Came here for lunch and this is the best Greek food I've had.
Such a deal and such great food.

My visit here was on a Friday evening at the end of a long business trip. Given the surrounding area I'm guessing Agape has a huge lunch clientele. On Friday evening, it was as sedate as the office building parking lots surrounding it.

The interior is clean, Classical Hellenic. I had falafels (nice hint of lemon, not bitter), which were served with steamy pita triangles. The chicken kebab plate with stewed vegetables (perfect carrots; crisp, not mushy) and rice all hit my sweet spot.

Found the place thru Yelp for lunch with a friend,  Agape looked good and location is ideal. Not knowing what to expect, we were both pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the lunch a lot.

Parking was no problem and there is a decent outdoor dining area near the entrance.  As soon as you enter, get in line to order and pay first. This is a little awkward, you are out of luck if you're unfamiliar with Mediterranean food. I ordered the gyro plate and my friend had the Moussaka (vege and ground meat bake).  As we looked for a table in the dining area, we were impressed by how large the place is and glad to see it's kept very clean with simple decor.

Service was minimal but efficient, right away we got some warm pita with hummus and a small pitcher of water with lemon to serve ourselves. Food came quickly and the portions are HUGE. For my gyro plate, I got 6-7 long slices of meat (pretty tender) on top of a pita, a lot of French fries (soft and soggy, not good) and a side of tasty Greek salad which I enjoyed very much. The dip that came with the plate was very yummy.  My friend liked her food a lot as well, we both asked for a box to bring home a substantial amount of left over.

I also bought 3 cookies ($2.5) to try; they were pretty good, not sweet but probably made with a lot of butter.

Overall I think Agabe offers excellent value, not sure how the dinners are, I'm eager to find out. The place should also work well for large groups or company parties especially if you are on a budget.

This review is for their catering only, not for dine in service.

We get catering from here often, and Saba is great!

I have never been so impressed with catering from a Restaurant before. He was professional, on time, remembers my name, and not to mention, the food is so tasty! We usually get the chicken kebab, salad, pita, falafels, beef gyro with tzatziki and hummus.

It is definitely a great deal for the amount of food you get. My office loves when we have Greek food for lunch and always leave happy, full and appreciate that its a bit healthier than other options out there.

I am never coming here again. came here with some coworkers for lunch and waited 15 min in the order line - then another 35 minutes after we sat down.  we asked the servers a few times and each time they said the food was coming soon. we eventually gave up and demanded our money back - and walked out. fuck this. never coming back again.

I have had WAY better greek without the attitude from the staff. I was hesitant to review this for months because they supposedly 'permitted' my yelp deal for take out when they said it was 'dine in only'... but the voucher did not say that at all.

However, even as take out I was 5 minutes from my destination and the food was still super mediocre. The lamb chops overcooked, the meat platter (Agape Meze) seemed low quality and we didn't like any of it, and we are big time meat and sausage lovers. The hummus? nothing special. The pita, dry and stale. The babaganush and gyro were probably the most likable things.  The chicken skewers were also dry and bland.

"Agápe" is one of the Greek words for "love," and in this case I think it fits!  My wife and I love this restaurant and even considered having our rehearsal dinner here.  :]

(On the topic of large parties... Agápe Grill can do reservations for big groups, no problem.  If you have 26 or more people, it's doable but with a fixed menu.  15% gratuity included for groups.)

I really enjoy the fresh warm pita and hummus, which are refilled free of charge.  No need to fill up on bread though, because the portions are very large.  They really load up the plates generously.  (My friend said his coworkers are never able to finish their lunches when they eat here.)

Agápe makes a great gyro, but I like to order the loukániko (Greek sausage) plate.  The sausage is flavorful and salty, served with fries and tasty cooked veggies.

Each entree ($10-15*) also comes with a nice salad: lettuce, cucumber, tomato, olives, feta, onion.  (I'm not into feta, but it's easy enough to avoid.)

*:  The online menu is a little outdated, but all the prices are still extremely reasonable (especially considering the massive servings).

The dining area is huge, and the waitstaff is suuuper nice and friendly.

I hear it gets busy at lunch time (because there's so many workplaces nearby), but we've never seen it too crowded for dinner.

    Food:  4.25 stars
    Value:  4.75 stars
    Service:  4.5 stars
    Overall:  4.5 stars

Good food, good value, good service... what's not to agápe?

I came here again a few months ago, and have to upgrade my review. This time I ordered the biftekia plate, since I remembered that was one of the better tasting dishes from the last time I was here.

The service was pretty slow this time and the place was mostly empty, so I don't understand why the service was slow. I do have to say that the food tasted better this time around, but that could have been because I already knew what the better items were on the menu to order. The fries still tasted soggy though.

I went here with a girlfriend for a quick dinner and we decided just order a light dinner but the portions were huge so it was a good thing we shared!  It was pretty empty for a Friday evening around dinner time so we were seated quickly.  Our water was very patient with us as we asked about various menu items and he gave us some recommendations on what to order.

We ended up getting the spread sampler which was pretty good except that there was a fish mouse that my friend really didn't like (I never tried it).  The rest of the sampler was good with the yogurt sauce, two kinds of hummus, moussakal, and mashed potatoes.  We also ordered a falafel sandwich with agape fries and we couldn't get enough of the fries!  They were great with the yogurt sauce from the sampler. The falafel was okay but it's nothing special.

Customer service was good, portions were large, and the food was overall good.  I've had better but this is defiantly a place I'm coming back to!

I've been here for lunch a couple of time and was really impressed. I usually go to Athena's for greek food, but they are so expensive. 9 bucks for a salad + 6/7 for chicken and salmon. it's a rip off!
I got the chicken plate which came with a yummy salad, lots of veggies and rice. the chicken was a bit overdone but it was 10 bucks, and you can't beat this price. the food was tasty, not too salty or oily. service is minimal but efficient. they have lots of tables so it's never too packed.
my friends had some gyros in a wrap and were delighted.
Next tie I'll try the beef plate

One thing we tried and didn't like is the baklava. it was too sweet and not geniune but I'm not into that anyways.

We had a Groupon for $50 worth of food AND drink.  I'd read the Yelp reviews, looked at the pictures and knew I wasn't going to some romantic restaurant (few of those located in an industrial park), so no unrealistic expectations going in.

The staff was friendly, welcoming and prompt.  The one thing I did notice is that both waiters would semi bow from  the hips, put their hands on their knees, approx 3 feet from the table when taking orders.  Kind of charming and old school.   We ordered (and our waiter didn't even write it down) and were brought hummas and warm pita bread, a glass of wine for me and a yogurt drink for him (he thought he'd try something new - but wouldn't again).

Next up - Tadzaki & Skordelia appetizers.   Oh it's a bad combination when you have warm bread & a rumbly tummy!   Stop, stop eating the bread!!   Noooo, I can't stop!!!!     The tadzaki was the best I've had since I spent 3 weeks in Greece.  I've only had skordelia once and I don't remember them being like this - these had the consistency of cold, garlic mashed potatoes.   My husband liked them, I didn't.

He ordered the Lamb Chops, and while they weren't the traditional cut you think of (?) he loved them.  They came with about 2 pounds of french fries, which he barely made a dent in, and a tiny ramekin of "Agape Sauce" which was a weird pink/grey color.  I asked our waiter what it was (besides GOOD), and it's their own house-made Kalamata Olive/Garlic spread.    It was delish, and I don't even LIKE olives!

I ordered the Swordfish, which came with alot of rice; it was slightly overdone (took half home).     Now, the vegetables were more than SLIGHTLY overdone - waaaaayyyyy overdone!     The only thing out of the melange of veggies that wasn't, was the carrot.  Neither of us touched them, they were that bad.

Overall, I'd say a 3.5, good service, decent food.

Oh, and I'm not a restaurant designer, but sitting there, I had a great idea how to make the restaurant look so much better, without spending a ton of money too (just in case the owner reads this).

If you take Athena Grill's menu, add a larger dining area (and thus no long waits), and food that tastes just as good if not better than you get this place. Stopped going to Athena after I discovered this place because it just took way too long to get lunch at that place.

Weekday work lunches are usually pretty unmemorable. There's a limited amount of time, and not too many places serve quick amazing affordable meals, but the last time I ate here I left thinking "Wow that was a really good meal". Ordered the chicken plate with vegetables and rice. I'm usually not a vegetable guy; ask my gf she'll confirm that I'm not a fan for anything green, but the vegetables here were so well done and tasty that I finished everything on my plate.

I"ve tried a couple of other meal items here; chicken tikka wrap, lamb wrap etc and they were all really good.

Can't go wrong with this place.

This place reminds me so much of Athena Grill but is a lot bigger so it's less stressful.

You order at the counter then seat yourself and the dining room gets really crowded (at least at lunch - not sure if they're open for dinner).

I went with a friend and got the Lamb pita which was delish!  And the fries/dipping sauce are addictive. You get a little basket with warm pita and hummus while you wait.

    Service is fine and fast.

I will definitely go back to explore the menu a bit more!

Yelp Deal gave us the opportunity to try this place out.

We had dinner here and ordered a plethora of dishes.

    Hot Apps:
    Gyros. Decent, not the best.
    Spanakopita. Disgusting.

    Entrees:
Chicken Tikka (Souvlaki). Tender but flavorless.
    Kefta Kebab. Dry, dry, dry.
    Shrimp. Dry, dry, dry.

The service was ok. We were left waiting for long periods of time though the place was only about 1/4 full.

I do not recommend this place for dinner. The restaurant is located smack dab in the middle of a business park. Maybe they serve better lunches.

Tucked away in the midst of Sunnyvale office buildings is Agape Grill.  This place is like the bigger, and more cavernous version of Athena Grill...  The menu items are almost identical, in addition to the method of ordering at the counter and getting your own drinks at the soda fountain or refrigerator.

Came in with a group of 3, and we all ended up ordering the gyro platter (pretty safe choice).  Lots of slices of lamb, greek salad, and pita bread... Definitely filling.  Overall, not as tasty as Athena, but sort of makes up for it if you are in a hurry, and need a place to grab some decent Mediterranean fare.  There's a parking lot also, which make this spot more accommodating as well.

I will definitely be back, since this place is so conveniently located to my clients.  Fast,  reasonably priced, and an overall good experience.

Warm pita bread and dip are served immediately after we arrived. We love chicken kabob, swordfish and moussaka here. i think Falafel is just ok here. The skin is a bit too crispy for me. Spanakopita (spinach, feta cheese, onions and leeks baked in phyllo dough) is worth trying.

Agape is like Athena's little brother.  He tries to be just like big sis but is just never good enough.  And by Athena, I'm referring to Athena's Grill in Santa Clara.

I don't know if the two are affiliated but the menu looks similar, the purple garlic dip is almost identical, and even the cabinet liners they use for place mats are the same.  What isn't the same is the quality of the food.

With the lamb souvlaki, Agape doesn't stuff it as much as Athena's.  Given we probably shouldn't be eating too much anyway, it's also missing the amazing tzatiki sauce that usually binds together the meat with the bread with the veggies.  However, the lamb was sufficiently seasoned and was really fragrant with the different spices.

They also don't give as many fries.  Come on!  If I were their parent, I would say "Agape, how can you ever expect to measure up when you don't follow Athena's methods for success?"  If Agape wanted to set its own path for success, it wouldn't have mimicked Athena's so closely then.  You either make a name for yourself with unique food or make the same food much better.

I love Greek food and I really want to love Agape Grill. Unfortunately I found the food just mediocre.

Agape Mezes (Appetizer sampler) - Sharing is highly recommended as there are plenty of food on this plater. You get lambs, chicken, beef Souvlaki, Loukanika, Biftekia and fresh cut fries. I didn't find any of the souvlaki too memorable. The chicken one was probably the better of all since it wasn't too dry. The loukanika was too tough and salty. Biftekia was alright but the fresh cut fries weren't crispy enough.

Falafel Wrap - I did enjoy the falafel here. They were quite crispy with a nice loose texture. The pita bread was nice too.

Samaka - They ran out of swordfish so they made it with trout instead. The texture is a bit dry and flavors were slight lacking. I have had better ones at other restaurants.

Service was very friendly and the restaurant looks like a great venue for group events since the dining room is huge. Food was just too average for a return visit.

Everything looked delicious on the menu. Service was fantastic, we ordered and got our food in a decent amount of time. I'm glad my friend remembered this restaurant. It's bookmarked in my phone now!

I got a beef swarma wrap, and it came with fries + warm pita bread & hummus. Mine was delicious. Their fries are a bit like In-N-Out, freshly cut and fried. My friend got a glass of orange juice, but didn't like it for some reason.

The place looked a bit dated, but was well color coordinated and clean. They even had outdoor seating, though it was raining yesterday.

I would never have found Agape Grill if I hadn't purchased a Yelp deal a while back.  It's tucked away in an office park in Sunnyvale.  Now that I've been there, I wish I had tried them earlier because it was a great experience.  All of the food was fresh and delicious and the price was right.  The portions were enormous and the waiter was genuinely friendly and sweet.
I am guessing that they would like to build their dinner business at Agape Grill because it wasn't very busy.  There were about six tables of people when we came in at 7pm which I didn't mind.  I will definitely be back for dinner and will leave lunch to the business crowd from the surrounding offices.
If you live in the area and you haven't found this place yet, I suggest you seek it out.

Agape Grill is just across my office complex so I go there quite often for lunch.  I think what the owners have done is smart - Mediterranean foods are hot here in the Bay Area and they leased a huge space in an office park to open this restaurant.  It gets packed and more importantly, their food is really good and the service is fast.

The gyro wrap is my favorite item on the menu, and it's the one I almost always get.  All their entrees come with a plentiful serving of pita bread and dipping sauce.  As I mentioned before, not long after you much on one or two of those will your food arrive.

The restaurant itself is a great place to meet with people because it is spacious which allows for lunch meetings when you want to talk with your fellow co-workers or just have a lunch interview.

Hidden location. Popular on the weekends for private parties and Fridays.

Family run operation, dad, mom, both kids work there.  Home made greek food.

Very crowded during Fris, usually full. Large venue. Sit down place, not uncommon to have 50+ sitting inside, especially on Fridays.

Outside patio with umbrellas and patio furniture so you can sit in the sun.

Outstanding food value. Most dishes are around $10.00 maybe 11-12 for the fancier more expensive dishes like lamb or fish.

All orders include  pita bread cut into triangles with baba ganoush appetizer.

Dishes come with a choice of carbs, usually rice, or fries or cup of fruit. Dishes with rice usually include soup.

Lemon Rice soup is very good. Very tart, very lemony. Kids would love this. Not sweet like most everything else you get in an Americanized version. I hate sweet, it destroys the natural flavor when they add sugar.

Specials on Fridays because of the volume. Specials can include grilled trout, roasted chicken, lamb shanks, beef stew with okra, none of these specials are on the menu. You have to go here and try them.

Many Greek dishes are similar to Arabic food. Bamia is a Arabic lamb stew with okra, other vegetables in a tomato sauce with pomegranite juice, cooked till fork tender. Tastes slightly sweet and sour with the thickness of the stew from cooking the okra. Very good over rice, nothing comparable in other cuisines.

Another variation is without the okra but reddened with a combination of red wine, cinnamon, cloves, etc.. open to interpretation.

Beef gyros very popular, chicken a bit dry. Chicken doesn't appeal to everybody.

Tenders are very good, tenderloin part, chicken, beef, maybe lamb. The marinade for the chicken is very good, served over rice.

~$8-9 for a falafel plate,  baba ganoush+ pita and garlic fries. Enough for 2. Was so full couldn't touch the garlic fries. Can add roasted eggplant to the falafel. Very good, the eggplant is marinated in something, maybe something with balsamic vinegar. If you like eggplant, the softness of the eggplant contrasts nicely with the crunchy of the falafel. $1/addition is worth it in my opinion. Also keeps the falafel moist.

Falafel with eggplant very very good. Eggplant is a $1.00 addon. Worth it. Contrast between the crunchy of the falafel balls and smoothness silkiness of roasted eggplant. Better food value and flavor than falafel drive in. No banana shakes but you won't be able to finish it.

Incredible amount of food for price. Usually enough for 1.5-2 meals. Don't overeat. Stop when full and take the rest home. Overeating isn't healthy. Spikes your blood sugar and lipids causing inflammation.

Nothing canned or frozen, everything made from scratch.

Vegetarian wrap very good, marinated eggplant, grilled peppers, onions, lettuce. The creaminess of the eggplant contrasts with the crunchy of other vegetables. They don't use super hard veggies like carrots but cucumbers instead. Cucumbers are peeled to remove the bitter from the skin.

Salads are ok, not really a salad person. House salad ok, has olives and feta cheese. Too salty for me. House salad has romaine lettuce hearts, tomatoes, sliced peeled cucumbers with house made vinagrette.

Desserts are very good, all taste homemade.

    Full bar in the back.

Wifi. Can sit there and work if you like.

    Family is very nice.

I was lured to this spot by all the great reviews for Agape Grill, but unfortunately I cannot agree with the reviews of the majority of the reviewers.

I ordered the Agape House Greek Salad with gyro. The salad, which comes with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and olives was just okay. It contained a lot of red onions. The portion of beef was very generous and was sauteed, opposed to being freshly shaved. Pita and hummus are delivered to each table.

There is plenty of seating inside as well as a patio outside with covered tables for al fresco dining. Service was friendly and our food arrived fairly quickly. One thing that I did notice when we first walked in was the overwhelming smell of cleaning products. Perhaps they had done some cleaning just before we arrived but I was really happy that outdoor seating was available.

Our experience was okay. I would be okay with giving this place another try, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. This place would be a good choice for very large groups.

Errr, I think today's meal was a bit too salty for my tastes. I have been dying of thirst since I got the chicken souvlaki with fries at lunch. Of course, that won't stop me from coming back. :)

+1 star for the outdoor patio seating on a gorgeous fall afternoon with 80 degree weather.

Also, service on the patio was impeccable. I asked for a water glass and was told that someone would bring it out to us. Well, I grabbed a giant plastic tumbler anyway. When the server came by with the water, he included two placemats, two silverware settings, two water glasses, a pitcher of water, and a basket of just warmed pita wedges and fresh garlicky hummus dipping sauce. Mmmmm. Then he tried to pour all the water glasses! Great service.

Everything about my experience with this place makes me happy it was chosen as the venue for my friend's bridal shower. The food, the service, the Steve, the price, just everything.

We were able to reserve the entire back room for the party, and the staff helped us moved tables, set up place settings, and even reorganized so there would be room for the gifts and cake tables. They even gave out free coffee to my tired bones, setting up decorations at 10:00 a.m.

For a cheap price per head (~$20), we were served drinks, hot and cold appetizers, crisp salads, and an entree of our choice of chicken or beef kabobs or vegetarian moussaka. The hummus samplers were fabulous. I opted for the moussaka which was a HUGE portion, and savory in a tomato based sauce.

Steve was such a help throughout all this, monitoring when food should be brought out and used plates cleared. The rest of the staff was friendly and efficient, too.

I would definitely recommend this place for a banquet, party, or office luncheon. The location is kind of out in the middle of nowhere Sunnyvale, but I'd definitely drive out there to grab lunch again.
