Fresh and tasty with wonderful flavors to tantalize your palette
When we arrived after finding this from my GPS I was surprised to see that they had a fenced off, covered outside dining area which looked very modern and chic (Think South Beach Miami). The weather was fine for outside dining and the location seemed inviting, however the strip mall was blaring music from its outside speakers and the dining area for Agave Azul also had speakers competing with Latin music of some flavor and because of this I decided we should eat inside. When you open the door you will be pleasantly surprised by the look of this place! We were greeted with a smile from the hostess who stands in front of a cool looking waterfall, not at all what I expected from a Mexican Restaurant. The décor is wonderfully delightful with its modern twists of brushed metal and glass with flown tarps for the roof instead of boring ceiling tiles. This is clearly not your average Mexican joint.
As luck would have it we were quickly greeted by our server Hector with a smile and chips, salsa and "Mexican Ranch dip". Much to our delight, the chips are served warm and the salsa was complex with fresh tomatoes, onions and cilantro. We also ordered a side of Verde with our beverages and he was off. We found the "Mexican Ranch dip" to be odd because it is served cold it is a stark contrast to the warm chips.  He returned with our drinks and salsa and I was completely surprised by just how fresh and vibrant the salsa verde was. I ordered a Chimichanga with Grilled Chicken and my wife ordered Agave Fajitas with beef tips and chicken minus peppers add mushrooms.
The Chimichanga was quite large topped with tangy cheese. Flaky and just the right amount of crisp, served on an elongated plate with rice mixed lightly with corn and peas and lettuce, tomatoes, onion, guacamole and sour cream. The lettuce was crisp; tomatoes were ripe and cut appropriately.  The guacamole was chunky, fresh and homemade; I wished I had a little bit more so you may ask for extra when you order to avoid a bad balance. The chicken inside was tender and flavorful and can even be enjoyed without anything else!
The Agave Fajitas hotplate looked extremely inviting. Most places serve up a hotplate with an over abundance of onion and peppers to mask the lack of meat you are receiving. This was not the case. Plenty of tasty chicken and beef so tender it seemed like strips of fillet. Without a doubt the best fajita meat I have ever tasted!
We decided that even though we were stuffed from lunch we had to have the Pastel De Pina which is a warm pineapple upside down cake, served with vanilla ice cream, dusted with coconut shavings and drizzled with caramel! Pure Heaven!!! I included a picture so you will save room yourself.

Our dinner here was OK. The decor of the place was very cool and very different to the usual mexican restaurant decor.

Margaritas were OK. Guacamole was OK. I thought it needed salt and more cilantro. When in doubt, add more cilantro. Always! I thought the chicken tortilla soup was bland. But the steak chimichanga that we ordered was delicious! Nicely cooked steak, right amount of cheese sauce on top and the rice that came with it was really good too.

Service was OK. The margaritas came quick. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and it appeared on our table right away. However, after that, our server never came back until our one soup and one entree were ready about 35 minutes later.

    Overall, not bad, not great.

Every once in a while you come across a restaurant that changes your life.  This restuarant did that for me.  When I say it "changes" my life, I mean that I will make decisions based on this restaurant.  For instance, I will not eat lunch if I know I'm headed down to the Mall of Millenia or the outlets, just so I can go here to eat.  We live in Seminole County, so this is a HIKE for us.  But, it's worth every penny of gas that I spend getting down there.

The fresh guacamole is AMAZING! It's cheap at only $6 or $8 bucks and it has at least 3 avacados smashed in the bowl with crunchy onions, tomatoes and cilantro.  The seasoning is PERFECT.

I have had the quesadillas with chicken and creamy mushrooms which were to die for.  I also ordered the Carne Asada which was fantastic.  My husband has had fajitas and a chicken entree, and both were PERFECTLY cooked.

This also is one of the nicest Mexican restaurants I have ever been here.  The decor is trendy and modern, and it dresses the food up a bit.  However, unlike most place with fun decor, the prices remain cheap & affordable.

Go have some guac and a drink, and spend some time with friends.  It's the perfect restaurant for a weekend night dinner, and it won't break the bank!

Good food. Would have given 4 stars if the guacamole was better but it was lacking spice and and other seasonings I like to notice when eating guacamole were missing. The one thing I can say is that the chile rellenos were amazing I got the cheese ones.

Wow! This place was amazing. I was craving mexican and this place did not disappoint. We were sat almost immediately and greeted by our friendly server hector. If you can you must ask for him, he is right on the ball and knows his sh*t! All of our food was delicious. The homemade guacamole was made to perfection. My fiance ordered 2 shots of some crazy expensive but delicious patron. A must try if you are a fan of good tequila and looking to splurge a little. (66 bucks a pop) overall, everything is reasonably priced and magnificent. (Even the patron that sells for 400 a bottle.) A must try if your in the area and want some great mexican food.

Our last Taco Tuesday was held here and I'm glad it was!  Everything worked out and though the place was packed, the food, service and experience was great!

The salsa had a good consistency and mild for anyone to eat.

I ordered the Quesadilla Guadalajara.  A flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, choice of grilled steak, chicken, creamy mushroom or creamy spinach. Served with rice, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo.   It was a plate full that was for sure!  I had every bit of it!  The chicken I got in my quesadilla was juicy, had some flavor and it wasn't shredded.  It was large chuncks/strips of chicken.  very good!  The rice was moist and typical, nothing special, but tasted good.

As a side I also ordered a soft shell taco with beef lettuce and cheese.  I was thinking it would be a small taco, but I was wrong.  As a test I just said "a taco with beef lettuce and cheese".  She wrote it down, paused, then asked "soft or hard shell".  I know it seems silly, but after all the places we visit, that question is rarely asked.  So, im glad she did. :)

The taco was good and on par with some of my favorite in orlando.  Meat was flavorful, lettuce was fresh and the large tortilla was also fresh. Sweet!

After my food I was stuffed, but some of the others at our table tried the churros.  Which are pastry sticks covered in sugar.  These were served with cajeta and sweet leche dulce.  They looked a little too "sugary" for me, but those partaking said they were delish.  I'll take their word for it. :)

As I previously stated the place was packed, but the service never represented that. Our waitress was on point, kept us happy, smiled and ensured we were satisfied.

    I'll be back!

My co-worker had been raving about this place for a while now and I finally was able to check it out. I now know why he was raving about it!

The restaurant was decorated with vases, waterfalls, and hanging sheet/curtains from the ceiling, giving it a very hip look. I would have never guessed it was a Mexican restaurant by the decor. The place was very clean and very pleasing to the eyes.

The nachos that they bring to your table are excellent. The chips were freshly made and still warm. The white dip that they had was so addicting. I have no idea what it was, but it was really yummmmmy.

I had a huge margarita... the one with a small bottle of Corona is placed upside down in the middle of it. Forgot what it was called, but anyway, it was delicious. I think it was 42 oz. 42 oz of delicious margarita!

Now onto my meal....the enchiladas (with shredded beef) was great. I'm very particular with rice, and they made their rice was amazing. It was surprising to me that I liked it!

Service was great. My boyfriend accidentally spilled a glass of water on me (I definitely was laughing because of the embarrassment haha) and one of the servers came to me right away with towels/napkins to soak up the mess.

Great experience at this restaurant (with the exception of the bf spilling water on me lol) I'll be going here again.

This is a GREAT place to go for Mexican food. Even though they ran out of their AMAZING guacamole. The waitress managed to find one more serving for us (of course it doesn't hurt that two people in our group spoke Spanish.) IT was enough for all 6 of us. I lived in Mexico for several years and let me tell you the guacamole alone is work it.

The drinks were wonderful and the service was super.

This is NOT your 5 star fancy place but its a little nicer then you typical family restaurant hole in the wall. Yes there are a few better places out there as far as the food, BUT it was a special night and we wanted a nice atmosphere to sit in. This has a hip look to it and lots of energy. Loud and fun.

So yes you can find amazing food at other places but the atmosphere at those places is blah and typical family tex-mex style.. I usually don't care, but again tonight was a special group and we wanted to dress up and celebrate.

Also NOT expensive at all - low to middle cost.

Tortilla soup is amazing - reminded me of Mexico.

SO go and have fun! You will enjoy it.

All it took was one visit to Agave Azul and now I'm pretty much riding the bandwagon with this one. This is the perfect place for some Mexican social dining. I mean it's the combination of the hip decor, with the most yummiest menu items, and those bomb margaritas that got this senorita coming back for more. Different nights calls for different specials and music.

Tuesdays- Perfect when you are in the mood for the $2.99 margaritas and just can't wait for the weekend.

Thursdays-Great to feast your ears on a live mariachi band! Too many margaritas during this happy hour and you might be singing along.

Fridays- I specifically love this night because they play non stop bachata. Join this along with a chimichanga and you are set for the night.

Just take a look at all the other reviews..almost everybody loves this place for their own particular reason so go find yours. =]

Stopped here after getting off of work early and wow, what great service!! The bartender was so friendly and even gave us a tip that if we "liked" their facebook page, we could be given updates on any upcoming specials or discounts. And while we were a tad bit too early for happy hour, we enjoyed their lunch specials in addition to our drinks. (After all, I AM addicted to specials!!) hehe

I ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce and a chile relleno and it was exactly the quality I was looking for. No disappointments here. The chips, salsa and the white sauce were all great! (MY God!!! The white sauce....what is that and why does it keep coming back to visit me in my dreams?!? I think it's calling me back to come visit soon....I swear!!)

And as far as their tequila and margaritas....fantastic! They use agave azul tequila (hence the name) which doesn't have that alcoholly burn to it when you take a shot. (The bartender gave us a shot "sample" so we could taste the difference) :)

I'll be coming back again to try some more of their food, and of course, for that white sauce!

Dare I say the best Mexican food in Orlando? It's my go-to restaurant for big party occasions.

I always get the Enchiladas Rancheras. FOR A REASON. Mmmmmmmm

$3 Margarita Tuesdays don't hurt. The salsa dips are good appies, but what is that white sauce? We never know, but we always love it. The waiters are chill amigos. They always split the bills without asking because THEY JUST KNOW. Take advantage of their lunch special if you can, it's a great deal.

Agave Azul is a victim of style over substance. Or are the customers the victims? My head hurts.

Walking in, you'd never guess that this is a Mexican restaurant. It looks like a fancy lounge with the blue decor and modern styling. Not really what I'm looking for in a Mexican restaurant, but maybe you are. The style looks like they're aiming more for the lounge side of things and this is backed up with some nice happy hour specials. The menu reads a little more traditional. It's got all the items you're expecting plus a few more that you don't see very often.

The lunch specials are a great deal - select one, two or three custom items and it includes rice and beans. The rest of the items all seem pretty fairly priced. The portions are nice and large.

Where it all falls down is the food itself. It's entirely forgettable. There's nothing here that really stands out as great or terrible - it's all just very middle of the road. Between our group, we ordered tacos, quesadillas, burritos, juevos rancheros and juevos con chorizo. Everything was acceptable, there just wasn't anything great. The only complaint any of us had was with the beans, which I found to be chalky for my preference.

You can get a nice sized meal for a decent price at Agave Azul - but you may not remember it the next day.

Fun place, immensely popular. We waited 30 minutes for a table on Saturday. Lots of people meet up for dinner here. The atmosphere is festive with music inside and outside, a covered patio and a busy bar. They have margaritas covered, many varieties. A pretty diverse menu also, with plenty of items besides tacos and burritos. The food was good, the best I have experienced here in Orlando.

Ive been to many Mexican places in my life.  Heck, by the look of my last name, you would think I am Mexican.  I went there last night and had an awesome experience.  The salsa and white sauce they give you when you sit down are very tasty and fresh. Started off with the Guac and I couldnt have been happier.   For dinner we had the fish tacos (twss) and chicken enchiladas.  Both portions were large, hot and freaking awesome!  The service was friendly and accommodating as well as just the staff in general.  A "busser" saw that we needed some more salsa and got it for us... who does that?  I highly recommend.

I've been on a Mexican cravings kick lately, and the longing followed me all the way to Orlando. After a long day of running around, we were in the market for some tasty grub. Thanks to Yelp, we found this classy establishment, a few miles from our hotel of choice.

The menu alone blew me away. Extremely extensive, including the drink options. I went with a pineapple coconut margarita. And the place had an upscale feel to it, as well as pleasant outdoor seating.

They brought us chips, salsa and some kind of creamy dip immediately. YUM.

Our server was nice and attentive. I ordered some guacamole fresca, which I'm a total sucker for. It was insanely delicious, and the portion was massive for the price.

I wasn't all that hungry, so I just got an a la carte bean burrito. It was warm, flavorful and totally satisfying.

I would absolutely go out of my way to come back here on return trips to Orlando.

    It's okay.

    Sometimes it's pretty darn good.

    Other times... it's okay.

I've had better Mexican food in Orlando, and certainly cheaper food.  The $3 margarita Tuesdays can be a good time, but service here varies from great to abysmal.  Last Tuesday, my party was seated at 7; we placed our order at 7:45. Oh well.

It can also be kind of loud at night.

In a nutshell: if someone says, "let's go to Agave Azul," I go with no complaints and am happy to eat pretty good Mexican food.  However, I never suggest it.

After a long day at Universal AND outlets, we were desperately in need of happy hour and a quick Yelp search brought us to Agave Azul. I was a bit suspicious of the "Authentic Mexican Restaurant" sign because a restaurant having to declare themselves "authentic" is never a good sign.

Food was alright - happy hour prices definitely sweetened the deal. I think the food specials were around $5 and there were drink specials as well. Nachos were just chips, chicken and a white cheese. The white cheese kind of threw me off, but it was pretty good. "Mexico City' wings were standard buffalo wings and I had a pretty big chicken tostada salad. There was also complimentary chips and salsa that came with an interesting white salsa that was vaguely sour creamy.

Service was good and the decor was on the lounge-y side. Conveniently located to outlets and theme parks. Just don't expect to be blown away by the "authentic" Mexican food.

Wow, the total package!  This is a great place for some tasty Mexican eats.  I've been here for lunch and dinner, great experience every time!

Lunch prices run from $8-15, so definitely not an 'every day' place but the service is quick, you can be back at the office in an hour.

The food is very flavorful, the menu has plenty of the tex-mex favorites and some authentic dishes mixed in.  I had carne asada tacos with house made corn tortillas, cliantro and lime.  SO GOOD!  I also sampled the coctel de cameron, super spicy and delicious.  The tamales did not disappoint!

The food may be simple and delicious, but the place itself is so well put together.  Swanky and casual, all at the same time.  Oh... and the house margarita?  The perfect balance of sweet, sour and salty.  In a word, Yum.

Tally ho! Agave Azul is the best Mexican restaurant in town.

This place completely buries PR's, Garibaldi's and any national chain you've ever been to around here. The upscale decor alone will overhaul your prior conceptions of what a Mexican restaurant can be.

The food is outstanding here! We were a group of six tonight. The house margaritas were a fresh and delightful starter. The chips, guac and salsa were flowing large. We also tried the fundido which proved to be a hit. The entrees came out quickly. I had the Gorditas de carne which were 2 fantastic little handheld pockets of shredded beef joy. Accompanied with charros beans and rice, this couldn't have been better. Carla let me try her chicken mole and it was delectable, I say! Their mole is incredibly rich and flavorful. Meanwhile, Kelly raved about her beef enchiladas. Everyone was lovin' life.

Good service and Holy Guadalupe, the bathrooms! Are we at the Ritz Carlton or que?! Overall an excellent dinner experience. If you like Mexican food or trying new places in general, you owe it to yourself to come here sometime.

*Please note that the following review is wholly based on Agave Azul's happy hour, and while food was consumed, I can not be held responsible for deducing whether or not the food was actually delicious, or if it was delicious because I was intoxicated*

I love love love Agave Azul and their happy hour. Perhaps their outdoor patio doesn't exactly exude glamour, as it sulks in the middle of a Kirkman Road strip mall/plaza, but it sure does make for some pretttty interesting people watching. Especially the poor drugged-up victims that stagger out of the adjacent Greenburg Dental clinic. But I digress...

Margaritas! They are strong. They are decently-sized. And they are cheap. The servers are pretty attentive, although service can be somewhat inconsistent - which, if you are there to just order lunch or dinner, can be somewhat annoying.

Nevertheless, I am giving Agave Azul 4 stars for the following reasons:

    1) Great location on Kirkman & Conroy
    2) Lots of parking
    3) Outdoor seating available
    4) Happy hour margaritas are amazing
    5) Everyone is super nice
    6) They have large spacious bathrooms with actual, shuttered doors! Yes, this is important.

If you are looking for a cute place to have some decent Mexican food (and maybe some drinks) this place is pretty good.

Came here to eat with our kids and realized we were no longer cool. I say that in a good way. There were families with kids, but many of the folks made me realize that this would be a good early with kids (us) or better later with the friends.

They had decent mojitos, but I think margaritas are probably their specialty. Had the tomale appetizer and immediately tried to out eat my wife for them. They were to die for.

I had the special barbecoa (sp?) tacos. They were sublime. A bit small, but I was still stuffed from the incredible chips and salsa. Two types of salsa, both of which were good.

My wife had the burrito mexicano (steak) and it was enough to serve two. She loved it. She would have offered me some, but I think she was still sulking over the tamales...

The twins added nachos to their chip feeding banquet. The nachos were great, but I think we could have done with one order for the two of them. Just cheese and well flavored ground beef.

Our youngest had a taco. He usually finished EVERYTHING, but he was done in by the late night that vacations in hotels usually cause. I think it was good because he plowed away the beans and rice. I think he too was packed with the chips.

I think this would make an even better outing with friends and older families. The ambience and decor was very hip/trendy. I loved the water falls and the classy art.

Off the beaten path, but that's why you search for these types of restaurants. GREAT food, very authentic and fantastic drinks! If authentic is your goal, stop in here!

I've been to Agave Azul numerous times, and each time it's always fantastic. The food is fresh and very reasonably priced. The wait staff are very friendly (Louis is our favorite waiter--always gives good recommendations with a smile!). Even when it's super busy, you typically don't have to wait too long to be seated. The restaurant itself has great decor; my husband always comments on how nice the bathroom is, ha ha. I'd say they have the best Mexican food in Orlando. We always look forward to going back!

Beware of Mariachi Thursdays; if you're not a fan of super-loud music, you won't enjoy this. It's a bit difficult to have a conversation at your table while the band plays, but it's still fun to experience.

Today when I explained the food at Agave Azul to a friend as, "So good it makes me want to forget my manors," I knew I had to write an amazing review for them on Yelp! When I want to treat myself to a nice lunch on a work day, the first place I think is Agave Azul! The atmosphere is gorgeous and the price is extremely reasonable. Plus, for a working lunch, they literally have me in and out in 30 minutes flat! Plenty of time to get back and forth from the office and enjoy a bangin' meal in 1 hour flat! The staff is always extremely friendly, the food is top notch, the decor is modern yet inviting and the location is convenient.  One of my favorite things has to be their "white salsa." I believe it's called "Salsa Crema." I literally cannot stop eating the stuff!

I still want to check out this spot for happy hour and if it's anything like my other experiences, I see this becoming a regular stop at the end of the day!

We went to Agave Azul last night as my wife and I were craving chips and salsa and a tasty margarita.  I think I'm just spoiled. I have been spoiled by fantastic Mexican from Chicago (Rick Bayless), having lived in Denver, and a super small but extremely tasty restaurant in a sleepy town in IL called Bien Trucha. Agave Azul won't rank among the amazing, but it certainly wasn't bad. Our waiter was prompt to introduce himself and asked us for our drinks, my wife had a twist on a traditional margarita that had orange juice and something else in it. I'm not a big fan of sweet alcoholic drinks so I passed on trying it, but she seemed to like it a lot.  I ordered a house margarita and an order of the guacamole fresco. My house margarita was watered down and tasted very much like a store brand mix. I understand a lot of restaurants use a mix for house margaritas, but I appreciate when restaurants actually make the margaritas by hand even for a house (house should just mean the type of booze used not a pre-made mix). Salsa is killer and they give you a crema and a roja. The guacamole was good, but holy hell is it an extremely large portion.  If you are just a couple like we were, you might not opt to get this as the portion size is easily 3-4 people maybe even 5. It is very fresh and tasted very good but could have used a little kick. I'd love to know how many avocados go into one order because it felt like there could have been 5-6 at least.  Needless to say, we didn't finish it. We probably left a little more than a quarter and that's because we felt bad since it would go to waste.  My wife had the chicken tamal and cheese enchilada and I went with the Al pastor street tacos. I had heard the tamals here were good so I tried some of my wife's and it was pretty good. They hand make their corn masa and it shows. Very tasty. My tacos were just OK. The pork wasn't very juicy and was a little over done to my liking. It had good taste though and I loved the corn masa tortillas. If I had a different dish that came with flour, I would ask for the corn instead just because they are so good.  The dish came with "charros beans" which to me equated to very soupy Mexican baked beans.  The side was kind of pointless to me and honestly would have been better without it. Should have stuck with rice and beans. I was really craving more cilantro or something fresh in the dish and was somewhat disappointed. A slaw or something.  We were too full for desert so we passed.

Service was OK. It started off attentive with asking us for our drinks and entrees, and then he pretty much disappeared.  We were never asked if we wanted another drink, how our food was, and the only time we were asked if we were ok was when he dropped our entrees off (thaaaank God because we needed more chips to try and finish the mammoth pile of guac lol)  There was a period of time where we were waiting for water wondering where he was.  The problem I saw was that there were a ton of people on staff running around looking like chickens with their heads cut off, and it really wasn't busy.  We couldn't understand why it took so long for us to get water when there are at least 8-9 people running around.  I really wanted to love Agave Azul simply because of the other Yelpers, but I'm just not impressed. I really hope this isn't the best Mexican Orlando has to offer. I'll be back, but maybe on Tuesday night for 2.99 margaritas.

Overall decent experience! Went on a friday night and was pretty busy, the crew working was super nice and met request to be moved to a new table that was playing the Tampa Bay Rays game 1 of the playoff's quickly and politely.

My girl had large margarita called a "chingon" that also has a small corona beer upside down in the margarita, kinda gimicky but that thing will light you up!! BEWARE when they say "large" margarita they do mean large... I had a frozen lime margarita and it was really good as well.(strong)

The atmosphere is pretty swanky, did not expect the indoor water-wall and Miami'esc lighting, very cool although the music was a bit overwhelming loud.

Food was good, the guacamole fresco appetiser was killer!!! I had tacos al pastor which where a bit fatty and small portion as all you got other than small soft 3 tacos is a small bowl of bean soup but overall decent.

Service was really good, friendly, polite and I will be back there in the future when i come back.
