Review from Jeromy G.
Hercules, CA
The greatest burrito I've ever had in my life. I've been coming here for years, I grew up on this place and it's still standing for a reason.
I see some reviews that say they had a bad experience with this establishment and I feel sorry that you never experienced the awesome that is this Taqueria. You get a burrito and you get carne asada, pollo, chile verde or collorado and that's it. That is their staple and it's what make them super bomb.
I always grab a coke in a bottle because that shit is straight from Mexico and they use real cane sugar so you taste the difference and I like it better than American coke. Plus. Their burritos are huge and you will either not finish it or finish it and hate yourself for the next few days which I do all the time which is totally worth it.
Granted the place may look dirty and old but that's old time Pinole man. You all say your want the taste of the authentic Mexican? Well you think you go to Mexico and you have a five star, eat off the floor type of restaurant? Hell no bro, they are all shitty in the hole spots with amazing food which is exactly what this place is so if you really have OCD about the cleanliness of the restaurant then take it to go. My family has always come here for years and have never gotten sick at all from the food so it doesn't have anything to do with the cleanliness, just the age of the building.
Overall best burrito I have ever had and now that I go to school at UCSC I miss it everytime I have a burrito here. Once you've had the best, your tastebuds are ruined for all other burritos. -

I had the enchiladas with carne asada .... the meat was dry and the Pico de Gallo looked and tasted like it was made in a blender not chopped. My hubby had a carne asada burrito which barely had steak he said it had a lot of rice and beans. My daughter had a carne asada quesadilla and she felt sick after eating. Overall I felt the food lacked in flavor. I was disappointed; I was expecting better due to the reviews.

This place is AWESOME! I love eating here, the burritos are fantastic! The rice is flavorful and perfectly cooked. With options aside from just grilled chicken, my favorites, they have chicken cooked in their verde sauce or red sauce, giving your burrito an extra layer of flavor to tantalize those tastebuds! Not to mention these burritos are cheap and huge enough to completely fill up your stomach and that of your friends!
Why bother with some place like Chipotle off the Pinole Valley Exit when just one exit away off Appian Way, you can get a far more delicious authentic burrito, that's twice the size! Since discovering this place, I don't bother going anywhere else. When my friends try to take me to Chipotle, I steer them here instead. I recommend you give it a try and judge for yourself!
PRO TIP: If you like spicy, I recommend having them add both the salsa and the hot sauce into the burrito, then head over to Taco Bell across the road and get yourself some fire packets. The flavor of their hot sauce mixed with the Taco Bell fire sauce is a perfect combo! Trust me, you won't be disappointed and it'll be worth the trip across the street! -

Ouch, I usually trust yelpers but this place was off! I would give it two stars but I have to bring the average down for the next poor soul who craves a good Mexican meal and is sorely disappointed.
I got the carnitas plate and the Carne asada tacos with spicy sauce. The only good thing about those tacos was that spicy sauce. The carnitas lacked in flavor I had to pour salsa and tapatio just to eat it.
I was so excited because the reviews raved about this place. All in all a bad food night.
At least the beans were good. -

Muey Beuno! I've been coming here for about 4 years and i love it! And to make things even better they just got the original Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition arcade game- FREAKIN AWESOME!! The food here is very clean- NO B.S! I'm very suspect about these "Mexican Joints", (OY! I'm half Mexican)!! Some of the places around here are very smelly, unkept (not clean), and if you eat the wrong thing you can end up with diarrhea or some other form of food poisoning. This place looks kinda sleazy and ratie, but the guys working here have been here for years and really take care of the place. I'm a Lil bitch about Mexican food (taco smell, bootsy-ass Chevy's), but this place is legit! I've never seen a roach here!
I always get a chicken n black bean burrito, the chicken is never dry, and the black beans are off the hook. Everybody knows ima slut for Hot sauce, dude, they got some bombass homemade hot sauce, DUDE, LOVE!! GOTTA HAVE!! Burritos are about 10 inches to a foot long, about as thick as my forearm and at least 4 to 5 pounds of mouthwatering FIRE! Since I eat 6 to 7 small meals a day, i cut the thing in two and eat it for my 3rd and 5th meal. I HAFTA drink a Kombucha with both or I'll get tummy burn :*(
I wouldn't bring a date here (at least not on the first date :P) but it's definitely the place to go after a hard day of busting ass!! Crystalina B. approves, so what the hell??? AND OY!!! STREET FIGHTER!!! TIGHT!!!! -

Shut the front door!
This is my accidental find. I jumped off the freeway to go to my old chain Taqueria down the way. Come to find out they were no longer. A moment of silence please for the fallen taco soldier......

....but now HELLO to this place. Hot damn. You know you are movin in the right direction when you walk in and see a dozen vatos gettin their grub on.
My road dawg and I split the Asada Nachos and watched some hella funny cowboy gunsmoke telemundo while chasing it all down with some kern's mango.
Oh, I will be back again and again and again...see our pic here: http://www.yelp.com/bi... -

I L O V E this place! Every time I am coming home from San Francisco or some other East Bay excursion, I always become inexplicably ravenous for my comfort food: Carnitas and beans. mmmmmmm.
This place is the absolute solution to my hunger. Super fast, affordable, family run, m a s s i v e portions and most importantly, freaking delicious!
Succulent pork, piled high with onions, cilantro, salsa... *slurp*.
Added bonus: really crusty, borderline prehistoric video games line the wall... (note: not quite all of them may have been exactly operational... but, let's not knit pick). -

BURRITOS! I love this place. You get a huge burrito for a little over $6 depending on what you get inside of it.
Green Chile Chicken = tender, juicy, amazing
Marinated Pork = crack in pork form
Those are my two favorite meats for my burritos and I pretty much put everything else in it. I sometimes have to tell them to put less beans... They tend to put more beans than rice in it.. But they're nice about it.. I just don't want to have a problem afterwards x.x
This is a WIN WIN situation when you walk in. :) -

I wanted to try the al pastor, but they didn't have any at 11:15am. They don't even open before 11, so don't try going here for an early lunch.
I had the carne asada burrito instead, which was merely O-K. The horchata was even worse.
One cool thing is that they separate their cilantro, onions, tomatoes, and hot sauce, so you could pick and choose instead of having to have it all together. -

This place is aiite, if you want mexican food that at the very least attempts to be authentic and you're in the area, hit this place up. The guys are cool, they're definitely not shy about portions, good price, and it tastes pretty decent, not amazing or anything. Though I don't know what it is, but most of the time I feel kind of sick of eating their burritos halfway into eating it. Might be the beans or something, who knows, but it's not so bad that I'll remember it the next time I visit otherwise I'd stop coming here.

OMG, they have TOFU, and good tofu at that!
I got a platos today (this is my 1st time here) and it's huge. They put rice andbeans in the little side cups of my styrofoam container, then they heaped/scooped in some stewed tofu in a delicious red sauce, then on top of that they put cilantro (fresh), onions, cheese and salsa. They gave 4 corn tortillas on the side (warm and soft).. I gotta go so I can finish eating this while it's still hot....
They also have chicken, chicken in green sauce, pork, beef, and all the fixin's.. I am SO going back...
They also have a mild salsa that is REALLY flavorful, and a hot salsa that's nice and spicy (got 'em both on my plato).. delish..... -

UPDATE::
I came back on YELP to review this place and realized that damn, I already had a review up! This time I had black beans and al pastor w/ cheese and sour cream....my gosh...it was effin good. It was delicious and NOT that messy at all much, like i lost one or two black beans, but THAT'S IT. My gosh...I loved it...and the dude charged me a flat 7 bucks, that's damn good for a fat burrito
----
This place ROCKS! I got a chicken burrito w/ guac and cheese. A pound of burrito in my hand...It was ridiculously good! Every bite had some goodness in it!!
I think I have found my taqueria. Sorry Taqueria Maria, this place doesn't give me one bite full of tortilla. -

My family and I love this place. Their chicken is fantastic, and our favorite (and possibly the only thing we've ever ordered because it's THAT good!) is the chicken burritos.
The guys who work here are really friendly, and make your food in front of you so can customize your meal to perfection.
We're huge fans and will keep coming back! Keep up the good work! -

Would you like a side of ceiling dust or flies in your food? How bout sticky feet due to a dirty floor? Or maybe you're the type who likes to abuse your taste buds with garbage Mexican food? If not stay far away please.

A fantastic burrito place, even though it's in the absurd wasteland that is the Pinole shopping center. It took me 3 tries to eat the whole thing, and I still had a whole corner leftover. Correct balance of cheese/ rice/ meat/ cilantro & onion. That to me is a 5 star burrito. 5 STARS!

Taqueria Aguililla is another one of my regular work lunch places. I love their burritos al pastor (spicy pork, a little greasy but oh so good), but they also have good tacos, nachos and lunch/dinner plates. Everything there is made fresh daily and the guys behind the counter know how to load up on the meat. The prices are cheap and they make a mean horchata, all cinnamony and sweet. The only problem is if you're not in the area, chances are you won't be coming here, but they also have a sister shop in the Emeryville Market that is also good.

Great value taqueria. The food is fresh, tasty and you get a lot for what you pay. If you love to eat (a lot) Mexican food, you won't be disappointed. You can even ask them to flavor your food as they prepare it -- the spicier the better. No frills, which is how a taqueria should be. Good food to have with Dos Equis.

No where near as good as my favorite, Gordo Taqueria, but not a bad fix when i'm in the mood for a burrito.

I eat here regularly. I find their food very meaty and the taste average. They can serve you authentic but you have to steer the servers away from the gringo ingredients. Large portions. Kinda pricey. Not much drink selection. Hole in the wall. Run by cool Mexican-American dudes.

Just thought I'd add my two cents; my experience coming here has been very similar to most of the other reviews. Very flavorful food, gigantic portions, and very affordable. This is THE takeout taqueria place in Pinole. My favs are the grilled chicken burrito and the chicken with the red sauce.

Ok so let me tell you why I am only giving them 2 stars!
Don't get me wrong, I love their food. I have been coming here since I was really young and their food is always fresh and authentic.
However!!! I only gave them two stars because the last time I came here I did not have a huge amount of cash so I paid with my card and then I gave them a tip with the cash I had. Everything was fine until I received my Statement from my Credit card...The credit card statement said I spent $25 dollars here and I knew that sounded off so I pulled out my receipt and it said that the total was only $20!! I was really confused and thought maybe my bank messed up somehow but when I called them they told me that I put a $5 tip on the receipt. Which I didn't do because I gave them a cash tip! So Basically I left the tip option open on my receipt and THEY PUT THEIR OWN TIP ON IT!!!! So my bank got my money back and I have not been back to this place since!! I love their food but to me it is not worth it.
TIP: when eating here and using a debit or credit card, either put a tip on the receipt or cross it out so they can't put their own tip (which is breaking the law by the way!!!!!) -

This place has a wide selection of ingredients (I know that sounds strange, but it is a taqueria,) and a very friendly staff. The food's pretty good, too--not amazing, but a heck of a lot better than a chain place!

This place is one of the greatest taqueria's around. The burrito's are good, and never disappoint. The Carnitas are unbelievable, and keep me coming back. A local regular says if you find yourself in Pinole wandering around looking for something to eat, you should definitely try this place.

Love this place. The ingredients are fresh and the same guys have been working there forever...they hook you up. My personal favorite is a simple pollo asado burrito (which is enormous), but the carnitas, carne asada, chiles are all good as well. I also like the fact that your food comes right down the line in front of you and you can get whatever you want on it.

best take out place in the neighborhood. i come here every week for my fix. love everything they serve - well except for the nachos- which i really dont care for and dont order anymore, and the guys are really friendly and accommodating. they appreciate loyal customers like me.
