Unlike most baby store shoppers (which I am not), I walked in not knowing what I was looking for.  So I didn't have the horrid lack of customer service that everyone is talking about.  When I went in I was greeted with smiles and they asked if I needed assistance.  I declined because I wasn't into speaking cutesie baby jargon.  It was hard for me to smile because I'm anti-baby.  But the merchandise made it hard not to.

With that said, I was on the hunt for something that Ohio hasn't seen before.  Let's face it, it's always fun finding something that the other side of the world knows nothing about.  Which is ironic and somewhat a juxtaposition, because I know nothing about this stuff.  Everything was new to me.  But, I was shopping for a new mom, so I was praying she was somewhat like me.

Granted, they had cutesie things that most people would aw over.  I was shopping for sex opposite fraternal twins.  I opted for a smattering of odd and end tchotchkes.  One of which were knee pads for the mobilizing pre-toddler, for the boy, and these cute ruffled bloomers for her.

They had stuffed animals, spoons that bent sideways for kids learning to use utensils like cavemen, and strollers galore.  I had to laugh.  The strollers were labeled with pictures of celebrities who have been spotted with the exact stroller.  Oh my.  Slings, breast apparatuses, tauts, rhinestone encrusted baby binky things, you name it.  Everything the trendy baby maker would enjoy utilizing on her child.  Lovely smelling baby soaps, etc.

They were kind and gift wrapped my presents in a showy fashion for Miss Expecting, and I was off!  I spent longer in this store than I had hoped, and spent more than I had wanted to spend.  Yet, I got a lot of stuff.  Exactly that.  STUFF!  Organically made stuffed animals, and almost edible baby wash, and soothing sleepy lotion for the babes (that I wanted to keep for myself).

I bordered on a 3 star rating for the cost, but I really can't complain.  The only complaint I have is having to come here in the first place because my cute 2nd cousin is pregnant at 40 with twins.

Really great store! They carry a LOT of babywearing gear, which is great. Unfortunately some of it was out of stock, but the gals working there helped us check out what they did have. They are very knowledgeable & helpful. I love that they had weighted baby dolls so you can get the feel of the carrier with a "baby" :) pretty neat. I think we've decided on at least one carrier, and are going to come back and check out more once they are back in stock. They also have a lot of cloth diapering goods there, for those interested! Definitely worth checking out :)!

They have nice, expensive baby stuff. Hence the boutique label..

We walked in thinking it would be a 5 star experience cuz the guy behind the counter smiled and asked if he could help us as soon as he saw us walk in. I did my research and knew what I needed from this store. So I immediately replied with my list. He just stood there clueless and shrugged his shoulders. The heck!? How you gon ask me if you can help then stand there like an idiot!?

Well, like I said, I did my research so I knew they had my items in stock. It's a small store so it didn't take long to find. Checked in on yelp and got my 10% off, paid the man and left.

I get better service at Babies R Us, but they don't have what I needed. That time will be my first and last visit to this store.

I went looking for strollers and not expecting very good service after reading these reviews. I was actually surprised at the great customer service I received. The two women working there were extremely helpful, they showed me each stroller and seemed to go out of their way to help me find what I needed. This is despite the fact that they knew I was only looking and not going to make a purchase right then.
The store has great variety in items and good quality stuff. It is a bit pricey, but that's because they carry top of the line items. I would definitely recommend it.

Hate to do it, but I have to downgrade my star rating for this place. They hired a curly-haired guy recently. I assume because he speaks English, well mumbles it at least. My issue with him is he doesn't know his products and has poor customer service skills. We came here fully prepared to spend $500 on a new orbit baby toddler seat. He is so incompetent that we left wondering why we drove here from Eastlake. Looks like we will be ordering our car seats direct from Orbit Baby. Ladies, get rid of that guy, you were doing just great before.

After reading many reviews for this store, I didn't really have very high expectations.  But, since they were the closest place to me that carries BumGenius diapers, I decided to give it a try.

I walked in and was promptly greeted by one of the staff.  She was very nice, and asked me to let her know if I had any questions.  I wandered around the store for a few minutes, just browsing, and then zeroed in on the diapers. After looking at them for a minute or 2, I noticed that the same lady was nearby, neatening the shelves.  I asked her many questions about the diapers, how they work, the difference between them and other brands, and she was quite nice and extremely helpful.  There were a few other people in the store, and I heard her answering their questions as well.  So I have nothing bad to say about the service in this place.  Sure, they are more expensive than other stores, but I think they carry nicer stuff.  And I saw a lot of merchandise that was priced the same as at other stores.

BTW, if you go in this place, be sure to visit the bathroom.  I had heard a lot about those fancy Japanese toilets, but I had never had the chance to try one.  Now, I have!  :)

Yay! Finally got my 2012 Uppababy stroller. Their customer service rocks! I don't know what the previous reviews are talking about, all the employees there were very knowledgeable and helpful (Curly hair guy, 3 girls, owner, sorry I'm very very bad at names). I was really testing out the strollers, I mean running them around the store, unfolding, and folding. Asked them to see if it fits in my sedan trunk. I figured if I'm going to be committed to a stroller for 2+ years I better feel really comfortable with it. They didn't give me any attitude or sales pressure, help me when I had questions and even asked me if I wanted some water. The first time I went home with a City Mini GT, I was so happy with my purchase but the baby didn't like NOT being able to see me, that's right, she told me she wanted the reversible seat option. So I went back the exchange for the Uppababy stroller and got a better deal than what was offered online. Their customer service level reminded me of the book Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh. I hope I can do the same when I open my own store someday.

Went there today to buy a stroller, toddler car seat and beach items for my baby. It was Sunday 4 PM, and there were no customers. The girl (her name is youwee sp?) was not helpful at all. Talk about AWFUL sales skills and lack of common sense. Every time I asked her if she had something, she smiled and said they don't have it.. Also asked for beach items, got the smile and "we don't have it" response, then sure enough they had section for it. she kept running back to her computer (looked like she was shopping online I think). I told her I drove for 50 mns to come here and that she seems in a hurry and not wanting to help..... she smiled and said sorry.. and started browsing the web again!!!!!

I left the store confused. Maybe she wanted me to beg her to help me? Stay away until customer service is improved

My husband and I ventured to Agana Baby in San Diego, even though we live in Carlsbad, because it is one of the only stores in the County that has Quinny strollers on display.  Point being: Our visit was focused and discrete -- see a Quinny!

The salesman, generally speaking, was helpful and appeared to be knowledgeable about the many brands of strollers they carry.  He did provide us with a very biased sales pitch, trying to direct us away from the Quinny ... I couldn't tell if he was genuine, or would get some kickback from the other stroller maker for the sale.  In any event, we ended up going with the Quinny ... as purchased on Amazon.  (We weren't ready to make a decision the day we visited the store, and who can turn down the no sales tax and free shipping we secured via Amazon, particularly when a return trip to Agana would have set us back $20 in gas!)

All that being said, the store appeared to have some cute little items.  No one-stop wonder, but definitely some cute gift items and what I call "baby accents."

Unfortunately experienced the true colors of this place on a 2nd visit. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE and they can be extremely unreasonable and rude. Also know that it is a NOT a hassle-free exchange/refund experience if you have any issues.

I had the same experience as some OTHER REVIEWERS who gave a 1-STAR rating. Basically they seem to change the rules/policies as they go along, and also poorly communicate, especially with regard to specials and deals, which (let's be honest) is what makes a retailer stand out.

They make no effort to explain things you should know prior to purchases, and definitely do NOT believe in working with the customer when either they provided bad information (or NO info), and are not open to making things right for the customer.

The owner even tried to explain she couldn't fix an error because "accounting already closed for that month"!  WHAT A JOKE!?!

Not to mention their prices are NOT competitive - not a cheap store. The perks were the discounts, but all in all i realize you really don't get that much bang for your buck -
After having done some more shopping around, you can get some great deals on Amazon or Babies R Us (esp since babies r us continuously gives you 20% off coupons when you make a purchase, or sign up for their free rewards program). Also USA BABY on Miramar has same or similar items and better deals.

It's a small boutique, and not worth the hassle.  Good luck if you do get sucked in.

The store is in a somewhat convenient location. It is a shopping center with a lot of customer traffic so the parking spots are not the best if you need a lot of space to park.

The store itself is nicely laid out for the most part. The strollers and car seats stand out as they are nicely displayed. I am an online shopper but I was willing to pay a premium price for baby goods if I found a store with great customer service.

The minute I walked in into this store I couldn't help to hear the heated argument between a customer and one of the ladies that work there. The lady that worked for the store did not speak very good English but also spoke with a very harsh tone of voice. She was directly blaming the customer for a misunderstanding. The customer was obviously pregnant and seemed reasonable in what she was saying but the sales person was just plain rude and unmoved. As I browsed around I realized that other customers also were trying not to pay attention but the sales person was so loud and abrupt that one couldn't help but to hear this unwanted heated debate.

I left the store within 10 minutes and was glad I got to see the products I wanted in real life but I realized I would never shop in a place where I would not be treated with respect as a customer.

I came back a few months later and brought the hubby along just to take a look at the strollers. After being "helped" by another sales person I realized that they need to hire people with not only better English skills but also someone with customer service skills. For example, when trying to fold a stroller the sales person said I couldn't do it because I was too weak...the joke would not bother me but her way of communicating it would make any pregnant person very irritated.

So, we left the store feeling so desolate because there absolutely no stores in San Diego where one can buy baby quality goods for a decent price with good service. Babies R Us is not a choice for me either so online I go...AganaBaby needs better management and hiring policies in order to get better service.

I never knew this store existed here!

I came here because they carried a specific diaper bag that my co-workers and I were going to purchase for our co-worker who is having a baby. Coming into the store - they were so friendly and helpful. No pressure at all! The store owner handed me a small bottled water while I looked around. What a great touch!

I noticed the cool selection of strollers, baby goods, diaper bags, and other cool things parents may need as I scanned through the diaper bags quickly. Unfortunately, they were out of stock of the diaper bag I was looking for. I was in and out in a flash since I was in a hurry -but I'll definitely be back again once it's our turn to have a baby, or any gifts for friends who are expecting. As I was rushing out the door, she hands me a small pouch that contained a jasmine soap. How nice was that? I definitely want to support stores like this one!

Check out their website too! They are online!

This is a high end baby boutique.  They carry high end strollers and other unique items that you cannot find at Babies R Us.  Their prices are not competitive. I ended up buying the Bugaboo stroller at USA Baby on Miramar for more of a discount. They do not carry any organic clothing. Babies R Us is beginning to offer more natural and organic items.

Overall, I am not too impressed with this store.  The store is really small and tends to cater more to baby girls. This store is great for those of you to register at if you have lots of rich friends and family- you will receive nice gifts that you would not over wise spend your own money on.

If this place ever does good business I would be surprised. For a high end baby boutique, it is unfortunate that they are located in a  working-middle class strip mall.  This boutique would do better in areas like La Jolla, Del Mar or Carmel Valley.

In conclusion, as a savvy shopper I recommend buying what you can at Babies R Us and what ever that you can't find, you can buy on Amazon for free shipping and no tax. If you are into unique brands, try http://Gilt.com or http://Zulily.com for really good discounts.

I love shopping at local boutique stores and I was so happy to find one specifically for babies.  We came to Agana Baby to look at strollers, specifically the Bugaboo strollers.  After doing quite a bit of research prior to coming here, we already knew what we wanted.  It was just our luck that they had the EXACT stroller we were thinking of getting, except it was discounted (they only had 1 left in stock) - of course we had to buy it! The manager, Midori, helped us and she even offered to go to their warehouse to get the stroller for us so we can look at it (this was even before we told her we were going to buy it).  As we were waiting for her, we were offered bottles of water and asked by several sales reps if we needed assistance.

The service itself gets 5 stars and all the cool baby goodies top it off for me.  After purchasing our stroller, they gave us our Agana Baby points card (we earned a $25 gift certificate and almost filled up one more).  They even gave us one of their handmade  soaps.  I can't wait to go back and shop s'more!

I highly recommend checking out their website - it's a great indicator of their store.

Very upscale baby store.  This place is perfect if you hate mainstream stores like Babies R Us or Target and want special brands.  I gave it a three due to the fact that there is not a wide range of products that fit in a wider price range.  Even celebutantes and wannabes are certainly not opposed to buying modest or inexpensive items as long as they are good items.  Best does not always equal expensive.  And, new parents have other needs such as saving for baby, diapers and formula and ignoring this fact  is somewhat out-of-touch with today's economic reality.  I'm not saying that they should cheapen the store and not offer the higher-end brands at all.  I'm just saying that it is wise to broaden your customer base with more affordable options.

I do like the unique toys.  They have a good selection of baby gear that is often not carried at stores but featured online only.  I do have to say that the staff is attentive, welcoming, and not pushy at all.  They also offer you water when you come in and are nice to offer samples when you leave.  The customer service is the best part of the shopping experience here.

Great store! I went in to get a gift for my new niece! I would have bought more but the items are a little pricey. Maybe it's because they carry higher-end products.

When I told the women that my items were a gift she ran back and gift wrapped everything! She even threw in some free samples. That's great customer service.

I would recommend this place for cute- higher-end baby products and great customer service.

I didn't buy anything from the store.  As a matter of fact I don't think I was even in the store for an entire sixty-seconds.  But if I could give this store less than 1-star, I would gladly do so.

My son and I went to the store today after reading about it in Bump magazine.  With the arrival later this year of his little brother I thought it would be fun to pick something small out at a new San Diego boutique for him to give to his little brother.

When we arrived, there was another couple with their little one walking in, however, they walked out in almost as fast as they walked in.  SInce they said nothing to my son and I, I didn't think twice about it and we kept on our way.

When we walked in we could see there may actually be some good things in the store.  I noticed right away there was no one at the counter and took a few more steps in.  Then I noticed two women sitting in some of the rocking chairs in a corner of the store.  I didn't pay much attention to them at first aside from saying hello.  However one of the women said "We are closed."  I looked over at her and said "What?"  But it was not the sort of "what" that implies I didn't hear you or "I don't understand English".  It was more surprise at the fact that the door was unlocked, their was no posting of closure early or at all that day...so why would I think it would be closed.  At this point the other woman piped up and rudely said "She said, we are closed today."  As if I hadn't heard the first woman and that a stern, snippy voice might shake me from what she must have perceived as a hearing problem (I am sure she is the type of person who when travels abroad speaks English slower assuming that if a person doesn't understand it the first time that slowing her speech down will surely drive home the point).

I responded with "okay, thanks for the heads up" and my son and I walked out.

A simple note on the door stating that they are closed would have sufficed.  But nothing posted and a crude dismissal makes this place no better than the dimwits at places like USA Baby (another place to avoid like the plague).

For a place that boasts customer service, this is not how you service potential new customers.  Now whether the store has junk or gold for baby products, I'll never know and I don't feel like I am at a loss for it.  Fortunately for me, there is this thing called the internet.  Unfortunately for Agana Baby, there is this thing called the internet.  No need to support a local business like that ever again.

There's nothing like thinking you got a great deal, then later finding out you got Eff'd in the A**!!

Welcome to Agana Baby.  Buy an expensive stroller, use a coupon, and get points.  Nice!  Then go back to use your points... oh wait you don't have any.  WTF?!  They had told us we'd get points totaling $270 in savings, BUT we used a coupon so you no points for you.

OK whatever. Forget that you lied to our faces before. How bout we be reasonable... return the stroller, nix the coupon, buy the stroller back at regular price, use the points. That way we (the customer) can get the original savings. Sounds resonable right?  NOPE!!  WTF for a second time?!

I said, "Wait, we have our registry with you guys totaling over $2000? Not to mention the hundreds more that we were intending to spend when we came here today? And all the friends that we were going to tell how great this place is."

They said, "NO DISCOUNT FOR YOU!"

I said, "Screw you, cancel our registry, and I'll make sure to tell everyone I know not to come here!"

Thought we found a little gem of a store, but we were sorely mistaken.  I'll spend my money somewhere else!

I would give this place a huge fat zero if I could but it's not an option.  Horrible customer service...my husband & I stood around for 10 minutes waiting for assistance on strollers but it never came even though there were 3 people working & one salesperson was standing right behind my husband because he was in her way.  We were invisible to them.  Such snobs... & not EVEN a high end boutique.  What a joke!  Also, no organization of products.  Items were pretty much haphazardly thrown around.  Total waste of time.  Go spend your money elsewhere for your baby.  Agana Baby does not deserve my business & if this is how they treat all of their customers, they won't be in business much longer.  Good luck.

I called Agana inquiring about a specific car seat that I have not been able to find in any store in San Diego.  I had been reading online reviews about difficulties fitting the seat in the car due to size and wanted to see it in person.

They confirmed they had the one I wanted.  I expressed my excitement  and told them I had been wanting to see it before purchasing and that I would be right over.  I arrived within 20 minutes.  The car seat was not on display.  I also noticed that there were other car seats not on display at the store that they had for sale online.  When I inquired about the specific car seat that I had just called about, I was told that they had it in the warehouse but I could not see it.  I was, however, welcome to purchase it.

Needless to say, I am not happy with my experience at Agana.   When buying high-end products at premium prices from a store, I don't believe wanting to see the product is asking too much.  Not all the products they have available for purchase, are available in store for in person viewing.  For a straight, online, blind purchase, I'll go to http://Babiesrus.com or Amazon, where same products are significantly cheaper and offered with a no hassle return policy.

I am aware that there may have been some sort of misunderstanding but there was no effort to explain this to me OR to somehow make up for the fact that their miscommunication had resulted in my making a trip I would have not made otherwise.  They could have maybe helped me figure out if the seat would fit into my car.  But no attempt was made to even pretend that they appreciated my stopping in or me as a customer.

I like buying in a store (even at a premium) more so than online but excellent customer service is non-negotiable.  They do have a special selection of products but nothing you can't find online for a lot less.

The Britax Car Seat I was looking for is offered for $183.99 on Amazon and $229 at Babies R Us - Agana sells it for $279.

Thanks for saving me the money Agana.

Really cute boutique but a lot smaller than I had expected. They do have ergos, other carriers, ruffle bottoms, etc. But I would rather go to a larger store for the same stuff.

    * I had driven by this store a couple times when visiting in the area so decided to stop by as my friend was coming into town to visit her first grandchild.   I thought I would check the store out and maybe bring her shopping.  I explained that I was looking and the young man and women let me have my space as I walked around the store.  I don't like it when I feel like I am being followed around a store.  There is a great variety of good quality baby items in the store.  When I had a question both of the employees were quick to answer them.  And both showed me how a couple strollers converted to a car seat or a bassinette and then easily folded up for storage.  I fell in love with a high chair that would be very easy to keep clean and an adorable stuffed lion sitting proudly in a stroller!  If you are looking for something nice and unique I would highly recommend shopping at Agana baby in Kearny Mesa!

I was there again tonight and once again left pleased. I overheard one of the workers answering the phone, and I think she said it best, "if you are just looking for a normal item, you should go to a place like babies r us. We shop worldwide for special items that are hard to find".

I've been in three times, and I have never seen a sale- everything is exactly retail price. That said- when you want to find a unique gift and just high quality items that you usually have to order online, this is the place to go.

The customer service is superb. They never fail to bring a bottle of water and this last  time, they even played with my eleven month old while I was trying to make some choices on purchases. I will be back again and again!

This boutique is a real gem in the sea of crappy baby stores, but it is so pricey. I drooled over all the natural and organic products, but the truth is you can find most of this stuff online for a smaller price. Still nice to have a local store that carries organics, cloth diapers, carriers, and the like.

I had no idea there was such an upscale boutique type of baby store in the area until one of my friends was registered here.

It is a really nice place with cute unique products;high-end designer stuff, organic, all natural, environmentally friendly products and what not.
It almost made me want one more baby by just looking at their products.

But it is just too pricey. I would come back here ONLY when my REALLY good friends are registered here.

Some lucky people can shop here all they want but if you are not a millionaire, go to Target or Babies R Us and save up for children's collage funds.

My wife and I absolutely love this infant and child boutique. Their prices are also very fairly priced and competitive with online dealers and even less in some cases. All their products are high quality items, the customer service is excellent as it is primarily Japanese employees, but if you are not Japanese in no way should you feel you aren't welcome here.

I just had the pleasure of visiting Agana today for the first time -- and it was such a wonderful experience!  Not only does the store have a great selection of high-quality baby goods (I in particular am a stickler for all natural, organic products NOT made in China), but the customer service is amazing.  The shop owner was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and really lets you hands-on test every product in the store -- without any sort of sales pressure.   Every detail of this shop has been thought out, from the fresh flowers in the powder room to the bottled water that you are given when you walk through the door.  I'll be back soon!

Upon my first visit to Agana Baby I was pleasantly surprised by the array of unique baby items that you cannot find elsewhere. When making my purchase I was asked if I would like to receive emails regarding specials and promotions, and I said yes. I received several emails from Agana regarding different product demonstrations, but the ones that caught my attention were regarding a Baby Sign Language class being held at the store for 6 weeks starting in September. The price of the classes was $100 for all 6 or $20 for each individual class. The email stated that the classes were free if a stroller was purchased from Agana. When I visited the store the first time there were several strollers that caught my eye however I wanted to do a little more research before making such a costly purchase (the strollers ranged from $200-$550). Upon receiving the emails I thought this would be a good opportunity to purchase one of the strollers, as I was interested in the Baby Sign Language class as well. My husband and I visited the store on the day of the class with every intention of purchasing a stroller. The sales person remembered us and I asked her if we purchased a stroller would we get the sign language class for free (just to reiterate what the emails said) and she confirmed "yes." So we continued to look at the strollers and ask questions, making comparisons between two different models. The sales person then went into a back room and was talking to another sales associate, coming back a minute later and telling us that the email we received was a promotion that was only going on during the month of July. I let her know that I had just received the most recent email regarding the class two days prior, in September. I even pulled out my phone and showed her the email. I received a previous email stating the same promotion a couple of weeks prior during the month of August. She went back and told the other sales associate this, who then came out and told us that it was their mistake, but they could not honor the email, they could only give us a couple of classes for free since the promotion had ended. I explained that I had only come down that day because of this promotion. I just could not understand how they could not honor the promotion after I showed them the two emails and after I received a confirmation when I first entered the store.  I left the store very disappointed and WITHOUT a stroller. I will look online to see if I can find the same models. Sadly, although I really like the products that Agana has to offer, I cannot patronize a business with such poor customer service and more importantly, I will not recommend them to any of my friends with children or those expecting.

Agana Baby is just down the street from us & they carry many products that Babies-R-Us & your average retail store does not. Upon arrival we noticed that Agana Baby was an overpriced baby boutique but that didn't bother us. The lady at the register was of asian decent & did not greet us or the other caucasion couple that had arrived just after us. We figured she was just busy & didn't think anything of it at the time, but after a few minutes it almost seemed like she was ignoring all four of us & it kind of made everyone in the store feel awkward. I could hear the other couple had questions about toddler seats & we had questions about strollers yet the sales lady at the counter made no effort to assist either one of us. Suddenly an asian couple walked into the store & her attitude immediately did a 180. She greeted the couple as they walked into the store & followed them around asking if they needed help. The father from the other couple & I looked at each other with a dumbfound look on our faces & I immediately knew that we were not of the proper ethnic background to be making a purchase at this store. If you are not aware of this, the majority of the population in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego is of asian ethnicity. I myself am hispanic and my wife is caucasion & we have lived in this area for 4 years but this is the first time weve encountered anything like this. We left the store feeling very unwelcome & will not be returning or recommending Agana Baby to anybody

This store was extremely overpriced and the owner/sales person was rude and ignored us completely when we asked her any questions.  I would not recommend this store to anyone looking for baby items or service.  Nordstrom is an excellent store with great sales person who go out of there way to help a customer.  Not so of  Agana Baby Store extremely  rude and racist.

We spent a whole day discovering baby stores in san diego and although this place is small, dont let that fool you! They have an amazing array of natural, high quality products. The salespeople are very friendly and patient and go through everything with you. We were impressed by the variety of products in different categories they had and they gave us this yummyyyy smelling natural soap just as a gift for stopping by. Their nonpushy, kind, and helpful service made us want to come back and become loyal customers!!
