Really is an amazing treasure to find. One of those rare places you stumble upon that makes you feel as if you're living out a beach cabin scene straight from a movie!!! Mine was rated xxx but yours can b pg and b great too just not as great

This is a funky (in a good way) and sweet little place in an excellent spot owned and run by very cool people. I'd give it four stars if it had better locks and latches on the doors and windows and if the appliances weren't so odd and if the bed linens and blankets and quilts smelled better. (They smelled like they had been spritzed with febreeze or linen spray rather than freshly laundered).
We stayed in number 7 - a one-bedroom cottage. It's so nice to have a kitchen stocked with everything you need - pots, pans, kitchen towels, even tea and a sweet kettle for you to use. The oven is very small - a suitable size for the cottage itself - but a few of the oven dishes they have there for you to use are too large for the oven itself. We tried to use a lasagna dish. Going in it wasn't a big deal... yes, it fit. :) But, when the dish explanded due to the heat - it got stuck! We had to turn the oven off and wait for everything to cool off before we could remove it. It was actually kind of funny, but still. We were looking forward to a "home"-cooked meal but because of that we had to make other plans. :) We did make cookies in the oven, though, with the cute little cookie sheet they had for us in the room, and they turned out delicious!
The microwave turnable didn't turn. The window in the bedroom didn't lock or close properly. The smoke alarm went off when we made tea. The kettle was missing its whistle. The bedding smelled like Febreeze. The front door only had a dinky door handle lock, no latch or deadbolt. The bathroom door didn't latch correctly so even when it was "locked" you could still open it just by pushing gently. The weather stripping was ripped away from the door frame. The sharp cutting knives were so dinky that we could hardly use them to cut oranges, they kept bending every which way. The walls are very thin - we heard our neighbors scooting their chairs in and out and talking and snoring.
I don't want to just sound all negative, though, or make it seem like the place is a slum. It really isn't. We will be staying there again. I just want others considering staying there to know what to expect! It's not luxurious by any means, but for the most part it is very clean and very fun and certainly cute. (I've added pictures...)
The location is awesome! They have a lighted trail that takes you down to the beach. The lights are kept on until 11pm. Along the way down to the beach there are little viewing decks with comfy chairs where you can relax and watch the sky or admire the ocean views and watch surfers. It seems to be a very popular spot for surfers, and people hunting for razor clams! When we were there, too, there were several bands playing down on the beach and a surf party going on. Very fun. This is a great spot for everybody - romantic couples, families, girlfriends, young and old. Well... maybe not old who have a hard time with stairs. But if stairs are no problem, then this is a great place to stay if you want to save some money but not digress too much.
Tidepooling is very good here, and there are long stretches of flat sandy beach to mosey about. You can also walk to Yaquina Head, and there are other woodsy trails you may take as well. You'll have plenty to keep you busy if you're the active kind, but it's a nice place just to relax and do nothing, too.
Each unit has its own private deck with comfy chairs to relax in. The bathroom was very clean and cute. Flat screen TV with cable. The couch in the living room pulls out into a queen bed. Extra blankets and pillows in the dresser in the bedroom.
I'd recommend this place to people wanting a decent, clean, fun place to stay, in an awesome location, who don't want to spend a lot of money. We paid $119/night and felt it was a very good deal for that location. -

Excellent location and great views. However view of neighbors undies hung out to dry tends to detract from the majesty of the ocean. Overall air of unkempt - torn screens, scraped walls, mismatched furniture - just not very nice. We drive around and collected info on other beachfront locations near by and frankly think much better is to be add within 1/2 a mile at the same or better price. Keep driving.

It sure helped that the weather cleared up while I was there. Certainly not luxurious, but it lives up to its claim of ultimate relaxation. Fantastic beach access (if you can do stairs), friendly and accomodating staff . My friend and I enjoyed the long walks on the beach which is seemingling endless, exploring the tidepools and visiting the Laquina Llight house which is a nice walk from the motel. On our first night we had a great time sitting by the campfire having a sing along with another guest who played a mean banjo. Stephen Foster anyone? If I ever get by the Newport area again...I would give it another go for sure.
