This place is cool. Seriously, interesting stuff and the prices are good. Add on top of that the fact that the owners are ridiculously nice, and you have a great place to check out some furniture. Absolutely worth checking out for anyone who is scrounging for some surprisingly cheap furniture (and good quality).
Stuff that at other places I'd expect for $800+ was like $400 ish.
Bought a ottoman/coffee table reversible for only $200. -

We were looking for a queen size futon because the room we are isn't that big and we want to have more space so the little one could walk around. The woman who greeted us, Avis, was extremely nice and extra accommodating. I think my daughter may have also left a lasting impression on her. We went in on Monday and had our futon by Wednesday. I would certainly recommend this place, they are professional and very down to earth.

My review is mostly reflective of my frustration w/ their deceitful promise on when I'd get my delivery & their unresponsive delivery service. I still don't know if the furniture will be good or bad (because I have not received it yet at the time of writing this review).
I went there several days ago and purchased a bed and mattress.
(FYI - The prices are OK, but I would not consider it a sweeping deal. I payed over $500 for the simplest queen size wood bed frame and a mid quality mattress + delivery.)
During my purchase the staff person - who was very friendly - promised an unrealistic delivery time. I suspect she knew it would take a long time, and felt that if she told me I'd have to wait a week to get my bed, I would have gone to another store. They were out of product - and later claimed to not have known that they were out when they sold me the bed (who is keeping track of your inventory, if not you?) - which was their excuse for the first 4 days of not being able to schedule my delivery.
Several phone calls and days later I was still wondering when I would get my bed. Every time I called I'd be promised that I would hear back right away from the delivery person to schedule my delivery and never did. They were playing with my time, comfort and money. Their delivery person ignored my phone calls for several days.
After I threatened to cancel the purchase, the store staff finally pushed the delivery person enough to call me, and then he informed me that he had already scheduled my delivery (for a date and time when I wouldn't even be in town.) I guess he assumed I'd have nothing to do but wait for him.. and he did not need to ask / or pre-schedule things with me.
On top of that, he tried to charge me more for the delivery and set up of the bed, than the amount than the store staff had quoted.
Unless you are taking your furniture with you right away, I'd say go elsewhere. -

I have never actually bought anything here, but I have to come by and give them five stars because twice I have borrowed furniture (once a lounge chair and once a desk) for student shows. Borrowed. As in, the owner charged me nothing. Thank you thank you thank you.
The furniture itself is good for students, and they have a whole load of futons to choose from as well as bedroom and living room furniture and a few other various pieces and light fixtures. One of these days I'm going to go and actually buy something. -

Zero stars. Shop ANYWHERE else! The already-posted negative reviews reflect what I am now experiencing with this shady outfit, starting with the surprise $80 delivery charge, which I refused. I'll try to pick it up myself....and see how rude they may be about it.

This store sells exactly what the title suggests: Furniture that folds up. On widow display are beds of that very nature. This is not a place you visit to decorate your condo. But, for college students and people expecting to stay in their apartments for only a couple of years, it's great.

The prices and furniture were okay, but the two fat guys that worked there were real assholes. We found them to be very rude, and other customers in the store while we were there received the same rude treatment. They gave us crap for not using their suggested delivery service, and were unhelpful both times we were carrying our purchases out of the store.

We had the same problems as others who have written negative reviews here: misleading information about what was in stock and when they could deliver it, and abysmal customer service. On Monday, when we purchased, the salesman told us he had our futon and frame in stock and that it would be delivered by Friday. I had to make arrangements with the deliveryman (bad sign, I think) and he kept pressing me to confirm our items were in stock. I dismissed his concerns because the salesman had been so certain. I should have known better. After arranging with the delivery guy for a Thursday delivery between 10-2, I waited until 1:30 before I called the delivery guy, who told me the items weren't in store. When we called the store, the salesman made lame excuses, blamed others, and never apologized for misleading us and inconveniencing us. If they had been honest with us in the first place, we might not have bought but at least we would have considered going back in the future. Now, no way.

Store does not deliver as promised. Paid for furniture over a month ago and still not all furniture has arrived, even though the store owner said that "they will be here next week" for the last 3 weeks. How tiresome to have to keep going back to the store! We asked for a refund in the end.

Amazing customer service! I just bought a chest of drawers here and the folks at Affordable Portables were absolutely wonderful. They really went above and beyond. Really friendly and extremely helpful. I give them two thumbs way up!
