my first time at agenda. i went for a cd release party with my friend who is a crazy salsa dancer. i felt SO out of place - first, i have never danced salsa in my life. second, i am freaking asian. my people cannot dance. it's okay though, b/c my redheaded friend eased me into it and i had a great time. even got to dance a bit of salsa with a serious salsero!

love the ambiance here. quick service at the bar, great live music, wonderful crowd. i will go back again once i learn some moooooves...

My God is this place loud! Can you hear me OK? Because it's noisy and hot up here! Oh wait, you're reading a Yelp review. So where was I? I came up here while at a party at the quieter and much lamer restaurant downstairs and they gave us access to their Wednesday night Salsa night. Bar is a little bit better up there. Couple extra choices on draft than in the downstairs bar. Crowd was hot. Unfortunately, so were the temperatures! Could someone please pay Agenda's AC bill? It could be a really good club if it didn't have this kind of out of the way downtown location. Not to mention a bit of AC on a hot night. Save the heat for the salsa dance floor.

Back in the day this was one of the more happening places in downtown SJ. With the mass renovation and cleanup of the area it's fallen a bit to the wayside .They still have a nice outside area and some of the bartenders can still make a solid Belvedere martini, so it's not all bad. I guess it does however depend on what night you decide to show up.

This review is for the Wednesday Salsa nights, I have no idea about the quality of their drinks and food. I had been hearing about the Agenda's salsa for quite a while but had always been too lazy to go down to SJ to dance on a week night. This Wednesday my general motivation level was unusually high so I decided to go and check it out. Got there around 8:20 and most of the street parking was full, but I got lucky and found a spot 2 blocks down. Paid my $5 and went upstairs to the dancing area. Guy to girl ratio looked good, about 1.2 to 1. The dance floor was unusually long and narrow which made it difficult to see the instructors if you are at either end of the dance floor. The class was kind of lame since there wasn't a separate beginners' and intermediate class. The instructor went from the basic steps straight into an unimpressive pattern. When the music started it was way too fast for practicing and rotation happened sporatically, anywhere between 30 seconds and 10 minutes. And the people here, ah...the people here was what really ruined the experience for me. The creepiness factor was definitely high here. There were several guys there who just didn't look like they were there to dance if you know what I mean. During one rotation the guy who was supposed to take over my partner ran diagonally across the room to snatch up this blonde chick on the other side. He basically pounced the poor girl. Several guys just seemed way too eager to give out "private lessons", incessantly trying to correct their partners. Some of the ladies seemed to have forgotten their gums or mints at home. I got the hell out of their after the lesson and never looked back.

If you want have a good, relaxed and just overall fun time dancing salsa I highly recommend going to Alberto's in Mountain View instead. Plus Pantea is a much better teacher.

This place is okay for being like a second-choice spot across from club Wet.

The atmosphere is pretty hip once people start coming in.

The video they were playing on the back screen was some lame 80's/90's black dance club shit though.

The drinks were pretty expensive, but made very well. 2 AMFs and 1 kamikaze came to $28. It was $7 for a single blow job shot.

Breezy productions made the experience as good as it was though. The DJ kept the place hopping.

But on the negative side, someone swiped my digital camera from my guy's back pocket. Plus, a fight broke out that led to a spray of blood trailing the floor. That's ghetto. Plus, there was no photo coverage like was promised.

Anyway, I don't have any pictures to add because of my missing camera. Whatevs.

We had half an hour before heading to see "Every Christmas Ever Told" at SJ Stage Co (which was terrible, btw) and were looking for a quick bite to eat. There weren't many options within a block radius, so we tried our luck at Agenda. Not very busy for dinner on a Friday night, we walked over to the bar and asked if they served food at the bar. They did, and we told them that we were in a big hurry and basically had only 20 minutes to dine there.

Both the manager and the bartenders were super accommodating, and pointed out the quickly prepared items out on the menu. We decided to get an order of the calamari and pot stickers, which were great for tying us over for a while. The food was prepared and served within 5 minutes. Both were really tasty. The calamari was flash fried and served in a huge fried won ton, so both dishes were Asian inspired.

We also ordered a couple cocktails, and were in and out in exactly 20 minutes. Now that's awesome service!

Agenda is just one of those spots that you are going to love or hate on the random nights you go. The vibe seems like it is always changing.

The layout is REALLY cool when they have all three floors opened up. If you don't like being stuck in one area, you can also work off some of those calories from your Crown and Redbulls. =) With Wet open across the street - I really doubt it will ever be full enough to need all three area's open. As long as there is a bar, not to far away, I'm good.

My favorite night to come is on Sundays for the dancehall/regga. The friends hate going out on work nights so that's a rarity for me. Most other nights its just Hip Hop/Top 40 stuff. Occasionally they will have an old school night downstairs in The Cellar.

Here are some more quick highlights:
Crowd: Mid 20s to very early 30s. A LITTLE older than your normal SJ crowd.
Drinks: Not WET expensive but not Jack's cheap. LOL, last time I went, the bar was so slow but the bartender was HELLA rushing me. WTF is that about.
Music: Some nights its good - most, its very OK.
Extra Wisdom: WATCH OUT FOR SWARMS!!! (LOL. ;) Message me if you need further detail)

So I'm going on this mini yelping spree for nightclubs because I thought I already talked about them. Anyway, judging from the photos it looks like they finished up sexifying the facade.

I came here with some friends from UCI for a birthday celebration. Little did I know that I would also run into some cool kids from high school that I graduated with.

From what I remember the place didn't look all that. Basic decorations, and nothing really stood out to me. Actually they had a couple pool tables taking up the back section of the dance floor haha. Crowd was mostly Asian people, with the typical more guys than girls vibe. Music on a Saturday night was mainly hip hop and r&b stuff, so I was fine with that. Security was nice enough to let my group sit in a reserved VIP that no one was sitting in, so that is always a plus.

As far as drinks go, some drinks were actually a lot cheaper than others. It was a mater of guessing I suppose. All I know was that Tokyo Teas and AMFs were around only 5 bucks each. So ask the bartender what the specials are to avoid yourself from going broke faster.

3.5 stars since I wasn't really felling the vibe and the crowd was just whatever to me, standing around and such. I guess this place is competing with Motif and Wet nowadays, but its nice that its separated from the dirtier/more crowded area of downtown SJ.

Holla front for getting in for free at midnight with my VIP Agenda Card that they gave us after the KRS-ONE show a few weeks ago.  Saved me and my homeboy $15 each.

But god damn son.  I felt like I was walking on the floor of a nymphomaniac adolescent boys room.  That floor was so freakin sticky icky with beer spilled all over it.  Damn wedding party drunks.  Who the hell has a wedding party at Agenda of all places?!  At least be more classy and do it like at Wet or Vivid if you gotta settle for Downtown Man Jose.

But damn.  Last night was hella sausage festivities.  I guess a lot of girls are allergic to temperatures below 50 degrees outside and just stay home.  I'll give the DJs props though for playing some koo music.  And like VooDoo Lounge and Temple in Downtown Man Jose, Agenda's usually got good DJs spinning on Hip-Hop nights too.

But god damn...Too many sausages!  If I wanted to go to the meat market, I would've just got drunk at home for free and logged onto MySpace.

But yeah, another negative on Downtown Man Jose, is a group of 4 decent, not that ugly nor hot looking girls dancing by themselves and one of our homeboys with a girlfriend just comes up straight up to them and was like we're just trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good time, would you ladies like to dance with us.  Not even hitting on them.  But these girls gave a straight up bitch remark back like they was some hot shit and their shit don't stink.  Maybe that's a reciprocal of the Man Jose effect?!  I guess that's why those same girls are always crying and bitching about getting fucked over by guys, cause they want guys who lie to them and cheat on them, vs. just being straight up.  Breezies!

I understand the concept of GNO (girls night out), but how about the concept of GUYS NIGHT OUT.  And no!  Guys do not dance with each other like how girls do, but we all kind of do at the club when we make circles and dance by ourselves getting all hyphy and poppin our collars and what not, since there's no girls to dance with, or they're too good to dance with the opposite sex cause they got to keep their GNO strictly to the girls, even though they decided to go out in MAN JOSE.  Man Jose I tell you, too bad so sad.  -  Can a brother get some love?

San Jose has 17% more men than women amongst it's population.  So it's roughly 41.5% women and 58.5% men.  And with a population of roughly 1,000,000, that translates to about 170,000 more men (that's a lot of sausages) than women living in this city, which is a good means to thus rename San Jose to MAN JOSE.

But yeah, kudos to the bartender for only charging me $10 for a shot of Patron and a Blue Moon on tap, when he was charging everyone else $10 per shot of Patron.  But oh well, he made me get an extra drink with their $10 credit card minimum.  -  One good thing about Man Jose, is that all us mans know each other, so I was able to get trashed with only spending $10 on the night, cause people were throwing shots in my face left and right and calling me a bitch if I didn't take them.  Downtown Man Jose is a recovering alcoholic's nightmare and a broke man's haven to get a pair of beer goggles for cheap.

PACQUIAO COUCH!!!

De La Hoya got Mexicutionized last night!  Golden Boy ain't so golden anymore.

This place is really hit or miss.   Some nights it's packed up the ass with lines going around the corner and people trying to get in through the cellar with a cover charge to match... other nights they're letting people in for free.

Even during my heavy partying days I could never put my finger on which day was their most cracken. But for the most part their music selection on the nights I've gone were always pretty good-- old school, hip hop, r&b, soul..

In spite of me not coming here very often, I hold this place very special in my heart since it's the first 21+ spot I got totally fucked up in over long island iced teas and lemon drop shots.  And yes, I ended up paying for it by the end of the night.

Since it's such a large venue, I'd suggest coming when there's an event being hosted.  That way the place is some what packed and you don't feel like you're the drunkest one on the empty dancefloor.

Oh, a tip for the underaged kids-- unless it really looks like you on the id, I'd advise you to hold on to your precious borrowed or fake ID and use it elsewhere.  I'm of age and they even make me do all the tests-- signature included.  Sure, I may look young but I clearly look like the bitch on the ID.

Maybe it was the night I went, but the enviroment seemed dead and anti mingle.  I noticed many couples and there single friends, yet it only created too many anti-social dance circles.   If it wasn't for the the great DJ and bartenders, this place would be a 1 star.

I would place this in the same category as SJ Bar & Grill. Not a total club scene but a place to have a drink, dance and meet some new people. Very small inside, music was ok. There's a cover charge but you can also get on a guest list. Heard the salsa classes are really good.

I was feeling bloated and skanky since I had just gorged on fondue and happened to be wearing leggings for the first time ever in public. Then I looked around the line and realized I had nothing to worry about. Not a very good looking crowd.

On the dance floor, a fight broke out and suddenly it felt like I was in a running of the bulls or something. WTF.

On the plus side...the drinks are pretty strong and there's plenty of seating available around the dance floor. But I don't think I would come here again. So on goes the search for a decent SJ club...

The lighting was dim, the walls red and it smelled of musky furniture and vodka.
The crowd was sparse but everyone who attended was there for a reason.
It had the vibe of a social gathering of a similar interest than a dance party at a nightclub.
Most of the goers were intermediate salsa dancers but there were a few who were shy of the dance floor.
Clusters of friends and acquaintances sipped their alcoholic beverages.
Most eyes were directed to the dance floor, directed to anyone who moved gracefully.
I observed a beautiful petite Venezuelan girl talking to a shorter Spanish man about how to move his hips and shoulders. As she explained to him the steps, she stood by his side while showing him the art of salsa

I usually go to Agenda for salsa class on Wednesday. Great for salsa. instructor is cool and helpful. basic class starts at 8pm. As the time goes by so does the level of the dance. After the class you are free to dance with any one available and some people are helpful in teaching you steps and correcting your mistakes.  I haven't been here other than wednes, so I have no idea about weekends or so.

The crowd here is super-ghetto and AGGRESSIVE. And when I say ghetto, I don't mean ghetto as in San Jose compared to San Francisco ghetto, but rather ghetto even for San Jose. You have some shady shady characters that come here (guys AND girls). It's like a grown-up SJSU frat party.

I was standing near the bar when I felt something splash on my foot. I looked over and there was a guy puking his guts out in the corner. Ewwww!

The club is also pretty small and poorly ventilated, which means you'll be sweating all over your weekend's finest attire before the evening is over. And with only one bathroom stall per floor, you'll spend plenty of time waiting in line to use the toilet.

Why not one star?

- Bumpin' music
- Place to sit down
- Good bar service

Hmmm. This place was so-so. I've been to some pretty shitty clubs in SJ, so in comparison this wasn't the worst experience I had.

A friend and I hopped into line and waited about 20 minutes to get in. We were a few minutes too late to make their guest list, which was annoying and had to shell out cash to get in.  There weren't many friendly people in there, and I didn't quite dig the music they were playing. The drinks are really strong, which is a plus.

Most of the dancing here is more crowd humping, and I spent most of the night trying to perfect my evasive maneuvers. (Mental note, work on these skills more.) I ended up trying not to be a bitch to someone who wouldn't go away, tried to avoid the fight on the dance floor, and not melt from the heat.

I don't think I'll be going back here and I wish they would stop spamming me with their events.

I went here once when my friend was throwing a party. Cool spot (for San Jose) - super chill and laid back.
They have 2 floors which is a good thing as the 1st floor is quite small. It's not a club though, it's a lounge so it makes sense.
I'm not one to party in San Jose and don't really like the scene there so 3 stars means A LOT.

I come here on  Wednesday nights, their Salsa night, on the second floor.

Disclaimer :
My friends Edmundo & Ruby Rumbera are the teachers so this review Might be biased.... but hey what in life isn't???

OK, now the review:

Agenda has the BEST FLOOR to dance salsa.  I know about floors and dancing.  I don't dance salsa with SPECIAL salsa shoes.  I dance with 4 inch high heels shoes. This is that perfect type of floor that you need to dance salsa.

The crowd here takes their salsa dancing very serious.   Most of the people who come here are salsa teachers and/or part of a salsa dance group.  Most come regularly on Wednesday night.  So the vibe is very friendly.

I can come here all alone and I will know someone and I will definitely dance all night..

But there is no HEAVEN on earth!!!  It gets really crowded and the dance floor gets DANGEROUS!!     I have battle scars to prove it.  I have been stepped on so hard (2 times and counting) that they have drawn BLOOD, no joke!!

I am a warrior at heart !
I will keep going and dancing my salsa!!

This is a review for Wednesday night salsa lessons @ Agenda:

The Agenda Lounge is the best place to go salsa dancing in the South Bay on Wednesday nights.  Located in downtown San Jose, the Agenda definitely has a more club/bar atmosphere to it than most other salsa venues in the area, with a full bar that serves alcohol.

Beginner lessons here start around 8pm, with intermediate patterns at 9pm, and free dancing until 2am.  Cover charge is just $5.00.

You really get a diverse crowd here, with a mix of experienced and beginner salsa dancers, regular club goers, members of the Mexican community, and college students (during the school year).  They play bachata, merrengue, and cha cha music here, in addition to salsa, so if you're planning on going, you might want to brush up on your latin dances.

My only complaint is that this place usually gets very packed, especially after 11pm, so you need to grab a partner quick, and watch yourself on the dance floor, so as not to get stepped on.  Other than that, this place is a great venue, with cheap beer, great music, and a good crowd.

Overall, I give this place 3.5 stars.

I actually like Agenda. I've been here a few times and some friends have thrown events here.

They always have good music to dance to.
Good drinks but I dont usually remember how much they cost. Bartenders are nice.
I always make friends in the bathroom--also dont remember much.
I like the 3 levels (when they're all open) so you can always find a place to dance--just be careful of the stairs.
Usually no dress code or they're very lax about it.

This place is pretty chill if you're into the mainstream SJ... but it's got a hidden gem hidden underneath.  The owner runs this side venue called The Cellar which is technically still part of the same venue and all that but they have alot of side events that are incubating.

One of them is BLUR run by the tightvibes crew (http://www.tightvibes.com) and it tends to be a younger crowd.  Its definitely a breath of fresh air out in the downtown SJ with all of the same music pounding of all the clubs, BLUR is more about indie/electro and that kinda dance music.

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!!!
=======================

--------agenda lounge paragraph--------
good venue, lots of charm and character.  lots of brick out and inside.  has basement, main floor and the lounge upstairs.  enough seats.  guinness on tap and pool table (upstairs).  cool bartenders (if you want your drink strong, tell them).  medium sized dancefloor upstairs, main floor, and small in the basement.  bouncers are hit or miss.

--------reggae/dancehall paragraph--------
sundays is reggae dancehall.  has been for so many years.  pretty good, but, not as vibeful back in the robert rankin/spliff skankin days (in the beginning).  but it's sooooooo relaxing to know that the original owner, a straight up asshole, is long gone and 2 new guys are on the scene running this prime real estate in the sofa district.  new ownership, comes more reggae?  yessssssss!!!  i think it's one friday a month (it just started).  not sure which friday it is though - i'll update this in a bit.  maybe, now that asshole is gone, we'll get robert and spliff back on the decks for us to wind-it-up-on-de-dancefloor-SIN!!!  when monday is a holiday, all floors are open AND jam packed!  get there early, like 10pm if you don't want to wait in line and jeopardize your entry due to a packed house.  any later, wait in line.  after 11, good luck.

--------history paragraph--------
krs 1, slum village, guru (of gangstarr), jeru, dwele (yes he was here), ?uestlove, pete rock and countless special guest dj's.

I took a star off after they reverted back to only having a DJ upstairs and no longer have bands on their salsa nights downstairs as of Jun08 : (

In and of itself, it's not a bad thing, but like I said before, if there is no live band, the downstairs remains closed and makes the upstairs even more crowded.

===Edit===

I'm not sure if it's exception to the rule or if it's always like this but San Jose women dress so much nicer when heading out salsa dancing than the women in SF. It's nice when you're dancing with a woman who gets herself all dolled up for the night - it justs adds to the visual effect of the dance as others watch from the sidelines (hot outfits ladies!)

There are two floors (not sure if both are always open). On their salsa nights (Wednesdays) upstairs has the DJ (salsa, merengue, bachata etc.) Downstairs had the live band (cha-cha, salsa in between sets - also, not sure if they always have a live band). There was a $5 cover but with a flyer, it was free before 11pm (I'd actually be in favor of raising prices if it would curb the traffic down).

The dancefloor downstairs is so much nicer than the one upstairs and it also seemed less crowded (even more so if you don't mind dancing in the aisles up front or in the back). There is self coat check upstairs in the back across from the bar (below the flatscreen television).

This place attracts the best dancers in the area and if it's packed you'll have to fight to keep/get space. I recommend getting there early so you can have some space and also let the ladies sample some of your goods on the dancefloor - later on, they'll come by looking for you.

As for the classes: Do not come here expecting to learn salsa from the classes - anyone can tell you that. 1) It's $5 - you get what you pay for. 2) It's crowded - no individual attention and you can barely see the instructors.

What can I say? I had a great great time!  What an eclectic mix of people and music. Everyone was coming and going and It was a ton of fun. I guess Friday is a good night to go, it was packed.

I could tell it was San Jose Pride this weekend because I saw it all - every single type of person you could imagine was there. From Lesbian grandmothers to just popped out of the closet twinks. And a ton of straight people too.

I guess it is a straight bar? I went with cousins and some friends and we all piled in and settled in, the different areas, up, down middle were all fun. Music was all over the map, but I must admit I think I liked almost all of it!

No doubt we will be back!

I don't know how many times I have almost made it here for salsa.  For one reason or another I never make it.  There was a get together set up for a professional group I belong to so I decided this time I would go.  I arrived at 8 for the beginners lesson.  We went over the basic step, inside turning, outside turning and wrap arounds.  After the lesson the floor opened up for the freestyle dance.  I got a lot of practice as soon as I left one partner to take a rest on the side another guy was approaching with his hand out.  As the night went on the really good dancers started showing up is was great to watch.  My hips are sore and I can't wait to go back.  Guess who found a new hobby.

I used to come her back in my pre-sexy mama phase...I never came to dinner as I didn't quite make it as we were still getting hoochied out...that no time for dinner...

We went on Thursdays for Hip Hop and Sundays for Reggae.  Then once in a while they will have live bands.  I would go if it was Felonius or Native Elements..  It's cheap to get in unless there's a special event...

Make sure to get the VIP card...you get in free plus ONE guest.  They renew yearly, so if you are an old card member...get renewed this Friday or Saturday...OR print out this pass and get in for free (before 11pm)

If you're not 22 and under..... do not go here.  You will feel like a total cougar.  Plus the bouncers are assholes and if you want to smoke a cigarette, you have to smoke outside infront of the club and then wait in the damn line again to get back in.

I think its time the Agenda gets a face lift and name change.....

I'm going to tell you it wasn't my type of scene.

But there was so much traffic coming in and out and people can be rude.

The club itself was decent, it was able to carry a vibe. Was there just tonight on Easter and the reggae was flowing while you can smell the herbal essence in the air.

But other than that, coming without an agenda made me have one when I left...

...to go get drunk somewhere else!

Since I've been trying to learn to salsa dance lately, a few friends and I went to Agenda for their Wednesday night salsa lessons.  This is the 3rd place I've tried, and definitely the worst of the three, and the only one of the three to charge.

Problems with the lesson:
- No MUSIC through most of the lesson.  How are you supposed to learn to dance to the rhythm of the music if they only play one song during the entire hour-long lesson?

-Level not for beginners.  The first 10 minutes may be for beginners, but after that they segue into more intermediate moves, without showing the more basic moves that lead to them.  When a student asked to see the basic move that would lead you to the intermediate move, they showed us twice, then moved on.

-No line of sight.  If I'd wanted to learn the intermediate moves, I wouldn't have been able to, since I couldn't see the instructor, and I wasn't that far away from him.

-Constantly pausing.  Salsa is an 8 count dance, but the instructor constantly counted on 3 steps and made you repeat those 3 steps over and over again, then went on to the other 3 steps, rather than learning the full 8 step pattern and practicing that, as in other classes.

For anyone interested in taking a beginner class, I highly recommend the lessons from J Smooth Salsa on Thursday nights, at the Miraido Studio in Japantown, they are free and the teachers explain everything wonderfully.

Problems with the venue:
-Plastic cups.  Admittedly, most people might not care, but I dislike the use of plastic cups in all of their drinks, and all I can think is that I sincerely hope they recycle them, otherwise there are a ton of plastic cups heading into the landfill from this place, daily.

-Smoke.  This is by far the worst part of the night, for me, at least, as I am severely allergic to tobacco.  While there was no smoking in the club, there were 2 men smoking right outside the front door, which is kept open, and which the smoke flows right through.  After a while in the bar I started coughing badly, and that was when I noticed the smell of the smoke.  Needless to say I had to leave, and have ended the night having to use an inhaler and allergy medicine, and still feel horrible.

I will definitely NOT be back to this venue!

Not all that impressed. The night I went it was pretty dead, the music was okay, but what saved the night was everything behind the bar was only a buck. So instead of having a good time dancing and people watching i got tipsy. So bad music, no crowd, and $1 drinks equals 3 stars.

Ok, a perfect example of why we need more black folks on Yelp reviewing spots.  If you want to know where the majority of Black folks are at in San Jose.. they are here at Agenda.  I'm not sure you'd be ready for it but the #1 time to visit would be on a Sunday where the following Monday is a holiday.  I might not head back to San Jose for much but I'm there on those Sunday's.  When it's crackin they have 3 floors... upstairs, downstairs, and basement... sometimes they'll have a reggae band playing outside.  It's a place to have fun, dance, shoot some pool, lounge, and most important... drama free.  Which means they welcome non black folks as well ;0)

If you like to dance to Reggae, dance hall, and hip hop... Agenda is the place to be when in San Jose.  Again, the best time are on the Sunday's I described above.

Friday's and Saturday's are a toss up with every other club in San Jose (hit or miss).

Plenty of free parking in the area as well.

I went here for my friend's 21st birthday. It's a small place with a small dance floor and decent-sized full bar. A little ghetto, but you gotta embrace that ghettoness of Downtown San Jose right?

I had a blast here, mainly because literally 90% of the people there were people I know. I think I blew away tons of money by buying shots for people, but it's alllll good. The music was pretty good, and the bartenders were quick. Not that much seating, but enough to catch your breath in between dancing.

A few years ago I used to frequent the downtown area of San Ho with my then boy toy. However (and between you and me), I'd rather haul my ass 45 minutes into the city where shit is jumpin' a helluva lot more than San Ho where the night may be as lonely as a wolf howling at the moon (no offense SJ residents).

But last week my girls convinced me to take a trip to Club Agenda to see my boy MC with his group, Marvel Team. The club is this upstairs quaint, dark wood, velveteen-upholstered spot, complete with a medium-sized dance floor and mini stage and an immaculately kept pool table. The bartenders were heavy-handed, with the exception of one (a tall, skinny-ass white boy with bleached-out hair) and normal prices. Most of the music is hip hop and draws a rather hardcore underground hip-hop crowd. But, if you're not feeling the music you can always go across the street to a couple of other digs that looked more techno/house.

All in all I had a good time. And, as always, one too many drinks.

I went here on a Saturday night and had a pretty dang good time for a good number of reasons:
a) guest list before 11pm, no cover, whoo hoooo
b) pretty nice staff, bouncers is always a plus
c) drinks were on target strength-wise
d) music was bumpin (if you're into hip-hop and some old school)
e) crowd was pretty fun that night

And there were some bummers too. Heads up on:
-getting there early (haha) because it's DEAD, awkwardly dead. They didn't even have music playing...
-bathrooms were dirty at the BEGINNING of the night
-slow bartenders
-sausagefest

Definitely a place to check out at least once, but it won't be worth it if you have to pay cover. AND bring your own crowd of course =)

Bars and clubs are really as only as good as the friends you go in to.  The djs were decent, the drinks were okay.  The place of course is a bit crowded and the music they play on Saturdays are usually "hyphy" music.  So if you're that type this place is for you.  Not too many beautiful people dancing though.  I'm  a dancer...
The plus side to this place is the large patio for smokers and the heat lamps outside.  There are two bathrooms one upstairs and one downstairs so that's always good.

Not worth the $10 cover, drinks weren't horribly priced, and the music upstairs was better than down.  The crowd was a mix.

It is good for singles. It has good ambiance, good music (Friday's and Saturday), diverse crowd. The dance floor is dimly lit (which I prefer), and it gets packed around 11:30ish.

Girls will let you know that they would like to dance with you, by either backing into you or by asking you to dance with them.

I prefer this place over:

1. Glo: Too big, brightly lit (Glo), and less personal
2. Voodoo,: Nice but larger dance floor.
3. Toons: Segregate women from men. Women dance on the stage and men are hanging all around it. I visited it twice and saw fights break out both times.
4. Angels: Too big. lighted big dance floor. Uptight people.
5. Zoe: I went there a couple of times and it did not have too many people.

The bartenders are nice, and this establishment is very well kept.

Nice ambiance. Helpful staff. Good food and presentation. Reasonable prices for the area. Some dishes were Waw! Others were good enough like any other Italian restaurant.
