I love this place! I met up with one of my best friends from college for some skiing in Beaver Creek and we just loved Agave.
Its located right across the street from where we would catch the shuttle to/from Beaver Creek (the "bear lot"). I loved the grilled mahi tacos (on their fresh flour tortillas!) so much that I had them twice, despite all of the other temptations on the menu! (I'll save those for the next trip). My friend couldn't stop raving about the ceviche Caesar salad.
We managed to catch two live shows at Agave during our relatively short trip. One was a jazzy hip hop and the other was more straight-up rock - we had a great time dancing to both! I'm afraid I lost count of how many delicious prickly pear margaritas we consumed :)
Overall, I highly recommend Agave whether you want dinner after hitting the slopes or you want to catch a show and spend the night on the dance floor! In my opinion, the service was impeccable and very friendly. -

Margaritas had a kick. The $1.50 taco Tuesday night is where you want to be.
Parking is a bit tough, seating is tight, but not a bad joint. -

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are other places in the Valley with better Mexican! Go to Fiesta in Edwards.
Horrible. Didn't even get a chance to try the food. My fiance and I came here on Taco Tuesday to see our buddy's band play. A few groups were waiting and we were told 10 minutes for a table of 2. About 15 minutes later two of our friends walked in and we asked to all sit together. He said it would be a few more minutes and we said not a problem. However 30 minutes AFTER this we were less than happy. Ever single party that had been waiting with us AND walked in after had been seated. The host was seating groups only if they exactly fit in the number of seats available at a table. A table for 6 came up and instead of sitting our party, who had been waiting 25 minutes or so, at this point, he waited for a table of 6 to walk in and sat them immediately. When it was CLOSE TO AN HOUR and we were still the ONLY group not seated, and a group of 5 came in and he sat them before us, we decided to leave.
I can understand seating out of order based on party size. I've worked in multiple restaurants as a hostess, server and manager, and completely understand how seating is done. However the fact he wouldn't seat us at a table for 5 or 6 because of the fact there would be one empty chair was ridiculous. Especially when he would then seat people who literally walked in after we sat there for 40 minutes? More than ridiculous, it was down right rude.
On top of the pathetic seating style, we were just mistreated. We were never offered a drink or menus or anything to acknowledge the fact we were quoted 10 minutes but waited almost an hour. About 30 minutes or so into our wait he came by and said, "Oh there's 3 tables just waiting for them to leave." Then 10 minutes later said, "Okay just gave a table their check and am waiting." Then almost 10 minutes after said, "Okay just now gave them their check." .... Do NOT lie to your customers because you feel bad about the wait time. Be straight forward. Be polite. Don't act like a scared teenager working their first job, who has screwed up and was trying to cover it up despite it being in plain sight. You're a grown man. Say, "The table for four is not open, I'm not sure how much longer the party will be there." Anything except blatantly lying to us.
When I finally asked to speak with a manager when the hour mark hit, we'd been lied to and ignored about our wait (in a very small front area, to the point the host and other customers rudely stood between me and my fiance to have conversations, despite the fact I'm in a wheelchair and was unable to move), things got worse. The host insisted he was the manager and when I explained to him how upsetting it was to come in on a moderately busy (if that) night with a very average sized party of 4, and then be ignored, lied to and put aside while every single party that walked in the door was sat before us, he just interrupted me and tried to explain that he was seating people in tables with room for them. I tried to explain I completely understood that and if we had 2 people and the only open tables were for 10 or we had a group of 14 and came in in the middle of dinner that would make sense but we didn't, he then started throwing out "restaurant terms" like "two-top" and started patronising me with the use of sweetheart as he kneeled down to speak to me like a child. He ever tried to say it was because I was in a wheelchair and couldn't sit at some of the tables that everything that commenced was somehow justified.
I don't want to hear about how it's a mountain town or a ski bum attitude. Bull. I grew up in Avon actually, my dad has lived in the townhomes across the street from Agave since the 70s. I remember when the complex was built. Being mad about having to work instead of partying and riding, treating people poorly and saying its okay because its "the valley lifestyle" is garbage. There are amazing restaurants in the Valley. Places that aren't overpriced (much better Mexican at Fiesta in Edwards or Mi Pueblo in Eagle for example) and full of tourists who think that they're getting some sort of local CO experience. The only reason people are there is because of the bands that play. It's just a big playground for seasonal employees who come out to drink, smoke weed and ride while keeping a "job" as a show to get a pass because their parents are actually footing the bill for their little experience.
My fiance and I left and went to Edwards. We went to the French Press where we had amazing service, even better food and the owner sat and talked to us for an hour. That's what local restaurants are about. Not treating customers like money farms, regardless of if they're local or tourists or seasonal. Agave is a horrific example of the Valley and it infuriates me they try to pass this garbage of as some sort of "local thing". The Valley is so much better than this. Please spend your money elsewhere. Support deserving local eats.Listed in: Born and Raised in the Vail…

The service was seriously lacking. The food was very modern/trendy Mexican. Even as someone who appreciates that fare , it was really unimpressive.

No ground beef.
Those three words should set your expectations for this restaurant.
If you prefer the relatively bland shredded beef style of Mexican food, this is your place.
If you prefer the spicy ground beef Tex-Mex style (as we do), look elsewhere.
With that said, the food is reasonably good and we've never had any complaints about the service.
This place regularly has live music and is a popular night spot in Avon. -

We loved the homemade tortillas! Our waitress nicely accommodated a couple of special needs we had and the guacamole was delicious. We would go again if we return to the area.

Place is great! Tacos and Tunes on Tuesday's. Great food, great service, great music, and an awesome staff. They treat locals with love and respect. They also have great lunch specials daily. What more could you ask for?

Food is OK. Pricing is average for the area. They have some good musical acts come through, but don't hire/support local musicians.

I recently went to Vail, CO on a skiing trip with my friend. We ended up going to Agave 3 times during the 6 nights we were there. First off, the food is fantastic. The tortillas are amazing. I've tried the coconut shrimp, paella, and ceviche salad - all super tasty. The drinks were also yummy, especially the prickly pair margarita. If you're feeling daring, try a shot of their infamous rattlesnake tequilla! Finally, the restaurant frequently has bands play. We saw a fun band Saturday night, and another one the following Tuesday. Overall, we had a very good time and I highly recommend this place!

Agave is a great place for some tasty Mexican food! As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by a person making fresh, hot, homemade tortillas. The margaritas were good - very generous portions and the food was delicious. The burrito is massive - it will definitely fill you up!
I highly recommend Agave for some great Mexican food. Looking around, it appeared that this place could possibly turn into a dance club (maybe on the weekends). As I visited on a Thursday night, I did not get to experience "Club Agave"
I dined with a group of 8 and the service was OUTSTANDING. -

I have been to Agave a few times over the last few years, and I say it is a solid mexican restaurant and not a bad choice. Located off of Hwy 6 between beaver creek and arrowhead ski resorts.
Pluses I have noticed:
Nice big margaritas (with options)
Solid food often large portions
Not bad prices
Good service
I have always had a good experience at Agave. Is it amazing? No. Is it good option in this area? Most definitely.
They do have live music often later in the evening during the ski season. They might the rest of the year too, but I have only been there when there was snow. -

definitely a great place to go if you aren't interested in the high priced resort food. the tortillas are handmade by a mom & daughter & oh oh ooooooooooooooohhhhh so good. the margaritas aren't too bad either. the spot has cozy booths downstairs. the food is definitely a good portion so no need to over-order here. the salsa is pretty good too. in the end, i would have to say i had a pretty good time. that's a whole lot of pretty goods from me, so it must be my overall opinion of the place. i would definitely revisit the place if i'm in boulder again.

I thought this place was less than average for Mexican food. It started off great with good salsa and warm tortillas. Our nachos were really good too. However, our actual meal was bland and soggy. No flavor in the enchiladas. Disappointing. I would not go back.

Well so far so good. Great margarita. Mexican traditionale, up. Great menu selection. Salsa is good with just the right amount of kick. I had the scallops dinner entree. It was very good. I enjoyed the place. Margarita was one of the best (signature served up). Little more of a neighborhood feel vs. touristy feel. Good stuff.

They have a Gluten Free Menu, but still poisoned my wife so that leads me to believe that they do not understand the concept of celiac disease. As long as you do not have to eat GF, then the atmosphere is very cool. The chips & salsa are tasty. The house Margarita is a good size and tasty. We had the enchiladas Veracruz. They were super tasty. The guacamole is a must with a great hint of lime. The black beans were good also. We had the sopaillas were very tasty and was told all of this was GF by the manager. It was not stay away if you need to eat gluten free.

This is one of my favorite plaes to eat in the valley. THE best mexican food by far. They have great combinations that have added new flavors to my pallette. This is also a great venue to enjoy a small, intimate show. Amazing margs.

Friday night dinner reservation for 7 (4 adults 3 young kids) at 6:15pm. Seated upstairs next to lounge area. Delicious/large margaritas served in colorful glasses. Entrees were excellent, especially enchiladas suizas! Kids menu available (m&c, tacos, quesadillas). Great service overall. Casual dress. Would recommend to others visiting the Avon area. Short drive from Comfort Inn (Avon location) and the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch.

Good Mexican food. Good local atmosphere. And a great place to see live music. The setup inside is really cool for watching a band.
