I had been by this place a few times but had never been in. Well thank goodness for that! I could have walked here from my old apartment and that is just too dangerous. At least now I have to work for it!

Small shop, but everything is so super cheap! A case of 24 Peanut Apples for $7!  Chocolate covered pretzel sticks for 50 cents each! and a huge piece of chocolate covered apple flavoured caramel for $1!

Plus it doesnt hurt that everything is really delicious! (ok, this is an outlet, so some things look a bit "off" in terms of presentation, but what do you care, right?)

    Affy Tapple rocks!

Is there anything better than a sour apple dipped in caramel with nuts rolled on top? NO. It's a staple of Halloween and of childhood's past.

A nice place to stop into to pick up some caramel apples for a very cheap price.

This place has a variety of apples dipped and coated with different candies..And that's it!

The two women working there were nothing but rude/bad attitude.  I will never go back here again... First Impressions mean everything.

I make my yearly pilgrimage to Affy Tapple to buy a box to share with my family. I remember when they were at the old location and it was more hectic- this is much calmer (though midday on a weekend can get a little crazy!) Fresh boxes of Affy Tapples usually run you $18.50- less if you're buying in bulk, and they do take credit. In addition to your regular Affy Tapples they offer ones without peanuts and specialty ones- candy or cookie covered, larger apples with more elaborate decoration, and even chocolate dipped pretzels.

Just remember to not park in front of the door! People do it all the time and it's impossible to get out with an armful of boxes when someone blocks the entrance

Affy Tapples are a Halloween tradition in Chicago!  This is the time of year where you'll see them everywhere - school fundraisers, work, grocery stores, my house...

I prefer the plain caramel apples, no nuts!  They also have "gourmet" apples: milk chocolate almond, double chocolate crunch, chocolate candy pieces, triple chocolate, and of course - Halloween Affy Tapples with orange and black sprinkles.

It's a treat I get every single year and I can't imagine Halloween without them.

This morning I learned just how far I would go for an Affy Tapple.  The building I work in used to give them away for free.  This year we had to do a transportation survey on how we get to work to get one.  Even though I was running late seeing a table full of Affy Tapples brough tears to my eyes and water to my mouth and I needed to stop and take the survey.

I realized I didn't care if the survey took an hour or three hours.  Or if I was locked in the elevator after the survey.  As long as I had my Affy Tapple!

The things some people would do for a klondike bar, I would do for an Affy Tapple. Wanna try me?

When the Hallowen season ends, I crave them for a year.  And yet, I have never bought one outside of October.  The problem is they go bad too quickly for me to eat all of the ones that I end up buying.  And sure, people could suggest that I share.  But touch my Affy Tapple and I'll eat your hand along with it!

And the best part is...they're good for you.  Well the apple at least.  Though I'm sure the sprinkles are an excellent source of something.  What, I'm not sure. Sugar!  Yeah. Sugar's good for you!

Did I mention I wrote this review after eating one?  But don't blame the nonsense on the apple!

Quiet little store found on a back-path off Grosse Pointe road.

It's considered an outlet store so regular variety apples are .80 cents. The deluxe run around $2 - $2.50 or more. Check the photos, there are levels of deluxe apples. I prefer mine chilled. Had a deluxe, covered in milk chocolate and almonds, it was supreme.
Other than apples they offer their caramels 12 to a box for $1. Caramel chocolates, pretzels dipped in chocolate, and everything within view is less than $4. I got a bag of goodies for under $9. And I think it could last me a few weeks. They also have boxes of Affy Tapple for sale.

Not a good idea if you're on a diet; duh. but fun. Looks like I'll have to restart the diet next week.

When I stopped in it was empty and the counter lady told me it had been slow all day. Since she's got nothing else to do, she just constantly waits and watches.

So'm in a meeting with a new printer, checking out their facility, and the gentleman showing us around points at the Affy Tapple manufacturing plant across the way.  He says that sometimes their employess take a little trip down the road and pick up some goodies from the outlet located in the front of the building.

What!?!?  Seriously!?!?  When is this meeting gonna end...because I need to take my ass over there!  Little did I know that Affy Tapple manufactures the Mrs. Prindable's pricey line of gourmet apples, caramels, and coated pretzals that they sell at places like Nieman Marcus.  I mean, you need to take out a CD to pay for one of these apples in the department stores because they're like 26 bucks a piece.  The pretzal rods sell for 5.95 for 2 stink'n pretzals!

Oh no, not here, Kiddies!  Ten pretzal for a buck!  Let me repeat....10 PRETZALS FOR A BUCK!!!  Dipped in caramel and rolled in coconut, nuts, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, chocolate crispies, and coated candies.  A pack of 10 chocolate covered caramels...A Buck!  ...And so much more.

If you are a fan of Affy Tapples or Mrs. Prindables, you must stop by here.  It ain't pretty, and the decor will not blow your mind, but the products and prices will.  I bought like 100 bucks worth of treats for 6 dollars.  You can't beat that.  Now I just have to distribute them to eveyone I know because I'm allergic to them and can't eat them.  :)

The apples themselves are really good. We buy them in bulk every year to sell to raise money for student government at the school I work at.

However, this year's batch of apples went squishy before the 14 day period was up (they are supposed to last at least that long)--about 5 days before. I was told to call them and ask that the remaining apples that were so-so be replaces (this was about 4 cases--or 96 apples). I was put on hold for about 10 minutes, and when the customer service person came back, I was told that since "the expiration date was only a few days away, and we were dealing with perishable items, they could replace half the bad apples, but not all." I feel that this is ridiculous, since the 96 apples not only cost us money, but went bad almost 50% faster than they were supposed to.

So, if you want to get some really good-tasting taffy apples, I suggest this place. But if you're buying in bulk, be careful--you have no idea how old their produce is, so you have no idea how long the bulk items will last; if they don't last long, you will have wasted a bit of money.

I can't believe I am actually reviewing Affy Tapple but here goes.

This place is great! I recently ordered apples from them, a mix of types from Original to Triple Chocolate and they were yummy. They were smaller than I remember them being when I was a kid but then again I'm bigger. The apples were perfect and they were perfectly covered in deliciousness, whether it was nuts or chocolate. But none of this is the reason I am giving them 4 stars. Here's the real reason:

My company wanted to do a Halloween type party and wanted to have taffy apples for everyone. It was schedule for last Friday. I was responsible for ordering everything for this. I found out about it on Monday. Yeah, Monday. I had 4 days to figure out what to order and get enough for 600 people. Yeah, 600 people. Did I mention that I had a budget of only $3 per person? I immediately thought of Affy Tapple. This is the great part of the story. I ordered the apples on line on Tuesday and for only $10 shipping, I had 46 cases of apples in my hands by Thursday afternoon. Only $10 for shipping! Seriously? And at the busiest time of year for them! I thought I would be lucky if I could just GET that amount of apples. I thought for sure I was going to have to go pick them up in order to have them in time, but amazingly enough, they shipped them to me on time and cheap! They even called me to confirm that they had been shipped and to make sure Thursday was soon enough! You mean, I could get them NEXT DAY?!?!?!? Wow. Needless to say, their website is now programed as a favorite so I can remember this great experience next year!

Absolutly a Chicago tradition.  Crunchy apples dipped in caramel coated with peanuts.  I've been eating these since I was 5.  They were everywhere in school during the month of october.  I'm eating one as I type this!  Great for breakfast, or lunch, or snack.  It's really filling!  They just always bring me back to my childhood when I dressed up as punky brewster for halloween.  :)  Happy halloween guys!

Special message to the makers of Affy Tapples:  I LOVE YOU!!!  These little caramel apples have been part of my life, and most of your lives, for many years.  Every time I see one I have to reflect on those glory days of school fund raisers where we sold them for a quarter a piece.  You could just see the joy in the kids' eyes when it was "Affy Tapple Day" at school.  I still love them to this day.  And now that it's Halloween time, they came out with ones that have colored candy sprinkles on top.  But of course the plain and peanut varieties are just fine too :)

Just got a box of these from a friend. Wow! I'm actually not a big fan of taffy apples, but these are great. The apples aren't too sour and they have just the right amounts of nuts and caramel. Hmmm..now I wonder how long this box will last....
