and was thus braced for fail. still, $25 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 frozen margaritas?
we're not even in the place and I got a bad vibe. the fact that we were a little early (4:45; they open at 5) but they are just loading in cooking supplies and setting up tables is a bit offsetting.
the frozen margarita machine is not ready yet? okay, we'll wait. the chips and salsa are actually decent - the salsa is spicy. we get guacamole for the appetizer. it was decent. not great, but not bad either. okay, maybe this won't be so bad! we finish the guac, and the frozen margarita is "still not ready".
for my entree, I got the chalupas. sounded alright, I mean they gotta be better than the ones at Taco Bell?, right? the portion size was big, and they came out piping hot. as I come close to finishing, I realize...the cheese tastes a bit odd. the beef seems to be cooked, the rice and beans are okay...but the cheese...something is not quite right...
ah, yes, back to a previously cooled plotline: our drinks! we are given the alternative of having margaritas on the rocks. screw it, after this wait (it's been maybe 45 minutes) just bring me something, or I am going to go Patrick Bateman on someone. the margarita is alright.
we pay tax/tip and proceed on our way. walking back to Caroline's, I start to feel a bit queasy. moreso with each progressive step. we get the bus, to cut a few minutes out, instead of walking. I didn't end up getting violently ill, but I definitely had to sit down, drink a lot of water, and take some Pepto to avoid getting further sick.
now, keep in mind that I have pretty much a cast-iron stomach. some have posited that in a past life, I was a T-Rex, or a great white shark. so for me to feel sick after eating, you know something was up. I guess Caroline was lucky to order a dish that had no cheese.
it is fitting that this place is named after one of the more irritating breeds of dogs...and I am not much of a dog fan to begin with (though I make exceptions). you've been sufficiently warned.
[1]: as a man of science and math, I always take a good look at the numbers before pulling the trigger on Groupons, LivingSocial, etc. average reviews, number of reviews, and trendline are all important. remember this!
[2]: not going to lie, a backburner project of mine is working on a better system for analysis of Yelp averages. somewhere I have spreadsheets with potential new algorithms. Jando, Peter, Ruggy, whoever else in Yelp HQ that reads this - eventually I would like to submit it for consideration. I am very serious about this.Listed in: the fail list

Manhattan, NY
We had a deal from http://restaurant.com. We're discovering, very few "good" restaurants are teaming up with Groupon/Living Social/restaurant.com type companies, likely because they don't have to. This one ALWAYS has a deal going on. And I can't imagine many people are going back...
Boyfriend got a chicken burrito, and I got beef enchiladas. We were somewhat disappointed that this was a "healthy" Mex restaurant because, well, whole wheat tortillas suck. There, I said it. We momentarily forced an attitude change for "health's" sake, but when our entrees arrived, our whole wheat tortilla creations came completely smothered and covered with "cheese." Not cheese, but "cheese." Like Velveeta. Or a Whiz type product.
The most flavorful item on my plate was the beans. Kinda hard to screw up beans.
Decor: picture what the inside of a crack house from the 80s would look like. Then string up some Christmas lights and as much tacky shit as you can fit on the walls. Leave the barcode sticker on your antique-style wall art just to drive the "who gives a shit" theme home.
Never again. One star for the beans.
Oh, and for those of you who say Manhattan lacks good Mexican food, I recommend Rio Grande ($$$$$$$$$) or Baby Bo's in the East 30s. -

Ay chihuahua! Where do I begin? You know that place that ALWAYS has a (insert: groupon, living social, goldstar, whatever) deal going on? Well that place is ah chihuahua.
I'd had my deal for over 6 months and always found it a problem to get over there before their close (10pm on all nights, even weekends!). Well, I finally did but managed to do so right after they'd had yet another deal so the place was PACKED. Like, there was a line, packed. Neighborhood residents were passing by, with shock written all over their faces. I should have known then... but alas, the deal had long been purchased.
Details are blurry at this point (went over a week ago, and clearly, the place is not memorable) but I do know that for my entree I had the chicken fajitas and they were totally subpar. True to another reviewer's statement, they did NOT come out sizzling or steaming. That was a first. The beans were eh, the chicken was eh, the rice was eh, the whole place was eh! Salsa was ok/good though.
Chipotle [insert greater than sign that Yelp won't let me add] Ah chihuahua. Hands down! -

Ah Chihuahua=no bueno. I came here with Mike Saturday for dinner using a Groupon. The Groupon was a good deal--two margaritas, one appetizer, two entrees. The machine for frozen margaritas was malfunctioning so we got them on the rocks. The margaritas were nice and strong, but that was the only part of the meal that was any good. The food was pretty poor and that's coming from a big fan of Mexican food or really anything spicy. Skip this one.

Review from Julie Y.
This place tries to sell itself as a 'healthy' mexican restaurant.
So, I had a kgbdeals and wanted to try this 'healthy' place. The restaurant is tiny - about 6 tables and can fit maybe 20 people. It's very dark and dim and not in the good way. The food was mediocre and service was okay. What made it really bad was the group of 4 girls shouting at the top of their lungs 'talking' to each other. Back to the food - everything was very BLAH. Usually, fajitas come out on a sizzling pan but mine was reheated, tiny pieces of chicken and beef with some rice and beans. I can't believe they could get mexican this bad but yup they were able to.
We tried a bunch of things, chicken quesado, guacamole, fajitas, burrito. Unfortunately, everything was barely edible. -

This place is incompetent. They offered a deal for a meal for 4 on groupon and only have one table for four. When confronted about this, the person in charge of seating attempted to convince me that he had more than one table for 4... That he could not put tables for 2 together... That because there were more parties of 2 they would get seated first. Our party of 4 waited for 2 hours. No apologies. Incredibly horrible service. If you are searching for a heart attack and a brain aneurism, I strongly recommend this place.

AY Chihuahua doesnt even begin to describe it. Went there for Mothers Day, (had a deal from Groupon) decided why not since we were in the area. For starters its a very small restaurant had about 7 tables, in my son's words "hole in the wall". I tried to stay positive since sometimes the best food comes from those lil hole in the wall spots. As we walked in we saw the "grade pending" sticker on the window, hmmm, still i decided to stick it out, ignoring my son's looks of horror, and gave it the benefit of the doubt. The manager served us, he seemed very happy to seat us until i told him we had a groupon deal, after that it was all down hill. After much debate, we ordered a chicken quesadilla and an enchilada platter and to make a long story short we took one bite, gave each other "the look" got up, left a tip (even tho i wonder if i should have) and left. I will definetly not be going back there, groupon deal or no groupon deal.

My favorite little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant! Excellent prices, large portions, STRONG margaritas, and fantastic salsa. What else do you need? Authentic rice and beans? No problem! The service is fast and waiters are attentive. This certainly isn't the place for someone who is looking to have their napkin folded when they go to the bathroom so keep that in mind and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

So Rude.
Save yourself the time.
Once upon a time on a Saturday night my date and I had planned to have a great evening.
We went in at 9pm the tiny dark lit hole in the wall had few of its few tables filled.
Although there were open seats, we were told by one man who worked there that they, "close at 10pm" as he walked away leaving us standing in the doorway. I looked into the enormous eyes of my date, " perfect" -We had a movie to catch at 10 so we'd be able to grab food and go.
Another waiter came up to us and said, "We close at 10pm but tonight we're going to close early"
He then walked away and so did we, never to return
and we lived happily ever after.
I suggest if you want to be treated poorly go to the DMV .
I personally think dining out is an experience and if the service is incredibly rude the food can't help but follow and offend the taste buds if you glance at a few other reviews you'll see this place is the place to escape from. -

So, we had a Groupon for this place, us and everyone else that dined there that night.
The servers were very understanding about it. It's a homey small hole in the wall place. The food was average, the service was average but the margaritas were pretty on point.
The Groupon was an appetizer, an entree and a drink for two. Pretty filing. Not sure if I'd visit again. -

SKIP IT!!!
I had a groupon which had already expired, and I wanted to use it for it's value, not the deal. When it came time to pay, the waiter would not accept the groupon value. He said "management says that if it is expired, we cannot accept it". I showed him the groupon on my phone and where it is stated that the amount paid for the groupon never expires and can be used toward the purchase.
The waiter continued to say that he cannot accept it and that the owner was not in the restaurant at the moment. He then said that I would have to contact Groupon in order to get my money back as they would not honor it for its value. So you mean to tell me that you already have my money (through groupon) and you cannot accept the amount I paid for it? While he spoke English, I don't believe that he understood very much or was just not sure what to do so he just opted to be impossible.
Well, if I had known this from the beginning, I wouldn't have eaten there, and just contacted groupon for a refund. Oh, also, they only take cash!
Now onto the food:
I ordered a small guacamole and chips, they just brought me the guacamole and assumed I would eat the chips that were already on my table. The guacamole was bland, I didn't taste like anything, no lemon juice, no cilantro, no salt. If they make it bland because of people that have issues with salt, then you should have a choice of how you want it (bland or seasoned).
I don't agree with other reviewers, I don't believe that they promote themselves as healthy. Rather, they use healthier options which is different, but its the same fat, same calories, same everything. One of the examples, is using Spinach tortillas, instead of corn flour tortillas. What is the caloric different if the inside still has the same amount of fat?
I had a chicken quesadilla (they define quesadilla as 3 chicken tacos with no lettuce, rather chicken with diced tomato and cheese in some sauce). I expected two tortilla disks pressed together with chicken, tomato and cheese inside. My meal had some rice (which was good and had some carrots in it), refried beans (didn't try it), some guacamole with some sour cream on top (I had asked for no sour cream). The food as a whole was not bad but I wouldn't come to Midtown and pay for this quality of food. There are too many restaurants in the immediate area that cook way better than that. That's like paying for a meal in Midtown, that you could have had at any averaged home.
The appearance:
the restaurant is tiny and everything is close together, it is dark and the waiters do not wear uniforms or appropriate attire. I was served by someone in a black t-shirt and black jeans, I wouldn't be able to tell the different between who delivers the food, who is bust boy or anything like that. The outside looks like it may have been a bar before, not inviting at all! -

I would have to say at the end of the day, you should just save your money and go to blockheads.
I came here with a friend yesterday evening bc we had a groupon that qualified us for 2 appetizers and 2 dinner entrees. The food was neither good nor bad; it was just OK. It was nothing that would bring me in again. The portions also were pretty small and I'm not a big eater and I'm saying that. I figured that with an appetizer and an entree i would have leftovers but that wasn't the case.
The service, though, was absolutely terrible. When we first got there, we were the only ones there and even by the end of our dinner, there were only 3 other tables. Yet we couldn't get any attention from the waiter. We were given sodas that were probably the equivalent of half a can and were never asked if we wanted refills (meanwhile they were $2 each), we were never asked if our food was OK or if we needed anything, and then I literally kept having to say "excuse me" to the waiter in order to ask for the check and then question what part of the bill we actually owed after our coupon.
The only reason I am giving the restaurant 2 stars rather than 1 is that the food wasn't awful. -

I went there on Friday because I had a kgb deal. The food was just average. If I'd known the place was THAT tightly packed, I would have never purchased the deal.
Also, there is no drink menu so beware that you will rack up charges in that area.
Was also perturbed by the "B" rating. -

Just had a delicious lunch here with a friend. The lunch specials are slammin! I had the crispy taco special - two tacos of either ground beef, grilled chicken or one of each - with a copious amount of lettuce and tomato, rice and refried beans on the side....and chips and salsa for ---- $7.95!!!! Unbelievable and delicious!!! Also rocked the $4 lunch special margarita....I felt like crying when time to go back to the office. Lovely friendly service in this adorable hole in the wall.

I bought a Groupon for my boyfriend since we are both a fan of Mexican food. I loved the food and the chips and salsa were good... we couldn't get enough. The quesadilla there was amazing!
The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star review is because the place is tiny. I wouldn't recommend going as a group. It is more the type of place you go to have an intimate dinner with someone. -
Review from Jeremy M.
ASTORIA, NY
According to my star rating: "Yay! I'm a fan." That sums it up pretty well. I like to provide a little guide to places that I like:
First, don't come with a group of more than 4. The place is small, just like nearly every other restaurant in the city. That being said, I am not a skinny person and I never have a problem sitting comfortably at a table. The lighting is dim and music is great, neither too dark nor too loud for conversation. A great combination of both.
Second, before you get a margarita (which I most definitely recommend), ask the price because drink prices aren't on the menu. They are a little pricey, $8 I think, but don't let that deter you, they are tasty and strong (on the rocks with salt, please). They also have sangria and beer.
Next, the food. Chips and salsa are great, chips always crispy and cut into strips rather than triangles for easier dipping and the salsa always tastes fresh, has just the right kick to it with a nice bite of onion and cilantro. The prices are in line with what you can expect to pay in midtown. The overall quality of the dishes I would call solid and they are large portions (I always cut mine in half right away and take the rest home for lunch the next day). Look, this isn't any 5-star Michelin rated restaurant, but I always leave quite satisfied. A favorite for me has to be a any cheese dish, one of the appetizers, I think it's a quesadilla or something, has some really amazing cheese on it.
Finally, the service. I have no real complaints. Last night there was only one server, but the first two times there were at least 2 servers and a busser. The service is never bubbly, but it's always welcoming. I am allergic to avocado and they are great about leaving it off or putting it on the side. The servers work fast, despite it being busy and only 1 server last night we never felt forgotten or left out and I like they don't bother you, and let you have a conversation. They serve you without annoying you which I much prefer over the myriad of fake nicety that is prevalent in many restaurants. Also, every time I've been there it's never full nor empty, usually about 3/4 full the entire time. -

What an excelent GROUPON! This is the best Mexican Resturante in Manhattan! It has a very nice, authentic Mexican atmosphere. It is a small resturante, but gosh it packs alot of flavour! Excelent refried beans and tacos. The waiters there are legit mexicans and come from mexico. With our groupon we got $75-$80 of food and we only paid $25! Can't beat that. I definantly recomend this establishment.

all right...after the second visit, I will upgrade my review to a 4 star
Got a Tippr coupon here for two appetizers and entrees.
This time the chips and salsa was just ok. The chips tasted a bit stale for me but the salsa was pretty good.
For appetizer, we had the shrimp salad and the chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla was very very good. Big chunks of chicken in soft tortilla with lots of mozzarella cheese. The shrimps on the salads were very good as well
For entrees, we got the shrimp and mixed chicken and beef fajitas.
The fajitas were just mediocre to me. the chicken and beef a bit on the dry side
Service was very good. The waiter kept on coming here to make sure we were doing ok.

Woodside, NY
Date/Time/Crowd: Wednesday Night -around 930
First Impression: Cheesy Decor, Pretty Empty, Can definitely see why they would need Groupon to help with marketing.
The Good:
The Salsa was above average taste for New York, but was not super fresh.
The menu promotes a healthier option, everything is reduced in fat and calories without sacrificing the taste too much.
The Chips were OK, we requested more and it was brought out.
* One Star for Service* which was good, I find it as long as you are courteous and respectful service will be much better*
The Bad:
I left here feeling like I ate a super greasy meal, although considering their reduced fast menu, i was surprised.
To be quite honest had we not had to pay a reduced bill because of Groupon, we would have left extremely disappointed. The prices are too high, for this part of the city I guess it makes sense, but price versus the qaulity of food, no way!
The guacamole, seriously I could do better. it wasn't horrible it needed salt and for the price, not worth it.
We had a chorizo dip which taste OK, but looked like ground beef.
I had the chicken chalupas which made me feel sicker the more i ate.
We also tried the steak fajitas, the beef was dry and was also sub par.
The food overall, was not impressive. They say everything is homemade which is a nice touch, but in this case it did not help, if anything it hurt them.
Reason to Comeback: We wont be. -

New York, NY
Why did you shatter our cool new place to have dinner dream, Chihuahua? Why?! Minus full a star for our server. Seemed pretty disinterested in serving. Hey owner, if by any chance you are reading this, train your polite and attentive busser to be a server and replace the one you had working the night of 8/5/11.
When we initially sat down, I was expecting to have a really nice time. The atmosphere was perfect for it. Dim lights, rancheras playing from the speakers, all types of Mexican folk art hanging from the walls.
The food is really good here. I read about the healthy menu and expected the worst. The low fat sour cream tastes just like rich, fatty sour cream that most people don't eat by the spoonful when no one's looking. They make the best guacamole I've had this year so far. My gf pointed out that all the entrees requiring cheese used a low fat mozzarella which actually worked out well. I guess there aren't low fat queso blancos or queso frescos yet? If anyone knows, message me.
We ordered the steak and chicken fajitas, a shredded beef burrito and the quesado/taquito appetizer to start. Dinner portions are enough for two. Plan your dinner accordingly. I would come back for the food and laidback vibe but only if I was in the neighborhood. -

KEW GARDENS, NY
Food was really good, service was good, people weren't kidding, it is small in there. Like we were at a table for 2 against the wall right beside the area where the servers walk by and you couldn't even unfold your 3 section menu without cutting into the aisle where they walk by. You had to sit sideways to look at your menu.
Had the Tex/Mex Beef Burrito and loved it. -

"Ah! Chihuahua" is exactly what you'll be saying as you scream your way out of there.
Went there to try it out since there was a groupon. Geez this place needs a major makeover.....an extreme makeover! The interior was dark and muggy feeling with old Mexican trinkets hanging everywhere. Their food was the most bland Mexican food I've ever had!! I ordered the steak burrito and the meat had very little seasoning; I could barely even finish it. Even Taco Bell would've been a better alternative.
The service was pretty good but it's a shame everything else wasn't as good. They seriously need to contact one of Food Network's reality TV shows like Restaurant Makeover. -
Review from Maria H.
I understand a poor review can affect a business' overall integrity and reputation, but this place deserves the worst review possible.
My husband bought a groupon knowing what a fan I am of Mexican food. Granted, I'm a lover of the authentic stuff, but am open minded to the white wash mash ups some establishments deliver. This one the other hand was just disgusting. The Exterior looks uninviting and dingy. Unfortunately upon walking in, the inside mirrored the outside. Dusty, cramped. There were so many men walking around from the back kitchen then back to the front tables.. we couldn't tell who was working or who were patrons. We were seated, and after 10 minutes we had to flag down a random guy we saw passing from the back to ask for water and a drink menu. He gave us some chips and a salsa dip that tasted straight out of a can. The food menu was perplexing, with platters that didn't sound appealing what so ever. Spinach wheat tortillas? it would make sense if it matched the overall theme of this place. But there was nothing healthy about this place, so to throw spinach wheat tortillas in the mix just seemed confusing. In fact, we struggled with finding something we even thought sounded remotely tasty. In the end we ordered the chorizo and cheese dip as an appetizer. It looked like dog food and tasted no better. Super greasy. They also only gave us 2 tortillas with the dip. Typically you get at least 6 to 8 tortillas. We had to ask for more.
For entrees I ordered chicken enchiladas and my husband ordered a beef dish that came out looking like a big fat pile of nachos. The enchiladas were a disappointment with AMERICAN cheese melted on top. American cheese? wack!
I also ordered a frozen margarita but what I got was a chilled liquidy margarita. It wasn't even slush, it was simply a cold margarita. The worst part was that as we looked around at other patrons, you could tell they were also pretty grossed out. Honestly I felt like I was on an episode of PUNKED and at any moment Ashton Kutcher was gonna pop out and tell us we'd been pranked. Too bad this didn't happen.
By the time we ordered, ate and got our bill we must have had at least 4 different servers. All of which looked sketchy. I swear the delivery boy is the one who brought me my margarita. In the end, we left with most our meal still on our plates and got out as fast as we could. SKIP THIS PLACE!! -
Review from Jane K.
A new and updated menu at Ah Chihuahua had us saying "Ah yes" the other evening. Low fat sour cream? Whole wheat tortillas? Margaritas that taste like tequila and no moldy pumpkins from Halloween in the rafters.
Ah Chi has experienced a makeover. The food is still awesomely indulgent, however, so all these updates are very well received. And I think the patrons have recognized it as well since it was poppin' up here while we were dining. No line out the door or anything but a fun Mexican stop in this area, indeed.Listed in: Live Cheap New York, Drink Drank Drunk, Fatten Me Up New York, New York Tries to Do Mexican…, Happy Birthday (Dinner)!

Admittedly, I go here often. More out of tradition (favorite eating space for some hardy former co-workers) and the decent service. The food is coated in fat, of the cheesy, beany variety. They have tried to go healthy, which translates into whole wheat tortillas. The cheesy fatty beans and pork and chicken are now wrapped in brown tortillas. Ah!
So, tonight's visit was not good. I walk in, the first of my other 2 dinner companions. I sit at a 4-chair table. The waiter comes over, I tell him that I am waiting for 2 others. He tells me that I can sit here, but may need to move. ? There are about 6 empty tables. I am thinking, what? A customer, who is going to bring 2 other guests and who has been here often, is being told that? So, I walk out. Wait for my friends, they arrive and then we eat. All is okay, the usual cheesy fatty stuff. At the end of meal, settling up the check, we ask for change. Tonight, not only is customer service failing, math seems to be challenging. We are stiffed by $10 bucks. We ask for help, we get the right change. -

The restaurant itself is a little bit tight, but the decoration is very Mexican style. Frankly speaking, the food portion is big and very heavy. I think it is better to go there to have lunch, which will be much healthier.

Food is okay -- big portions, nice and cheesy. Depending on the dish can be just okay to pretty good, but hard to know which it will be. Service learns towards the rude side (and sometimes is downright rude). And you can wait a long time for them to even acknowledge you, which is never fun. We actually quit eating in, just ordering through seamless because their service is surly.
We go (or order) because we love Mexican food, but as soon as we find a better cheap Mexican place, we won't go back.
Oh...note that when we mentioned yelp, we did get the promotion (except he pretended not to know anything about it -- very doubtful -- but did honor it when I showed him on my phone). BUT, when I asked why my margarita was $8 when it clearly says that they are $4 before 7 pm -- he told me that it was only one promotion each..."I couldn't walk in there and ask for promotion after promotion!" Not nice way to respond. To me, it reads as margaritas are discounted before 7 pm (as in a happy hour price). If it is a choose your promotion price, you should think about rewording your ad...because what you currently have (seen below) certainly doesn't read that way:
25% off your next order.
Mention Yelp and get automatically a 25% off on your next delivery order or eat in the restaurant.

I went into this spot today for the first time. I was craving Mexican and it looked to have healthy options. The first slight for me was the grade. Grade B.
Thought I think grades are important, I decided to try it anyway. I walked into the restaurant and asked to be seated. I noticed that they had a table with seating for three. I was in a party of two. They refused to seat us and give us the courtesy of the open table. They instead attempted to force us to wait for a table (specifically for a table to two with half full glasses of wine) to leave.
We I asked for the table of three (again, I'm a party of two) the waiter condescendingly told me that if he gave me that table, he wouldn't have a table for three. You know, the hypothetical table of three who happen to be jamming their way through the door on a Wednesday night.
Needless to say, they didn't get my business. -

I've been to this restaurant a few times, and I have to credit it as the most authentic Mexican food I've had in the city.
There are mixed reviews (of course), and I won't try to combat other people's opinions, but every time I've gone I have been exceptionally pleased.
Ah! Chihuahua has a small, hole-in-the wall feel with cute and authentic decor. Every time we've come for dinner there is hardly anyone else in the restaurant- which gives us free reign to eat, talk and laugh out loud as a group. As soon as we sat our waiter brought us delicious chips and salsa- they even offered us a free basket refill as the night went on.
We ordered a Sangria for our party of four and it was the perfect choice. Super cheap, incredibly delicious. The same goes for all the plates on the menu. The portions are huge and the prices are anything but what you'd expect to pay here. I've enjoyed the chicken tacos, and chicken burrito packed with fresh ingredients. Everything is served with flavorful side of rice and beans. What more could you ask for?
In reading other reviews there have been comments to the effect of "I'm from Texas...I know Tex-Mex." My opinion is that the food in Texas is leaps and bounds above what we have here in the city. I lived in South Texas for 18 years. However, Ah! Chihuahua still proves to be the best I've had in New York City- hands down.
I can't wait to go back. If only it was in the UWS! -

So since complaining to Living Social ( exactly 5-6 emails to them) I received my money back, but still no explanation about the wording on the voucher.

Pretty average food in a stuffy environment. For the location and ambiance, I was shocked a margarita was $8! Thank goodness I had a Groupon to cushion the blow. The food was decent, but then again, it's hard to really mess up Mexican! I can't imagine the place is doing too well since the prices aren't too cheap (though average) and I've seen them in plenty of group sites lately.

There is no reason to come here, other than the place looks kind of cool. The food is nothing special with small portions for a Mexican restaurant, and the service is very rude for Groupon users. They do, however, have very good salsa.

Okay, mistake number one, I call with a Groupon question. The person who answered pulled out the old "could not understand my perfect English" when he did not want to answer my question. I had the coupon already so I took the chance of going to the restaurant anyway
I don't understand where these guys get off with their attitudes . I don't understand why the restaurant has to know when customers have a coupon . The service, attitudes and food in general seems to go right down the toilet it seems
I never write reviews or I guess I have never had to. This hole in the wall with the quality of food they put out should be kissing up to anyone coming in through their doors. I have been an Executive Chef around the world for so long it hurts to see such indifference towards paying customers. -

Not very flavoful. The salsa was evidently home made and OK. The Margaritas are OK and the beer is cold.
The food was very bland and undersalted (seems to be a boring trend for Mexican food lately). But the owner/server was nice.
I still am looking for someplace to at least equal Maryanne's. This ain't ti, though. -

Despite the mixed reviews I decided to give this place a try with a http://restaurant.com gift certificate.
Around 7 on a Tuesday we almost had the place to ourselves. Service was fast and friendly. Salsa was nice and spicy. Plates were huge and enough for two meals, easily. Cheese enchiladas were yummy, a bit on the greasy side maybe, but I'm not complaining!
I did notice the smell (like flowery air freshener) that others mentioned in their reviews, but it didn't bother me.
A beer, soda, 2 entrees were $48 (including tax and 18% tip automatically added to http://restaurant.com certificates) and as I said, we each had leftovers for another meal so not bad!
I'd come back or get delivery when the craving for Mexican hits again.Listed in: Living and Playing on the East…

Had a coupon but hardly worth even that amount. Perhaps this is what East Coast mexican food is like.
