I've moved several times in my lifetime. Each time I used a different mover, because I never found one that did a decent job. I don't even remember the names of some of the past movers I used.
Affordable Moving has changed that, forever. I move most stuff myself, either in my car or in a U-Haul. The movers are needed just to move my heavy/bulky items like furniture and appliances. Really, not a big job and pretty simple to do. Two professional movers should be able to bang it out, and even two unprofessional movers should be able to do it pretty quick.
Affordable Movers had everything out of my old place and loaded into their truck in under 25 minutes. When you're paying $80/hour, you expect people to hussle. They really did. Not only that, they showed up on time and didn't have to call for directions. Nothing was damaged and they wrapped items that needed to be. Both movers were friendly and courteous. One guy said he'd been working there for over a decade. Obviously, these guys are experts.
They drove quickly to my new location (it's an industry standard to double drive time) and again, didn't get lost or need to call for directions. They unloaded quickly and got the job done well under the 3 hour minimum, saving everyone time. Finally, a moving company I can trust! -

UPDATE: Immediately after posting this review below I got a call from the company and they have offered to compensate me for my troublesome experience. I am increasing my rating (from a 1 to a 3) because THAT is great customer service. It shows the manager really cares about his customers and that situations like mine are taken very seriously. Clearly this is not a regular occurrence, so I appreciate the efforts.

My intent in providing this review isn't to mess up this company's reputation, but to give honest feedback on my experience. I am providing you (potential customers) with the same feedback I just gave them. I just moved this past weekend and my experience was disappointing to say the LEAST. I was really impressed by my communication with Daniel (he's the reason for the 1 star). When I told him that the move was unexpected (my 2nd one in 3 months) he made some great suggestions on how to keep cost down (i.e. request that the movers start with the heaviest things first). His professioalism was the reason I chose Affordable Moving (aka OC Movers) over other companies.
On Friday we finalized the move and I was given an arrival window that started at noon. At 11:14 I spoke to James and he said the drivers would be arriving at noon. At 11:38 I got a call from the drivers saying they were outside waiting for me, but I notified them I was still en route and would be there shortly. When I arrived (a few mins before noon) the drivers weren't there. I called and they notified me "we're at the liquor store, we'll be right back". At the liquor store? Really? So right from the beginning I was concerned. When they arrived I gave them the situation (on a budget, move the big stuff first). He said it would take 3 hours to load, which was ridiculous to me, even with the walk to and from the truck. It took me and my brother 4 to move my stuff in and we're inexperienced! So I was hoping his estimate was being liberal. I proceeded up stars to secure my dresser and load wardrobe boxes while they moved what I thought would be the big stuff first. I then had to leave (my mother and cousin stayed behind) to run an errand. When I came back they had been moving for an hour and the only things in the truck were the kitchen table and a couple of small boxes. My cousin had stayed behind and she stated 1) The younger mover continued to stop and take bathroom breaks (this may have been due to the run to the liquor store) 2) every time he came in he stopped and asked her which boxes to get when I specifically told him big stuff first. 3) when I called back and told her to reiterate that we needed to put a rush on it and get the big stuff first he responded to her, "oh you guys are on a BUDGET". Excuse me? Who isn't?! Who has money to just throw away?
Finally when I got back I went to my bedroom the older short was just standing there with his arms resting on a wardrobe box. He tried to pretend like he was doing something when I came up but, really, what do you have to do to wardrobe boxes? They're already closed.
So I immediately called their main office. We (me, my cousin, and my mother who is almost 60) started helping them take stuff to the truck. That's ridiculous to me. So of course the move went over what I budgeted and I'm extremely upset. I could have gone and gotten day laborers for this type of service. I am not one who typically complains, so this is difficult. I am the first person to give accolades when they are deserved, but I couldn't let this go. When I contacted the company with my complaint they offered a discount on my next move. I don't know how often they think people move, but basically I have to eat the loss now. Perhaps I just got the "bad movers", but I took a chance and I regret it now. -

Hujh was amazing, it was my birthday and they made it extremely pleasant! They were so helpful and worked their butts off! I have very difficult stairs and they did not complain once. This was the best moving experience I have ever had. Extremely professional. Worked start to finish! Thank you so much to Affordable Moving for making a stressful situation painless.

I had chosen this place based off of the reviews. We have never used a moving company, but since I have an infant now it was time we hired one! We moved from our one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom apartment. Terry and Hugh were our movers and they were awesome. They were extremely friendly, and very hard workers. Our new apartment had tricky stairs... they were very narrow and they awkwardly turned. The guys were able to get all of our items up in reasonable time. There were no hidden fees and the price was really good! I will definitely be calling them again for our next move!

After reading great reviews on Yelp, I called them up & they offered very reasonable, competitive pricing and were available the day we wanted to move. A huge truck came (for a 1 bedroom & storage unit) with 2 movers and we finished the job in 5 hours. They moved very fast & professionally-nothing was broken and no walls were scuffed. They dissembled a bed, wrapped up dressers, provided free wardrobe boxes.
Definitely would use them again (but i'm hoping I don't have to move again anytime soon). -

Hands down ... BEST moving experience I've ever had. The dream team (Jerry, Mario, and Miguel) were fantastic--completely efficient and pleasant. I was scared to death to hire movers because there's no margin for error-moving day is a one shot deal. I am so grateful I chose this company. I've moved a lot over the past few years, and have had mostly terrible experiences, until I hired this company. I've always done my homework before hiring anyone, but most of the time they never lived up to the promises made during the hiring process.
From the first time I called and talked to Daniel, I was impressed with his straightforward answers to my questions, everything was easily spelled out to me, and everything he said they'd do, they did!
On the morning of the move, Daniel said the 2 guys would be there between 7-8am, and they showed up at about 7:30! I've never had movers actually show up when they promised they would, so I was already a happy customer. The cost was on par with the other moving companies I called, and I knew I'd need about 4 hours of total time, and in the end I was charged for 4 1/4 hours. Of course, because I knew I was under a time-crunch, so both my mom and I helped carry stuff, but the 2 guys busted their butt to get it all done as quickly as possible. And, they wrapped everything and took care of my stuff so nothing was broken, scratched or otherwise damaged - bonus!
I would highly recommend this moving company and am keeping their information on file for the next time I move, which hopefully won't be for a long time, but I'd like to ask all other Yelpers to keep them in business until I need them again! -

I had a huge move this past Saturday and hired Affordable Moving and Storage to help me and I will never move without movers ever again! Guillermo and Roberto came out on time, and had me packed up within 45 minutes. And I had a lot of stuff to move. They were very efficient but were still very careful with my things. And the price was very reasonable for the amount of work they did. I highly recommend Affordable Moving and Storage and I will definitely use them again for my next move.

Moving sucks. When the time comes for a move I've always done the usual thing of renting a truck and trying to trick my friends into helping out with promises of either a good meal or helping them in a reciprocal move when they need it (which always turns out to be much harder than YOUR move). After my last grueling move I swore I would hire a mover the next time. That day finally came.
I turned to Yelp to research a good mover; one who was careful with your stuff but also reasonably priced. I narrowed it down to a handful of high rated companies and then eliminated all the questionable reviews (you know the ones by people who have no photo, no friends, and only one or two reviews). I decided on Affordable Moving and I can't thank my fellow yelpers enough. This is the place to use for your next move!
The two movers - Orlando and Lucas - were the moving dream team. Watching them move stuff was amazing. They were quick and knew exactly how to handle each piece of furniture. They were so experienced they didn't even have to speak to know what the other wanted. Seeing them maneuver furniture and boxes on their dollies was like watching some sort of alternative ballet. They are careful to wrap things in padding so nothing gets cracked or scratched.
The bottom line is that they were very very quick and very very careful with everything. They were so conscientious that at my new place they even unloaded via a longer route along a cement walkway because the more direct path was through a grass lawn and they didn't want to track anything onto my new carpet. And yes, they were EXTREMELY affordable - so cheap you will wonder why you haven't used movers before. -

Seriously, next time I move I will hire affordable movers again. The two guys that came to help me move where both super polite, very friendly and VERY fast. We don't really have all that much stuff, but we do have a very large bed and bedframe. They made it seem so easy!
When they came we already had everything packed, minus a few clothing items which we needed wardrobe boxes for (which they supply for free). Which because of the fact that we where ready, they loved us for that.
Hourly prices are great, they have a special that during the week (Monday - Wednesday I think?) Its only $75/h with no hidden charges, and drive time is double. Which is normal. They do charge for shrink wrap if you need it, but that is also normal and expected (we didn't need it though).
Our move in total was 3 hours and 20 minutes. 1 hour and 20 minutes for loading from a second story apartment. 1 hour drive time up from Tustin to Koreatown area. They actually beat me to my new condo. 1 hour unloading. Total charge 4 hours and 20 minutes. (Drive time doubled, remember? :) ) Totally reasonable, and I swear to god I am never moving myself again. -

Excellent, excellent movers! The 2 man team moved us from a 2 floor townhome into a 3 floor townhome and didn't even stop for a break between carrying 40+ boxes, 2 sets of bedroom furniture, and a steel frame couch up 2 flights of stairs. It only took them 4.5 hours and the literally did not stop for even a second.
The prices per hour are extremely reasonable with no hidden charges and they are accredited through the BBB which is important to me because some other moving companies may slightly cheaper but they don't have insurance or the proper licenses. -

I'm getting ready to sell my home and needed a mover to help me place a few pieces of furniture and some boxes into storage nearby. I called several companies who all stated they had a 4 hour minimum at a very high rate. I finally contacted Affordable Moving based on reviews on Yelp. They were able to schedule me in the next day at an outstanding rate with only a 3 hour minimum. The two workers, Marcos and Leonard, arrived on time, and were friendly and courteous. They worked quickly and efficiently and took care to wrap my furniture to prevent any damage. The whole job cost $233 which was less than half the cost of the other companies. I was thrilled with the service and will definitely call them again.

I paid for two movers and basically got one. One of the movers was in the truck doing nothing. I have used several other moving companies when living in San Diego who were so much faster.
I booked them for a Saturday afternoon. They had already done one move for the day and mine was the second.
Since my afternoon move time was flexible they were supposed to call me before they arrived. They did not call.
On the way to my new place they stopped for food and did not tell me. I did not know were my stuff was and I had to call the office.
It might be hit or miss with which movers you get since this is a larger company. -

I moved last November and foudn them on yelp. They were pretty hassle free, no hidden fees and such. They came when they said they will come. you pay by hour. they are very efficient with moving stuffs, i think my move took clos eto 3 or 4 hours mostly 'coz i am a bad a packer.
Effiient pleasant people to work with! I would definitely call them if i move again. -

Great experience with Affordable for a local move! We were quoted a price over the phone based on a description of our current place and destination address, but the final cost was actually less than the original quote.
To speed things along, we packed everything ourselves except for our furniture, but Affordable does offer full service packing and provides boxes, packing materials, etc., at an additional cost. We just bought our moving boxes at Home Depot to save on costs.
The 2 movers from Affordable were courteous, friendly and all business. I've gone through corporate paid moves several times over the past few years, and surprisingly, the Affordable guys worked much more quickly than the corporate paid movers. The Affordable guys worked efficiently and never took a break.
The Affordable movers padded and wrapped ALL of our furniture to prevent damage and quickly pointed out any pre-existing damage on our furniture before they wrapped it up.
The thing that surprised me the most is that they only left one minor scuff mark on a door frame in our new home while moving a large armoire into a bedroom. Not a dent or ding mind you...just a scuff mark that was easily removed with some soap and water. That was the only damage which is quite impressive considering we have some rather large and heavy furniture.
I'd definitely use and recommend Affordable for local moves. -

These guys are great.
Found them here and called about the mid-week special.
They were on time, worked fast, and provide free wardrobe boxes to hang your clothes.
They charge double for drive-time, which is standard. But don't drive 45mph down the freeway like other companies I've used.
We had thrown out most of our old furniture, so mostly had boxes and appliances. We got from Orange to south Santa Ana, completely finished, in under 4 hours. Less than $350, not including generous tip for great work.
Worth every penny! -

Orlando and Cuevas were phenomenal!!!! They went above and beyond our expectations.
Our couch didn't fit through the hallway, but they found an alternative route through the window. We were so happy.
They literally ran up and down the stairs. We couldn't believe it! We kept thinking they were so great. What a relief during such a hectic time. -

I would give these guys 6 stars if I could! I had a really bad experience with a different moving company the last time I moved. I have very large couches, and the last movers didn't wrap them and ended up ripping a bit of the upholstery... and then barely reimbursed me anything for it. This was NOT the case with this company! They wrapped ALL my furniture so well that there could have been a hurricane going on outside and none of my stuff would have been damaged. Also... they were fast! We left my old house at the same time and they arrived at the new place maybe 3 minutes after I did (and they were in a huge truck...), and got the entire job done in less time than they had originally quoted (and I was even moving onto the 3rd floor).

YES!! Hiring movers, best decision I've made in a long time. The big key to the success was this company. The two guys showed up, full blown moving truck and supplies, and they knocked it out. 3rd story move.
I looked in the truck a few times, they had it packed tight, they had wood stuff covered, they tied things down where needed. Most of all, they did right by my 52" LCD. Packed it up right and securely.
Their quote was also dead on time wise. -

These guys are the pros, no wonder they have such great reviews on here. I've used starving students and after using affordable moving, I will never use starving students again. Affordable moving is like family owned or something you can tell by the way Daniel talks to you on the phone right away, very different vibe. They were prompt, they were professional, I'm so used to guys giving me the weird vibe when they've moved me or listening to something inappropriate, but in their case, I felt the respect , I felt the professionalism, they got the job done in a short amount of time, now I was only moving a block away but I was quite impressed. Wendell was the name of the guy who moved me, with another guy I don't remember his name.

My experience was just ok. The movers were friendly and efficient but I was initially charged for the time they spent eating the lunch I bought. The extra time was reversed when I placed a call to complain. I wouldn't have called to complain except that I asked that certain kitchen items be kept separate because I was moving to a home where the kitchen was under construction. I found those items in several boxes packed with other kitchen items intended to be kept in storage - very frustrating!

We hired Affordable Moving and Storage to help us move in September. We were moving from a 2 bedroom in Newport Beach to another 2 bedroom in Costa Mesa.
I chose them primarily because of the good reviews here on Yelp, and they did not disappoint. The two movers showed up promptly, and were professional, polite and very hard working. They moved quickly and deliberately, but also carefully enough to ensure that our stuff was well taken care of. I was afraid that because the move was charged by the hour they would take there time, but that was not the case. Also, the lead guy spoken great English (I know that is a concern for some people).
They provided boxes to hang our clothes, and wrapped our more fragile/important fur nature in plastic (minor extra charge).
The entire move took only 3 hours. We were really impressed. What a great deal!!! (FYI, we packed all of our small personal possessions in boxes and moved them ourselves to cut down on time).
Also, after the move, when there was a question about what happened to a missing shelf to one of our bookcases, they were very quick to respond and were very professional and upstanding. Very impressed!!
I HIGHLY recommend this moving service for someone who wants great movers at a really great price!!!!!! -

Called AMS after looking at the Yelp reviews and I must say Yelp did not disappoint. Carlos (not sure who the other guy was) came this weekend to move me out of my condo and into our new place (3 blocks away!). I was skeptical at first since they were only sending 2 guys and you pay by the hour. However, these guys hauled serious ass! At time there were literally running out of the truck after loading a piece of furniture. Everything was taken care of and things that needed to be wrapped were wrapped. In all, it took 4 hours to move 4 rooms of furniture from one place to another.
I kept offering the guys lunch, but they always refused. I finally just went out and bought them some burgers. I don't think they deducted lunch time from the overall bill, but it was only 20 minutes and these guys earned their money.
Would definitely use these guys again. They were pretty funny guys too. -

The representatives on the phone are very nice, particularly Dan. He was upfront on all the costs and very helpful with asking the right questions to better prepare us and his team for the move. The movers were very professional, physically fit and efficient.
Dan followed up with us during the move and after. Now that's customer service! They made an unpleasant event, moving, more smooth and less stressful. I'd use them again and recommend them to family and friends. -

Just finished the MOST WONDERFUL move of my life! Affordable was just that (they charged me $375 for what another company charged me $1000 for three years ago! The same stuff, mind you...and this time I moved everything into a storage unit (requiring more time to pack it in tightly). I cannot say enough good things, but let me try:
1) Said they'd arrive between 8 and 9am, and they arrived just before 9am.
2) Two workers were very capable and friendly No messing around - all business. Bought them lunch and soft drinks, plus a great tip, to thank them for the great service!
3) Can't tell you if anything was broken, as it's all packed up. But all looked orderly and unmangled. They offered to wrap the couch and love seat (both VERY well-worn) or not, plus mentioned they wouldn't get dirty in their clean truck; I opted for not and saved on packing materials. The rest of the furniture (mostly nice wood) all plastic wrapped - company policy.
4) They were HONEST. Charged for only the time they were there and double the drive time, as promised No hidden fees/charges.
5) I have some HEAVY stuff, and they didn't give me the stink eye for the whole move, like the last company did! The respect they showed me and my stuff was truly appreciated.
6) STAIRS!! No charge-per-stair fee - the first moving company I've ever used who didn't charge by-the-stair!! I lived on the 2nd and 3rd floors (townhome set up), and sure appreciated the break THERE!
7) Above and beyond: I had been trying to get my old Vespa-like scooter to start all day, to no avail. I was going to have to tow it to a place very close to my storage unit. Thought I'd call my tow insurance after the movers left. Well, they asked if I wanted THAT loaded on the truck, too! I gladly took them up on it, and after the storage unit locked up, I could get a tow within 1.5 miles. It didn't save me money, because the insurance covers a tow; but it made my day so much less stressful to be able to stay there and not have to drive back home to deal with scooter hell. I'm now relaxing on the porch of my new sublet, and felt compelled to write about my great experience today. Thank you, Affordable! You rocked my world today!!! -

I hired these guys to move stuff from my apartment to Los Angeles. I'm so glad I did! First, they don't try and nickel and dime you. They were very upfront with their prices and had no hidden fees. These guys moved EVERYTHING in less than 4 hours to LA.
I hired another moving company (Chipman) to move within Irvine and the guys took 7.5 hours to move my stuff 1.5 miles! Chipman charged almost twice as much as my move to LA. I couldn't be happier. After these guys, I feel like Chipman owes me back some money. -

I agree with so many of the other reviewers here on yelp. If I could give them more stars I would!
I haven't moved in over 7 years and collected lots of stuff (aka junk) over the years. I wanted my move to go as smoothly as possible so I rented some green bins (which were amazing BTW...that review comes next). And hoped for the best.
The best was delivered by the two teams that Scott sent to my house. They called me before they arrived and showed up on time. Once there, they very quickly packed up my 3 bedroom, 2 bath house in what I felt was record speed!! Arrived at 8:30 and we were outta there by 11:00 am!!! I was thrilled... and even better was knowing that they weren't stretching out there time because they do get paid by the hour.
I can't say enough great things about the service I had with Affordable Movers. If you are looking in the OC area... give them a call. You won't be disappointed!!! -

Buyer beware! This moving company, which was priced competitively, sent only two movers even after I challenged their judgment on this point. The move, which the owner estimated would take 4 - 5 hours, actually took 10 - 11 hours costing me twice the estimated price. Anyone can make a mistake, so I contacted the owner about the error in judgment and he offered no assistance with the grossly under estimated moving cost. This was very bad judgement again on his part as my family is in the real estate business and could have referred lots of business his way.

I've moved several times, I've pretty much done it everyway you can imagine- on my own, hiring helpers, begging friends, and hiring moving companies. Never had a good moving experience - that is until now.
I saw the reviews on YELP and I decided to use these guys based on what I read. I called and spoke with Daniel, he pretty much laid everything out in black and white for me. Asked questions about my stuff that needed to get moved and advised me on how many guys I'd need for the move and so on. I booked it then and there, A day before the move I got a call to verify that we are on for the move, and they took my deposit money over the phone...
MOVING DAY!!
Carlos and Roberto showed up at exactly when Daniel said (miracles can happen). I pretty much had everything boxed up and ready to go and placed strategically by my door so we could get out fast...
They got everything out of my old apartment in exactly the amount of time that Daniel estimated - These guys didn't stop for anything- worked like machines!!!
Carlos and Roberto met me by my new apartment and unloaded in quick fashion - NO SMOKING BREAKS- NO NONSENSE- Just fast and efficient bust your ass type of moving...
I was impressed by both the WORK ETHIC that Carlos and Roberto showed but also by the PROFESSIONALISM that this company exhibited! I was impressed! I very highly reccomend these guys - Got all my stuff into my new apartment quickly without breaking any of my suff and kept me within budget!!!
It's hard to find people that exhibit this type of Work Ethic, not many people show up ready to work and truly bust their ass to get a job done anymore... Impressive!! -

Moving is horrible and picking a mover that will do a good job without breaking anything is even worse. I came across Affordable Moving & Storage through a customer of mine who had used them and she said they did a great job.
I used them and they did a great job. They were fast and efficient and nothing broke. The 2 movers were extremely friendly and professional. And their price is what they say in their name, AFFORDABLE!!!
I highly recommend these guys!!! -

Thank you Yelp! I found this company on here and I highly recommend them. They were quick, careful, and affordable.
The CA attorney general's website has some good information about what to look for. One suggestion is to check if the company is registered with the California Public Utilities Commission. When I looked up this company, I confirmed that Affordable Moving has an active permit for household goods, as well as insurance coverage. https://delaps1.cpuc.c... Wendall & Lucas are amazing! And everything they say about Dan is true. Will DEFINITELY be using this guys again! To spare you all the details, I am simply calling these guys "The Break-Up Movers". They made what would have been a horrendous day into a quick couple hours of liberation. Trust me...SO WORTH IT! I will never move again without these guys.

Yes, it was as good as it gets. Talked with both Scott & Daniel, and they set us up well. Cost were reasonable and they were upfront about the costs. 3 guys showed up, and did an amazing job. Fast, efficient & careful. Yes. Both fast & careful. Orlando, Carlos & Lucas were very good.

Happy with the person who help move..
I booked for three men to help me move, to save time. But only two showed up. uhhh..
One of the non Spanish mover was great, they did a quick clean job.
