Los Angeles, CA
During a work lunch break we actually set foot to find Thai food, but the Thai place next door was closed. This place smelled really nice, but maybe a bit too strong because my eyes started watering 5 minutes in. No matter, I was hungry.
I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was excellent. The food came in these metal trays that reminded me of how prisoners eat in movies. My table talked about this and thought that it was quite clever (despite the ugly look) because the metal trays would be easier to wash and store than a bunch of little bowls and plates.
They gave us a lot of naan, it was hot and crispy, YUM! -

Great ambiance.
Good first impression!
Minimal decor, though humbly decorated. An air of divey romance. Intimate booths with fake red roses adorn the tables.
Cheap prices for quality items!
My friend and I ordered: garlic naan, raita, veggie masala, spinach and mushroom sagwala, an order of rice and two chai tea lattes. The bill (with tax) was $28.
It's not often that one finds a place that is both inexpensive and offering high quality foods. Often businesses will compromise on quality to give customers affordable prices or will hike up prices to provide quality ingredients. Agra cafe succeeds in both delicious plates and fair prices.
I seldom eat Indian food because as much as I love it, it can be a bit heavy and loaded in cream sauces. But I felt great after my meal at Agra. The food wasn't do heavy that I went into a food coma. I just wish Indian cuisine had a bit more salad options. I like my fresh greens, but a wide selection of vegetarian options made up for it! -

I have been ordering Agra for delivery twice a month for the past year, and it's terrific.
But I want to write about their soup. A few weeks ago, I was sick at home and didn't have the energy to drive anywhere, so I decided for the first time ever to order soup for delivery. And after I got better I kept ordering it.
The vegetable, chicken, and mulligatawny soups are fantastic. I order them all medium spicy, which is plenty spicy, but when you have a cold, you can't beat the chicken soup. Gigantic chunks of chicken and potatoes, lots of veggies. But it's the broth, that spicy, pepper-y broth, that is just the thing for clearing out your sinuses and making you sweat out some of those toxins. Amazing and highly recommended. -

I was really pulling for them.
A friend had a delicious meal there recently but noted that she was the only person in the dining room at lunch time. I was hoping this was just an undiscovered gem and even with all the negative yelp reviews, there were plenty of positive ones too.
We had food delivered, which took less than an hour on a Saturday night and I think I'm the outer edge of their delivery area. Not bad at all!
We tried the vegetarian dinner for two with cauliflower, saag paneer, rice, samosas, onion bhajee, rice pudding, naan and then we got a dinner of chicken tikka masala and the two veggies of the day (lentils and cauliflower/potatoes). We opted for mild since I'm used to "mild" Indian food still having a little kick.
The good: the veggies of the day were fabulous, especially the lentils. The tikka masala sauce was also delicious.
The average: most everything else. The cauliflower was cooked within a centimeter of its life though the flavor was good. The chicken in the tikka masala was dry. While I love spinach and cheese in any combination, the saag paneer wasn't bad but if you presented it to with a blindfold, I'd be hard pressed to identify it as anything other than creamed spinach like my mom makes. It lacked any spices. I forgot to order raita but fortunately, there was no need for any cooling down with the lack of spice.
The bad: The onion bhajee and samosas were all greasy. Not sure if they pre cook them and then fry them again when ordered but it seems like that may have been the case. The bhajee were way over cooked, yet soggy. None of this mattered though, they were too salty to eat anyway. I bit into a samosa and wow, the overwhelming ginger flavor was all I could find there. I found myself grabbing the bhajee just to rid the ginger taste. The naan were dry and had sort of a flour dust on them.
I'm sad. My search for a good Indian restaurant which delivers to my house continues. -

Studio City, CA
This was the first Indian restaurant I ever went to, and it definitely spoiled me. It's Zagat rated, with the food to back it up. Prices are reasonable and the ambience is comfortable. Things run a touch on the spicy side, so medium is plenty for me. I think when I was here last I ordered a dish with shrimp, and Saag Bhaji - both were delicious. They have really good naan, too. Great place overall, and I definitely wouldn't dispute their claim as "best Indian food in Los Angeles."

Great food great prices- the lunch special is hands down unbeatable. Low key ambiance and family owned business - so I personally don't mind the wait for pickup or delivery since i know small business' that make yummy homemade tasting food with a few employees do their best to make their customers happy - always a great experience here!

2.5 stars.
There were enough positive Yelp reviews that I wanted to give Agra a shot. I probably won't again.
This review is based purely on delivery.
- It took almost an hour and half for the food to arrive.
- I tried chicken tikki masala and matar paneer. The food was pretty bland and the sauces were watery/greasy. The chicken was unusually bright orange. The peas in the matar paneer, however, were definitely fresh.
- The basmati rice was plainer than I've had at other Indian places. The naan was OK, not great.
- The portion sizes are much smaller than Electric Lotus, but similarly priced.
Not terrible, but underwhelming. -

This place is my go-to place for indian food. There are occasions where the quality is n't as high as it usually is, but for the most part the quality is high and consistent. I would give it 5 stars if it was guaranteed an amazing experience each time, but it's often enough for a 4. My favorite meal is the Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special- the vegetable sides are random but always good.

My 4yr. old daughter picked to eat here last night. Boy am I glad she has great taste in food!! I get easily bored with food, so Indian food is always kicks things up a notch.
We ordered the appetizer sampler (which included samosa, onion, bhaji, chicken tikka, lamb tikka and seekh kabob), my favorite dish, green coconut lamb (curry made w/coconut milk mmm!), chicken sagwala (not quite sure how its made but its good), and tandoori chicken (which came w/lamb kabob, idk the actual name), garlic naan and of course, rice. I'm not sure what the complimentary crispy thing is that they give you, but we ate that with the different chutneys on the table. Yumm. . .
Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. However, we were able to taste a little bit of everything. I left feeling more than satisfied. I was so stuffed I probably could've rolled myself home.
Wait staff is friendly. My family drinks A LOT of water, so I loved that we never had an empty glass. The food was aslo prepared very quickly. I was very appreciate because I skipped both breakfast AND lunch.
Note:
There is a small parking lot. I've only had to circle once to wait for a parking because someone parked like an idiot, taking up two spaces, and there were no other spots open. You may have to wait a few 5mins to park during peak hours.
Thank you Agra Cafe!! -

This review is for pickup only. Waited a crazy long time for them to complete the order and was joined by 3 others doing the same, all the while the dining room was empty.
Flavors were good and well executed, better than other local indian places.
Prices were very high for portion sizes. For $30 my wife and I were still hungry after, and we don't need a buffet to keep us happy. More value would put this up a notch. -

This review is about delivery mostly.
We like the food -- mostly but the last time we ordered the delivery guy called us from the street and asked us to come down to the street to get our food. He couldn't find parking and didn't want to risk parking in the red for a minute to run upstairs --- hmmm, isn't that kind of what delivery is all about?
anyway, we called back to complain and basically got shade so don't order delivery unless you have a designated parking spot for them apparently... -

My friend moved to Silver Lake, and this restaurant was nearby his new place. We went on a weekday evening, and it was pretty empty. There was only 1 other table with guests eating aside from us. I love the food we got. We got 2 combos, which was actually a bit too much food. It came with the main entree, rice, raita, vegetables, and naan. They gave us a lot of naan, far more than I had expected. We had the saag paneer and chicken tika masala as the entrees. Both were delicious. I'd come back here for more!
As for service, the waitress that served us was nice but she didn't smile much. One of the other servers that came to our table was a bit more friendly. All-in-all, service was decent/average.
Oh last note... the men's restroom was interesting. It was painted in bright sky blue, and the lights were really bright as well. It felt like I was in the clouds on a sunny day (even thought it was the evening). -

I just tried the Chicken Tikki Massala and I have to say it was amazing! The lunch special is under $10. There was way more food than I had expected to receive. It was so good I ate all of it, but there was enough food to split with another person. Definitely coming back with friends!

Delivery was amazing. Tandoori meats, some standard veg dishes.
Sample size of one...but I can't imagine they're less than 4 stars. The variance of the reviews surprises me! -

We had the Dinner For Two- we chose Chicken Vindaloo (HOT!), Lamb something and Sag Paneer. It was more like Dinner For Eight. We took most of it home. Wow, it's a lot of food- you really do get your money's worth here!
I got full from their cornucopia of appetizers- chicken tandoori, shish kabob (too much cumin! smell was too pungent), some other pieces of meat, onion pakora and a light and crispy samosa to dream about.
Of course we got gulab jamul at the end for dessert. There was no room but I knew I had to just cap it all off with a donut-y death in orange essence and cinnamon honey soup. It was like a tub-stopper at the end of my meal/esophagus.
Add a big bottle of Kingfisher- one of my favorite beers of all time and I can easily tell you I'm swimming more laps this week and not eating another carb for the next 2 weeks.
Thank you Agra Cafe, don't ever change. -

This place is amazing. Fast delivery, great spicy Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan and generous portions. I'm sick of people complaining about small portions. Get a grip.
My boyfriend and I SHARE the dinner portions and get more than enough to eat.
I've never dined IN, but this is a great option for delivery in the Silverlake/Los Feliz area. -
Review from Alex W.
I'm surprised this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating. The food here is delicious. I've had the tikki masala with chicken, perfect balance between the tomato flavor and sweet creaminess. The vegetable curry was hearty and flavorful. And long after we had finished the food in the dish we used our surplus naan to scoop up the last remains of the delicious sauce on the plates. Every dish was literally clean when the bused the table. Can't wait to go back. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try the vindaloo.

Excellent food, actually the best indian i've ever had.
Chicken tikka masala was delicious, light, creamy tomato-ee sauce. Vegetable korma, not too heavy, a little sweet , perfectly spiced.
We will be back for sure -

Los Angeles, CA
Super tasty. They make their spicy dishes actually pretty spicy. Pickup was ready really quickly. Authentic tasting, not at all greasy. Convenient Silverlake location. What's not to like? It's not gourmet and it doesn't have a lot of ambiance, but it's very good food at a reasonable price. I would go here for a low maintenance weeknight dinner with a friend or do pickup/delivery when you don't feel like cooking. I am glad to know of a decent Indian place in the Silverlake area.

Agra is a new favorite. I really like this Indian food. The Samosasare light and crispy (not oily). The chicken Tikka Masala is delicious. The Vegetable Birianyii s so good.I like the Malai Kofta too.
It's all very good.
I highly recommend this place. -

Los Angeles, CA
My coworkers and I went to Agra after reading the mixed reviews on Yelp.
I went into the restaurant with hopes for this mom and pop joint and left with bad taste in my mouth.
Warning: I'm going into my bitchfest.
First, there's banner hanging on the front that says, "All you can eat lunch from 11:00 a.m." So my gang and I assumed it was an AYCE buffet but was surprised to see no buffet table. I asked if the AYCE lunch is available. The female server said that the all you can eat is not a buffet but all you can eat dal and side vegetables (which come as sides with your lunch). Very misleading!
Second, our female server was extremely slow and just "unhappy." We, a party of 4, arrived at 11:40 a.m. with just another table occupied. We couldn't order any food or drinks for 10-15 minutes because our server kept on answering the phone and attending to the other customers as they walked in. At this time, there were two additional servers. We finally got our food after 12:30 p.m., after 50 minutes since we walked in to the place.
Third, although it's AYCE side dishes, when we asked for additional veggies and dal, it took them over 10 minutes to bring as a "dallop" of dal.
Were they deliberately taking a long time to bring the sides since it's AYCE?
Food wasn't bad. Overall, I would have rated the food 3.5 stars. But with the misleading ad, slow service, and not holding up their deal, I left in a bad mood. I try to be more understanding of small mom and pop shops but they still need to meet basic standards. -

Agra Cafe has a good selection of Indian food. Price is a bit high for what it is but we're not exactly in Artesia here. We tried the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. We asked for both dishes spicy and were glad we did- definitely added some flavor. Both were very creamy. Not the most adventurous choices but they were tasty and hit the spot. Naan and rice were pretty standard and tasted good as well. This place is definitely decent and our meal fed us again the next night.
Solid 3.5 stars- rounded up to 4 because it's nice and close to where I live! The good news is if you're feeling lazy they will deliver. Their online ordering page is a little weird and inaccurate (says meals come with rice & naan at dinner.. but that's only the case at lunch). Luckily we called instead and got things sorted out. If you don't live close you'll be happy to know there is a nice big parking lot and lots of street parking on Hoover if it is ever full for some reason. They accept all credit cards- even Amex. -

Food is amazing!!
But if you get to go or delivery you must be sure to tell them you need a few sides of the chutney, either the green cillantro one or the sweet one. but seriously you need to tell them to give you more than one each. It not enough.
but YES so good -

Love this place!
My boyfriend and i ate here while we waited for our laundry to dry at the laundromat next door. I wasn't expecting it to be great considering the location, but inside it's actually quite pleasent.
We had meat samosa's to start which were good, just little fried pockets of spiced meat and peas, nothing special.
For dinner we ordered the Lamb Saag, which was excellent! The flavors were deep and the lamb was spiced and cooked perfectly, it seems like alot of time and attention goes into their food, at least the lamb. It came with cheese naan which was also delicious. The other lamb dishes on the menu also looked excellent and were definitely reasonably priced for lamb. Especially considering I have had vegetarian Indian dishes at other restaurants in the area that can run 13 - 15 dollars for a plate of garbanzo beans and lettuce...
can't say too much for service considering the place was totally empty. the food came out fast, our water glasses were never less than half full.
They do have an extensive menu and what seemed like a good lunch special and they deliver in the area. what's not to like? -

My husband and I have been looking for a good Indian restaurant near Silverlake for quite a while. Finally we found Agra Cafe! The delivery was fast and food was amazing. I ordered Chicken Saag and it was delish! The Chicken Curry was good too...will definitely call in or check out the place soon!

It took two hours for my food to reach me when I ordered at 6:40 and I'm pretty sure it would have taken longer if I hadn't called and complained. The delivery guy obviously didn't even bother looking up where I lived. He was rude when he arrived and my food was luke warm.
The food is ok but honestly, it's not worth the annoyance of dealing with the delivery guys.
If you're going to order, order for pick up and don't expect good service -

Very torn about how to review this place. The chicken tikka was 1-star. I took two bites and threw it out.
You know when you were a kid, and you took silly putty, and made impressions of newspaper comics on it, and it was so awesome!? And then you squished it all up again, and the whole blob turned the color of dirty snow?
Yeah, the chicken tikka was that color and texture. No good.
The bartha, on the other hand, was phenomenal. 5-star. So hot, so spicy, so gooood. I mean, truly incredible.
I am torn! Do I split the difference? Does a stellar dish make up for an inedible one? 3 stars for now. I may have to go back and try other vegetetarian dishes....Listed in: Los Angeles Indian Food

Already being a huge fan of Indian food, and then having recently traveled throughout India, Agra Cafe satisfies my cravings perfectly.
I am a huge fan of Tika Masala, and I recently tried both the chicken and the lamb versions. The lamb was amazing. I hadn't had lamb since my trip, and this was definitely up to par. (at least close!)
I have been twice only, both with a good friend, who always gets Chicken Curry at any Indian restaurant he goes to. He left the leftovers at my place accidentally, but thankfully I got to enjoy them, and he's right when he says it's amazing.
I live in the area, so this will be a much frequented dinner stop. Fans of Indian food, this is a must try. -

I am really starting to think, that most of the people on Yelp, either have no taste, or are just pretentious a-hole's begging for someone to validate their pathetic existence.
This place is great, the staff is friendly, the food is great.
They are ticked away in the corner of a little strip mall complex, and you wouldn't even know they are there. The naan isn't the best i have ever tasted, but it is still damn good. I think the dinner for two combo for 39.99 is a pretty great deal.
Maybe I'm just a simple dope from the midwest but everybody take a breath, it's a restaurant and it is good. Stop Hatin'! -

I like salt, but not to the extent that this place likes salt.
The service, though, was excellent - which is a good thing, because I really NEEDED my water glass filled 8 (or more!) times to combat all that salt.
salt salt salt salt salt - that's all i have to say about this place. -

I like agra cafe. It's not amazing, but it's pretty darn good. The only unfortunate piece is the serving size. Not huge. Especially the soups. The dahl is VERY good, but small, and $8. Also, it seems you get more if you go in, delivery customers get shafted a little worse.
Don't get me wrong: I go there. It's one of my favorite Indian food restaurants in LA. But, not amazing. -

Ordered delivery from here. It was okay, but really nothing to write home about. Writing on yelp about, however... yes. I'd probably give it one more shot based on some of the other reviews. Maybe the in-restaurant experience would make it worth it.

I would give Agra 2.5 stars.
First of all, they were the only Indian food establishment that would deliver to us in Glendale on New Year's Eve. The delivery was fast, but can't comment on the price since my husband was first to the door and paid.
About the food: We had Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Saag, Garlic Naan, Veggie Samosas, and rice of course.
The highlight was definitely the Chicken Saag. The chicken was tender and moist, the saag was flavorful and thick.
The Paneer cheese was much too hard for my taste, and the Masala sauce was no good, too sweet and not blended/smooth enough.
The Naan was also sub par. Too doughy and flat, not light and airy like I've had Naan before, but flavor was good.
The Veggie Samosas were pretty standard.
The rice was nice and fluffy, but not flavored with cumin seeds or anything else as I've had before.
It was worth it, but I guess the search is still on for some good Indian delivery in my area. -
Review from Nicolle S.
Park La Brea, CA
I have to start off by admitting that I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food. What I've tried, I've liked but I only know what my tastebuds tell me, not what's authentic or representative of a particular region of India or whatnot.
That being said, I really like Agra Cafe, I've tried most everything on the vegetarian menu and it's all good, albeit a little salty at times. Some special faves are the Bombay Aloo, Dal Makhani, Mushroom Sagwala and garlic/basil naan.
We always order our food to-go (I just have a thing about eating in restaurants with TVs) and it's usually ready in 20-30 minutes and is nice and hot when we pick it up. As a bonus, the to-go containers can be washed out and re-used. Sweet! -
Review from Mona S.
Los Angeles, CA
Not exactly the fanciest restaurant but I actually think the Indian food is great here. They have dishes that are made with tofu, which you won't find at most Indian restaurants. They have different variations of traditional North Indian specialties to meet the eclectic needs of the Silverlake population. Plus, $7.95 lunch buffet. In a strip mall.. you can get your nails done next door if you want.
I recommend the sagwala tofu and mushroom sagwala. Cool naans like cheese, parmesan or garlic-basil naan. -

Boy am I torn. For food Quality I'd give this place 4 stars BUT for food value I'd give this place 1 or 2 stars. Let me explain ...
Living in Los Feliz I have been ordering from Electric Lotus for the last 4.5 years. My favorite Indian foods are Lamb Somosas (with Raita), Lamb Vindaloo, Keebli Naan (cherries and almonds inside).
Tonight I ordered from Agra because their prices were lower and it was recommended (example: Lamb Vindaloo is $11.95 at Agra and $15.95 at Electric Lotus ... Electric Lotus also charges about $4 for delivery) Agra gets a 3.5 for it's Vindaloo and Electric Lotus gets a 3. The very best Vindaloo I have had is at an Indian restaurant in Yonkers called Royal India Palace - FANTASTIC!! The Keebli naan (called Paswari naan at Agra) gets 4.5 stars at Electric Lotus and only 2.5 stars at Agra. The portions of everything however, are HALF the size of Electric Lotus when you get delivery (I've never eaten there). When I order Samosas at Lotus I get 3 ... at Agra you get 2. And what is with those small little containers?? Seriously, I ordered Gulabjamon and where in most Indian restaurants you get 3, at Agra you get 2 ... and they put each ball in an individual condiment container.
I see someone else also mentions Crown of India. I live on the east side of Los Feliz and, unfortunately am too far to get delivery from Crown of India but I would have to agree it is tastier food. I have eaten there and really was surprised given the location.
To sum it up, the food at Agra is good ... not great ... but if you get an itch for Indian it's good. However, despite the seemingly higher prices, I do believe the value at Electric Lotus is better. And Louts' food is equal or better in most cases.
If only Crown of India delivered a little further. -

I love the food! Chicken Vindaloo and Garlic Nann...so yummy and very authentic. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because the inside of the restaurant is a little drab and usually pretty empty. I usually order my food for delivery.

CAN YOU GUYS GET A BIGGER SIGN??!! GEEZ...
The parking lot is hell, but with my mad parking skills, I got a spot. Hell yeah..
The food was great. The portions are not too big and the service was ok. The prices weren't too bad either. With an appetizer, rice, naan and my PINEAPPLE chicken curry, (which was fan-fuckin'-tastic) it came out to about $17. I still think Electric Lotus is still the best in town, besides the places in Little India, but this place is a close second.
PLEASE get a bigger sign, guys..
