Yes it's a bit overpriced for things, yes the setup is a bit confusing as a newb. That being said it is huge portions of tasty, fresh and real food. They make it to order and it comes out hot when it needs to be. I am willing to pay more for that myself.
I have had breakfast and lunch here now. I brought my dad for the breakfast trip. We debated the menu and finally settled on splitting a farmer's omelette with ham, potatoes, onions, green pep, swiss and cheddar. We also went halfsies on the cheese blintzes with strawberries and pineapple. Everything we ate was happy. It was more than enough for us and we enjoyed every bite.
For lunch I brought my mom. I sampled a lemon chicken salad with a muffin. Mmmm a happy salad indeed. Marinated chicken breast served hot over mixed greens with red onions and alfalfa sprouts. It's served with with tomato wedges, strawberries and oranges and topped with pecans. I ate every bit. My mom had a chicken salad and fruit plate with strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, fresh pineapple, bananas, apple wedges and orange wedges. It was garnished with frozen yogurt. Impressive and it made her extremely happy.Everything was ripe and tasty.
I will bring James here sometime when he can wait. I hear weekends can be a zoo. -
Review from Jason C.
My standard order is western omelette with wheat toast. The ham they use in there is salty and blends very well with the rest of the vegetables and the eggs. Now, from my experience with omelette, there are two kinds.
Don't expect the vegetables and proteins to be mixed in with the egg... rather, they cook the egg first and then put the vegetables, protein and cheese in the middle and cold in the egg... typically, the vegetables are cooked in the frying pan with the protein and then the eggs are added, then folded with cheese in the middle.
Their waffel is really good as well... you can order it with soft frozen yogurt... their sausage biscuit is delicious as well... I could just eat that all day long :)
Now, I've only gone here for breakfast and if you've been there on the weekends, you all know that it's busy and lines can get long... I have waited in line before and the most I waited was around 45 minutes for a table... of course, it might be longer depending on the size of your party.
So far, the wait staff that took my orders were all friendly and very helpful... but do note, if it's busy expect the foods to come out little slower and wait staff checking in on your slow as well....
For now, three stars for breakfast items that I've had... with the constructions around the corner, there's lot of traffic and traffic jam.... but the construction should be done soon.... swing by and try their omelettes. -

I have never been drawn to Afternoon Delight. I think they are a bit over priced for the cafeteria style eatery, but I have to give it to AF for being efficient, and for good food. Fresh fruit, good selection, enough space to accomodate the constant crowd and the soups are great.
If you are intimidated by the fast pace and not very understanding of how things work there, just ask. It's ok, they don't bite, but if you are shy and don't like the fast pace and are easily confused, so somewhere else. -

Man this place is soo hyped it hurts. I have been here at least 10 times and every time i go I wish i went somewhere else. There is always a 10 min line at the very least. Last time i went the servers where even rude to the people in line yelling out "move out of my way hot food blah blah blah." Listen lady i didn't design your layout its not my fault the line is right in you way. To top it off there menu doesn't cater to my greasy hangover needs. And honestly the last thing i want to see in the morning is a bunch of college kids wearing pajamas.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This place has got to be theeee best place in town for our "April is grilled cheese month" campaign!!! Afternoon Delight and it's owner/Mgr, Tom and Michelle and her mother...are all great people and really "listen" to what the people want! The menu here is fantabulous! But since we are talking "grilled cheese" this month, I want to head up with this luscious sandwich first and foremost! First you get this great, thick and grilled to perfection "sour-dough bread"...they put a couple of cheeses on the grilled sour-dough, along with some fresh and yummy tomatoes (never have I seen a bad one here!!) and you have the most succulent, yummy-liscious, best tasting "special" grilled cheese sammich you've ever had in your entire tummy!!! I'm not kidding! The food here is excellent anyways...they have everything on the menu from breakfast starters, omlets, the favorite "seafood Tom-lette" (which is an omlette with Salmon and veggies and cheese and its sooo delicious!), thick and rich cinnamon-raison french toast and their famous pecan, blueberry or peach pancakes that are grilled to perfection on the outside but soft and yummy on the inside and filled with whatever "goodies" you want!!
But honestly, back to the grilled cheese, since this is almost APRIL..."grilled cheese month"...this is one of the best places for your taste buds to get a great sammich of grilled cheese and sour dough bread as I mentioned above!! But if you're one of those who prefers a BIG, THICK, delicious PATTY MELT...you haven't tried a patty melt until you've had one of Tom's Patty Melts here at "Afternoon Delight"!! It starts with the great breads again, that they always have here in stock! They grill the bread to perfection and now you'll be surprised...are you ready??? TA DA.....they don't use the usual ground beef and slap it on a toasted skinny bread and slap some cheese on it and call it a "patty melt"???!!! NO WAY.... Tom puts some first class roast beef on the grilled sour-dough bread and adds the cheeses and the onions and voila!!!!!!!!!!! The best Patty melt in town! By the way, did you notice that it also has "CHEESE" on it??? LOL...have fun..because this menu is waaay big and waaay full of great choices...you'll just have to go back every Sunday like we do! "We", my family and I...are "hooked" and we do go every Sunday for brunch!! Sometimes we get their amazing breakfast's and other times we show up a bit later and get their delectable lunches!! Have a ball and try them all!!! love to you all who love to get out as much as I do!!Listed in: Michigan "hot spots", Culture Vultures, "MOM & POP" PlACES, The Coffee Connoisseur, Sinful Sandwiches & More stuff…

Came here one morning a long long time ago before I became an avid Yelper when I was visiting a friend... and *every time* I eat eggs benedict, I drool about the eggs benedict here. I can't tell you too much more because this was years ago, but it would be a shame if you came here and didnt have it. That is all.

Best breakfast in Ann Arbor. The waiting staff was right on target and politely asked us what we wanted to drink. The coffee was by far one of the best for a breakfast/lunch place. My husband ordered the veggie delight in the english muffin, while i ordered something that would look like a mixed egg omelet with veggies inside of a warm and light bread bowl with a light sauce on the side. This was by far, on of my favorite breakfasts outside of San Francisco ever. The veggies were all lightly cooked and the bread bowl was phenomenal- not overly mushy, nor too crunchy and it was a large enough portion for me to share a little with the hubby. I would love to go back and try more items in their menu for both breakfast and lunch.

Soooo delicious!!! Came here on Saturday around 1 with my mom, sister, and niece. We waited about 15 minutes for a table and then were promptly greeted by the waitress. Everything on the menu looks AMAZING and the fact that they have all those muffins displayed when you walk in did not help me make my decision! In the end, I decided on a spinach, feta, and onion omelette with a side of raisin toast. Once she took our order, I started to worry that I should have gotten the redskins too (I saw them on another table and they looked SO good), but since their menu is a wee bit pricey (my omelette was $8.50 + $1.50 for the raisin toast and the potatoes would have been another $2.75 or something). So anyways, I was worries that there wouldn't be enough to eat....well, imagine my surprise when they bring out my food and the toast is the size of my HEAD and 1" thick!! IT WAS SOO GOOD. Wow. There was a bit of frosting on the top crust, and there was a ton of melty-cinnamonny deliciousness all over the toast, along with the raisins. My omelette was very good too, although I think they should ease up on the onion. It literally had an entire medium-sized purple onion in there. I ended up picking out all but a few pieces since I just like a bit of onion taste. **Note to self, order "light onion" next time!!** But the spinach was clearly fresh and the feta had just the right saltiness to make it a perfect combination.
Overall, a great place to go if you're in the Ann Arbor area - I only wish I lived closer so I could go back more often!! -

Service was quick and ambiance was welcoming. Waitstaff was very friendly. The overhead lights for each table were decorated with a thicker colored paper - very original.
I had an omelette and they loaded it with lots of veggies, which I like. They don't mix the veggies in the batter (but rather fold the omelette over the veggies), in case you were wondering. The hollandaise was light and tasty. Ham was good.
I would come here again. -

It took us almost two years, but my husband and I have finally found a regular breakfast spot - as far as we're concerned, Afternoon Delight has the best breakfast in town. It's not the fanciest. The food isn't going to win any awards. But it is tasty, consistent, and reasonably priced.
The real steals are the two Morning Delight sandwiches - one with meat, one with a pile of veggies. For around $5, you get a generous amount of eggs, cheese, veggies or meat served on a whole wheat English muffin - or other bread if you ask for it - with ranch dressing. Trust me: it's good. I always feel like I should get something else, but I (almost) always end up with the Veggie Delight.
The pancakes are pricey but the size of a dinner plate. You don't need more than one. The chocolate chip are the best, and they're even better if you ask for them a little crispy.
There are several breakfast options involving frozen yogurt: atop a warm bran muffin, alongside a Belgian waffle, surrounded by fresh fruit. We covet these whenever we see them. There are usually two flavors of frozen yogurt available - two weeks ago they had pistachio! but had just changed to Orange when my dad ordered it. Very sad.
Order a frozen yogurt milkshake and pick as many flavors from the menu as you can stomach. This morning my husband had chocolate peanut butter banana Oreo. It was amazing. The large - for around $4 - is big enough for two.
I hear their bran muffins and brownies are legendary, though I have yet to try either. Maybe next weekend.Listed in: The Deuce

It took me forever to finally get over to Afternoon Delight for BREAKFAST. I've had their lunch food before, and even their dessert, but never their breakfast. I felt like I hadn't actually lived the Ann Arbor experience before then!
Their food was pretty good - consistent, what-you-would-expect, breakfast food. I liked that my omelette was full to the brim with goodies and not overly eggy.
Nothing overly special, but it's definitely tasty and I'll definitely be back! You can't beat the prices, either. Better than Angelo's, although it's just as busy, if not busier at times. One of my favorite things about them? They have desserts. I'm a sucker for sweets! -

My friend introduced me to the meat boule and I haven't turned back. I've had this about 10 times and I'm never disappointed. This is my go to brunch spot in AA and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting.
Prices are reasonable, portions are huge and quality is top notch. Only reason it's a 4 star is because of their hours. -

The whole wheat English Muffin was amazing!!! They were very receptive to alterations with the menu items. Which is really nice, because sometimes small places don't like to make adjustments. I had a breakfast burrito and really wanted to add potatoes.
The only thing that would have made the brunch jump from great to Amazing would have been mimosas! I love mimosas with brunch! Unfortunately, for all of you "mimosas with brunch" lovers out there, they do not sell alcohol.
I hate to end on a bad note, but I did not like their mocha shake. -

Great service, delicious food, what more could you ask for? It's amazing to me how many people have never thought to go here for breakfast or brunch, yet the line is always spilling out into the street. This is my absolute favorite breakfast place in Ann Arbor -- I place it above Zingerman's, Broken Egg, Angelo's, and all the others.
I usually get their Belgian waffles with fresh fruit and homemade whipping cream, although I know that they're omelettes and boules are equally amazing. Also, they're fresh-squeezed orange juice is a must-have.
Also note: even if there's a long line out the door to get tables, it moves pretty fast. This is because the staff is super quick at turning tables (but never makes you feel rushed), and the restaurant is actually much larger on the inside than you'd assume. So don't let the line deter you -- it's well worth the wait! -

Amazing. I could live on their **bran muffins** alone. Their bran muffins are completely different from anything I've ever had. They're not the super sweet light and fluffy kind (those are good too), they're the soft, moist, and slightly heavy kind. Restaurants all around the world should serve this instead of their complimentary bread.
Their *eggs benedict** is to die for. Unlike the popular Angelos, their bread base is softer and doesn't cut the roof of my mouth. So that's a good start. Their bearnaise sauce is indescribable. I would be tempted to take a taste of my arm if it was served in their bearnaise sauce. Maybe? And of course ham which is always my friend. I highly recommend the dish. I also like their **corned beef hash** which they sometimes serve as their special. It's okay, you can play hard to get. I'll get you. Especially since you're awesome.
My experience with their **omelettes* have been hit or miss. Sometimes my omelette is perfect. And sometimes it feel like a watery mess... as if it was made with frozen veggies. So I recommend sticking with their consistently delicious eggs benedict. -
Review from Cat S.
Perfect Saturday morning breakfast! My waitress was really helpful and accomodating: my preferred style of eggs benedict wasn't on the menu, but she made it happen. I ordered the special potato pancake eggs benedict, vegetarian style (ie, eggs florentine with potato pancakes). The spinach was fresh and the dish included a generous serving of tomatoes.
Because I was feeling particularly gluttonous, I also ordered a chocolate chip pancake. I wasn't sure I could eat an entire pancake, so she suggested ordering the child's size. It was absolutely delicious, covered in butter and filled with melted chocolate.
During my visit to Ann Arbor, I wanted to find a cozy diner with a hot, fresh meal for breakfast. I'm glad I wandered around and found this place. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. Excellent all around! -
Review from Amanda L.
This is a good place to go for a solid breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it'll satisfy your breakfast craving.
Definitely try the fresh bran muffins with frozen yogurt in between - oh-my-god!! I had this once and I still dream of it. I'd recommend asking to put 1/2 of the muffin on the side to take home, since it's unlikely you'll be able to eat the whole thing with the froyo, because let's face it - you'll be ordering a breakfast dish too! -

Afternoon Delight has been since before the horse-less carriage or so it seems. I've been here before a few times perhaps even 20 years ago. In this case, seems like some things never change. I could be mistaken but the same guy was behind the register and Walt was still saying Hi and Excuse me to every person in the place.
When I walked in for lunch, there was no one in front of me, but I did have the feeling I better give my order, grab a tray and move down the assembly line. The first word I saw on the chalkboard menu was Ginger, so I ordered the Orange Ginger Chicken sandwich. With it came a small place for my one trip to the salad bar. I'm not sure how people get a salad bar wrong, but luckily this wasn't one of those cases.
There were lots of regulars. In fact the feeling I got was I accidentally walked into some cafeteria of a private company.
The salad bar was good, the chicken was dry, the sauce was a bit generic and the croissant bun was a bit generic. Easy in, easy out. I'll probably stay out, although I may be well served to visit just the salad bar on occasion.

Please note: I try and rate places based on context, meaning a restaurant in Ann Arbor will have a tougher rating because of the stiff competition in this town. However a good Balkan place might get a better rating because it may be the only one attempting this in the area. -
Review from Amy B.
If restaurant quality were judged on appearances alone, Afternoon Delight would be lucky to reach a two star review. Fortunately, the food here is pretty dang good, so I can overlook the run-down cafeteria feel and uglifying fluorescent lights (pro tip: Don't go here on a first date).
Breakfast: Excellent. Everything I've had has been solid. I usually go for an omelet, but I have one friend who's in the Breakfast Pocket cult and another who wouldn't consider anything but the Meat Boule. (Side note: I personally feel a bit ill watching someone demolish a Meat Boule. It's one of those big bread bowls like for soup, only filled with eggs and meat and cheese.)
Lunch: This is a relatively recent discovery for me. Afternoon Delight is a great place to get a quick take-out lunch. You provide your order at the entrance and they boom it out over a microphone system. You pay at the end of the line and receive a cup to get your free choice of side from the salad bar. Then your sandwich magically appears in a reusable plastic container to go. My favorite sandwich is whatever chicken breast sandwich happens to be on special--they switch up some of the specifics, but it's often got a fabulous dijon sauce. I also like the tuna melt on English muffins, though I confess to picking the broccoli off and eating it separately as it's a bit weird on a sandwich.
I notice many of the other reviewers gush about the service at Afternoon Delight and feeling like "family." I guess I'm the unpopular cousin, because I most definitely do not feel like family here. In fact, I think the service is very hit-or-miss, even for the take out lunch. I've had at least one experience where I stood waiting to pay for several minutes while the cashier chatted with a regular patron. I appreciate that Afternoon Delight is an Ann Arbor institution and values its longtime customers, but that experience did nothing to convert ME to becoming a longtime customer. -
Review from Mei O.
I feel like this is the case of a place being super hyped up, thus leaving me a little let down. My coworkers almost went in to frenzy when I told them I had yet to eat here. First it was shock, then it was different people telling me what I should eat and what was the best, and "Oh my gosh, you MUST eat this." So, Andrew and I met a friend for brunch to see what all the hubub was about. I'm still not quite sure. I ordered the veggie boule, which was good, but was something that I could make at home, and I feel I could make it more flavorful. Andrew got their ginormous blueberry pancake, which was good, but didn't wow us.
The prices were good and the food was decent, I wouldn't mind going back, I just don't see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I'll change my mind if we go back and I try something else. -

Just went for my Birthday to get the free dessert deal.
A.D. would like it to be known that the Bday deal has CHANGED.
Now, it is a free dessert with another purchase. NOT a free dessert on your bday.
Despite this confusion, my server was overly nice giving me a free brownie, which was delicious!
I am excited to go back and try their muffin delight! I can see why there is always a line out the door on weekends. -

Seeing the previous Yelp reviews made us stop by for breakfast on a football Saturday and we were surprised to find that the line did not, in fact, perpetually stretch out the door though we did have to wait about 10 minutes before being seated.
Selina had the Eggs Benedict, which were over-poached by my standards since she didn't get the ooze, and I had the potato pancakes that were pretty small and covered with something I can't seem to remember. And, I suppose that kind of sums up my experience...kiiiiiinda forgettable.
The service is friendly enough and the food is served quickly but I wasn't exactly blown away with the breakfast fare. I'll definitely come back to check out the lunch offerings.
3 stars. -

Ok, so my best friend treated me to brunch here on Sunday. Before we even got here, I offered to chip in for the bill 'cause I was marathon, tapeworm hungry.
Well, since I knocked off a star, let me get the salty details out of the way: pretty long wait.... Well maybe 30 mins. But I was hungry and ready to Hulk smash. Another 30 minute wait for the food to come out. No mimosas ( I'm a little Chi town spoiled when it comes to this one). The butter was frozen (fail... Room temp, dagnabbit!). Cappuccino machine was down. I think that's it.
Oooooooohhhhhmyyyyyyy the food.... Bestie said those were the best restaurant eggs she's ever had and she's PICKY (scrambled hard and dry, no burns, cheddar please) about her eggs. Bran muffin was warm, soft, pop full of berries, and my digestive tract is currently as good as new. Half order of French toast was still huuuuuuge and reminded me of sticky buns! Potato pancakes were seasoned sooooooo well. Came with FULL FAT, REAL sour cream. Bestie got this bomb egg on toasted muffin sandwich that came with what I think was house made dill ranch dressing that was so good and went just right. Hot chocolate was so good, i had to order two. I meant to order bacon, but I didn't miss it.
Best part: we played guess the bill. I estimated $44 because we pretty much had a small feast. Sike! Closer to $22... I immediately receded on my statement about chipping in lol... -

Pretty good breakfast spot in Ann Arbor. We visit often and I think we've found a place we could go whenever we come in.
Pros:
- Huge portions
- Variety of options (i.e. three kinds of eggs bene)
- Vegetarian options (very important for our family)
- Skillet cornbread
- Friendly service
- Quick seating
- Takeout counter with lots 'o goodies
Cons:
- Weird layout
- Small
- Few tables
Obviously, the pros outweigh the cons, so get yourself here for some yummy breakfast. My dining mates said the eggs bene was good, the breakfast burrito was superb and my eggs and pancakes were very yummy. I usually stick with the standard breakfast fare, but everything was delicious. Get yourself in for some good pastries and yummy breakfast.Listed in: Ann Arbor

It wasn't until someone suggested meeting up here that I realized just how darn long it had been since I had visited here. My fella used to work just across the street, so AD was a common stop for him. For me, though, it's been a good few years!
The folks there were friendly and helpful, even though we were smack in the middle of lunch rush. I ordered a special spinach, feta and olive quiche, which was pretty darn amazing. It did seem a bit heavy for a quiche, but I'm not complaining at all -- it was just that it was a little richer than I was expecting.
The feta and olives added a nice saltiness (I'm a sucker for salty flavors... I have been known to eat straight sea-salt), and the eggs, while tasting good, also gave me a good protein/energy boost throughout the afternoon.
The soup that I got (vegetarian vegetable) was frankly disappointing. I've had good soups at AD before, but this is not one I'd recommend. It wasn't bad... it's just it wasn't that good, either. It didn't have much flavor at all. It's "vegetarian" options like this (that don't have a very robust flavor) that I sometimes feel give vegetarian eating a bad name.
Still, that quiche? It was rich enough to make up for the soup's shortcomings, and between that and the great conversation I had, I left feeling invigorated (and I've been finding it hard to feel quite so invigorated as normal with an injured leg!).
I'm positive I'll be back soon! Just no veggie-veggie soup for me! -

it took me three years to check out this place because i just could not buy the hype. BUT it was actually great! ann arbor has a nice, shiny list of really good brunch places, and this one tops it.
overall: super nice waitstaff, hefty portion sizes, widely varied menu, and everything tastes fresh. to try: yogurt bowl topped w/fruit, crab melt, seafood omelet, waffles (with froyo!). definitely go for weekend brunches. weekday lunches are ok, but brunch is unbeatable. -
Review from Emily G.
I LOVED this place because
a) the portions are huge and I'm not hungry until dinner,
b)everything is made super fresh and crazy delicious,
c) the staff is super nice and refills my coffee cup within seconds of me taking the first sip.
I got the veggie eggs benedict which consisted on 1 toasted english muffin cut in half with sauteed veggies (brocoli, cauliflower, asparagus, etc etc) on top of each one, with 2 eggs (perfectly cooked, runny on the inside, ooey-gooey) and everything drowning en bernaise sauce. It was a real challenge to finish it, and I was stuffed for the next 5 hours but oh so happy.
My friend got the muffin delight which was GIANT blueberry bran muffin with a tower of white chocolate frozen yogurt. You can get away with it being breakfast because its technically "bran muffin" and "yogurt" lol, but it was as good as cake and ice cream for me.
If you go, I suggest super early and on weekdays as the place is cute but small and its always absolutely packed.
If you live in AA, you should absolutely try this place. Its been around for over 30-40 years, and its still a good hot spot. -

My favorite breakfast joint in town.
Best pancakes I've ever had in my life. Single pancake, crispy on the edges, you can mix your toppings (i.e. chocolate-strawberry). Recommend frozen yogurt ON THE SIDE - if you don't specify, you'll get it on top and it melts instantly into a soup of pancake mush.
Love the eggs benedict + potato pancake, but I don't have much to compare against.
Lines are crazy on Sundays. -

Just was at Afternoon Delight for brunch with a few friends, it was a good experience!
The decor is nothing fancy, and I find the layout of the restaurant to be strange, but it's probably to accommodate counter-service for the lunch crowd.
The beverages were average, I had a Cappuccino Delight and expected something rich and foamy, but it was very diluted milky Americano with slightly sweetened whipped cream on top - not my idea of a cappuccino! I do wish I'd tried one of their fruit shakes but it was 13 degrees out this morning and I couldn't handle a cold beverage on top of that. My friends all ordered regular coffee, nothing spectacular.
The brunch meals themselves were a plus though, I had the seafood omelette that's available only on weekends, it's very light on sauce and cheese and there were chunks of fresh tomato to lighten up the flavor, all in all quite enjoyable, although the eggs could've done with a little less cooking time. My boyfriend's smoked salmon omelette had olives, onions etc inside it, a nice balance of flavors, although I enjoy smoked salmon more as a cold appetizer in general, even on eggs Benedict. A couple of friends said the eggs Benedict at AD is not comparable to Angelo's, another popular brunch place in the area; I liked the ones I had at Angelo's but wasn't extremely impressed either, and so passed on the ones at AD, although eggs Benedict are generally my go-to brunch choice.
I do need to rave a little about the cinnamon raisin toast though, it's like the dough of a cinnamon roll baked in a loaf tin, all the richness, syrup and flavor is captured, not to mention a slight buttery crunch (sliced then baked?), I would love to try make this at home..I could have this for breakfast for a week!
The portions are very generous, some at the table are avid eaters and even they asked for a box to bring away their second piece of toast, including myself, so go hungry (and who isn't at 10:30am on a Sunday morning?), you'll be sure to get filled right up! The price is also a definite plus, even with beverages and tip, the total amount was 25 per couple or 75 total, much more affordable than Cafe Zola down the street (Zola is more trendy though and AD is more like a diner).
Street parking is available, but spaces are rare, go to either the Public parking structure on Thompson (free on Sundays), or the one on West Washington past Main St. Afternoon Delight is situated right between these two. -

Ann Arbor, MI
Afternoon Delight is my favorite breakfast place in Ann Arbor. For a reasonable price, you get lots of delicious food. I usually order an omelette and that comes with a large helping of toast. (You have the option of a bagel, muffin, or English muffin instead.) I'm never hungry until dinnertime. Two meals for the price of one - score!
Eating at AD is a great way to start a weekend. Whenever I have out-of-town guests, I usually take them by.
If you eat here on a weekday, you can usually walk right in the door. However, if you want to eat here on the weekend and don't want to wait very long, make sure to get to the restaurant at least fifteen minutes before they open. It's pretty much guaranteed people will already be queuing. But if you're saavy, you shouldn't have to wait long. I went to AD on the Saturday of graduation weekend (kiss of death!) and didn't have to wait very long in line because I got there early.
I've also eaten lunch at AD but I wouldn't recommend it. At lunchtime, there's no table service and the restaurant reverts to cafeteria style. The real show is at breakfast, so stop by then. -

I went back to Afternoon Delight a few times after writing the last review, and my opinion has improved. Their food is a lot better than I gave them credit for, and the service was always better than it was the first two times I went. I'm crazy about the blintzes and I appreciate that they're not cheap with the fruit. My companion says they have almost the best sausage and biscuits ever.
My only remaining beef is that you will still wait in a very long line by the door to be seated for brunch, and between waiting for my food in a cozy seat with unlimited coffee refills and waiting by an icy draft, I'll pick the former.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Julia D.
My sister went to Michigan and I loved visiting her there because of this restaurant. They have huge, filling salads and excellent muffins. The decor reminds me of the early 90s, which to me is a total plus. Whenever I went there, I sort of felt like I was hanging out with my friends from 90210 or Melrose Place, just in Michigan. If you're in Ann Arbor, definitely check it out!

Recommended by a local friend, we went together on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30 pm and while there was a line to the door, it moved quickly, so we didn't wait much more than 5 minutes for a table.
The menu has plenty of options- which made it hard to decide! Next time I might look at their menu online first so that I can be more decisive when I sit down to eat!
I love that they give you an extended selection of carbs to choose from when you order an omelette- including their muffins and bagels. When they say giant omelette, they aren't kidding- if you could agree on the same omelette with your dining partner, you might want to just split it. The veggie boule looked amazing from across the room, and if I get a chance to go back, I'll definitely try it. The cinnamon french toast is thick and rich, and the small fresh fruit bowl was plenty for two to share as a fresh side dish.
The service was very attentive, even though the cafe was packed- which is always a bonus. This is the kind of place that I would want to visit over and over again just so I could try everything on the menu!
